A thought… You will not get much closer to free, so if you don’t need, like or want this item, then give it away. There are many folks that would probably love it!

Oatmeal…bleh. Please let mine be something different…please let mine be something different…. :-)

    • morgan

Our Publix had oatmeal last week, I wonder if they’ll have it again this week. I wouldn’t mind.

    • Teresa-QOCD

goes great wih oatmeal cookies I make for Chrostmas.

      • Jamie

        Chrostmas….lol!

    • Michelle

Does anyone know if it’s the old-fashioned kind? I eat the old-fashioned oatmeal every day. I don’t buy the quick-cooking kind.

      • beth

Ours had both kinds to choose from.

      • Mina

We use the Old-Fashion style, as well, because we prefer the texture, but the Quick Oats work for baking and cooking.

The only ones in the bin where I went this morning were the canisters of Quick Oats. They are the same price, though; so, your store may have the other kind on display, or simply allow you to pick the Old-Fashion ones up, instead.

      • seacoastmom

The S’ville Trolley Rd Publix had both kinds this morning. We had some from the B1G1 Quaker deal a few weeks ago so I have one more thing for Palmetto House :-)

I got some Dukes Mayo too so my extra Kraft Mayo goes there too!

Thanks Jenny for all you do. And thank you very much for your “thoughts” regarding the penny item. I am surprised each week by the number that are less than excited about the one cent item. Publix shoppers: Please take advantage of the one cent item. Please give it away! Have you ever been hungry? Have you ever gone to the pantry to try to prepare a meal for your children to only find it empty. Have you ever wondered how you would feed your helpless children because you had no money to buy groceries? Are there children that go to your child’s school that receive free lunch? Do you know that for many children that the free meal at school is the only meal they have all day. Yes, there are MILLIONS of AMERICAN CHILDREN that do not have enough to eat. And for many what they do eat is less than nutrious. DONATE your nutritious oatmeal to your local school, church, or food bank. IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HELP THOSE AMOUNG US THAT ARE LESS FORTUNATE. SHARE THE WEALTH-START BY DONATING YOUR PENNY ITEM.

      • Stacey

You’re so right Amy. I may not need or like the penny item each week but I happily donated a lot of items this week because both of my DD’s schools were having food drives. Someone will greatly appreciate my extras.

      • Mary

I love getting the penny items! I don’t need more oatmeal, but I know the local food pantry can use it.

      • Lynn

I agree!! What a great way to contribute to the food pantry. I donate most penny items to food pantry. I don’t need that much food in my pantry, but for a penny, I can help someone else. Think of how many bowls of oatmeal that container will make. How many people that will help feed.

I grew up with the saying “beggers can’t be choosers” so stop complaining about the penny items and be grateful that you are in a position in your life where you can still be picky about what you eat and what you feed your children!! Not everyone has that luxury!

      • Well said, Amy! It is (essentially) FREE!!! Imagine all the complaining if they decided to do away with the penny item…

I plan a trip to Publix every week just to pick up the penny item, even if I know I don’t need it…I know someone else will. My Publix was actually asking people as they checked out if they wanted to include the penny item if they made the required purchase and didn’t already pick it up, and if they didn’t want it, could Publix put it in their food drive box! How awesome! I volunteered to take someone’s to the food bank with my stuff, and our Publix said that they had set up their own collection box for items like this to save people the trip. Love, love, love my store!!!

        • TL

I was volunteering at our local food bank last week and smiled when I saw all of the publix penny items from the last few weeks that had been donated!!!

      • Deana

I couldn’t have said it better!!! You are so right. Thank you for posting this.

    • Hi there-Just wanted to say that I work part-time at Publix (AND LOVE IT) and right now they have set up the big barrel for food donations, so get the penny item and toss it in before you leave. What a great way to donate this year without breaking the bank. It’s a win-win!

    • Nicole

did everyone find their publix insert in the paper? there wasn’t an insert in mine and i went through the paper but couldn’t find it. i’m one of the strange ones who actually like oatmeal so this would be a good buy for me! i’m in columbia, sc if that matters.

      • morgan

That happened to me a couple of weeks ago! I’m in Summerville and I know that our store keeps them at the front of the store. So, you could just walk in and grab one if not ask customer service if they have any.

      • Kari

Well maybe that is why I got 5 Publix inserts today?

      • missy

Not sure where you are located in Columbia, but I always go to the Publix on Harbison Blvd and they NEVER ask for my penny item coupon. I have offered to get it out of my Sunday paper (that I’m buying) for them and they don’t want it. I know however that some stores require it. Maybe plan a trip over to Harbison if you can :)

    • Marie

The Publix on Rt. 72 in Madison is doing the 45 oz Ragu Pasta Sauce (the large plastic jar), all flavors.

      • Snppmommy

Are you saying they aren’t doing the oatmeal? They are doing the Ragu instead? I went to the Publix on County Line last week and even though they changed the item to grape juice they gave me the peanut butter like this website said. I really would rather have the oatmeal.

    • Tahsha

I was thrilled to just find out this week that although my Publix does not participate in the Penny Item (coastal GA) they will honor it if I ask for it and have something to show what it is…..Where can I find this information to print. I looked on Publix’s site, but could not find it there….would I need to find it in an online Sunday paper?

      • Jessica

go to the publix website and do a store locater use the zip code (the one for me) 30506 and you can click on the coupon in the ad and it will give you an option to print it.

        • Tahsha

          thank you

    • Shamequa

Where in the paper do i find the coupon for the penny item?? I don’t get a publix flyer in the sunday paper either. I go to the store on Wed. to get it when the new one comes out.

    • Kat

Our Publix in Smyrna, Tn had Publix brand 2 liter drinks for the penny item.

    • I’m stockpiling for Holiday baking so I’ve been hoping for a deal on oatmeal!

    • Diana

I haven’t been couponing long, so I love to read the comments. I have learned so much about finding bargains. I usually can read or guess the lingo, but “lol” still has me stumped.

Thanks Jenny. My family is amazed wheh I return from shopping now.

      • Mary

Diana, lol means laughing out loud

    • Melissa

I am hoping for publix butter next week, then with the peanut butter from last week and the oatmeal from this week, I can make Publix Penny Cookies! :)

    • ashley

Our Publix had a 4 pack of tomato soup.

    • lala

rose creek publix in woodstock ga has lysol 4 in 1 cleaner :)

    • Amy

Publix in Alabaster, AL had Publix paper towels for the penny item yesterday afternoon.

    • pharmSCgirl

Harbison’s Publix had a 4-pack of Green Giant Vegetables as the penny item tonight. What a great deal! For those who are complaining about the penny items, try waiting until Monday night because usually they are out of the original penny item by then. Just a thought.

    • kim

      Hello,
I live in Broward County, South Florida. Do you know where I can find info on the penny item? I can never seem to find it in the paper.

      Thanks
