**Note: FL and Coastal GA stores DO NOT participate in the Penny Item**

A thought… You will not get much closer to free, so if you don’t need, like or want this item, then give it away. There are many folks that would probably love it!

Corn Flakes or Corn? Silly question.

    • Mlbelisle

I'm always amazed at the people in line in front of me who stand and really contemplate on whether to take the penny item or not. Usually the cashier reminds them they could give it away, but some still don't take it.

      • Cemberz2112

The only reason I don't take it sometimes is because you need to buy the newspaper to get it, so it's really 78 cents.

      • justsaying

I dont take it sometimes, its not something I am going to use and I dont someone to give it to why waste the space in my bag. Id rather leave the coupon for someone who may actually want it, silly to get something i dont want because its close to free.

Free is free, especially if they're just handing them out, in your case. I still have free Publix ground coffee in my pantry from a couple of years ago. My mom mentioned she heard about dyeing hair with coffee and tea, so could use it! My local food pantry is always grateful for any donations.

    • Bdaniel001

I didn't see the coupon in The State paper today!

      • Jn Wil345

        Me either! Bummer

    • elizabeth

I have found that if I don't have the coupon but ask if I can still get the penny item anyway, they always give it to me! This will vary by store and cashier, I'm sure, but it might not hurt to ask! (especially if they know you there)

For littlemama* It is corn flakes or frosted flakes cereal, Not CORN. :)

    • Apmsu

Be careful which Bic razor you select. The ad says “assorted varieties”, which does not mean all.

For all Midlands SS followers, I called The State's adv. dept. and was told that the Publix penny q was inadvertently left out of today's edition. They said that local stores should honor the penny item without the q. They apologized for the oversight and promised it would be in next week's edition.

    • Heather

I have never had a problem getting the penny item at highway 6 publix in Irmo SC without the Q…but they did tell me that starting next week they will require it. They are going back to their old policy.

      • Kam

Yep, they told me the same thing today. It was at least nice of them to give us a “heads up.” It was good while it lasted. They are the nicest people at that Publix!

    • kjmiller

At my Publix it is the Frosted Flakes. I picked it up, though I would have preferred the corn flakes (makes good coating for chicken).

As I was checking out, the cashier (an older woman who is often cranky with me and my coupons) remarked that her husband really liked those. I took them out of my bag and told her to take them. She remarked that “oh, no she couldn't”, but I let her know I was planning on giving them away, anyway. I was just amazed at how grateful she was (maybe she is on a realllllly limited budget). Either way, her whole attitude changed and she even remarked at how well behaved my children are (and they're not). ;)

Food pantries all over are in need right now. Cereal is always something they need, especially for families with children. This item is a great one to donate to a food pantry if you're not going to use the item yourself.

    • Kendra Brown

Publix on Harbison BLVD. in SC said the same thing about needing the Q now. =(

    • Penndaryl

I wished I had either one – corn flakes or frosted flakes…I went to the Greensprings store here in Birmingham, AL and they were offering Publix Window Cleaner as the penny item.
