Ornaments may only be a couple of dollars each, but it quickly adds up. My favorite way to save on Holiday decorations is to buy them right after that Holiday. This allows you to get new things for a lot less.

Items will go 50% right after the Holiday and go up to 90% off as time passes. Remember that the longer you wait, the less selection there will be though.

It is fun the next year when you are able to open all of your new items. You are still getting brand new decorations, you just paid a lot less for them!

    • I do this along with my gift wrap and everything for next year. This year I am able to retire my pink and white tree that I’ve had since I was 15. We picked out our first family tree at Target yesterday. There was only the display left. It was perfect. Because we purchased the display we got an additional 40% off. I couldn’t believe it. My boyfriend picked out the decorations at Walmart. We covered the whole tree with ornaments for only $20. We spent $63 out the door for our new tree. We couldn’t be happier!

I like to look for the multi-pack wrapping paper at Target which often include a solid paper of a coordinating color. These are often white, blue, etc. and can be used year-round for wrapping all kinds of gifts while the Christmas print is saved for next year.

I like to get my wrapping paper too along with coordinating ribbons.

After my stockpiling of wrapping paper, bags & bows last year I’m focusing on ornaments and yard decorations this year.

Today I scored a 7 foot tall inflatable Santa $45 at Home depot, a inflatable, animated snowman from them online too for $30 (& free shipping!). Then I scored a 9 foot Christmas dog from Walgreens for $30!!!- it was on display so I think that’s why I got lucky. My twins will love it next year, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE how small the inflatables break down to!

I was shocked to see how wiped out target was this year. So I suspect my 75% off deals will be few. What a bummer.

I’ve worked at a restaurant for almost 10 years and have decorated it for christmas for the past 6. I bet my boss I could decorate the restaurant cheaper and better than the lady doing it before I did. My budget is $100 a year for the WHOLE restaurant. Garland and gift wrap go a LONG way for me and this year got lots of compliments from guests and employees on how nice it all looked.
Even when I replaced all the christmas lights for this year I only spent $60 last year for the lights, new garland, and new wrapping paper.
This year I bought a beautiful wreath, 3 packs of garland, 24 stockings, 4 big red bows, 4 rolls of gift wrap and gift box ribbon for $46 with a savings of $46. I usually get employee of the month every December cuz I save the boss lady so much $$. :)
Unfortunately there are nasty people out there this time of year and I can’t have inflatables in the foyer anymore after having had 2 stolen 2 years in a row. :(

today target had all christmas for 70% off. great deal, pre-lit 7 1/2 ft. tree is a great deal at that price.

One thing I look for is discounted wrapping paper that can be used year round. There are often blue or gold foil with swirls, dots or stripes that are not “red & green”, or star designs that are great for many occasions throughout the year.
