Yes!! I will have to get my husband to double with me shopping today so we can each get a penny item! Every mom knows Apple Juice is a favorite with the kiddos!! By far the best penny item Ive seen since Ive started saving a few months ago.

Does anyone know if there's a limit on these? I was in a store when they had the toilet paper for $.01 and a lady in front of me bought about 8 rolls. Also, would she have been required to have 8 Qs?

      • Mom2teenagers

There is no limit that I'm aware of but you have to spend $10 (before q's) and have the coupon to get the penny item. My stores have always made me do separate transactions to get more than one penny item. Did the penny tp lady have a bunch of groceries? Maybe your store let her get that many because they knew she would have a big bill and didn't want to do so many transactions.

I usually get the coupon for the penny item, but lately, for some reason I havent been receiving my wed paper (mental note call newspaper office) I was in publix and asked the cashier if I had to have the coupon to get the penny item and she told me normally yes but she would let me get it. So I think sometimes if you ask real nice, you just might get a yes. But, if someone is getting 8, they are going to make you have it. So, it never hurts to ask, right? :)

        • Carla

I have never had to use a coupon at my Publix in TN.

    • marie

okay on the buy 1 get 1 free..can you only get the one at half off? or do you have to get both of them? what is the penny thing? i am new to this so just trying tounderstand :)

      • Snowski824

It depends on where you live. If you live in FL you have to buy both making one free. If you live other places it just means that the item is 1/2 off and you only have to buy 1. If you have a coupon from your local Wed paper you can get a mystery item for .01 cent after a $10 (before coupons) purchase.

      • Laura

You don't have to buy both. Just buy one at half price, plus if you have a coupon, you can use it also. Publix will double any coupon up to .50.

OK. The penny item. Look in your local paper and look for a coupon that says Penny .01. Bring it in and at the register show it to the cashier and they will get your item for you and you only pay .1 for it.

      • Laura

Also, in order to get the penny item, you must purchase $10 of anything else first.

This is your items equalling $10 “BEFORE” you take your other coupons off.

Welcome to your new addiction! I highly recommend you start out by reading all of Jenny's Getting Started Guides from her links above. It depends on your area but here in SC my BOGO's each ring up half off so I can just get 1 if I wish. The penny item is an item offered by Publix on the first day of the new sale (Wednesday in my area) when you buy $10 in groceries (before coupons). The penny item coupon would be in your local paper (not the publix sales ad) the day it is offered.

      • Claire

in my store, you don't have to have the coupon. the only place the coupons are is in the subscription paper ad…not in the one in store, so they don't require you to have it.

      • Pdbt30004

You can buy just one and it will be half the price. I usually buy both, but when I want to try something like salad dressings, I buy one then go back and buy the other or 2.

I ran into my first “situation” the other day at Publix, using a Food Lion coupon. I was told that they are not a competitor, because they were not local. The nearest Food Lion is about 12 miles away. The store manager was very gracious and just said, “we don't take them, normally, but we will this time.” I never had them reject a Food Lion coupon in the past, but maybe they are getting more particular????

    • CouponBubba

At the Alabaster, AL Publix the Penny Item was not the Publix brand but Juicy Juice 100% Juice – choice of either grape, apple, or white grape.

    • Amydgriffin

Hueytown location is glass cleaner,,,, mccalla location is apple juice

I shopped at my Publix in Charleston on Saturday. When I presented my World Market $10 coupon, the cashier said that they didn't accept WM coupons anymore-at least not since February. My daughter just used a $5 WM at the same store last week. Even the manager came over and refused the coupon. has anyone else had problems?

    • Tre_mama84

My Publix was requiring a purchase of $20 to get the penny item. So no penny item for, oh well!

      • pureromancebychriste

Doesnt it say right on coupon “with $10 purchase”

    • Matt

FYI – if you go to the Knightsville (Summerville, SC) store, they say you need the coupon
