    • Proclosercc

what a great idea, yummy and thank you

    • Kristylemons

I see a few ideas for dinner! Thanks!

    • Jknabusch

great. i always go to allrecipes.com and they have a catagory called “ingredients’ where you can simply list what ever ingredients you have on hand and a recipe that coincides with it. example: i have TONS of apple sauce and cake mix, so i put those in and came up with a 6 1/2 minute microwave cake with canned fruit. One was a chocolate cake with cherry pie filling using just cake mix, cherries (canned), applesauce and 3 eggs. Mix and put on high in microwave safe bundt (i use my silicone cookware) for 6 1/2 minutes. Done. WOW GOOD!!!! check it out!

I absolutely love this! I now have dinner plans for the whole week and on a budget. Thanks and please do this again!

    • Jen Tharp

Yes, this is a great idea to post these, thank you so much!

    • meagan

You already do so much for us, and now you're posting meal plans on a budget too? You rock! MMMmmmm.. cilantro chicken sounds yummy.

    • Lprvs

these are great! can't wait to try them..
I wanted to add my own frugul tip about the cilantro….
When you buy the bunch, chances are you will have more than enough left!
The best way I've found to save it for future use is to chop it up, put it in ice trays, cover in water and freeze! then all you ahve to do is toss into the recipie next time you cook! They stay just as fresh and noone will know!

      • Amanda Y.

I don't even have a publix, but I LOVE this idea / kind of post! It won't let me post for some reason, so I had to reply to someone else's!!! AND thank you so much LPRVS for the cilantro freezing tip–I can never use it all fast enough, so that is fantastic idea!

        • Mel

Another idea for the cilantro is to make this Mexican Rice if/when anyone does the Ortega meal:

          http://www.food.com/recipe/mexican-rice-117892

It’s delish! Tastes like the rice they make at Mexican Restuarants! Try it! I’m using up all that cheap Mahatma long grain rice from Publix deals along with some garden tomatoes. Yummmmy!

        • Lprvs

Your so welcome. It works for all kinds of herbs, not just cilantro…. chives, parsley… all herbs :)

    • JaxCinderella

Actually, you can get the bottom round roast – fat trimmed and ground twice. It serves as a lean meat ground beef substitute. That's all I buy. So now you can make the mexican on sale too! :)

    • Khowell

Do you get to do anything else besides help the rest of us run our families in this yucky economy? You are so awesome, I totally thank God for you. Really, I do. Thanks for everything. Hope He blesses you like you bless all of us.

    • Irelandillman

So helpful – love all the links. Thanks!

    • Germaine Jenkins

I made salmon/tuna croquettes – rinsed and drained salmon and tuna, sauteed garlic, onions and celery mixed with potato flakes, light mayo, honey mustard, dill and a little celery seed – on toasted whole wheat bread with a roasted red pepper aioli – light mayo, 2 jarred roasted peppers, mustard, cider vinegar and 1 tsp brown sugar – and homemade (skin on) potato chips – thin sliced potatoes lightly tossed in veg oil, salt and pepper roasted in the oven on Tuesday night.

99 cent chicken drumsticks and thighs inspired me to make an Italian dish – chicken cacciatore. Will retry a Brazilian fish stew (moqueca de peixe) in the next week or so.

I absolutely LOVE this menu idea! I don’t have a Publix near me though. I shop at Bi Lo and Harris Teeter. Bi Lo is my preference. I so much want to do a menu plan for Bi Lo so that I can have complete meal ingredients for the next week but need help. I want to buy what’s on sale that I have coupons for. Can you help?

    • Ebelyeu

      Love this!!! Thank you:)

That site for weight watchers is out of this world! We are trying to start that but I need to relearn how to cook and am struggling to support my husband in his need to lose weight. You answered my prayer Jenny with that link. Thank you!

    • Couponkelly75

Jenny, you already do so much for my family with your site and now adding recipes that go with the weekly sales….wow!!!! Thank you so much.

This may not be the best place to post – but, I'd really like to see some sort of coupon etiquette commentary posted. I don't know if people are getting it that it's not okay to take half the stack of coupon piles. Even 10 is too many. The publix I shop at has had such trouble with this happening that they now have to hold them all behind the counter. And when I went in the store to buy a newspaper today, they only had one more that was “damaged.” I told her that was no problem since I only needed the coupons. She let me know that was the problem – someone had come through and stole the coupons from inside! I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this as well – but, I don't think it's okay to mess things up for everyone else. Any thoughts on this? I'm not in any way trying to sound rude. I just want to make people aware that it's affecting others.

      • Anjulgerl

I just want to reiterate that I am so thankful for all Jenny does on this site! It is so helpful during this hard financial time. I would hate for couponers to get a bad name even though she works so hard!

    • R Downs

I agree this is Great, thanks :)

    • Manyjunks

Awesome!!!! This is great! Thanks a ton!

    • Melissa

The hardest thing for me to do is come up with a menu using sale items. Having examples is so fantastic! Thank you so much!
