I just looked into this deal a little further…I put in my zip code and called one of the restaurants that came up. Even though the certificate is for $100, your food/drink total MUST be a minimum of $150 before they will accept the certificate…so your looking at and extra $50 plus the $30 you have to pay for the deal. Tip/taxes not included. Be sure to call before purchase, as each restaurant has it’s own fine print! I don’t know that the 2 of us could eat $150 worth of food in one sitting!

      • I’m pretty sure the $100 certificate will actually let you buy other vouchers for up to $100. So you could get 5 $20 ones etc. It’s not really a $100 certificate to one restaurant, but a $100 gift certificate to restaurant.com. Does that make sense?

Steph- you don’t have to use the $100 at one place in one visit. The $100 can be used for numerous gift certificates for various restaurants. I did a similar deal a couple of weeks ago, except it was $30 for 2 movie tickets and $50 in restaurant.com credit. So, we used the $50 to buy 3 gift certificates. One of them was for $25- the requirement was we had to spend a minimum of $50 to use the discount. So, our bill was $51, after tips we ended up paying $33….so this alone combined with the movie tickets payed for the $30 and we still have 2 gift certificates we haven’t redeemed yet. Just wanted to share my experience ( I was very skeptical when buying also and I’m considering buying again).

Just called my local restaurant that I was interested in and they too had an “overage”. If I were to get a $25 certificate there, I’d have to spend a minimum of $37.50 to use it, making out of pocket expense 12.50. Cool idea, but as Steph posted for a $100 certificate it’d be $150 pre certificate total.

Just got one! Awesome deal, we bought 2 $25 certificate and you have to spend $37.50 and 1 $10 spend $20. That is date night with dinner and a movie plus another date night and lunch. And I still have $40 left to spend later! Meaning min out of pocket so far is $65 + tip with savings of $84 and I still have $40 certificate for more date nights. So worth it!

susie & jenny are right. you may use your $100 to buy several smaller certificates which allows for smaller minimum purchases. it really is worth it as long as you have restaurants in your area who participate. i just used one tonight as a matter fact!
