It’s Wednesday again, and time for new deals at Publix!  This weekly ad starts 5/27 or 5/28 depending on your area.  It is a good week for savings this week. The prices aren’t incredibly low, but the savings will still be great.  Thanks to Paula for an early sneak peak.

Note:  Many of your coupons will expire on 5/31 so going shopping on or before Sunday might be best.

Don’t forget the Yellow Advantage Buy Deals or the Green advantage buy deals. A New Green Advantage Buy Flyer starts 5/30. Look for those deals later in the week.

Check out the Food Lion Printable coupons before you go shopping. Remember that you can use a competitor coupon for house brand items on Publix house brands.

Remember:
1. You do not have to buy 2 of the B1G1 items to get the sale price
2. If you do buy 2 items that are B1G1 make sure you use 2 coupons to get the best deal
3. Publix accepts competitors coupons (you can stack with a manufacturers coupon and a Publix coupon too)
4. You can use a store coupon and a manufacturer’s coupon on the same item
5. Most Publix locations double manufacturer coupons that are.50¢ or less

    • concerning the uncle ben’s, wouldn’t the price be lower after coupons? 1.49 bogo = 1.49 for 2, – $1/2 = .49 for 2 right? i just wanted to make sure i wasn’t doing my math wrong.

    • seacoastmom

      Jenny,

Thank You so much for all the work you do on this site! I’ve been couponing now for 2 months and am saving 50-60% every trip. This Site has inspired me to start coupon shopping for the local SPCA. I am setting aside $25 every month and am going to challenge myself to see how much we, as a family, can donate. I have sent notes to my neighbors & friends to see if I can utilize thier unused pet coupons! The Purina/Benneful Publix deal this week is great! (Won’t abuse it though!!)Your generosity of spirit is infectious!

I’ve taken the quiz for the Purina/Beneful $3.50 coupon but it won’t print!!

      Thank You AGAIN :@)

    • Dianne

There seems to be a mistake regarding the B1G1 Uncle Ben’s. If it is normally $1.99 and you use a $1/2 Q, the final cost should be .99 for both instead of .99 each. By the way, I was unable to sleep and was up way too late last night. I had no idea you burned the midnight oil(actually much later) to get these deals out so early for us. Thanks again for all you do.

    • Dianne

Sorry, but I made a mistake above (lack of sleep, I suppose). Uncle Ben’s is listed as normally $1.49. B1G1 with $1/2 Q would make it .49 for both.

    • Teri

Does anyone know what products have to be bought to get the $10 gift card?

Jenny, Can you use 2 Rite Aid q’s ($5 off $25) in one transaction spending while $50? If so, please tell me how to respond if I am questioned on this. Thanks!

    • I shopped Publix yesterday in Aiken, and was told that they wouldn’t take a Rite-Aid $5/$25, nor would they take the FL Edy’s $2 coupon. I was told that this was a change they made “last week”, but a friend of mine shopped yesterday and was able to use competitor Qs. I could see the management not considering Rite-Aid a competitor, but not taking a FLIP? It was frustrating.

    • Melanie

My Publix in Alabama no longer accepts any competitors coupons–like Target or Food Lion–as I was informed quite rudely by a cashier when I checked out last week. I did still save $114 in coupons, but as a regular shopper, was surprised at their new policy. Anyone else seeing this?

    • Lisa

Melanie- same policy here in W GA! I still can’t beat the savings, but it is a bummer!

    • Teresa

Jenny I LOVE your site. I’ve told 4 people about this site in the last week. I’m so amazed at how well stocked my groceries are and how little I’ve spent to do it! THANK YOU!!! You are the bomb!!!

I live in Madison Alabama and the Publix here still takes Rite-Aid coupons. Once about 4 weeks ago a checker told me that they no longer take them and I asked for the service desk manager (I come in often so I knew the service desk lady). When she came over she took it and I’ve not had anyone question it since then. I think if you get the wrong person they don’t like dealing with coupons and try to make it difficult but be persistent. Call your local store and ask them. Also I haven’t been back in that ladies line since then.

Teri…If I have $50 worth of groceries I break it into two transactions and they always take both. You might call your local store just to make sure.

    • Teresa

In Madison, Alabama they do take Target but we don’t have a Food Lion close so they don’t take them.

    • Jennifer

      Love your site as always.

I am wondering…can anyone help with the Beneful coupon. I keep trying to take that quiz and my answers are producing all sorts of results EXCEPT Beneful! If you took the quiz and got the Beneful Q, could you share your answers? LOL! So far my results are just not working…haven’t printed a Purina Q yet…hoping for BENEFUL!

      Thanks!

      • Jenny

        Jennifer,

It should print a coupon off any Purina Dog food and it works for Beneful made by Purina. Is it not printing that even?

    • Amanda

My Publix has never taken RA 5/$25, but I will be upset if they stop taking FLIPs. I did have a cashier give me trouble about the Bilo cereal coupon a couple days ago because it stated that it could be used “only” at Bilo and they “wouldn’t get reimbursed” for it. I pointed out that they never get reimbursed by other stores for competitor coupons. Luckily my favorite manager was on duty and okayed it.
I have heard from others, though, that Publix will stop taking the $/$$ from competitors, but since I rarely see those from stores my Publix sees as competitors anyway, it won’t be a big issues for me.

    • lynn

is that spend 50 befor or after coupons?

    • Lb

There’s a $5 off $30 publix coupon in the Birmingham News today. It’s on a single sheet of paper with the weekly ads. It has a salad on one side and a fruit salad on the other. Ejoy!

    • Jennifer

I am getting specific coupons, like Purina One and Kibbles and Chunks. But I try printing. That is just what comes up with the survey. I will try again.

      Thanks!

    • Jennifer

Nevermind. I finally saw the small print about it being good on ANY Purina brand. A DUH moment for me. LOL!

    • lynn

the sc johnson books that were in publix the other month also have a1.00 coupon for the fantastic spray

    • Becky

ABOUT THE PURINA Q: AFTER the quiz, You have to put in your zip code (step 2) and then pick a donation place (they will donate $1) and then (step 3) you have to put in either your mailing address or an email, select getting info options, and then click submit. This will take you to the Print Q page.

    • Samantha

I am having a problem finding the mustard coupon. Any ideas?

    • Lisa

There are printable coupons $1.00 off for the Taco Bell dinner kit. I’ll have to find it again. I think It was smart source with a different zip code

    • I live in Montgomery, AL and all our Publix take Food Lion and Target. Our managers are super here! They are all so kind. Some of the cashiers aren’t so great but you learn who to go to. Just remember to talk to the manager, ask them instead of the cashiers. They take CVS and Rite Aid too!

Hey, another thought, has anyone else heard that Rite Aid is closing? That is the buzz around here.

    • Lisa

      OOps…It was there..not anymore it was 32801!

    • Thanks Jenny for all your hard work!! It’s MUCH appreciated!!

Also, my Publix stopped taking the $5/25 Rite Aid q back a few weeks ago. It was nice while it lasted!

    • JMR

Wednesday’s Birmingham News has another insert with a $5 off a $30 Publix purchase! I got a mailer from Winn Dixie yesterday with four $5 off a $30 purchase coupons. Does anyone happen to know whether the Trace Crossings Publix accepts Winn Dixie as a competitor? I think the nearest one is one exit down–so probably three miles away.

    • Jennifer

Yesterday I went to buy 5 of the Cole’s garlic bread and they Publix would not double the coupon! It doubled automatically and then they hit something like “override duplicate” or something like that I could see it clearly on my screen. Ticked me off way more than $2.50 that they saved. They said “we don’t double coupons that say do not double and even the girl from customer service backed her up. Um… doesn’t pretty much every coupon say “do not double?”

I told them to take them off and then they scrutinized and read every single word on every coupon. I just love being treated like a theif. I’ve never had that happen at Publix.

    • Emily

My Publix outside Birmingham told me they will still accept competitor coupons for Rite Aid, Winn Dixie, etc. for the $/$$ coupons, but will no longer take them for specific items like the Food Lion and Target coupons are for.
Honestly, the Birmingham News keeps putting in Publix coupons for $5/30 and $5/35 that I haven’t needed to find competitor’s coupons lately!

    • Elizabeth

Why don’t I always have the coupons you list? For example, I didn’t have a chips ahoy coupon in my 5/17 SS.

    • Jennifer

I was too busy venting to say thank you so much Jenny for putting these deals together. I think I’m taking this week off of shopping except for a few select items that shouldn’t cost more than $5 or so. I just don’t have room to store things anymore! It is hard to bypass the freebies though!

    • WRL

Hey JMR can you tell me where you got the paper ? The last few times I checked the paper at the stores there was only an insert for kohls or JcPenney and no store ads of any kind.

    • Stacey

The Bi-Lo ad has a coupon for free Kashi granola bars or fruit and grain bars when you buy 3 Kashi cereals. I’m going to use this Q at Publix instead of Bi-lo since the cereal is cheaper there!

    • Jan

I can’t find the Thomas English Muffin Qs in my 5/3/09 SS. Is this the correct insert?

    • lynn

does anyone know how to get the printable coupons for coke from my cke rewards i have enough points but cant find the coupons any where any suggestion?

I cannot locate the Oscar Mayer Bacon coupons. I used the “printable” path but there was no bacon coupon…Has this happened to anyone else?

    • Laney

    • lynn

      laney me to

    • lynn

i cant print the following coupons lays fruit chillers or the dog food any suggestions?

    • Lb

JMR- How did you get the Winn Dixie mailer yesterday? Did you sign up for it to come in the mail or what? Just curious. This would be awesome to use with the Publix $5/$30 Q.

    • tonya

      good morning fellow coupon moms,

i’ve earned enough coke rewards points to get a couple of subscriptions for magazines. which ones would you reccomend for the most coupons?

      i can choose from
      REDBOOK
      BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS
      GLAMOUR
      GOOD HOUSEKEEPING

      thanks yall!

    • Laney

Glad to hear that isn’t my printer, but wish I knew how to fix it. I’ve had the same problem for several weeks but not sure if it’s just this site.

    • Sara

      Thank You Jenny!!!!
I usually clip coupons and toss them out after they expire but your site has inspired me. Yesterday I spent $103 and saved $90 – not bad considering I started with no coupons. I am so excited about my savings and your site that I’m telling everybody! Thanks again!

    • Lara

Theresa and Melanie… The Publix in Athens, AL still accepts Food Lion and Target coupons, if you wanted to hop on over there!

    • Brandy

Ok my Pubix also has Capri Suns on sale buy 2 get 1 free. I have a coupon (tear pad in Publix by the cookies) that is $2.00 off any one Nabisco Cookie and any one Capri Sun so there is a little update for you.

    • Stacey

I don’t see the $1.50/2 Kashi TLC bars on coupons.com! Could it be somewhere else?

    • Holly

I am in Trussville, Al. and my Publix in Trussville and Clay/Chalkville area still take target and any competitors. I used the Target $1 off on the pepsi’s and got them 5/$7/ $1.40 each yesterday.

Thanks Jenny for all your site and helping us save everyday.

    • Emily

Tonya – I get Better Homes and Gardens and Good Housekeeping passed to me from my MIL. Good Housekeeping seems to have more coupons, I think, but neither of them really have a lot. Good Housekeeping sometimes features a page of special CVS coupons I have used before.

Lynn – I can’t get the coupons off Coke Rewards now either! I wish they would put some truly decent rewards on there. I really like getting the coupons. Now everytime I go on there I click on the “Suggest Rewards” section and ask them to offer coupons again!

    • Looks like there are some regional deals. I can only see the ad for SC and TN, but there appears to be some variation with the back page and we don’t have the B3G1 Cokes in our ads either.

      • Jenny

Soda is always a regional deal, some areas will get Pepsi versus other getting cokes. I think it keeps the distributors happy. Normally other variations on the ad you will still find the deal when you go into your store unless it is for a regional distributed product, they just chose to market some deals in certain areas even though they offer all the deals.

    • Amy T –
I was going to try to use the $2 FLIP coupon on Edy’s last weekend, but then I noticed the coupon actually said “Eddy’s” ice cream. I assume it was a type-o by FL, but I didn’t want to take advantage of my store, so I didn’t try to use it (especially since FL isn’t technically a competitor where I live).

      Jennifer –
I’m sure there was a nicer way for the Publix employees to handle the situation, but don’t you think it’s reasonable for them to abide by the “do not double” instructions on a coupon? Usually they do automatically double. And I don’t understand why manufacturers print that phrase anyway, since it’s the store matching the discount, and it wouldn’t cost the manufacturer any more money than if the coupon weren’t doubled. But it does say “do not double” so I can’t fault stores for not doubling them.

    • Julie

      JMR,

Trace Crossing Publix does accept Winn Dixie coupons as a competitor, since there is one four miles away at Morgan Rd. HTH!

    • Michelle

Cole’s – all my coupons were doubled at Publix in Athens, AL.

English Muffins – I couldn’t find a coupon either. However, I am beginning to think my 5/03 coupons didn’t come as I have a hard time finding lots of coupons from that Sunday.

We shop several Publix, in Alabama (Athens, Co Line, Madison). I did run into a lady telling me they aren’t taking competitor grocery store coupons anymore if we don’t have that store close by – this was at Madison store. I reconfirmed yesterday at Athens that they still stack a competitor, store and manufacturer coupon. In fact, my Publix in Athens will also take military coupons that we get from Redstone….I went to the manager and asked myself. His response “if you’ll shop at my store I’ll take any coupon you want to give me.”

It is funny…it is the store policy and some people do make you feel like you are stealing! Strange people…they need to jump on the bandwagon and experience the savings for themselves!

Thanks again for all your hard work! I am reommending people to this site all the time!

    • lynn

emily iam with you on that thought maybe i wasnt looking in the right place thanks happy publix shopping all cant wait to see how you all made out sd our sale doesnt star till thurs gla

    • Michelle

Lara – thanks for posting about the food lion coupons at Athens…I just assumed they wouldn’t take them and have never tried! We are racking up several Madison/Athens/Huntsville people here….maybe we should start a coupon club and swap coupons.

    • Trish

      Jenny,
This always confuses me…If I have two $1/1 and one $1.50/3 Q’s for Emerald Nuts, can I buy 3 and use all of my coupons?

      Thanks for all you do!!

    • Jennifer

It is unreasonable for them to advertise that they double coupons and draw business in for doubling coupons and then not double them because the manufacturer, who is not affected by the doubling and does not pay for the doubling, chooses to print “do not double” on the coupon. The manufacturers really need to quit printing that on the coupons because it is none of their business if I choose to shop at a store that doubles coupons.

It is deceptive for them to say that they double coupons and then choose to only double coupons that do not say “do not double.” Most coupons say “do not double” (at least the ones that I have) so it is really not going to do me very much good if they are going to choose to override their system on a coupon that starts with “5” to prevent the automatic double and only truly double the very small percentage of coupons that do not say “do not double.” If that is going to be the case I will shop at Bi-Lo where they double up to $.60 and do not choose to override their system to cost me money.

My Publix has two Food Lions, a Target, a Bi-Lo and a Piggly Wiggly (The Pig is a little farther away… about 10 minutes) within just a few miles of them. To me, they can’t afford to tick off customers by treating them like criminals for using coupons.

They need to decide if they are going to double coupons or not because think about all the coupons that you have. Don’t most of them say “do not double?” How good of a deal are we going to be getting if they start choosing to override their system and prevent a double on all those coupons? I know I’m already considering cutting Publix. I have another option just down the street that doubles higher and TRULY doubles.

    • Jennifer

Trish, if the $1/1 coupons are store coupons or the $1.50/3 is a store coupon then you can use them together but if they are all manufacturer coupons then you have to pick one, which in this case would be the two $1/1 since that would save you more. Otherwise you would be using multiple manufacturer coupons for each item, which Publix does not allow.

    • Jennifer

Forgot to add, I had already purchased some last week and the coupons doubled. Again I ask “how about some consistancy?”

Oh and for all of those who think I am hoarding and selfish… my mother is handicapped and I shop for her household as well as mine and often shop for other family members too.

    • Tina

Trish, you can only use the coupon per how many products the coupon says you can use it for. (I’m assuming that both of your coupons are manufacturers coupons) So if you have $1.50/3, then you have to buy three. If you have $1/1, then you buy just one. If you wanted to use both of those coupons, you have to buy 4 cans of nuts. The $1.50/3 has already covered all three cans and another manufacturers coupon cannot be used. Now, if you have a store coupon to stack, that’s another story.
That probably just confused you even further…sorry

    • Coupon Confused

      Jennifer-

I completely agree with you and it seems that Publix was using the Manufacturer’s restriction not to double your coupon as an excuse. You’re correct, this is a cost to the store, not the manufacturer and if the store’s policy is to double the coupon, then it should be honored. I had a similar experience at Publix this week when the cashier refused to take my Target coupons, even though there is a Super Target within 100 yards of this Publix. After they refused my Target coupons they scrutinized every coupon and every item that I had purchased. When I got home I realized that they had not given me credit for $10 worth of coupons (which they kept) because they were so busy trying to figure out if I was ripping them off. I am considering leaving Publix as well, too much grief at the register and no consistency whatsover. Keep up the good work that you are doing for all of your family members!

    • Addie

Do the smart ones coupons really work on the weight watchers ice creams? They’re not packaged as ‘smart ones’. Just curious, that’s great if they do!

    • Jan

Helppppppppppp! I want some Thomas English Muffins coupons! :)

    • MB

      Hi Jenny,
I went to Publix today and got some Nonni’s Biscotti. The two boxes I bought had an extra .55 off coupon (for the Komen Cure foundation)… I wondered if it would work to use the $1 off plus the .55 off- so I tried it and it did work, and they were free. But now I’m wondering about the ethics of that. If the coupon says ‘limit one coupon’ but two coupons actually worked, was that the wrong thing to do? Just want to coupon on the ‘up and up’ and not try to trick publix. Thanks!
(just want to mention, too, that I told the cashier I didn’t know if it would work and was fine to just use one coupon per box)

      • Jenny

        MB,

If they were both Manufacturer coupons (had bar codes and they started with a 5 or 9) then you can only use 1 coupon per box.

    • lynn

just got two coupons 1.00 off taco bell dinner kits at smart source using 32801 for a zip code they are still there and still printing gl

    • JMR

The B’ham News I was talking about was a delivery one–Hoover edition. The Winn Dixie coupons just randomly came in the mail–actually were addressed to my husband. We have one of their store cards, but I’m almost certain it is in my name and not his. It a bi-fold postcard, about 5×7 folded with a picture of a steak on the front. I almost tossed it while going through the mail, but it said “BIG, JUICY SAVINGS $45 in FREE groceries!” on the front so I opened it up. The interior has a map with the Morgan Road WD location highlighted. I think Publix and WD must be trying hard to get all the ex-Bruno’s customers since ours just closed.

    • Clay

I too cannot find the English Muffing coupons. Also can confirm that 32801 zip code works on smartsource for the Taco Bell Dinner Kit $1 off coupon.

    • Kim

Does anyone know if the $50 for the gift certificate is before or after coupons? I can do it before coupons easily, after coupons is not so easy.

      Thanks.

      • Jenny

        Kim,

I had someone email today that called for more info to the rebate center and it does require a total of at least $50 after coupons and sales… that knocks it out for most of us!

    • lynn

lol kim was thinking the same thing same with the 10 in certain products can do it before coupons but not after if any one knows the answere to this one please let me know ..

    • Jenn

Thanks so much for the heads up on the $1.00 off Taco Bell coupon. I bought one today without a coupon; now I’ll go back and get two more!!

    • Publix Employee

Ladies, I am a Publix employee and someone who likes to save money.
I know I may upset some of you off with this:

Some of us scrutinize coupons more so than others, especially when there are a lot with an order. We experience a great deal of coupon fraud, that is people passing expired coupons, coupons for more items than purchased, counterfeit internet coupons–and best of all, the people that purchase, use coupons, then return products for full value. You may think, what’s the big deal, they get their money anyway. Well it upsets us off when we get taken advantage of.

As to whether or not the store will honor competitor coupons…you need to speak with the store manager because it really is up to them.

And don’t get upset with the cashier. If they’re rude, talk to the customer service manager. If the coupon says “do not double”, the cashier may stop it–but most never even notice. BTW–I have a stack of coupons that do not say this.

The number of “couponers” we encounter is on the rise, and we’re adjusting to it. Many of us actually enjoy seeing how much customers spend vs. save, it’s like a game. Our biggest issue is with couponer’s that use Rain Checks with 30 or more written in for quantity. Then we are losing money. My store won’t even write them for that much. What can you possibly do with 50 bottles of A1 Steaksauce.

If you regularly shop at a particular Publix, get to know the store manager. Find out what the manager will accept and you nip any problems in the bud. Please be kind to the cashiers, they are just doing their job.

    • Mary

Thanks Clay for the taco bell, I’ve been trading all week to get these!! LOL

    • Andrea

FYI, my Publix has a display for the new Purex 3-n-1 with coupons for $2 off, would make them $2.99 this week. They were on the endcap of the detergent aisle..

    • Lizel

The Taco Bell coupon printed with no barcode?

    • tonya

thank you emily(#49) for responding to my magazine question.

    • Mina

I stopped at the store on Rosewood Dr. today. This is only the second time that I’ve been there. The first time was when they insisted that my Penny Mystery Item be taken off last, and then refused it, saying that it had to be $10 AFTER all manufacturer q’s had been taken.

They had a new surprise for me today. They are no longer accepting their own store coupons in conjunction with a manufacturer q. Customer Service agreed w/the cashier. The cashier said they had received a letter from corporate today, and their wording, “not to be used in conjunction with any other coupon” that they have printed in all of their Advantage Buy fliers, means that if a customer uses a Publix q, they are not allowed to use any others, and since almost every manufacturer q contains wording to the effect of Only one coupon per purchase, they are effectively eliminating stacking.

I’d like to hear from other areas to find out if it is just that one particular store, or if this is REALLY a corporate directive like the Rosewood Dr. store says.

Oh, it wasn’t a case where I’d get overage on the item, or even get it nearly free. The two together just brought it to a price where I’m willing to pay.

    • NEWSFLASH! My husband went to the Publix here in Homewood, AL tonight to pick up some rice for dinner (I had already done my big shopping this week). He said that there are signs on the registers that say “Publix will no longer accept coupons for free items (BOGO). I assume that means that if an item is BOGO, they will only accept one coupon for 2 identical BOGO items. If this is the case, I am very concerned and upset. Any Birmingham/Homewood, AL shoppers experience this today? If you are doing your shopping there tomorrow, please ask them to explain this new policy. We are talking about manufacturer coupons so I cannot imagine why they would make this new policy. Please post back if you find an answer. I can’t go back the rest of this week due to lack of childcare!

    • Thank you Autumn-Rose for the link to the Purity coupon. We’ll be using that.
      Rai

    • Gretchen

Our publix in metro ATL doesn’t consider Target or Rite Aid to be competitors, and we don’t have Winn Dixie, Food Lion or anything like that. Our Publix does take Kroger competitors.

I don’t think it is fair to expect publix to take more than one 5/25 competitor coupon at a time.

Re: the conversation about coupons not doubling. I think if a coupon starts with a 5 or a 9 especially, then it will not double. This was the case with the sugar coupons about a month ago. You win some, you lose some!

    • Kimberley Ackerson

I am a regular at the Trace Crossings Publix questioned earlier and have never, & I mean never, encountered difficulty using coupons including competitors. They have taken Winn Dixie, KMart(noted for groceries on coupon), and Piggly Wiggly. To comment on the Publix employee’s note, it is indeed sad to hear that some are abusing the coupon policy, making it harder and harder for those of us using them legitimately. I am unsure about the BOGO issue noted in #80 but at the store I frequent, it really is not a true BOGO. Rather, each item is 1/2 of the original price. A super deal if you only have one coupon.

    • Donna Whalen

My Publix here in Suwanee Ga stopped taking Target and Food Lion coupons but lo and behold when I was out the other day…Food Lion is coming to town!! Very excited!

It seems Publix is slowly changing their policies slowly all over but are not consistant depending on the cashier and the manager on duty. It seems they are not liking us couponers.

    • Robin

For the record, here in waaaay south Ga, Valdosta to be precise, at my Publix, they still accept the $5/$25 Rite-Aide Q’s or CVS Q’s, etc, as long as the company has a store here in town. They also accept Food Lion Q’s even tho we DON’T have a Food Lion but we do have multiple Harvey’s located here(and that’s strange since Harvey’s won’t accept FL Q’s!). We are also allowed to still stack our Q’s here at this location as well, be it store Q’s, manf Q’s or comp Q’s.
However, they don’t participate in the Mystery Penny item nor do they double coupons.
I have no complaints with our store here in Valdosta, at times some of the cashiers do act a bit wary of me since I use alot of Q’s, but a simple call to the store Mgr and things are quickly taken care of. If I do happen to have a question regarding one of my Q’s I always go to the service desk prior to checking out and discuss it with them first.
Thanks Jenny for all your hard work, you have enabled me to stock my pantry well for my family!

    • Momof2

Has anyone tried the regular size box of Electrasol (20 count) to see if that is also ringing up as a BOGO @ $2 a box less 50 cent coupon. I remember the post from the last time electrasol was on sale & wanted to try my luck again.

    • Teri

Jenny, If I buy the Beneful which should have an overage, what do I say to the cashier who wants to lower the amount given on the q saying the product is not worth the q? In a way, it makes sense not to allow people to use a q that is worth more than the product…. I just like to be prepared. Thanks!

    • Teresa

Lara and Michelle…thank you for the heads up about the Athens Publix taking Food Lion coupons. Do they take the $5/$25 Rite-Aid coupons? Also how hard is the Publix to find in Athens? I would love to make a group to trade coupons with. Right now I’ve been donating them to a friend who owns a maternity store but they don’t always get taken and used. I always cut out all the coupons even the ones I won’t use that way someone can take advantage of the savings.

I won’t be shopping this week. My pantry and both fridges are full! Thank you Jenny! You are a blessing.

    • Karen

Just wanted to say THANKS for all the work you do to run this site and get these savings to us! I can’t tell you the number of people I have shared this website with. Also, I felt so good about the amount I saved at Publix on my last trip that we purchased groceries for a family in our class who is having financial problems right now and could lose their house. It’s nice to be able to help some one else because you’re helping your own family. Thank you, thank you, thank you for ALL that you do. Keep the savings coming!

    • Kim

And probably going to get a few more Athens, AL people. I shared this site with a couple of people today when I was checking out. Had a real “duh” moment and went shopping today. Should have waited until tomorrow so it would have applied for the gift card, but anyways…I amazed the cashier and someone waiting in line. When they asked me how, I told them to come here.

And Michelle, I’ve had the Madison store refuse competitor’s coupons from everyone. And give me issues over prices and getting products in. Having shopped at Publix for years, I was actually surprised by the attitudes in that store. I no longer shop at that store. My mother, who doesn’t use coupons, won’t shop there anymore either because of the bad customer service attitude. Either Harvest or Athens have stores that are much more friendly and helpful (and don’t make you feel like a villian for having coupons!). The cashiers at both those stores are great. Even if they have a question or are checking the coupons, they are polite and friendly.

    • Mina

Two of my sons and I tried the Special K cereal bars vs. Publix cereal bars today. Our opinion was unanimous, even though the words we used to describe them varied. Comments ranged from, “Not what I expected,” to “Nasty!” Publix won in that it was “less nasty,” but both seemed sickeningly sweet and sticky, which was not at all like I would expect from something with the Special K name on it. The “fruits” in them aren’t really blueberries or strawberries. They are primarily sugar with bits of cranberry mixed in, and then flavored with fruit juices. They actually made me hungry, craving something salty or meaty to balance them out.

If your preferences tend toward granola or un-presweetened cereal with fruit, these are not for you. If you prefer food that is very sweet and sticky, but not filling, you’ll probably really like them both.

    • If you are wondering why you are having trouble finding coupons, it is usually because they are regional….I did’t get the Thomas English muffins ones either, and I have several of those inserts! It’s frustrating at first when you can’t find a coupon, but you’ll get used to the fact that they are regional! If you ever want a coupon that didn’t come in your inserts, there are coupon clipping services, like on eBay and other sites or trade for them on a site like Hot Coupon World. I have not ordered any so I can’t personally recommend anything! Maybe someone else can!

    • Jen

Has anyone confirmed if the Pepperidge Farm Vitality bread is included in the sale? It’s not listed and I haven’t been to the store yet. I’m considering buying some coupons on ebay if it’s included. Thanks.

    • Andrea

Overall I do love Publix and the great deals to be had, but what I’d really like is a little consistency! I would be fine if they would implement one corporate policy and stick to it at all stores. Is that so unheard of?? There are 2 Publix stores within 5 miles of my house. One takes FL and Target q’s and one doesn’t. How in the world does that make sense? It’s just frustrating never knowing what you are going to get. I’m all about following the rules….if I just knew what the rules were!

    • Paula

I am with Publix Employee on what she said. I would also like to add that if a Publix does not take Target any longer it is because Target is not considered a “traditional Grocery Store”.
We are not scrutinizing your coupons to make you feel like thieves, we do it to keep our jobs. We have many things to watch for that we never used to have. There are currently over 50 counterfiet coupons (probably more, but that is what we know of) that are floating around out there and we have to look for them.
By the way – you can be fined up to $2500 for using them if you get caught! Many of these counterfeit coupons are on ebay (which I strongly suggest you don’t buy coupons). We have to look for copies. Each IP coupon has a different number, if we come across copies (the same number over and over) we do not get reimbursed for them. We can not take them. The manufacturers put “Do Not Double” on coupons mostly to keep up with inventory – they do it for a reason. If people hoard the product because they can double the coupon then the manufacturer can not keep up with demand. They get angry at us for doing so…..so they put that on the coupon so we don’t do it. We have just had that option put on our computers.
We are tightening our “competitor” stance because of the huge rise in couponing. We loose money on other stores coupons. We also have a harder time keeping the inventory because we usually don’t know what coupons the other stores are putting out. Example: Edy’s Ice Cream. When we did our orders we had no idea Food Lion would have a coupon that would cause their customers to wipe out our shelves. We simply can’t take every known competitors coupon. I don’t know of another store that does.

Every Publix store is different in the fact that the customer base is different. The conditions around the store are different. They are being flexible to your benefit. If they go to a hard core policy and every Publix has the same rules…..you will loose.

So again (and again and again), Please check with the Customer Service staff to see what your Publix accepts BEFORE you shop so you do not get upset at the register. Call them before you put your shopping list together or stack your coupons. You will be a much happier shopper for doing so.

We are not trying to make you feel bad or like thieves or any other way but happy….we are just doing (and keeping) our jobs.

    • Paula

      Mina,
According to the “Corporate Notice” is said we do not take “IP” coupons for free items. This is mostly for items that you just get Free. We had several counterfiet IP coupons come in for a Free Roll of Reynolds Foil. We have also seen IP coupons for a Free case of cat food (also counterfiet). That is just a few of the many we have seen or know of. Some coupons (all IP that I know of) say you can get an item that is larger in $$ if you purchase something smaller in $$. Example a free side of beef if you purchase a pack of gum (only kidding, but that is an example of what people would come running to the store to do). Stores are also given the option not to take IP coupons for over $5.00. We just have to tighten up until we can figure out another way to stop this problem.
I guess the world has to change because technology does and people are learning how to steal in whole new ways. We are finding the biggerst part of the problems are with IP coupons.

    • Tiffany

Thanks once again Jenny!!! Since your workshop I have kept my goal of $50 a week for a family of four every single week (actually a few bucks short of it this week)!! I found my better deals at Publix, but hit bi-lo too since they are within a mile and a half of each other here. I think next week may even be cheaper since I stocked up on chicken at bi-lo today too!

    • Merrilyn

      Jenny,

I love, love, love this website!! Last week, I saved $142! Both the cashier and the lady in line behind me asked how I did it, so I wrote down your URL for them.

Quick question: what insert are the Sargento coupons in? That piece of information got left off!

    • Betsy

There has been alot of discussion on here about Publix policies of what they will and will not take as far as coupons go.
I had an experience a couple of weeks ago where a cashier would not take my Target coupon with my manufacturer coupon even though I had spoken with customer service in the past and they said it was okay.
When I got home, I sent an email to corporate basically asking what their coupon policy was. I didn’t hear from corporate but our local Publix manager called me on my cell to apologize.
He said that they did take competitor coupons with manufacturer coupons and that they were trying to make all the cashiers aware of all of the coupon policies. He was very nice and I haven’t had any problems since.
I think I’m like most people on this site. I want to follow the rules and do what I’m supposed to within a certain store. However, if the policy is unclear then it’s hard to do that.
Also, to the person who said that their Publix will only take one coupon for BOGO items, I don’t see how they could do that unless they start ringing items up full price for 1 item and then 0 for a second.
      Anyway, good shopping everyone!!!

    • Julia

      Robin
I didn’t know of anyone else in Valdosta who regularly used this website. I only came across it a few months ago. Nice to know about the Rite Aid $5/$25. I have never used it. I try to limit the number of outside coupons I use, because I don’t want to take advantage of the store. I usually only use one or two of them at a time. I will be using this one! I too have no complaints about the Valdosta store. Thanks for the info.

    • Update: I went to Publix (Greensprings in Homewood, AL) this morning because I needed sour cream to make a new mommy meal for a friend. I did not see any signs like my husband talked about so I assume it was the IP coupon for free items. They probably took the sign down because it was confusing. No other problems other than the only two cashiers working were not my favorites. She was not rude, but seems a tad put out with me when I use coupons. I guess I can’t win them all and just coat her with kindness!

    • Trish

      Paula and Publix Employee,
Thank you for giving some insite into Publix’s side of the whole couponing issue. Like so many others who blog here, I too don’t want to take advantage (steal) from the stores. I want to save money, and do it the right way. The information you gave helps me realize what I can do on my end to make sure that my ‘saving’ trips are good ones.

To all you cashiers out there…thank you for all you do!!! I certainly don’t want to be the reason you don’t keep your job!!!

    • JEB

I have a question…when you print coupons from http://www.coupons.com are they good for a certain period of time? Today is the 28th. Is it always a month from the date your printed it? Today I printed some that are expiring 6/27/09…if I wait and print some later on during the the week, will they expire 6/27 also, or a month from that date?

      Thanks!

      • Jenny

They are going to expire 30 days from the day that you print them.

    • gretchen

Jenny- thank you for all you do! I just got back from Publix and got 87 worth of groceries for 32! What a great feeling! And that includes several of the Blue Bell ice creams and other such “necessities.” :-)

    • Rave

I live in South Florida and think that this is a great deal.
Garrity Flashlight is on sale for $5.99 and there is BOGO coupon on the green advantage flyer. $5.99 for 2 flashlights.(Hurricane Season Stocking)
Duracell Batteries are also on sale this week. Could be good when combined with the Duracell coupons. Green Advcantage ends tomorrow too. 5/29/09.
I do not know if there are any coupons for Garrity Flashlight. I have been couponing for the past 2 months. Thanks a lot for this blog.

    • Crystal

I just wanted to say that I love this site…I am new to couponing and it helps so much.

Also, my Publix (Spring Hill, TN) takes Target coupons, however, there is a SUPER Target (including a “traditional” grocery store), right down the street from the Publix….definitely a competitor.

    • Sara

Does anyone shop at the Publix in Columbus GA next to Target on Bradley Park Dr.? If so. Do they take Target coupons? Has anyone tried? I do know they take Winn Dixie.

    • Kasi

Is there any way to print back issues of the smart source coupons?

    • Natalee

Hey to all you Athens Publix shoppers!!

Publix is very easy to find take 72 from Huntsville into Athens and it will be on your right before you get to 65.

I never shopped at Publix before coming to this website and I have been amazed at the cleanliness, friendliness and excellent stocking at our store. I would reccommend it to anyone looking for a good couponing experience. I dropped a compliment on the publix webiste about our local store and one of the managers called me today to talk about their store. He was very friendly and actually told me about their coupon policies without even knowing that I was a couponer.

    • JEB

Has anyone ever frozen the Yoplait Gogurt tubes to make like an ice pop? Sometimes I have to be sneaky chef with my daughter. Have considered freezing applesauce and yogurt..Target has some popsicle makers in the $1 section up front.

    • jenniferpy1

I have nothing negative to say about this site, I think it ROCKS and I have given the web address out in line at the grocery store many times. I don’t mind helping others do what I do too. BUT, I need to gripe a little, because what’s happening at my Publix is not fair to everyone else…..there’s a PEELIE & TEARPAD THIEF ON THE LOOSE!! Yes, I take a FEW coupons from each pad, say no more than 15 at the time usually IF it’s something I WILL shop for/use. However, over the past two weeks, this THIEF is taking ALL of the coupons but the last 2 on every single tearpad. HOW RUDE! Plus, a week ago I went in and all of the Tidy Cat had $2/1 peelies on them…approximately 30+jugs. One week later, every single peelie had been removed. The stick-um was still there, people!! I was frustrated since I had planned to pick up four jugs with the BOGO sale for the 4 cats here. Recently, all the displays that are new are often found with coupon pads missing. [Tell tale signs include glue marks and/or cardboard backing that’s been ruffed up.] The week before, there had been tons of coupon booklets at the door, probably several hundred. I picked up 10 of each since I usually shop in multiples (sometimes 10 and 20!) and trade the others or give them to family members. I know everyone has different opinions on coupon collecting, but honestly, taking ALL of them is shameful. And I know that somewhere, those coupons will wind up in the garbage rather than redeemed when they are not all used or traded. This is really disappointing. Please, please, please, if you are shopping at the Publix in Crestview, FL…for the love of God…leave some coupons for me or at least SHARE! (So go ahead & tell me I’m overreacting??) I guess the “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” is unheard of anymore. Sad, sad, sad. That is all for now…

    • Mina

Thanks, Paula. Those were the only two q’s I had given her for my entire order. Neither was an IP. One was a Publix q which I had carefully torn from their flier before checking out. The other was an obviously legitimate manufacturer’s q distributed through Smart Source. I was purchasing more items that those coupons were valid for than the number or value of the q’s. The items were regular, not sale, priced.

First, she carefully examined the one from the Advantage Buy flier, rang it up, and then handed me the other and said that the letter from corporate had instructed them that they would no longer take both a store & MQ if either said anything to the effect of “may not be used w/any other coupon” and that wording is on all of their store q’s now.

My items weren’t on BOGO sale, and neither q was an IP. When I stated (POLITELY – I’m always polite in my transactions, even if I disagree. I spend many thousands per year in stores that I like, and can always just take my business to an establishment that welcomes me. Besides, I try to make the cashier’s day happier for having waited on me) that it was my understanding that Publix policy is to accept a single MQ and a single store q, she went to CS. The CS person smiled, and said, “Sorry, we don’t allow multiple coupons if any say only one can be used.” Since both of my experiences at that particular store have been negative, I’ve already made up mind to not shop there at all, and consider it an opportunity to visit the friendly Piggly Wiggly when I’m in that area. Heck, there are no Piggy Wigs near my home, and they always have good buys on local produce.

I did call corporate early this morning to ask if there was a policy change, and have not heard from the Dist. Manager. The customer service rep that I spoke to there said that she was in Florida, and was only familiar with her local policies.

I’m just getting grouchy and frustrated from waiting for a definitive answer. I put many hours into creating my weekly lists for the stores where I shop, and matching the q’s that I actually have available and am positive are legitimate to what I would like to purchase. I try to avoid shopping during Friday and Saturday when stores are busy. I don’t want to do anything that might cause problems for my local stores, or anything that is not a completely honest purchase. My local stores know me as an almost daily customer who is easy to get along with and honest. I want to keep that relationship. (Well, ONE morning manager thinks I’m at least a little weird for going through the Sunday papers to make sure my inserts are all there before I buy them.)

The cereal bars were among other items in my order that I did not present coupons for.

Also, I LIKE that management of individual stores has the leeway to make decisions. That way they are better able to serve their own customer base, and have the flexibility to compete effectively in their own market areas. Right now, the Rosewood Dr. store is on my “stores to avoid supporting” list. Since I have at least 10 grocery stores within 10 to 15 minutes of home, and more that I pass during the day, I’d rather spend my money where I feel welcome.

      Sorry about the “book”.

    • Mina

jenniferpy1- You’re not over-reacting. There are evidently several who hit my favorite store and wipe out every peelie, tearpad, and anything else w/q’s that they can get their hands on. I do NOT have time to go from store to store hunting down the leftovers. I’ve learned to always grab a few of any tear-pad as soon as I see them, because there will be none to be found the next day. I might not have all that I feel I “need” when a good sale comes, but at least I have one or two and know that they really did exist.

I’m starting to wish that places around me would keep those things at the front desk and require people to ASK for them.

    • Linda

I am new at couponing and have become addicted. However, I find tips like (Target coupon) but I am not sure where to find it. Can you help me. (I am particularly talking about Nabisco Chips Ahoy Cookies for Publix).

I have also seen a Target mailer. I did received a mailer but the item listed was not in it. Does that mean that all mailers are not the same?

      Thanks for anyones help.

    • Lisa

Thanks again for all you do and you dedication to our cause. Just got back from Publix and Kroger. Did better at Publix than Kroger. Publix spent $21.18 saved $130.97. Kroger spent $32.78 and saved $42.10.

    • Hi all,

Is anybody else having difficulty getting “Brinks” coupons to print on their computer? I get a message that says something to the effect that the download was denied by an unspecified file??

    • Momof2

I can’t print the Taco Bell coupon. It keeps telling me to download Java even though I already have it downloaded on my computer. Any advise?

    • Willowbeth

Oh that pesky Peelie Theif has been to several stores in my area of Tampa, Temple Terrace, New Tampa. She or he only leaves ONE so you will know what you missed. Really Tacky. I used to never take peelies until I was ready to buy the item. Now when I find a peelie that I know I am going to use in a week or two I will go ahead and take what I plan to use, usually 4 or 6. Some people are just greedy. I agree, who needs 50 bottles of A-1?

    • I only take peelies that are on items that I actually purchase. I feel that taking a peelie off an item that I don’t buy is stealing but hey to each it’s own.

    • Tiffany

Thank you so much for this site. It is so helpful and I love it!
I have a question- I am in Charleston SC and some of the coupons in our Sunday paper seem to different than yours. I especially noticed it last week. You would say to pull a certain coupon from SS/10 and I would not have it. I checked with my sister and she was having the same problem. So, are the coupons we get going to be different?
Thank you for all your help!

I went to my publix today is Roswell, Ga and had the best surprise ever! Apparently Publix is resetting their stores meaning they will all look alike in the future, woohoo! But the crazy part is since they happened to have done it in my store last night they had put out bins galore of items and marked them down to either 50 cents or $2.00 I got 5 cans of formula, some enfamil some similac for $2!! I also got mylicon for 50cents, a ton of bandaids, medicines galore, some cleaning products and so on and on for a total of $68 with my total savings of $553!!!! And on top of that I actually still bought my groceries I had planned to with the help of your site and spent $8 and saved $27! The cashier told me that earlier in the evenng a man purchased 3 carts full of items for a total of $200 but saved over a $1000!!!! What an awesome night!! I joked around asking how I get in on this in the future and she said that they will be resetting two stores a week and so to call around and ask if they have reset yet and if not when they will be and shop the next day and try to get lucky again! I may just do that :)

Thanks so much for all your coupon help!

    • Kim

I went to Publix today and did the 10$ gift card deal. I called after I left the store and the people at the rebate center said that my total could be BEFORE coupons. So here are the participating products;Chef Boyardee, Hunts Ketchup, Peter Pan, Snack Pak Pudding, Van Camps, Libbys canned meats, Slim Jim, Hebrew National, Guldens, Redi Whip, Crunch and Munch, Fiddle Faddle and Marie Calleders dinners and pot pies. The rebate center number is 888-532-8999. I spoke with Shelley when I called today. I went with the Marie Callendar because it was easy. They were 4 for 10$. I know that there were also some coupons for MC but I did not have them with me so I will probably take them in tomorrow and get some $ back.

      Kim-

Which Publix in Roswell had these great deals? Is there anything left?
      Thanks for the tip!!!

    • Meredith

My publix in Pelham, AL is no longer accepting food lion or target coupons as of about a week ago. They said they would not accept food lion becuase there is not one in the state. Bummer!!

    • Mina

Meredith, that’s a very good reason to not accept them; they aren’t a local competitor. It may be disappointing that they are discontinuing acceptance, but at least they have an obviously good reason.

    • M Rose

Robin thanks for that tip—-LOVE those kind of deals!!!

      Elneeta-I am having same problem:(

    • Lb

I just called a couple of Publix’s here in the Birmingham area and they said that not all stores do a total reset. But that throughout the year, they all do resets on certain products that are not selling as well and may be discontinued from the store or products that will be replaced by a newer version or what have you. These can happen any time. The manager at the Hoover Publix said there is a shelf in the back of his store that they place their clearance items on and that he only knew of one store that would be doing a total reset in the Birmingham area and that was the one in Vestavia. At the Publix on Deerfoot they put orange or red stickers on the products or mark them with a clearance tag. This manager said the deerfoot store does this almost on a weekly basis. And from what I gathered it’s not necessarily the same products at each store. So be on the lookout!

    • Robin

The Publix I was at was on sandy plains road and highway 92 in roswell close to Woodstock. I was there at closing time and there were some things left but pretty much picked over. The lady may have said GA was the ones doing the total reset, to be honest I was in such a state of shock i was only able to half listen to her!!

    • Catherine

Just wanted to add that the Catalina machine at my Publix in Kennesaw, Ga printed this:
Buy any combination of 12″ DiGiorgo or California Pizza Kitchen pizza varieties between May 17 and June 13 and receive $5.00 off your next order!!

For when pizzas go on sale again – you don’t have to have it as a coupon, it will just print a Catalina for you. Details are: buy 3 items, get $3.00, buy 4 or more items, get $5 off your next order. All items must be purchased in one shopping order. No cash back. Offer expires June 13, 2009.

    • Catherine your Publix prints cats?!

    • Kim

I have that CAT, but mine came from Kroger??? …I think it did atleast.

    • Just finished shopping at Publix in Cola – have not had a hard time using coupons til now. The lady checking me out refused to use the Purina Beneful Dog Food coupon with the B1G1 bc it would give me overage – after politely and kindly reminding her that the manufacturer does reimburse them so they don’t lose money – she still refused – I then said she should at least reimburse to the paid amount. She finally just ran the coupon thru with much complaint – but 2 people left who were behind me and it was very uncomfortable.

She also would only reimburse the B3 G1 free Mac n Chesse to 55cents – not the $1.09 that it cost – bc that was also and B1G1 free. She basically made each coupon a really big deal after that – pulling things back out of the bags and checking prices ect… Whew!!! Glad that is over.

I did not talk with the manager bc I was with my young child – but may will go check their coupon policies on line tonight. Most of the time – they are very nice and say nothing about the coupons.

    • Elizabeth – which store was that at?

    • It was Publix at Trenholm Plaza.

    • Teri

Paula, You mentioned in an earlier post that certain q’s were known to be fraudulent. My Publix said (and showed me the letter) that the corporate office sent a letter saying that the $4 Pace q that was out recently from the game played on their website was fraudalent. Would check that out and post on here? I don’t have any more but I’d like to know if I was using fraudulent q’s.

    • lynn

remeber when shopping the clearance shlf at publix you can also use coupons on that stuff also i get some realy great deals no nonesence pany hose where in clearance this week for 89 cents and i had 3 1.00 coupons free plus overage at least once a week i have coupons for the clearance section and get things for pennies or free +

    • Dianna

Did anyone ever get the Beneful/Purina coupon to print? I have been trying since last night. I take the quiz and it keeps coming back to the same page. I have tried restarting my browser too and still no luck.

    • Publix Employee

I’ve been asking my Customer Service Manager about our official coupon policy. Basically there isn’t one with the exception of internet coupons. Each store is different based on its location, competition, and the Store Manager. So, again, just ask the store manager. Don’t be afraid to ask to speak to a manager when ringing up your order or right after. If your coupon was not used but should have been we’ll give you cash for the coupon. My store allows for coupon overage. I know it’s frustrating, for shoppers and cashiers alike.

    • Teri

Jenny, Please help me understand about the Rite Aid q’s that are accepted at some Publix’s (mine does). Today when I went, the CS lady said she was going to call about the Rite Aid q’s to see what is up with them. I decided to call myself and spoke to a man at RA who said that the q’s come only once when you sign up at MyRiteAid and that you only have access to them once. He said they are currently emailing some out as well. I asked if it was OK to use q’s printed from another web site for RA and he said that the only ones online that should be used are the 2 I have mentioned above. Is there a special deal that you know of so that you are able to make these available to us? As much as I love using these and need them to keep our family’s costs down at Publix and Rite Aid, I only want to use them if they are completely “legal”. Please help me understand. Thanks!

      • Jenny

        Teri,

The coupons I post are usually always housed at Rite Aid.com and so they are coming straight from the company. Past coupons were from the NBA page as a sponsor of some team in the NBA, but were approved by Rite Aid. There is a new one that just came out yesterday that is again housed on the Rite Aid site (meaning it is not loaded permanently here). As long as Rite Aid posts them on their site for everyone they are perfectly legitimate coupons. Hope that helps!

    • Teri

Thanks Jenny. Please tell me where on the site I can find those coupons. I have looked all over it and cannot find them. Thank you.

    • Susie-Q

I would like to encourage everyone to get to know your Publix manager, personally. I have gone to “Arnold” at the N. Charleston Publix many many times just to say hello and to clarify any questions that I have. The result of this has been above and beyond the BEST service and help anyone could ask for. As a result, he has offered for us to come as groups and he would even give us a room to gather all of our coupons together and shop together ( a girlfriends field trip, so to speak). He asks if I’ve had any trouble checking out with coupons, and I am honest with him in a positive way, when I’ve hit some resistance. I have been sharing with many about Southern Savers, and we have quite a “movement” happening. I believe the favor we have gotten is because we don’t go in with an attitude of “entitlement”. We go in with the attitude of gratefulness for the store’s management and employees. My goal when I walk into the store is to give to them things that money can’t buy, or coupons can’t save and that is encouraging conversation, friendly smiles, and a pleasant attitude. The principle “What you sow is what you reap” has proven very true. So to those of you who are frustrated, I’m sorry, but instead of fussing about what you feel you are enititled to,turn your lemons into lemonade and see if your trips don’t become just a bit sweeter. You might be surprised.

    • Tangela

      Robin
You are so right about the store here in Valdosta. I was at the store this week and had no problems using my coupons. I was able to save $136.00 and only spent $1.65 out of pocket. The store manager was great. And thanks to Jenny for this wonderful site.

    • Tracy

I noticed several times the coupons are listed as “Home Mailer.” How do I get on these mailing lists?

    • Christy-J

      Susie-Q
I agree with you! I am also in the Charleston area, and although I usually shop at the James Island Publix, I have been to a few others in the area and have found that the more polite and grateful I am, the better the experience. In the 6 months I have been using SS, I have only been denied 2 coupons, 1 was not printed well and the other was the Knox gelatin and the very young cashier was just really confused so I told here not to worry about it and took it off (I have used this coupon several times before and after this experience). I feel so lucky to be saving so much and I have found that the more grateful I am the more the cashier, managers, and all employees are helpful. Whenever I hear a negative experience I get so nervous that this will in turn force Publix to change their policy. I love Publix! Before SS I rarely went to Publix and now it’s my 1st stop!

    • lauren

I appreciate the comments from the Publix employees and I understand that in as much as we have to deal with rude cashiers, they have to deal with rude customers, but I am SICK of the certain employees who AUTOMATICALLY treat you rudely because you have coupons. You may have dealt with the fraud that other couponers commit, but at that moment It ISN’T me, it WON’T be me, each person is different. By all means check my coupons (I have nothing to hid so theres no problem there) and see what’s going on BEFORE you get an attitude which I am NOT purchasing. Just because one might be saving a ton of money does NOT mean the coupons are fraudulent or something funny’s going on. I save a lot every time I shop and it is legitimate and in thanks to this site. It’s ridiculous that when I check out I wonder if this cashier is gonna be nice or not because I have coupons. I have my q’s in order, I hand them over right away and if there is the rare one that shouldn’t be there or is wrong in some way, just explain it to me nicely. People make mistakes. Yes, we know you are doing your job (and we’re just trying to save money), I’ve heard it a million times but the problem is the attitude, can’t u understand that? Just check my q’s, show me what the questionable transaction is, and let’s resolve it quickly because odds are there’s a line behind me!! And don’t you dare act like you’re scanning my q’s and then don’t and cheat me b/c sister, I check my receipts. Repeat, this is only directed to the cashiers who have done this to me and others. I know this is harsh but I’ve had enough of it. If you don’t like to deal with coupons, then DUH don’t work in a grocery store. I WILL save my family money. I do have my favorite cashiers and I’ll wait if I have to to go through their lines. God bless you cashiers who do your job well and treat the customers with respect!!!!

    • angie

      renie

the cashier at publix on valleydale (meadowbrook, al) told me the same thing, but then the manager came over and looked at my coupons and allowed them. i am soo confused!

    • KC

When I went to Publix last week the manager asked me to ask you if you know of a certain item that is going on sale (I guess when you review the add) and think a lot of SS girls have the coupon if you could give them a heads up they could get more of the product. She gave the example of Suave shampoo….I meant to send you a note earlier but I got sick this week and forgot :-( Sorry…

    • Dana

My Publix here in Birmingham recently stopped taking Food Lion q’s (which I understand since there isn’t a FL in Alabama) BUT they also stopped taking drug store q’s AND Target q’s. They said they will only take Super Target q’s since the local Target is a Super. How ridiculous is that? Whether you print q’s off Target or Super Target web sites they are the same q’s!

    • Mandy

After looking at this site, I went to Publix expecting to be able to take advantage of the secret penny deal, and match competitor’s prices, but they told me here in Florida they don’t do that. He said a lot of the deals I was mentioning were specific to the GA state area. I know someone from college who has the website http://www.mysweetsavings.com who is constantly saying how she gets all of these groceries and only spends maybe $20. I looked at the coupons I could find through the links on this site and hers and couldn’t come up with anything that would allow me to do the same. If someone who is really good at this stated what they bought and how many of each, and where they got the coupons for it, that would be more practical for someone like me. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get food to feed everyone with the coupon here and coupon there that maybe saves 50 cents or so on a few things.
I’m taking the suggestion of stockpiling, so when there were a few buy one get on free sales on stuff I know we would eat, I bought several because eventually I’ll use them. That saved me about $20, but that was about the extent of it.
How do these people find these things and save all of this money and still get what they need? Am I missing something?

    • Just got some Family Dollar Q’s from a neighbor. Anyone know if Publix accepts those?

    • Stacey

Any idea how to find the Baked Lay and Kashi TLC bar coupons? I can’t find them at the links posted! Thanks!

    • kh

I can’t seem to find the electrosol coupons when i go to the link…any suggestions?

    • lynn

Mandy………. what part of florida are you in because i am also in florida the just out side of the tampa bay area yes it is true we dont have the penny iteam here and the price jenny lists is alot of time with the coupon being doubled and again here in florida they do not double the coupons …. but with the natch up of the coupons and using competitore coupons mainly win dixie ia m able to keep the bill around 20.00 sometime a lot less and some times a little mpre but if you need help with the florida sales please feel free to give me a shout out and i would nr glad to help you …

    • Paula

      Lauren,
I truly appologize for any cashier that ever gave you an attitude. You are so right. You should never walk away feeling badly. Now, on the cashiers side. The attitude is usually not one of contempt for the couponer. It is usually born out of fear of getting in trouble. If they see a stack of coupons come through it is a higher chance she/he will miss something and get in trouble. Also, they have to be fast. You may not give the cashier attitude, but the person behind you in line yells at her after you are done because it took her so long to check you out. Her Customer Service Front End Coordinator starts running to find other cashiers to open to keep the lines moving and that makes the cashier upset (because she will usually “get spoken to” for not letting them know the line will back up or not noticing that it did).
They are not implying you are a thief or dishonest. They are not intentionally saying “there’s that couponer again”. They love to see you save money. They are just trying to stay out of the wrath of the Customer Service Staff and other managers. You may walk away knowing you did good and you were honest (as most people are), but she may loose her job because of an honest mistake.
As our CS manager has told us. There are 100’s of people looking for jobs right now……we can replace the ones that make a lot of mistakes.

    • Paula

      Teri,
We got a stack from Corporate. The Pace coupon for $4. was in it and so were things like a free roll of Reynolds Wrap, a free case of Purina Cat food (this coupon was sold on ebay). I can’t remember all of them, I’ll have to check again. Most were for pet food. Most were for free items that you did not have to buy anything to get them.
If you stick with coupons through links (like here on Southern Savers, Publix4pennies, or IheartPublix) you will be fine. I strongly suggest that you don’t BUY IP coupons from sources like ebay. You usually get what you pay for. For those of you who do pass counterfiet coupons the fine if you are caught is very steep and it is starting to be looked at the same way counterfieting money. The law is catching up to that. I will try to write up a list, if I’m allowed to.

We also look for numbers on the coupon. Most IP coupons have #’s on each coupon. So if you have 4 coupons for an item, all the #’s should be different. We can not take copies from a copier. The manufacturer will NOT reimburse us for copies.

      Dana,
More and more Publix are not taking Target because Target is not considered a “traditional Grocery Store”. As one manager said to me, when we start selling televisions and tents – then we will start taking their coupons.

    • Michelle

Hi Athens, AL Shoppers….we are building our numbers! Teresa, did you see that someone posted how to get to the Athens store?

Coupon fraud…how do you know if they are fraud. I HAVE purchased coupons on ebay. For instance, I purchased 10 $2.00/1 similac that came out in the paper a few weekends ago. I have only purchased
real coupons…never Internet coupons. But how would I know if it is fraud????

I am definitely on the up and up and don’t want to pass anything fraudulent or take advantage of my store.

I have three computers and can print from each computer….so sometimes I can get 6 of a certain coupon. Is this fraudulent??? I rarely do this as I don’t have the room to really stockpile but for the Huggies coupon that came out a couple months ago I did print from all three computers. I looked at it as the same as if I printed it from work and home, etc.

    • Elizabeth, I had the same experience in Duncan, SC today. First time I’ve ever had a Publix cashier tell me “I will have to do these coupons differently…you can’t get more off than the price of the item.” I politely said, “I understand, but I have never had someone tell me this at Publix before….” )French’s mustard q’s for 50 and 75 cents). She called over the manager, he said “scan them” and she went about it normally. I have a feeling change is coming though. The policies here seem to flux a bit.

    • Catherine

I have had similar mixed signals at Publix. One week the cashier nearly had a stroke when she realized that the coupons would make the items free plus overage! But yesterday I asked the service manager before I went to the register about the French’s coupon. She said yes I would get the overage off the rest of my bill because the manufacture pays them face value. She acted like it was a no brainer that I would get overage! I guess some cashiers are less familiar with how it works than others.

Be careful on the Uncle Ben’s deal. Only certain flavors are BOGO. I asked an employee on that very aisle and she told me they were all on sale if the original price on all varieties was the same. Wasn’t I surprised when I looked at the bill in the car only to discover that 4 of the 6 boxes were not the BOGO price! I will be more careful next time.

At our Publix house hot dog and hamburger buns are ringing up at .89. With the FL coupon this makes them .39! :)

      Paula,
Thank you so much for posting on here from a cashier’s perspective. I recently became a Publix shopper and I have to drive across town to shop there, but I love it! The first time I went in with all my coupons the cashier was very nervous about accepting them and went back and forth to the manager several times. I sensed how stressful it was for her and I remained calm and kind and midway through the transaction I felt that she was on my side. She was patient despite the time it took and very careful. I called the manager that afternoon and told him how great she was and the kind treatment she had given me, despite the stress of it. He said that they have a reward program for their employees and she would be recognized. So I encourage everyone who has a positive experience to call you store and report it so these hard-working cashiers can be credited for that. The only grocery store I go to that checks coupons so closely is Publix. Since the others don’t accept competitor coupons they don’t have to be so careful I guess. It’s a real privilege to get to use competitor coupons at Publix, not a right, and so it’s worth the careful checking.

I suppose I am very lucky with a Publix that is FANTASTIC. I’ve been shopping there for years, and most of the employees know me. They know that I’m not committing coupon fraud and I don’t get many hassles. Of course I have my favorite cashiers, and I will gladly wait in their line rather than have to go through a line with a cashier who is not quite as coupon-friendly. I also make a point to know the name of the manager(s) I speak with about a particular coupon question or issue. That way when I go through the line if there is a question I can give the cashier the name of the manager who okayed the coupon or confirmed the store policy. That seems to make a big difference. Also, it has been my personal experience over the years that shopping during the day tends to make my couponing easier. The cashiers that have been with the company the longest seem to work day shift (I’m assuming because it’s the most desirable shift), they know me better, and they seem to be more familiar with the coupon policy. That may not be the case for every location, but it’s what I’ve found to be true with my local store. I guess what I’m saying is that it’s important to get to know the managers and employees at the store(s) you shop at the most. Once they know your face and recognize you as a honest couponer/shopper you are much less likely to run into issues.

I got Pringles ($1.34 sale price) last night at Forest Drive as Penny Item. Penny coupon took off $1.98 for pasta shells. I was happy to get chips instead and I got overage to offset the six boxes of Little Bites I bought. Thanks to Jenny I am trying to get stocked up on sale with stuff we REALLY use when it is on sale. I just need more room at my house. I had no problems using my Food Lion coupons or other coupons as well. The last two weeks my savings at Publix were over $70.

*ATLANTA COUPONERS* I live in Buckhead and I have started to receive the AJC on Thursdays delivered to my home. I do NOT subscribe to the AJC so I’m not sure why I’m receiving this paper but it has coupons in it. It is usually the same coupons that were in the previous Sunday’s AJC so you’ll have twice the savings. The name of the paper is “The Evening Edge”.

One “manager” at the Publix around here refuses to take Publix coupons and manuf. coupons together because there is a restriction on the Publix coupons now. I just avoid going to his store as a result. One thing that you all might want to ask your Publix managers is if they accept BJs coupons. Ours around here do because there are 2 BJs that they compete with for customers. You obviously only use the ones that are “off any” and not off some specific huge size, but they frequently make the items free or free with overage. For instance, there is a $2 off Nonni’s Biscotti coupon (any size) on the BJ’s website. If you are a member and have an account, you can print them off and get the biscotti free plus $1.01 in overage with the B1G1F this week. Check with your store manager to see if they might take BJs coupons because you can save a good amount with them! Hope this helps someone!

    • Christine

Also, for the Publix employee…I have had occasions when I’ve had more coupons than items due to stacking, but I’m not committing fraud. I’m following the rules of that particular store. I always show the cashier what I am stacking for each item before she rings it in. Just yesterday my cashier had to call the manager over because I had more coupons than items (from stacking), and the manager actually asked her if my savings was “all legal” or something to that effect and the cashier said “yup”. If I’m doing something wrong I’d like to know, but I’ve emailed Publix corporate and spoken to my local store manager and they have assured me that they do stack coupons and that they do accept BJs coupons. I’d really hate for a cashier to get in trouble for accepting coupons from me that they shouldn’t be accepting, though. I honestly wish that the stores would standardize their policies and have a printed policy so I could stop worrying that any particular cashier was going to get “written up” for accepting stacked coupons from me or something.

Do you stack manufacturer/competitor/store coupons still or is this supposed to be prohibited by the “one coupon per item” language that is on basically all coupons? It’s so hard to know because the manager says one thing and then the cashier says another.

FWIW, my Publix doesn’t take Target or SuperTarget coupons either. I don’t quite understand it because they are a competing grocery store around here, but whatever…I can go to Target and stack coupons there if I really want to.

So I went to Publix today with my coupons for the first time today. I am in Jacksonville, FL. When the cashier saw my coupons, she immediately called the manager over because she wasn’t sure about the buy 3 get 1 free on the mac n cheese. That was fine, I am a cashier and I understand wanting to be sure. But then I noticed the coupons weren’t doubling, so I asked the manager. Well, he got so snotty with me!! He asked where I heard that and I said it’s in the Publix coupon policy. So then he asked where I saw the coupon policy because he’s never seen. Well, that’s not my fault, but I told him I would print it out and bring it to him. He said people ask that all the time but that they do not double coupons! It was fine because most of what I was buying was coming out to pennies anyways without the doubles, but one item I probably wouldn’t have bought without the doubles but I was so flustered by his rudeness that I didn’t think to ask them to take it off.

So do they not double in Florida, or is it just this store or what?

      • Jenny

        Kristy,

Sorry but they do not double at all in Florida. They do in every other state but not FL. The other difference for FL is that you have to buy 2 of the B1G1 items because one is free and the other full price, where in every other state we only need to buy one at half price.

    • Kim

I receive the Evening Edge also, but it seems to be delivered sporadically. One Thursday I get it, the next I don’t. I tried looking on the AJC website for some sort of contact number for the Evening Edge “department”, but I’ve yet to find one.

    • Kristy

Jenny that stinks. But the manager didn’t have to be so rude about it, he could have nicely said we don’t double coupons in Florida instead of yelling at me that he had never seen the coupon policy. Made me not want to go back. Stinks that they don’t double, because the prices are also already higher than other places, and they don’t do the penny item either. Florida sucks.

    • tonya

each week at my local publix, my coupons from many links here like coupons.com, smart source.com or redplum.com have had difficulty scanning…some after 2 or 3 tries by the cashier would FINALLY scan but some even after several attempts by the cashier would NOT scan at all. the manager said they could not honor the coupon if it would not scan, so i had to take items out of my cart (embarrassing). my ink cartridge is new. the coupons look fine and the ink is dark. what am i doing wrong here?

      any advice?

by the way…all of my newspaper or magazine etc. coupons always scan perfectly. so, makes me wonder if i’m missing something on the printing avenue.

    • Jason

      Tonya,

I had the same issue last night with the taco bell dinner kit IPs, however the rest of the IPs worked for me. Rather confusing. The cashier ended up manually putting them in.

Also is it common for Publix not to have all B1G1 items marked? I didn’t see anything on the McCormick black pepper or spray and wash last night so I was hesitant to buy them. Will go back with the ad today and buy them I suppose.

    • Becky

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I’m new to this. Sent my hubby to Publix today since he was in the vicinity. Gave him a list to get Beneful, mustard and the penny item (pasta). Sadly, he forgot the pasta… But he was so excited to walk out of the store with 2 bags of FREE dog food and one bottle of FREE French’s Honey Mustard.

He said that cashier and manager were “bum-fuzzled”… They had to do some thinking and adjusting, but in the end, they worked it out! (Sadly, they didn’t have any more Original flavor Beneful…so our doggy will get to eat the Diet kind. Won’t hurt him…LOL!)

    • MiniMidgMom

Mandy, I live in Tennessee and get most of my savings from stacking coupons, and also b/c my Publix lets you buy 1 item for 1/2 price with a BOGO sale. Are there any other grocery stores in your area that are more flexible with coupons than Publix?Honestly, our Publix has higher prices on many things than Kroger or WalMart and before I started couponing I had to drive 20 minutes to go to WalMart, which I hated b/c I like Publix better and it’s only 3 miles down the road. But I was saving $30-40 a week there without coupons.

We have a Super Target and Super Kroger that both sell household goods – and in the summer our Publix (like many) sells patio furniture and lawn plants so the manager’s comment wasn’t real accurate. The grocery portion of Super Target is huge, and the regular Targets are trying to get in the game as well. Our Walgreens and CVS aalso have small grocery departments and their prices and deals are starting to rival the grocery stores but our Kroger and Publix do not consider them competitors. I feel really blessed here – I don’t know hwy the Florida stores are so different.

Lay’s chips: I have scored big with them this week! The Target printables for $1/2 helped, but I have coupons from tearpads in Publix and Kroger: get a free bag of any Lay’s chips when you buy 2 baked, $2 off Sara Lee bread when you buy 2 baked(bread is on sale for $1.99 so it’s free), $2 off when you buy 2 baked, $2 off Lay’s dip when you buy two bags – I have 4 bags of baked chips, 2 bags of regular, a dip, and two loaves of bread for less than $8, would have been less than $7 but I forgot the Target coupon the second time I went. The $2 off bread expired 5/31 but my store still has the tearpad up in the chip aisle and will take the coupon until this Saturday. Guess we’re taking baked Lay’s to the next picnic we go to!

I wound up in Publix 3 times between Sunday and Monday the penny item was different every time. I didn’t know they switched it around so much. Publix deluxe mac and cheese, the beefaroni on the con-agra list, and Hunt’s pudding.

    • Lisa

Publix was pretty good for savings this week, especially as we needed a few perishable items. Not anything frozen – not much more space.. Eggs were .99 a dozen, the Sargento Cheese was 2 for $4! I saved 87%!! Total 129.02 paid 17.71!! YEAH!
Oh’ and in front of the Tostitos chips section there were tearpads for free salsa with the purchase of 2 tostitos chips… I know they are due to BOGO soon… They expire in Sept so plenty of time. Also, I got a Winn Dixie $10 off $50 purchase – cashier had no issues, she just wanted to know where she could get one… I went to Winn Dixie for 2 things, less than $5 and it printed out?? In my area the most all the Publix stores accept FL, WD, most everyone but Target.
Also, my cashiers have never taken the coupon if overage to the exact amount, actually today my cashier took more than what the item sells for on the B3G1 free mac/cheese, she took the max on the free amount. She was being really nice. I used the Beneful coupons and it was $6 off the 5.49.. BOGO
Oh’ and one more thing – the Advil PM is only .49 with the new $3 advantage buy coupon and the printable $2. Great Deal! I think…

    • Paula

      Catherine,
Thank you for mentioning the reward to cashiers that do a good job. So many people are ready to jump on bad things and never mention the good. The associates that do well or go above and beyond get a voucher for a free lunch. It is a great reward.
If everyone could be as thoughtful as you were to care enough to mention good service…..wow – what a better world this would be.

    • Jen C.

I saw the question early on in this post but did not see an answer….has anyone had luck using the Smart Ones Weight Watcher Coupons on the WW Ice Cream? They do not say Smart Ones on the box so I was wondering if the coupons posted have actually worked.
      Thanks!

    • gretchen

I just left a nice comment about the awesome cashiers at my store on the Publix website. Hope that will help them out!

    • Kim

I have a question regarding the Natures Own bread. Is it just me or was there no Redplum insert on 3/22? I have a Smartsource insert, but there’s no Natures Own Q in it.

    • Paula

      Christine,
According to the Publix Guidelines from Corporate…..We can stack coupons. One store coupon (a competitors coupon is considered a store coupon) and a manufacturers coupon. You can either use the Publix coupon or a competitor coupon with a vendor coupon. But you can’t use all 3.
Some stores (which will soon be most stores) will not take a manufacturers coupon if it states on the store coupon “not to be used with other offers or coupons”. So be prepared for cashiers to be even more “careful” when you come through the check out. And NO it is not on most coupons…..they are basically (for right now) just looking at it on the store coupons (which can also be a competitors coupon). They are tigthening up on the coupons that say “Do Not Double”. So be prepared for that too.

    • Crystal

I used the Kraft buy three get one free Q tonight. After it was scanned the computer took off the $.49 for the free box, then it doubled it. So, I really got 2 free! The four boxes ended up being $.25 each.

    • Mina

Thanks, Paula. As much as I want shoppers to be honest and fair in their dealings, I expect the same from the stores that I deal with. If Publix states that their stores accept the coupons they issue in conjunction with MQ’s, but continues to word them in a way that prohibits that stacking, then they are intentionally misleading customers. It really tarnishes the company image in my eyes. They either need to change the wording on their q’s to eliminate ONLY combining them with any other store/competitor q’s, or just admit outright that they are no longer stacking store and MQ’s.

Their raincheck policies have been changing in my area, too. I’m not one who asks for huge amounts of a product on RC, and I seldom actually redeem them, but just getting them when items are OOS satisfies me. Two “deals” or 4 items is often not enough to go around in my family.

    • Meg

Just wanted to say thanks again to Jenny for the free dog food PLUS $1.09 I was given back from overage! Can’t beat being PAID to shop :)

    • MiniMidgMom

JEB, I sometimes when I print the coupon.com coupon within a week or two the expiration date is different, sometimes it stays the same. You just have to decide how much you want the item,if you will still use the coupon even if it doesn’t come on sale, if you want to risk the coupons’ print limit being reached if there is a good sale, and if it’s worth the cost of ink.

My Publix is sooo good! If I have a $1/2 coupon they will still let me use a $1/1 coupon. If I have $1/3 then they let me use two more coupons. Their rule seems to be one coupon per item,a bar code for a bar code. I have not tried a BOGO coupon with a BOGO sale yet, since they ring up the items at half price I’m guessing that I would just pay 1/2 price and walk out the door with two items. The last time I went I was able to use a BOGO with another MQ – the GO applied to the free item and the MQ applied to the BO.

I use about $5 in competitor’s coupons a week. I’ve asked several times for them to post signs if they ever change their policy so I’ll know when I go in the door. I call and ask about new coupon combos and scenarios before I go, or stop at the desk on the way in and always get the name of who I talk to. If person who said yes was wrong then the manager will still allow me to use the coupons that one time only. We have a lot of competitors for Publix in our area and I stay loyal to Publix for non-coupon items because their customer service is so good.

    • employee

I am also a cashier at Publix, not Customer Service or management, simply a cashier. Personally, I’ve never had a customer yell at me, but many talk down to cashiers because they refuse coupons. The honest reasons cashiers may not seem thrilled with your coupon purchases are: 1. more and more, management is breathing down our necks about coupons. A newsletter to cashiers from my store this week threatened possible termination from the store if our tills were short because of coupons. Coupons, especially competitor coupons, are actually costing the store a lot of money. 2. A lot of couponers assume they are right about the coupon simply because of what a website, not just this one, may say. The truth is, like Jenny said about stores in Florida, every store has a different policy. Corporate has almost no regulations about coupons in Publix, so management must make one that keeps the store from losing money and keeps you saving enough money to keep you coming back. 3. Honestly, though it sounds lazy and like poor customer service, sometimes at the end of a long day, a stack of coupons looming before us is the last thing we want to see. You guys know how much time and effort you put into matching coupons with the sale items. We’re expected to do this in a timely manner and with a happy face. As previously stated, we love to see you save the money, but it’s simply a pain to scrutinize every little slip of paper like our stores require that we do. So just be friendly; couponers are often some of the most friendly customers. Many don’t take the time to talk even when spoken to, but almost every customer with many coupons is willing to make small talk. Just as customers often brighten my day, I do my best to brighten yours.

We don’t double coupons that say DO NOT DOUBLE because we’re told not to. That’s the bottom line. Ask your local manager; don’t get upset with the cashier. We’re at the bottom of the totem pole. =)

I read nearly every comment on this post, and it makes me happy that so many of you are happy with our stores. However, it makes me upset that all we hear is negative feedback! Many of you mention your favorite cashier. Shoot an email to corporate and mention their name and store. Heck, they might get a pat on the back, a free sub combo, or even a raise because of it. If we get customer feedback, the cashiers who deserve praise receive it and the cashiers who don’t, well, don’t. Give names on here if you want. We don’t mind, and that way, other couponers will know who is coupon-friendly and who is not.

About B1G3 on items that are already B1G1, I always give the customer the 50% price for free. The way we are told to ring up free items is to do a price check on the item then take that much off. If the price is 1.50, it wouldn’t be right to give 3.00 off. That’s my logic anyway. Once again, if you disagree, take it up with a manager. We’ll do whatever you need to make you happy. That’s why we have signs that say “We will never knowingly disappoint you.” That means tell someone who can fix it!

    • employee

      Correction: B3G1. Wouldn’t B1G3 be great though? :)
