Before I go into this, let me warn you that I’m not crafty.  I long to be, but my stick figures could make a grown man cry.  So this is a challenge for me this week tapping into an artsy side.  Now background on our project.  I have twins, it’s a pretty known fact, and since finding out that we were pregnant I’ve always wanted a set of shirts that show this fact off.  There are lots of options out there but they are pricey!  So my husband and I both decided project #1 should be to make those shirts we’ve always wanted. We went with a Dr. Seuss reference.

We grabbed two shirts in the favorite color of each twin and then let them pick out their animal.  Using the program that comes with the machine this was so simple.  We typed out what we wanted to say, picked the font, and found a picture online that we wanted (it’s a few extra steps but you can make an outline sketch of any picture you would like).

Check out the pics.  (My husband took these and wanted to catch every step so enjoy our 10 year old ironing board and iron).

Good job! :) They're going to look so cute in those.

      Cute!

    • Amy

These are adorable! What a neat gadget!

What a great idea! This would have been great during Dr. Suess day at my kids' school. The one that I cut out of felt and used paint to write THING TWO was just pitiful!

    • Amanda

So sad I can not see pics. How old are your twins? I have 4 yr old b/g.

    • Oh man! This thing is so cool! I definitely think I need one of these!

    • JJ

My sisters were twins – they also had shirts (they were a little older, maybe 9 or 10?) that said “I'm the pretty one”

    • I have the Silhouette SD my husband got it for me for Mothers Day this year.. I LOVE Mine.. There are many things you can do with them… Great Job on the shirts I have not tried that one yet.. I have been doing home decor with mine.. Thanks for sharing

That is awesome! Pretty pricey though, even with that great deal. I just hope I win it! LOL

Thing One and Thing 2. HYSTERICAL!

    • Kris

This is too cool. I love it!!! This would be fun to use with my 4 children for crafts. Plus I'm Sunday School teacher and this would be great for crafts for them, especially holidays like Mother's Day, etc. I hope I win one, not costly for my pocketbook.

    • Kris

Sorry, I meant to say “too costly for my pocketbook”.

    • SSheila

Jenny, those shirts are too cute!!!

    • Kaminer317

i only have one child, but i call her THING (as an endearment) in reference to dr. seuss, too! LOL

      Is this like the cricket?

    • Kimberly

I have one of these. I do a lot of crafting. It is 10 times better than the cricket because you dont have to buy those expensive cartridges. You can cut from your own designs and use your current fonts which means any fonts you download for free from various sites. The shapes that Silhoutte sells are mostly 1 buck each so you can buy what you need or can afford. I love this and took my cricket back after I found this. I wish I had a coupon. If you are thinking about this deal…do it its great! Thanks Jenny!

I have two boys about 18 months apart and I found a thing one and thing two at a rummage sale. They were perfect for my boys they wore them all the time, we are passing them on to another family at church because they have outgrown them.

Quick question – how expensive is it to operate? Meaning – how often do the blades have to be replaced, how often do the cutting mats have to be replaced, etc? Just trying to figure out if it would be good to have or one of those things where you're always having to order replacement stuff for it.

I have a question about the vinyl . . . is it similar to the “wallies” wall art, that you can put on the walls but will peel off (not damaging the walls)? If so, it would be an awesome way to decorate your child's room, too.
