My sister and I had a great experience at Copper (Indian Cuisine) on E. Blvd in Clt. I got a gift certificate for $2 ($25 off $35). My sister paid the remainder of our tab and we had awesome food. To get the total to $35+, she ordered a dish to go for her husband (who is from India). I would definitely recommend only buying the certificates within a few days of when you’re going to use them though. My husband and I got one for Sugar Magnolia last summer and a week after I bought it the restaurant told us they didn’t accept them anymore (after we ordered $50 of food to get the $25 off). Ouch! So with tax and tip our dinner was $65 out of pocket.
Restaurant.com was great about it though. They couldn’t do anything about what we had paid for that dinner, but they gave me $75 in gift cards that never expire so now when I want to go out, I just print the amount that I will use that day.

wow! I got $50 in gift cards for only $10!!

    • Lisa

I've never used these before. How long does it take for you to get them and how long until they expire? TIA!

      • kellie

Lisa, you print them on your home printer immediately after purchasing. they expire one year from the purchase/issue date.

        • Lisa

          thank you

    • cmann

i just tried and it said it was invalid.

      • kellie

it worked for me. worth calling costumer service – they are very helpful.

BUYER BEWARE!!! We bought a $50 one for $4 or so, and when we got to the restaurant (in Charleston SC) they had a sign on the door that said they do NOT accept them. Said it was a fraud and they had lawyers involved. I hope this won't be the case but for us, it was!

      • davahodges

That happened to me at Northshore Grille in chattanooga, TN. They wouldn't take it either. I told restaurant.com and now the non-participating restaurant is their “featured” one.

      • QwertyEmily

Really? We've had success with them at a few restaurants here in Charleston. What restaurant didn't accept them?

    • irisfaith

Has anybody found a way to make these useful in Athens, GA?

      • Gail

we used a $25 one at La Dolce Vita in Athens around Christmas! It was fantastic, and they treated us like royalty!

    • Jen

I have not had any problems using them in Charleston. I just bought several certificates the last time they were 80 percent off.

Be sure to watch the fine print about the tip. (18 percent tip added to purchase.)

    • rhocro

I heard a lot of controversy on Restaurant.com. has anyone used these coupons with success

      • Tara

We use these coupons ALL over the Charleston area and have had no issues! In fact, only one time have we ever had a restaurant actually add the 18% tip in the bill. These coupons have save us so much money when eating out. I highly recommend restaurant.com! If for some reason you do by a certificate and the restaurant is no longer accepting them (which we have never had happen), and they will give you a credit for other certificates.

I have used them in Columbia and never had any problem. You do have to be careful sometimes about holidays (Valentine's or etc.) because they won't take them, but exceptions like that are always listed in the “fine print” when you buy them–be sure to read that part because wine is usually not included, etc. and there is usually a minimum purchase amount.

As always with certificates, PLEASE be sure to tip on the full amount of the bill BEFORE the discount. Your server has done the same amount of work, whether or not you get a discount!
