piggly-wiggly

Piggly Wiggly stores in SC and Eastern GA will start an awesome Greenbax promotion starting Wednesday 2/3.  This is any early heads up that for the next month you are going to be a Piggly Wiggly shopper.   Maybe you will learn to love Greenbax so much that you’ll just stay a Pig shopper after February!

What’s the deal that could change shopping routine?

Starting 2/3 through the month of February: Get 1 Greenbax for every coupon you use up to 10 per visit

You can use these starting your next trip on great Greenbax specials throughout the store, for deals around town like Dry Cleaning, Movies, Gas or…

Hold onto them until Greenbax days the last three days of month (Feb. 26th – 28th), and get $15 off any purchase when you use 10 Greenbax.  You can use 10 Greenbax per transaction those 3 days!

By the end of the month you could have a TON of Greenbax if you went everyday and used 10 coupons!

One more thing to get you ready:

They are making the February in store Greenbax deals very lucrative.  You won’t be holding all of your Greenbax to the end of the month. I’ll let you know more in a few days…

(What are Greenbax specials?)

    • Teaundra

I have never really shopped there…seems so expensive so I am interested in seeing these great sales..

    • Haley

I’m not much of a fan of the Pig. I’m thinking this may change my mind. Thanks Jenny for all you do.

    • Kim

They usually are a place that I only go to for a couple of sales items every once in a while. The one I go to in Summerville, SC (Mr. K’s) is expensive and they do not take internet coupons. Is this the only one that doesn’t take internet coupons in Summerville?

      • kathi

I go to Mr Ks for the boneless, skinless breast of chicken ($1.99 a lb 90% of the time otherwise fluctuates between $1.79 and 2.19–this usually unadvertised “special” has been going on for at least 17 years and I just go w/ the flow)

The Pig at 78 and College Park Rd is a corporate store and thus more likely to take internet q’s. Will check next time I am “that way” because it is far from my favorite store but as my daughter said “mommy at that rate you can make a bajillion $ in Greenbax” Thinking she is right, if I have excuse to spend 10 q’s each of 2 different days that is a full tank of gas for my car!

        • Melinda

          kathi,

you seem to know alot about the Pig. what are greenbx’s?
          Thanks,
          Melinda

          • Jo Ann

Greenbax are measured in books and are accumulated as you shop. Every time you scan your Pig card you are awarded Gbax books for the amount that you spend. You can use them to get certain items free or save them for gbax days where you can redeem 10 books for a savings of $15. they can also be used around town for free gas, dry cleaning, etc. Go to http://www.thepig.net and the program is available on there with explanations. I used mine this year at the outlet mall in Myrtle Beach and bought Christmas gifts. 67 books there gave me a $100. gift card to shop with. I love the program.

        • Lis

Yeah, I tend to hit up Mr. K’s for meats….generally their steaks and roasts, etc, are great cuts. But for anything else, I tend to shop Publix or Bi-Lo, thanx to the double COs.

      • Kim, the Mr. K’s in Knightsville, S.C. does not take internet coupons either. So, I just go to Publix across the street.

        • Bill

I would not go to Mr. K’s Piggly Wiggly, however, the one off of Bacons Bridge and Trolley is a Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company and they are awesome. They take internet coupons and their staff is friendly and knowledgable. You should give them a try and maybe you will see what I am talking about.

    • Carin

Do they double coupons .50 and below up to a dollar?

      • Laura

As far as I know they don’t double any coupons which is why I don’t shop there but this will certainly make things better. I think they’re trying to appeal to us “couponers” a little more!

      • Emily

No doubling what so ever @ the Pig in my town (Spartanburg, SC).

    • Angela

      Jenny,

Are you going to start adding Piggly Wiggly Deals to your site?

    • Apryl

I have gone to the one in North Charleston on Rivers and they double coupons (I don’t know what amount), and they also take printables. It must vary by store. I think I might be going there soon!!

      • Lis

Hmmm, I didn’t know that this particular one doubled….I’ll definitely have to check it out. Thanx for the heads-up, Apryl.

        • Missy

I was in this store on Rivers today and was told that they do not double coupons.

    • This is great! Theres one like 10 minutes from my home in Prosperity. I hardly ever go there.

      • Jeanne

I pass by the Prosperity one eveveryday….do they take internet coupons…the store is very very small though

    • Sue

Piggly Wiggly is the only grocery store in my town so I buy most of my groceries elsewhere. They are very expensive and most of theur sales are 80% store brands. They do have good sales on meat. I’ll definitely be checking out next week’s specials. I have used internet Q’s there and they did not double, so maybe it varies by store.

    • WOW! Piggly Wiggly…I did not know they still existed! What great memories, as a young boy going to the “PG” with mom to shop. They left Texas decades ago and I just assumed…Kaput! Really cool they are still out there.

While rummaging around the I-Net, found your site…this is really fun! Going to keep an eye on this…Thanks for the great memories! :)

      • Jackie

You better bookmark this site because you will be an addict like the rest of us. Jenny is the BEST! God bless her because I don’t know how she does it all but I am thankful she does. This site is a couponer’s best friend. I also highly recommend visiting her coupon 101 class. I thought I knew most everything about coupons but she proved me wrong, I learned so much and got some great laughs at her wonderful and fair approach to couponing.

      • lia

        Smokey,

You are going to be stoked about how much money you save using this site!

    • JEB

I usually only go there for emergency milk, since it is the closest store to my house, or for meat sales.

    • Bryan

Does anyone know why it doesn’t apply to the NC stores? I know most of them are independently owned around here.

      • Jo Ann

This is exclusive to Piggly Wiggly Carolina. They are a different franchise.

    • MDawn

They are usually high but I drive to one about 15 min from my house occasionally for some deals—they also usually have great coupons that I haven’t seen elsewhere!!!

    • dawn m

I love the Pig by my house. From the manager to the baggers, everyone is noce and helpful. I usually buy meat(cheaper than Publix)during B1G1 and emergency items. The gas station across the street does greenbax too.

    • Not only can you use the Greenbax to get the $15 off at the end of the month, but they also have a catalog of tons of stuff you can use your Greenbax to get. You can check it out on their website and see what you would like to save your greenbax for. The closest piggly wiggly to me is about 15-20 minutes away but this is really tempting to want to go everyday. This just seems too good to be true.

    • Emily

This is SOOO great! We live in a TINY town and the Pig is the only grocery store…everything else is 10-15 or more minutes away. Typically, I make the trip several times a week for groceries and only use the Pig for emergency items or things that are on a great sale…but this may change that! I would LOVE to see you do a weekly Pig deals/coupon matchup, although I know their ads vary a lot. I’d be happy to help w/ the ad in my town if needed…Spartanburg, SC (specifically Pacolet).

      Thanks!!!

      • When you said that the pig was the only grocery store in your town, I knew you must live in Pacolet. It’s so nice to see people on here from my hometown (Spartanburg). I used to go to church in Pacolet and would visit that Pig for milk or bread after church.

    • Abby

I used to work at Mr Ks for several years. Just as a reference, you used to (I’m not sure if it has changed since then) have to spend $120 to earn 1 GB book…..and in turn they are typically worth $1.50 per book. So THIS could be FANTASTIC!

    • I’m wondering if 1 greenbax means 1.0 or if it is a smaller amount. For instance, right now I have 14.26 greenbax and I just think it’s too good to be true to go in and use 1 coupon and come out having a total of 15.26 greenbax. I guess I’m just confused because I’m thinking back to the old way of the actual greenbax books.

      • Missy

I swung into the Pig today just to look around and ask some questions… I spoke with the manager who confirmed that 1 coupon= 1 Greenbax = $1.50 at the gas pump. WOW! For us that are used to doubling at Publix or Bi-lo, I’m thinking that probably the best thing to do is use FREE coupons or $1.00 (and up) coupons that normally would not double. I plan on making my first trip with a few of my Free item coupons (home mailers) on Wednesday just to get a feel for it and have nothing out of pocket (yet) :)
ps…He also confirmed that they do NOT double, there is a limit of 10 coupons per TRANSACTION and these coupons can be for any value…. 5 cent to 5 dollars.
        OMG I’m stoked!!!
Oh and Jenny….the manager expressed sadness that the pig isn’t on your site LOL

        • I was just wondering which store you went to. Does this mean that we could do 2 transactions in one day with 10 coupons per transaction and walk out with 20 greenbax? At first I was thinking that it’s only a max of 10 greenbax per day, but that would be even better if you could get 10 with each transaction per day. Thanks so much!

          • Jenny

It is 10 per visit accoring to the info they sent me, so have as many “visits” as you like!

    • Do any of them in Columbia take internet coupons?

      • I just called the Piggly Wiggly on Devine St and Forest Dr and they said that they do take internet printables, however they do not take the ones that say B1G1 free or free. I hope this may help someone.

      • Leah

I called the Piggly Wiggly in Lexington and they said they do take internet coupons.

    • I’m having a hard time trying to match up coupons with the Piggly Wiggly ad. What would we do without you Jenny?

    • Michelle

My Pig even takes expired coupons so check with yours to see.

    • I am so glad that I just saw that this deal starts 2/3. I was going to go tonight and boy would I have been disappointed.

    • jo mcdonnald

The Piggly Wiggly in my town does not offer any Greenbax rewards and will absolutely not take any internet coupons, and I also find it hard to get them to even redeem coupons out of the paper. All in all it isn’t a very customer friendly place! i wish the coporate offices would make them abide by all the Piggly Wiggly policies and promotions!

    • Jeri

Does anyone know if this sale covers the store in Lancaster? I have lived here for 14 years and shopped in that store maybe 3 times. It is kind of yucky and in a run down part of town but I am willing to try it for a month if the deals are as we think they will be..

      • You may want to give them a call. Some Piggly Wiggly’s are independantly owned and may not offer this deal.

    • marie

So excited about this deal. Got two coupons in the mail for $10 off of $40. One expires end of this week and the other at the end of next week.

      • Abigail

If your local Publix takes competitor coupons, that would be a great place to use it! You’d end up spending more at the PIG since they don’t double coupons and they’ll also only let you use 10 coupons per transaction to get the 10 greenbacks so unless you have some really high value coupons, you’d end up spending much more than you would at Publix. I got them too and I plan on using them on my next trip to Publix to save even more! Just a thought.

    • If I already have 4 greenbax, I can use those toward the $15 off groceries at the end of the month….right? I used 2 coupons in the store today, so now I have a total of 6 greenbax. Thanks!
