Shelf stable dry goods are always good for food pantries.

I was thinking, “Yuck” myself and then read your comment…yup, they can use it!

Thanks for the tip Irene. I give regularly to the homeless & food pantries as well as other organizations. I try not to give them the junk that I will not eat. I prefer to give good stuff such as peanut butter, canned meats, boxed cereal, etc. God has convicted me to share from my sustinance not from my abundance. I figure they deserve the best … Plenty of other people will give their leftovers . :)

It’s fine to want to give what you like to eat, but I see no reason to pass up on donating an item you can get for free (or almost free) just because you don’t personally like it. To each their own but in my experience the Publix brand items taste just as good, if not better, than the national brands. I don’t eat boxed mac and cheese either but there are PLENTY of kids, mine included, who would love this mac and cheese if they were hungry. Likewise, I do not drink coffee, but when I can get Publix brand coffee for a penny you better bet I’m going to pick it up and donate it!  Feel free to give in whatever way you want, but it is not your place to judge how others give. Many of us rely on using Jenny’s information so we can continue to donate even on the tight budgets many of us are forced to live within right now during these tough economic times.  I know for certain God isn’t judging me on the brand of mac and cheese I donate. It’s the intention in a person’s heart that matters.

Yeah, not a great deal for me. Kroger has their store brand mac-n-cheese for about the price I pay for the newspaper to get the penny item coupon with. Oh well, maybe next week!

Check with your store, not all stores require the coupon.
