**Note: FL and Coastal GA stores DO NOT participate in the Penny Item**

A thought… You will not get much closer to free, so if you don’t need, like or want this item, then give it away. There are many folks that would probably love it!

    • Cheri

Orange Beach, Al also does not participate in the Penny Item program.

    • Marie

My Publix (Acworth GA) had KRAFT sliced cheese (12oz pkg).

      • Andi

Hi Marie, which Acworth Publix? I live in Acworth and usually shop at the one on Baker Road/Cowan Road. Just checking – Thanks!

    • Bethany

The Goose Creek, SC publix had Greenwise Toilet Paper as their penny item. Strange that it’s so different than the cheese!

      • Tara

I was hoping it would be hot dog buns to go with last weeks hot dogs! LOL

But seriously…the Publix in North Charleston on Dorchester Road has Publix brand sliced cheese. I just came from there a few minutes ago, and they have a big refrigerated bin full of it at the front of the store.

      • Amy

Greenwise again! Didn’t we just have that not too long ago??

      • My newspaper did not have the Penny coupon this week and I usually shop at the Goose Creek, SC store. I wonder if it was just left out of my individual paper.

        • Cindy

Mine did not have one either. I am in Blythewood SC.

          • Andrea

I thought my paper was missing the coupon too, but it was on the BACK of the Publix flyer instead of the front and didn’t look anything like the normal coupon. I would have easily missed it. Might want to check again just to be sure.

            • Tara

Sheila, at first I thought I was missing it too. (I assume you were looking through the Post and Courier as well.) It is in there in the Publix flyer exactly as Andrea described it. It is on the bottom left and does not have dotted line around it. It does not draw your eye to it, but the penny coupon is there.

        • Sherine

its on the back of the Publix pamphlet

    • Stephanie

We had hot dogs again at the Hwy 280 Publix in Birmingham.

      • i’m heading over there in a few minutes…wish they had something different this week :( guess i’ll pass on the penny item this time. not complaining though, b/c more often than not, the penny item is really good.

        • Ann

weird…just over in Trussville the publix has the cheese. Funny how just 10 miles away they can be so different.

          • sara

            Pelham…Publix CHEESE slices.

    • Cheryl

The Publix in Goose creek is taking the coupon from world market – $20.00 off of a 50 dollar purchase.

      • audrey

did they allow you to use grocery coupons as well in addition to the whole foods coupon?

        • audrey

sorry, i meant world market coupon. i wonder if maybe the cashier just didnt pay attention?

      • Tara

Wow! Do you know if the Dorchester Road Publix is doing that as well?

        • Cheryl

UPDATE: while the customer service rep. said they would take the World Market coupon, they did not accept it in person. They also are only taking 1 $5 dollar off coupon per order so if you have multiple coupons (walgreens, rite aid, save-a-lot) you’ll have to break them down into multiple orders.

          • Tara

Well, I am coming back to answer my own question. I did my grocery shopping at the Publix in North Charleston on Dorchester Road this evening. I was allowed to use my $20 World Market coupon. I would have never considered them a competitor, so would have never thought to use it. However, the cashier told me that she had seen several of those today and had no problem with me using it. In addition to that I also used a $5 Rite Aid and a $5 Walgreens coupon. My total went from $189 to $59. We had a cart full of groceries and all the stuff that we need for our Thanksgiving dinner this week.

      • Christy

Thanks Cheryl–I went to the Trolley Road/Summerville Publix armed with my World Market Coupon today and asked nicely if they would take it. I said that a friend of mine said the Goose Creek Publix did and they didn’t blink an eye and said, “Sure, we take World Market coupons.” I never would have considered them a competitor so I was really excited and will have to start looking at their flyer more often–The way I look at it, I got our $17 Thanksgiving turkey breast (hubby works retail–we stay here alone, just 3 of us) and then some for FREE!!

    • cloggersmama

I went to my Publix (Conyers, GA) yesterday to find a notice that as of December 01, they will only accept Kroger as a competitor. Anyone else finding that?

      • Laura

Same with my Publix on P’Tree Ind and McGinnis Ferry Rd. Last week the cashier nicely said the policy will change on Dec. 1st.

        • Sherine

Publix on Towne Lake – Woodstock GA will not accept Target anymore. Said they are not considered a TRUE competitor.

      • Alisa

I saw that in Conyers today too.I was not able to have my Dole coupon or my Idahoan coupon doubled, becuse that would have made it a moneymaker. But I was just there a few days ago, and had no problem doing it then.

        • Cindy

Bi LO did the to me on Friday with the BOGO Dole Pineapple. They doubled the first one but not the second one.

        • cloggersmama

I was able to use my Idahoan and Dole coupons last night. I guess it just depends on which cashier you get. I plan to use my stash of Rite-Aid coupons before December 01!

          • Melissa

I am in Nashville TN I was told last week as well they will only take Kroger and Food Lion here. That stinks. Oh well I guess I should be greatful that they do that.

            • What store do you shop at? The Maryland Farms location will take Food Lion, Target, Kroger, Harris Teeter, etc, etc, etc. :)

      • Rhonda

My publix (Bethany Bend) told me today they are NO longer accepting competitor coupons and a manufacture just PUBLIX and Mfg. No longer allowing a Target coupon stacked on a MFG. YUCK. I also was told that me and my husband each doing separate transactions one after each other were NOT eligible for 2 of the penny items last week—that it is one per family. YUCK. The head cashier saw my husband and I talking together and basically yelled at me saying “You can’t do that !!!” UGGHHH, just not worth it.

    • Laura

Is the Publix sliced cheese any good? I don’t like Kroger sliced cheese, we usually stick with Kraft. I will get it but just wondering if I should try it or just donate it on the way out of the store.

      • Crystal

I think it’s pretty good. It’s not “waxy” like the Kroger kind.

      • Stephanie

I can’t really taste the difference.

    • Ashley

I am in TN and I did not have any coupons in my paper.. anyone else having this problem?

      • Michelle in Martinez

on the front of my paper (the Augusta Chronicle) it said there were over $200 of coupons, but I didn’t get any coupons or the publix ad. :(

        • Cindy

MY paper, (The State) in SC say’s there were over $120 in coupons. I bought 2 papers as I do every Sunday and no coupons. Very dis appointed

        • Angela, in Summerville, SC

I always check each paper at the convenience store before I buy it to make sure all the coupon inserts are there. It takes an extra minute but it saves you the disappointment and $3.50 (for 2)!

      • Stacey

The penny item coupon was on the back of the Publix ad this week! It is kind of crammed in with other things…Hope that helps! I get the Nashville Tennessean, and I had all my usual ads and coupons!

      • Mindy

I got the Tennesean and only got a SS. Also got the Daily News Journal in M’boro and got pieces of a RP. I was very upset. I heard they are going to quit delivering to our area b/c we are out in the country, which really stinks!!!

    • audrey

did anyone else not find their publix weekly ad in the sunday paper 11/22? thats weird?

      • I haven’t gotten the Publix ad for the last 2 Sundays.

    • Patricia

In my Publix at Bridgemill in Canton, GA they had a display of the Chinette paper plates BOGO and it had a coupon on it that you could redeem for plastic cups.

    • Michelle

The Furman Publix in Greenville SC had frozen pizza today!

    • Andrea

Mine had a Thanksgiving Publix flyer and the 1 cent coupon was on the back instead of the front and didn’t really look like a coupon at all. I almost missed it.

    • Charles

I work at Publix and the penny coupon changes based on the amount the store sells. If the store runs out then they change it to the second least bought item in the store, usually publix brand. And many stores already accept the competitor coupons, just ask at customer service and they should tell you.

    • Anne

Watkinsville, Georgia also has store brand hotdogs today and tomorrow. Just in time for Thanksgiving?

    • Vanessa

Does anyone know anything about the Rosewood Drive Publix. I usually go to the Publix on Gervais Street, but I have had my fill with that mean, ruin, fat woman manager!!! She followed me outside to tell me that from now on they will not let you get more than one penny item for multiple transactions of ten dollars!!! What about the people who get ten of them by going to every Publix in Columbia?! I always have gotten two, one to keep and one to give away. I guess I should take my husband with me from now on so he can get one too. That happened last week. This week she would not take my $5/20 Save-a-lot coupon, which they have taken five times before?!?! She gives no leverage. She knows she sees me twice a week, so why she couldn’t tell me that for future reference they would not take then I don’t know. Totally irritated. I will never shop again when she is there. It is close enough to my house for me to just come right back home. Anyway, Rosewood ok or not?

      • CouponNERD

I’ve been to Rosewood, and it seems fine, but I usually shop at Gervais. I haven’t been able to do more than one penny item transaction per trip for several months now.
However, I did get to use my $5 Save-A-Lot Q there at Gervais last week.
Go figure. Maybe they got a lot of them coming in or something. I asked at the CS desk and was told Yes, a competitor q of up to $5 off was fine.

        • Vanessa

What i don’t understand is that I had two ten dollar transaction. They should not say anything since that is the case. I am still spending ten dollars twice at there store. I think that manager just does not like me/couponers because I have not had problems like that with any other member of there staff. I know someone who works there and apparently no one likes her. She is going to make people/couponers stop shopping there.

          • Jennifer

I hope the “fat, mean” manager doesn’t read these blogs. Just for comparison my Publix in TN only allows one mystery item per customer. Even if you separate orders or go in & out. If you continue to have issues, then call the Store Manager. I’m sure he or she would like to know about anything that would cause you to shop elsewhere.

            • Vanessa

I am not nearly as concerned with there “supposedly new” policy. I just think the way she handled it was way out of line…following me outside…and letting me know this was NOT there policy and then this week saying they don’t and have never accepted that competetor when they did last week. She was basically calling me a liar. This week I was checking out with her right there. Why could she not say something then? She is just rude or just has no sense of polite customer service. I am not one of these people who thinks “the customer is always right”, however come on…rude is rude.

    • CHS CouponMAN

      Hello All…

I am new to the whole coupon fun that I have found on this website but I have seen it work for me already at CVS and my local Publix! I do have a question though for those of you that are experts.

Will Publix (Johns Island, Savannah Hwy in Charleston) take a $5/$25 coupon for Walgreens? There is a new one right across the street and they did take a couple store coupons from me last week. Im just not sure if they will take this coupon since its not item specific.

      Also…can I use the $5/$25 and a $5/$20 from Save-A-Lot on the same trip?

      Thanks yall!!

      • Cindi

Where is everyone getting the Save A Lot coupons? I have the booklet but no $5/20 or $5/25.

        • CHS CouponMAN

          Cindi,

I printed them off the Save-a-lot website.

I could only print them one time though.

        • Vanessa

I got the coupon when i signed up for there newsletter.

    • Mrs K

The Penny Item at the Chattanooga, Tennessee Hurricane Creek Publix was their 2 liter soda (they are on sale for 50 cents this week). I was hoping for the cheese. My receipt says “Publix Single -.49”.

    • Barbara

ALERT! Publix in Summerville SC on Trolly Road will no longer double any manufacturer coupon that says do not double or triple.

      • Vanessa

The Publix on Two Notch Road is the same way.

    • Nelanie

At my Publix at Lake Oconee, Georgia I am able to use competitors coupons. I used a Target coupon yesterday and the nearest Target is about 50 miles away. It’s an awesome store and all of the employees are so nice and helpful. You also don’t need the coupons for the penny item. I actually look forward to going to the grocery store now.

    • The penny item coupon states limit one per customer, if you are the same customer you are not going to get two items if you do two transactions. Don’t try to take advantage.

    • CindyLouWho

sounds like whatever might be the lady from gervais st. :)

      • Vanessa

That is exactly what I was thinking. When I get two items I give one and sometimes both away to our church for people less fortunate anyway. It is not like I am reselling it or getting 15 of them. I talked to Customer Service at that store today and they said none of them could understand why she would say that as long as I had two ten dollar orders. (I am still spending money in their store.) They also said that their general rule of thumb is that for regular customers they tell customers that they will not accept a coupon in the future, but allow it this time. She was going to let me use it today, but they kept it on Sunday. Go figure.

    • Alisha

I was able to use the 20 off 50 World Market coupon at Publix(James Island store) without any problems. I spent $39 for $76 worth of groceries!!
