Raising 5 girls, I think a lot about how to encourage them in building their confidence and seeing their beauty.  We all want our girls to believe that beauty is on the inside, but we don’t show them that we believe that ourselves.  Many times we also don’t tell them that in our words.  I know as they get older what their mama thinks will be less important than what the other girls say, but I want them to already view themselves as beautiful before the world starts to shape their self image.

Part of teaching them they are beautiful is them also seeing it in me.  I don’t mean that I walk around feeling gorgeous all day, because I am one of the millions of women who has a pretty rough time with body image… What I do mean though is that our girls don’t need to see us beating ourselves up constantly.  If all we talk about is the weight we need to lose, and pointing out negatives in ourselves then we are teaching them to do the same thing to their own body.  Around our house we do talk about eating healthy and we even train for 5k races together, but we don’t push dieting or even discuss things that we wish were different about our bodies.  We really don’t need to pass down to future generations the self bullying that we all struggle with!

Last year women sent over 5 million negative tweets about beauty and body image.  It only takes one positive tweet to start a new trend though.  Rite Aid and Dove are getting together to remind us that when we #speakbeautiful to ourselves, we add confidence.  If you are on twitter, I encourage you to help out with that new trend and tweet a positive beauty message to inspire confidence in yourself and others.  Let’s work together to promote confidence in each other rather than comparing each other.  Watch this video about positive messages while you’re at it.

The Deal:

Buy $12 in Dove products at Rite Aid and earn 300 Plenti Points (limit 2) through 9/26/15.  That’s equal to $3 back in points.  Remember you can also use coupons with the Plenti system.

Whether you’re looking for body wash, shampoo & conditioner or deodorant, Dove has you covered.  I like the sound of the Dove Sensitive Skin Body Wash.  You can get softer, smoother skin after only one shower.  It’s a mild body wash that’s hypoallergenic and it’s #1 dermatologist recommended.
