Are you buying a Father’s day gift this year?  If not, you may want to think again.  According to a survey that RetailMeNot gave, 48% of consumers surveyed believe that people spend more money on Mother’s Day Gifts that Father’s Day gifts.

Why is it that we usually put less creativity into our gifts for dad?  The 2014 edition of the RetailMeNot Shoppers Trend Report shows that people put less effort into Father’s Day gifts.  20% of people admit they get more creative with Mother’s Day.  Even though the numbers make it look like we don’t spend much on dad, the survey says they spent $61 on Father’s Day and $68 on Mother’s Day.  It’s not so far off in reality.

If you’re looking for what to get him, you don’t have to look too far.  According to the survey, gift cards and quality time with family are at the top of his list.  So, apparently you don’t need to feel too badly if you aren’t being creative this year – just spend some time with him of give him a gift card.

Did you buy him home improvement products or gaming supplies this year?  You may want to think twice before you give it to him and make sure he’ll really use it.  The survey showed that only 3% of dads are actually hoping to receive either of them as gifts.  I guess they’ve just gotten quite a few of them in the past and they’re looking for something different.  I say that we all make a pact this year to show dads some extra love this year.

Whether your dad is outdoorsy, a sports fanatic, an intellectual, or a grill master, you can find the perfect gift through RetailMeNot!  Browse the Father’s Day gift ideas page to find the perfect gift for him.
