We have had a busy day in Atlanta and I ended it with a quick run to Publix on my way home from a great workshop.  In case you don’t have a favorite Publix and live in Atlanta I know where mine would be.  Everywhere I looked tonight there were coupons!!  I’m pretty sure I was at Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw.  Want to see my stash from tonight?

coupons-in-publix

What all is here?

(1) Healthy Meals Healthy Kids booklet
(1) Stockpiling Spree Flyer
(1) Bayer $15 savings booklet
$5 off A1C Now Test
Free Hungry Jack Pancake Mix wyb Pancake Syrup tearpad
Free Oreo Cakesters wyb Oreo Cookies tearpad
$1 any Soup wyb (2) Snyders Pretzel Sandwiches tearpad
Various coupons from red in store dispensers

How do you find all these?

At most Publix stores, you walk the store.  It is like a scavenger hunt.  Booklets aren’t in the same place in most stores so giving exact locations doesn’t really work just keep your eyes open.  If you see a booklet pick it up, thumb through if there are no coupons put it back.  If there are coupons then at most take two.  It’s a nice happy number.  Tearpads and dispensers are along all the aisles usually near the products that they are advertising.

My favorite places to look:

In the Weekly Ad turnstyle
Near the front sale displays after you enter the store
End cap displays throughout the store
Near the Pharmacy

Note:  Many stores do not put booklets out on displays any longer.  Instead they keep all booklets behind the customer service desk.  Just ask your store if they have any new coupons and they will hand you one of everything they have.

Welcome to Atlanta, Jenny! I was in the Atlantic Station store earlier today and they did not have any new coupon booklets yet (except the Viva Italia one). It's okay, though – I hit up Publix twice to three times a week ;-)

    • Is the Stockpiling Spree Flyer Publix coupons? I was able to get the last two at my store, but it doesn't actually say “Publix” on it, so I was just wondering if it's a store coupon?!
      Thanks!

      • Yes they are store coupons. Any coupon in Publix that doesn't have a barcode and only has an LU # on it is a store specific coupon.

    • Sheila

I love the Barrett Parkway Publix! They are so nice there and I have never had a problem, especially when stacking store and manufacturer Q's. I wish I could go there every week, but I live and hour and 15 minutes away (close to Chattanooga, TN).

    • Brooke82

When I go to my Publix I feel like I am that old gameshow “Supermarket Sweep”…lol. I go the day the weekly sales start and it is always a madhouse. The dispensers that spit out the coupons hardly ever have coupons and the booklets in the turnstyle are very sparse, if any. I still love em though!

    • druthb00

Don't forget the coupons stuck to items themselves. My favorite lately have been the .55 off Buddig Deli lunch meats that are stuck to the product iteself. They are on advantage buy right now 2/5 and there was a $1.00 coupon in one of the inserts a couple weeks back, as well as a $1.00 Publix coupon in Healthy Meals Healthy Kids.

      • Just so you know for next time with coupons that are on products those are manufacturer coupons too. So pick either the coupon on the box or the coupon from the sunday insert to use. 1 manaufacturer and 1 store coupon per item. Email me if you have any questions about it.

        • Oreogirl

And PLEASE don't take the peelie if you are not buying the item!

        • druthb00

Sorry, I guess my comment wasn't as specific as it should have been. I think I ended up doing it the correct way: I bought 2, used 1 peeley (the ham didn't have peeley's), used 1 manufactuer from the paper for a dollar (I didn't get 2 papers that week :P), and then 1 publix coupon. This is OK to do, right?

        • trish

I had a publix manager pull off a coupon on a item and insist that I could use a manufacturer coupon, a store coupon, and the coupon off the item. I told her that I understood I could use only one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon. She said because the manufacturer coupon and the coupon on the item were for different amounts I could use both. I didn't argue with her. I just said, “thanks”.

          • mary

Our Publix does it that way also…I too had Service Managers do that.
Believe it or not… I argued with them and they said nope this is the way we do it.
I was not going to say NO to extra $$. :-)

        • I shop at about 5 different Publix stores in my area and at each one, THEY pull off the peelies AND accept a manufacturer Q and a store Q. Have had CS do it and asst. mgr.

        • Louise McCarthy

Will Publix accept 1 store coupon and 1 Manufacturer coupon? I was told that was double couponing, but that is not my deffinition of double couponing. I would like to know about Publix in Fl.

    • You can make money in online shopping that is nothing but you can save some amount of money on your online shopping by using coupons, coupon codes, promo codes, and with some special discount and promotional offers.

    • casseyqs

Thanks for coming to Atlanta, Jenny! I really enjoyed your workshop last night. This post may inspire me to go to Publix just to look for more coupons! You are completely amazing and I hope you got some sleep last night after your workshop, Publix run and blog posting. :)

    • KK

At my closest Publix in Cocoa Beach, FL most of the booklets on the turnstyle get passed up. When the Winter Savings book was out in Nov/Dec, I took a few every time I went in and by the expiration date, they were taping the q's to the products! CB is a tourist/snowbird destination, so this may be why they don't get snatched up.

      • Esmelda

When we were in St Petersburg FL in December I noticed the same thing. The Publix on the beach had tons of booklets left (3 different kinds too), whereas the Publix stores in Gainesville were long out of them by then.

        • druthb00

Ah ha! Thank you for this great idea :) I live in St. Pete and the stores in town rarely have anything other than the Advantage Buy flyers. I'll have to remember when I'm down by the beach to pop in there and take a peak at what they have. Thank's again!

    • Nicole

I love my local Publix in Aiken SC, they never have problem with any of my coupons and I am regular saving at least 60%. This week however I saved a total of 74% and $117.00, which is my all time record. Until I went to one of Jenny's seminars I had never ever shopped at Publix, now I am in love with them. I even had on one experence where I had Kroger shopping bags and they gave me two free Publix bags to replace them.

    • Katherine Todd

Atlanta Publix customers consider yourself LUCKY! The Newnan Bullsboro Drive store makes couponing such a hassle. They've even gone as far as to put the free Booklets behind the Customer Service counter and will give out ONE-AT-A-TIME. The managers/staff act as if us couponers are taking money from them. Needless to say, I now do all my shopping at the new Publix on Lower Fayetteville now where the managers and staff are super friendly and want the “couponers” business.

      • Katherine – This situation is actually the best for you!! Them handing out one at a time means that you can at least get one with out all being taken. My store back in SC has been doing this for ages and when most stores are out of booklets I can still go in and get one because they are making sure everyone gets just one. I know it seems frustrating but in the end you will get one of most every booklet this way.

        • amyfurlong

I agree. My Publix keeps most coupons booklets/flyers behind the desk and MOST of the time it's pretty easy to get one without a wait. Sometimes I've had to wait a few minutes for someone to come to the desk. On the rare occassion that they are put out in the store the entire bunch will be gone in no time. I took 2 of the Stocking Up flyers and called my friend. By the time she got there they were all gone.

    • carmengbailey

can anyone give me an area or direction where that publix is that jenny is talking about? i'll be in atlanta this weekend and i would love to stop by there and load up on booklets, my store in b'ham never gets any!!!

      • SoniaT

It's north of Atlanta in Kennessaw. If you are on I-75 in Atlanta, just keep going north and you will see an exit for Barrett Pkwy. I'm not sure if you'd go left or right off the interstate though. I don't live there but I have a friend who used to live in that area and we used to shop on Barrett Pkwy. all the time.

      • Sheila

If you are traveling North on I-75, exit at Barrett Parkway. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto Barrett Parkway. Stay in the middle lane – the left lane forces you to turn left before getting to Publix. Turn left at Prado (traffic light). Publix will be to the right of Party City. HTH

      • 3monkeysmom

Which B'ham store are you shopping at? I go to the one on Old Springville Rd. in the Pinson/Trussville area. They always have tons of booklets. Have fun in the ATL!!!

    • DJ

Unfortunately, we have some seriously over zealous couponers in my area that like to take all the booklets and the entire tearpads and empty the blinkie machines at my Goose Creek, SC store so the in store coupons have been very hard to come by lately. I have pretty much given up finding them. I wish it weren't the case but when you go into the store in the morning and see a new tearpad of coupons, then your friend goes in to the store a few hours later to find the coupons all gone…somebody is not being a very good couponer. I will call you out in the store if I see you taking more than your 2 per visit. Sorry for the vent, but its very frustrating grocery shopping at my Px store lately. I hope everyone has a great Friday :-)

      • xseannax

I thought it was just me that couldn't find a blinkie with a coupon still in it in Goose Creek :) hehehe.

I'm all for them putting the booklets and flyers at CS and handing them out 1 per person per trip if that meant I could get my hands on one.

      • Tracey

This happens frequently at mine, also. If my publix is out of coupons (their coupons, not blinkies or tearpads), I email the customer service link on the website. I tell them that there were no more coupons at the store I visited. Usually within a week, they will send me the coupon booklet(s) I requested.

      • kelly1369

OMG!!! I shop at the Goose Creek on and I have been getting so flipping mad!!! The blinkies are always gone, all the coupon books are gone, tearpads – empty!! Grrrrr! It drives me insane!

        • rachel

I also shop in Goose Creek and I have to agree people in that area are greedy! They never have books and if they do you have to go early in the morning before the other coupon sharks get there.

          • kelly1369

Unfortunately I work so that's not possible :(

        • Lisa J.

I never see tearpads in the Goose Creek Publix! I mean, not even EMPTY ones! I had just finally decided they don't put them out in that store for whatever reason. I almost always am able to snag a blinkie or two, though. And they have the coupon booklets at customer service, all you have to do is ask. I got the Stocking Spree coupons and Healthy Meals, Healthy Kids booklet at CS this week. I tend to shop there early in the afternoon, so it's not just the early birds getting all the coupons. :)

      • CarolinaGirl80

WOW! I thought it was just me too with the Goose Creek store. I was shocked when I walked in last week and saw the Stockpiling Spree coupons. I nearly passed out as I took one. I am thinking of traveling to the store on Trolley Road to see how it is over there with coupons. Wish me luck!

        • Kris

Trolley Rd keeps their flyers at CS, and I found blinkies in the holders yesterday. The casheirs aren'tas nice though.

          • summervillegal

there is one cashier on trolley who is AWESOME. she is an older lady, short with short dark hair and glasses. she will even give you tips on finding more coupons online and will point out when there is a store coupon you missed on something you bought.

      • LeAnna

DJ..I agree completly..I shop at the same Publix, and there are very rarely and blinkies or tear pad coupons when I go in either..Come on couponers..leave some for the rest of us…after all we are all trying to save a little money..

    • Becca

We live in the ATL area and I have to take my 5 yr old shopping with me on most of my Publix trips. As you can imagine she gets bored an impatient sometimes so I have made couponing with her a game. She finds all the blinkies and tearpads and can pull one coupon. She asks the customer service desk for new fliers, and we make the mystery item a scavenger hunt, etc. They know her now and greet her and have the fliers ready. All this for a free cookie at the bakery. Such a big helper and she is learning how to save money too!

      • lenalou

That is great! I've been doing this with my 4 almost 5 (May) year old for the last 5 months. This is how long we have been couponing. It makes for a great game. she will also learn from this. I just wish I had someone to teach me. We are learning together. It's also a suprise when I go to look for my coupons for the week and, I don't think I have the match -up. Then I go to her little coupon purse that she takes and she got me the coupon. What a treat.

    • Nichole

In Jacksonville, Florida there is a store off Duval Station that is AMAZING. They are soo nice and sweet and always have booklets and customer service/cashiers/management don't make you feel guilty for using coupons like some have in Jax.

      • Shannon

I agree, Nichole. the Duval Station publix is great.

    • adri

The publix near The Varsity downtown also has a ton of coupons!

    • lillieb

I am with you, the coupons are scattered are must be requested at the customer service desk.

    • peryn

That is my store you are talking about! However, it is not perfect..I recently asked for a Viva Italia booklet and was informed if I didn't get it in the mail I was out of luck. I didn't pursue it since I wasn't sure if they had them. The store is much better with the new manager who started ~7 months ago. The previous manager Mike was awful!! This new manager actually gets on a register when it gets busy, will walk your cart to where an item is, listens to inventory issues and fixes them. There is one bad cashier for coupons-I avoid her.

      • casseyqs

The Publix at the corner of Sandy Plains and Shallowford had about every coupon book imaginable the last time I went in including Viva right next to the entrance so I came home with about 8 booklets. But one time I went in there, they said that all they ever carried were the yellow and the green and they acted like no other coupon book ever existed.

    • heatherduff

Thanks so much for coming to Atlanta this week! I enjoyed your workshop so much and learned a lot. You have a gift for communicating!

    • socoupon

Question – last week Jenny posted that there were tearpads for frozen items (I believe the Kashi meals had one). I didn't see any tearpads at my Publix in the freezer section. IF there were tearpads for these, I assume they would have either been on the freezer door or shelf, right?

    • bamavicki

I don't know WHY I have just recently discovered that Publix has so many coupons available! Just reading these blogs and becoming aware has made me think more clearly recently and thank goodness! It is quickly becoming my favorite place to shop. I never realized that you can save so much if you just plan your budget, trips and use coupons to your advantage. What a more peaceful and happy world it would be if people took the time! They'd have more money for everything. Thanks for this blog/website! :)

    • Sloan

I have been looking for a coupon for the Bayer A1C test everywhere. I didn't think there were any out there! I will be scouring Publix from now on. These tests run about $30/box, 2 tests/box, on sale… Diabetics, let me know know if you find these anywhere else. I assume that one was found near the pharmacy?

    • Audrey

I have (2)$4 on any one Prevacid 24 HR coupons + 2 “FREE Prevacid 24HR 14ct,28 ct, or 42 ct product mail-in rebate offer. Save up to $25.99.” coupons. The FREE rebate says (1) rebate per person, family, household or address. These came out of my AJC paper a couple of weeks ago and no one in my family uses them. I will be glad to send them to someone if you can use them. I will only send both to the same person because of postage cost. Hope someone can use these. I hate to throw away.

    • RozR

OMG I am so going to this store then now!! It is the same distance for me as to the Hawkins Store/Bells Ferry! I just posted in the Publix Ad Post about how that store won't get the booklets until next week. And I had such a crappy time there last night with the cashier I got I actually called and complained!!
Jenny does this store take the rite-aid, walgreens and CVS coupons? I know the one on Shallowford/Sandy Plains does but it is a bit farther out for me.
Do they know who you are when you go there? lol

    • Hi Jenny,
Glad you got to visit Kennesaw. THE BEST Publix in Kennesaw is the Baker Rd & Jiles location. In Atlanta, the Toco Hills store is AWESOME!
      Lisa D
      Kennesaw, GA

    • Andrea

I've had a hard time finding coupons in my intown Atlanta stores lately. I need to start asking at customer service. BTW, I got tickled that you called the Barrett Parkway store an Atlanta store…I have a friend that lives in Kennesaw and it seems like it takes hours to get there to visit her from Atlanta. (not really, but it is close to an hour's drive) :-)

    • missy

Trenholm Plaza had the Healthy Meals out near the door turnstyle at 11:30 am Friday. There was a nice stack. :)

    • Rebecca

With booklets and tearpads, I will take 9. Why? Because there are 9 of us (7 kids- 18m to 18y). The 1st time I shopped my Publix with a fistful of coupons I had 4 jars of Miracle Whip and the cashier thought I was insane. Got $710 worth of groceries for $172. I've bought 53 boxes of PopTarts at once; 84 boxes of Uncle Bens Country Inn rice at once; if you consider how many packages of one item it takes to feed 9 people 3 squares a day…. That's 27 meals!!!! Every day!!!!!!! I do NOT feel guilty for taking 9 booklets or coupons. I do NOT take peelies.

My store does not have these newest booklets. I'm afraid I might know who got 'em all. But that doesn't help me cuz I DON'T have any. So…. anyone have access to 9 booklets? I have a 4″ 3-ring binder stuffed to the gills with coupons to trade!

    • Traci

I love the Toco Hills Publix! They always treat me and my little guy with such kindness.

Looking forward to tomorrow's workshop in Fayetteville, Jenny!

    • astridholliman11

Usually at my Publix(Ooltewah, TN) I can get most coupon booklets(behind the customer service desk) but out of the bunch that have come out lately I've only gotten the Healthy Kids one. This week I was there twice and they had nothing at all. :(

    • I am on a mad hunt for the Multiply Your Meals booklet! I have stopped in 5 different stores this past week- about 1-3 times each and finally found the Morningstar booklet, Stocking Spree, Grape and the Healthy Kids one. Whew! A quick run in and out every time we go past one!

    • asenath

Jenny if you are ever out toward Flowery Branch the Publix on Spout Springs accepts Target coupons. You can stack manuf., Target, and Publix coupons on the same item.

    • Rachel

This was my first week using Southern Savers at several friends' suggestions. I love it so far! Thanks for all of your help and advice. However, I was very disappointed in the Publix in Birmingham – they had absolutely no coupon books. I asked at the customer service desk and said they had been out for a while. Oh well – will keep trying!! Thanks again.

    • gery220

I live in Miami, Fl. and here they are clueless regarding cpns. I actually have had to tell them wha tto do. They are very friendly and helpful, I have to say that much. I had to call coorporate this morning becuase they did not know abt the cpns that I was talking abt. The store manager where i shop was nice to call me and inform me that the only one he did not have was Multiplu Your Meal and that he was hunting it down. I was very happy that they were so nice and helpfull…However I dont think Miami stores are clued in abt how the cpn system works. I hope to get the the cpns tonight..

    • Louise McCarthy

Will Publix accept 1 store coupon and 1 Manufacturer coupon? I was told that was double couponing, but that is not my deffinition of double couponing. I would like to know about Publix in Fl.
