Spirit Airlines is stepping up their game with a big coupon code today! Use the code 50OFF to get $50 off each round-trip ticket purchase for flights between 11/16 and 3/5.

If you have an upcoming trip planned, this is a great way to save on an already discounted airline! I tested it on Thanksgiving and Christmas dates and there don’t seem to be any blackouts.

All flights must be booked by 11:59pm ET on October 22, 2012.

Just be aware Spirit charges a fee for all bags, including carry-ons. And they don’t even offer beverages.

My family didn’t have to pay for our carry ons…

Don’t fall for this! You will more than make up for that $50 in all the piddly fees they charge… not to mention service. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra money for a real airline.

Spirit is a horrible airline. I used to fly them all the time when we had to travel. Then they decided to start charging for carry ons and nickel and dime you while you get ready to board and while you are on the plane. The straw that broke the camel’s back for my family is when we were scheduled to fly out of NYC on a Friday afternoon and storms in another region prevented us from taking off. The workers were close to the scheduled time to be off (they can only fly so many hours) so they took us off the plane and then canceled our flight. We were directed to the ticket booth to reschedule our return flight…the first available they offered us was for 3 days! They couldn’t get us back home until Monday and would not pay for a hotel for us. Now I know they don’t control the weather so I can understand paying for a hotel for one night with my own money but to ask me to pay 3 nights because that is their first available flight is ridiculous! Needless to say we got our money back and rented a car to drive home and I will NEVER fly them again. Other airlines are better priced after you factor in all the extra charges with Spirit. Sorry to go on like that! Just want to warn others!
