Dave Ramsey Giveaway

Money can be a hot issue topic in a marriage.  Getting a hold on finances and organizing your budget is probably the best thing you could do in terms of spring cleaning.  Most of us have had to tighten our belts but have you really focused on where you are spending money and how??

Enter Dave Ramsey!  To me he is a rockstar helping millions of families realize what it means to be DEBT FREE.  I recently got to go and tour his offices and see him in person, it was a thrill to see fun artwork of cut up credit cards and to see (or hear) the joy as folks screamed “We’re debt free!” on his show.

He really does know about handling money and does so through a Christian perspective. He is a radio show host and also has books, CDs, DVDs and more that all are meant to help you learn how to honor God with how you use your finances.

Just think… if you took all the money you save from grocery and drugstore deals and used/saved it wisely we could all be screaming on his show in no time!!

Some of Dave Ramsey’s best tools are:

Kids Monster Pack
The Kid’s Monster Pack includes all of the tools you need to teach your kids to learn to manage money well. The set includes Financial Peace Jr., all 6 of Dave’s illustrated kids’ books, plus the new Junior’s Adventures 6 CD Audio Set. Kids really can learn about issues such as money from an early age and it is important to start teaching these things from an early age. This set is for children ages 3-12 and takes a hands-on approach to learning about money.

Financial Peace University
FPU
is great for helping families to get out of debt and save money. It teaches you how to make the right decisions with your money and empowers you to manage your money well. FPU takes easy to follow Baby Steps to help you to make progress, but not feel overwhelmed. It helps you to eliminate debt using the debt snowball, offers accountability and support, trains you to spend every dollar on paper with the zero-based budget planner, and empowers you by helping you to develop a plan. This is so helpful for anyone who is trying to get back control of their finances or manage their money well.

Starter Special
This set is a great way to get started with the Dave Ramsey system because it immerses you in the basics. Dave teaches you about his Baby Step plan in-depth, shares testimonies from other people, and teaches you step by step how to set up a cash flow plan and pay off your debt. The set includes The Total Money Makeover, Money Answer Book, Cash Flow Planning DVD, Dumping Debt DVD, Designer Red Envelope System, and Dave’s Budgeting Software.

        Our biggest financial stress is:

We are trying to get out debt-free but after my husband was layed off from two jobs in less than a year its been hard to pay more than the minimum but we are slowly trying. If we could just get that last loan payed off (it’s a big one) we could start on the investing step and saving for childrens college and start to relax again.

      • Lynn

I am self employed since a plant closing..with one in last yr college, another starting this year and not much work it is a definite struggle with the rise in prices of gas/groceries..we can control in the groceries thanks to southernsavers.com and their helpful advise but that gas is a major factor of stress..i would love his advise

      • Blonderw03

My biggest financial stress is my husband. He has NO concept of money. He buys something when he wants it, never looks at the price or our checkbook. He knows his account will cover his check and he can pay at the end of the month. It is frustrating! I've talked to him until I'm blue in the face.

I think my biggest stress is getting my husband and I on the same page when it comes to our finances. He's not a good manager and doesn't want to listen to my suggestions. I definately need some “materials” in order to get him to meet me in the middle…or a little closer to my side. :)

My biggest financial stress is that my husband was laid off for a year. He has a job now, but we had to live on our then perfect credit because my income wasn't enough. We exhausted all of it and we are now trying to pay them back/off. We have been looking at Financial Peace University for awhile, but haven't been able to buy the kit. My husband and I are trying to clean up a mess of credit card debt and pay off our 4 year old's medical bills, and thanks to learning some Dave Ramsey principles at a simulcast of his tour at our church, we've learned how to not make the same mistakes again! His books, CDs, and DVDs would surely provide the motivation and information we need to get through the long haul! I also REALLY want to train my 3 young boys to use their money wisely and never get in the situation we got into! Thank you for this giveaway!

My husband and I just got done paying off $13,000 of credit card debt (from our wedding) in one year on very meager salaries. Now I began graduate school, and am trying to not take out loans, but it is eating up all my income, so I took on a second job. Now I worry about not putting enough towards retirement, worrying if our cars are going to konk out, etc because we have no emergency fund. I would love this to try and put perspective on it all and prioritize what we should be doing.

      • i just found out that i will be losing a substantial part of out family's income and the Dave Ramsey package would be an awesome blessing in helping us figure out how to live on what we will be making until another opportunity arises to replace the lost income and get out of the debt that we are in.

      • Stefani

I am really wanting to win this giveaway. My husband and I own our own business and are homebuilders, the Lord has truly blessed us throughout this tough market correction and we have been well provided for. We also have debt in student loans! I know the DR FPU would help us get everything under control & reliev our stress!

I have a child going to college in the fall, medical bills,a eleven year old son at home. I clip coupons, watch out for deals, work sun up to sun down. My husband is total opposite than me he would spend his last dime and wonders why he cant afford to get big ticket items. Me I can strech a nickel but its so frustrating! I would love to win so he and I could do this together. I was going to go to oe of your seminars thru my church but knoew I couldnt convince him to come. if I had the kit I think it would be easier to involve him.

      • Mwalker252003

We have so many issues that Dave Ramsey could help us with, I like the idea of teaching my children about being financially smart. My son is 2, so the kit would come at almost the right time to begin with him, then we can move onto to his sister after that. Then we really need to work on college funds for the kids, plus debt snowballing and not living pay check to pay check. So many things that this whole kit would be useful for….

My husband and I have two small children (ages 2 and 5), and I also have a 17 year-old daughter from a previous relationship. My daughter is going away to college this fall, and we are beginning to get a little nervous. Out biggest financial stress right now is how do we help her with her expenses (Yes, she knows she has to get a job when she gets to her new town) and continue on our journey to being debt-free. We want to be able to help her when she REALLY needs it, but we also want to allow our younger children to be involved in activities if they want to be. We'd love to have a gift like this Dave Ramsey package!

      • Mommy4birth

Our biggest financial stress has been allowing me to be a stay at home mom and living on one income and still being able to build wealth to prepare for college and retirement. My husband is an accountant so he sees the numbers clearly and knows how much easier financially it would be if we doubled our income however we also want to make the best choices now for our young children. How do you do what's best now and and prepare for what's best later?

We have debt from when my husband was out of work and at the same time I was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. We relied on credit cards to make it through and would love to be debt free!!

      • Sunnytroncale

I love Dave! I have been wanting to get my kids involved with his program as well!

      • Emily B.

My biggest financial stress is starting over and trying to make it with a family of four. My husband lost his job while i was a stay at home mom with our twins. His field laid off over 1000 people and we lost our house and our car. I went back to work and he is now employed after two years and we are starting over. We have a much smaller income and the same bills we had with a large income. We barely have enough money to make it through the week so trying to figure out how to get out of debt we acquired while we were making good money now seems impossible. We want to fix our mess and just don't know how.

      • Christie

Our biggest financial stress is our mortgage! Would love to be debt free and teach our 4 kids (and ourselves!) Dave's ways!!!!!

      • We love Dave Ramsey and have followed his plans for a little over a year and a half! Even though we have our basic emergency fund & became debt free thanks to his “Total Money Makeover”, there is also something I can find to stress about…I think the 2 goals that I think about about the most are saving enough for a 20% downpayment on a house (we currently rent) and saving enough for our daughter's college education.

      • Mcleodsc

I need help budgeting a fluctuating income. It is feast or famine around here.

Our biggest money stresser is our home in NC, wondering what we are going to do when our next set of military orders come out if they aren't back to that state. This package will help us pad our savings enough to not worry so much about the unknown.

      • Hanna

Our biggest financial stress is the fact that there is too much money at the end of the month. Even though we think we are careful, I know we could be better and live on what we make. Reading the above post made me think about how much I could do with no debt payments!

      • Michelle

My biggest financial stress is that my family just relocated for work. It seems like the expenses are never going to end. Thanks for the giveaway!

We are happily out of debt, with the exception of our home mortgage. However, we have absolutely zero savings, which can be quite scary! We could benefit from Dave Ramsey's package by getting tips and motivation for creating a financial plan that involves lots of saving!

Student loans. I could free up so much income if I could get that monkey off my back. Hopefully Dave Ramsey can help me attack this problem. It's so big, I don't know where to start!

We went through Financial Peace University already, however, we did not learn our lesson. We were only $2500 in credit card debt at that time and now we are almost $20,000. It's time to listen to Dave again and get with the program!

What an awesome giveaway! I just shared it on fb! After taking 6 years to achieve a 4 yr. degree at the local college, I had the utopian notion that I was going to get a great job which would be my career. But then the economy crashed and 2 years later, I STILL don't have that career or job. Dave Ramsey offers great advice and I would love to own this package so that I can educate myself with his material!!

Biggest financial stress- paying off hubby's student loans while trying to plan for retirement and our little one's college! How to prioritize? I love that Dave Ramsey recommends starting to pay off smaller debt first. He's right about that sense of accomplishment. My biggest financial stress is trying to get my husband to stick to our budget so we can actually pay off the the debt and do the saving that we plan each month. It doesn't help that everytime we try to get the emergency fund back on track something else breaks that we have to spend the money on. I was fortunate enough to sit through free sessions of the FPU DVDs at work, but I need this stuff to help get my husband on board so he will be as committed as I am.

I m a fan on Fb. As a couple we would love to win and get Dave Ramsey's guidance in turning our lives around and saving our marriage. My husband has school loans & credit card debt which he doesnt want to talk about and a car loan . And we have been blessed with a 9mo old. Unfortunately with the economy we havent been able to secure jobs according to our education so it's been and still is very frustrating.I think with winning this package may help my husband share his debt and help our family plan a course to get debt free.

Since my son's birth we have been in major financial trouble. My husband was let go 3 weeks before he was born. I, then, developed a terrible infection and caused me to stay in the hospital for 10 days. Since then my son has developed kidney reflux so we have to have yearly VCUGs and ultrasounds, which are very costly. I have developed Rheumatoid Arthritis that took 1 year for them to diagnose. We have over $2000 in hospital bills and $7000 of credit card debt. My husband has gone back to college, on a whim, and will graduate next May. We will have to live on a budget of $1500 monthly and with a mortgage that is over $700, this will be difficult. We also have, electric, water, daycare, student loan and credit card bills. These add up to roughly $800. Which, if you will notice is the WHOLE $1500 budget. I don't know what to do. I need major help. With my husband in school, I have to work full-time, take care of the kids, get them to soccer, grocery shop, clean, do laundry, take care of the cars, mow, take care of the bills… etc… I am tired. Please help. Even if nothing comes of of this post. I at least feel better. Sorry about the “complain-fest.”

My student loans are my biggest financial woe. I really wish I could have them paid off. Thanks

      • katie

our biggest financial stress is the debt we accumulated over the last 10 years, both in a small business and personally. we have been fans of dave's for years and both read Total Money Makeover, but never attended FPU. We have now hit the “awakening” part of our lives where we are ready to get “gazelle intense” and knock it all out. hence why i started couponing! i know that the package could not only help us, but my kids learn not to fall into the same bad decisions we made with money in trying to “keep up with the Jones's”.

I follow Southern Savers on Facebook. One of our biggest financial stresses is not having enough in savings. Fortunately, we are debt free aside from our mortgage. We drive old cars that we pray will make it several more years, but we just can't seem to build and keep money in savings. We budget our money, but there are always those things that happen…..cars breaking down, old appliances needing repairing or fixing, ER trips with outrageous copays. I am a stay at home mom who will begin homeschooling next year and my husband is a youth minister. We do without a lot of things so that I can stay home with the kids. Whatever help or advice we could get to help us improve our situation and figure out how to save more for retirement, college, emergencies, etc. would be great. Thanks for all you do, Jenny. You have helped our budget some already since I am able to save so much on groceries and other things by using your site.

I became a stay-at-home Mom six months ago which has meant tightening our belts, changing to the “envelope system”, couponing, and protecting our emergency fund. My kids don't understand the change in spending philosophy so I'd love to take them through Financial Peace Junior!

My money stresser is our line of credit. With my husband being self employeed and me as a stay at home Mom, we are using a line of credit as our “back up plan”. Not a very good plan! I'd love to know how to get out of the hole starting with the line of credit.

      • Sherry

      • Nellbkc

Credit card debt before we knew better is definitely the biggest stresser!

      • Sofia

I love Dave Ramsey, but sadly I can't afford Dave Ramsey. My church was offering FU but it cost $100 and just didn't have that to spend, it would be great to win it:) My financial stress is my husband and my student loans. My hubby and I were poor growing up so we didn't have parents to rely on for college so we had to take out loans just to be able to get books, eat and pay for our classes. But WE are blessed to be in a country that allows us to go to college , rich or poor!! So no complaints on the loans, glad I could get them….it's just a financial stress:)

      • Amy L

Our biggest stress is thinking about a new car (even used) – just having another payment! I am sure he has a plan to attack and prepare for such a big purchase!

I have used Dave Ramsey for our family for 2 years. We are $3800 from being debt free! I hope to win the free stuff so I can teach the kids the program too. Thanks Dave!

      • Donna

My husband is a pastor and I am a homeschooling mom to our children. Our biggest financial stressor is trying to get out of debt. After spending five years on the mission field, the move back to the states and setting up house in the US was expensive. We have one car and are trying to pay it off, and hardly any in savings. I could certainly use these courses!

      • Kimberly

I'm sure DR's Financial Peace will tackle the “are we going to have enough $ to send our kids to college” issue!

      • Terry

We have one child in college and will have two in college in the fall. There just never seems enough money to do all that needs doing! This package would be a great thing for us to get a hold of our spending and actually save for the next child's education!

      • Julia

My biggest financial stress well it started when my husband retired from the military last June and then went two months without working. When he did work it was construction so we were just barely getting by we blew through our savings quicker than I thought. He did get a new job in his field in another town so we moved and now the big stresser is getting caught up and paying off those pesky credit cards.

      • smoose

We have generations of people in our family that need this. Over spending and the shame that comes with it has plagued mine and my husbands families. I would love this kit so we can use it and we can share it with everyone.

My biggest financial stress – my husband and I are separating after 21 years of marriage. I've never “been on my own” and I'm scared to death of continuing the money mistakes that contributed greatly to the death of my marriage. I like Dave Ramsey because of his Christian foundation. I'm now following you on Facebook! I'm recently married (7/31/10) and our biggest financial concern is how to save money to buy a house, while paying my student loans–over $700/month! We are trying to pay down the student loans, save for a house and handle the month-to-month expenses of raising three children on one full-time income.

      • Lynda F.

My husband and i attended Financial Peace University. We also had our college aged daughter attend. She discovered how lucky she is not to have student loans.

My biggest stress is stretching my monthly pay check to ensure that our family is taken care of. Also my husband is self employed and his pay varies week to week. I worry about how we take care of everything and make sure we are safe till the next month.

Our biggest financial stress began when my husband, who is an independent contractor, lost the majority or his contracts during the economic downturn. We were down to one income. We read Dave Ramsey's “Total Money Makeover” and were able to make it through our roughest time. We learned so much through his book and are now interested in doing Financial Peace University to build on the skills we learned from his book. We have two, almost 20 year old vehicles and have no idea how we're going to be able to make it when one inevitably dies!

      • Beth

Biggest debt is our house. I'd love to save money and be able to pay it off sooner!

I plan on going back to school in the fall and my husband wants to do the same at some point. We also want to purchase a house soon, and may need to purchase a vehicle in the near future. All of this plus trying to save for retirement and planning to have children in the near future. These are our financial stressors.

My husband is the saver and money manager and I am the one purchasing the groceries and necessities. I'm new to couponing, and usually end up purchasing more than I bargained for in groceries. The Dave Ramsey package would be perfect in teaching us the best way to save up for all of this and still have extra monies left over. For me it will also be a great tool for ideas on saving money at the register and tips on how to budget.

      • Amber

Our biggest financial stress is having to sell our home for less than it is worth… nothing to be done about that, it is just the market in FL. BUT, I bet the Dave Ramsey package would help us in all the other areas. :P

      • kristenk

student loans! we were always told it was “good” debt, but after having a child and becoming a stay at home mom, we've realized there is no good debt. we started on dave ramsey's total money makeover a few months ago (i checked his book out from the library) but would love to do financial peace university. we've been using cash only for about 4-5 months now. We withdraw a certain amt each week to spend, and I've been able to cut down our withdrawals by $40 per week thanks to using southern savers… as I get better at couponing I hope to cut down more! Every little bit helps… thanks southern savers!

I budget our money every pay period. I have debts that I am trying to get paid off. I want to be in the position that we are not so reliant on my income and that would allow me to work part time and go back to school full time.

      • Frugalmommyof3

My biggest stress…working full time nights, raising 3 kids and a husband, trying to stay on a “normal” daytime routine with them and then working nights! UGGGHH! We need out of debt so I can work days again! :)

      • Melissa

My biggest financial stress right now is paying all my bills plus saving for college for my daughter. I've heard only good things about Dave and I'm sure he could help me manage better.

My biggest money stress is our credit card debt! :-/ Mine and my husband's parents were not very wise with their money and set a bad example for us. We are now starting the long journey to being debt free and learning how to spend wisely! We would like to set a good example for our children, as our parents did not– the kids kit would be awesome for us!

I'm going through a divorce so I am learning how to manage the money. My “wasband” was our book keeper. I wish he and I had learned about managing money before the divorce–it would have made for fewer arguments. However the divorce was inevitable for other reasons. Now that I am on my own with two kids I have promised to be a good steward of my finances and teach my girls to do the same.

My biggest financial stress is how to save! My husband gets paid by the job, so when we don't know what (or when) the next job will be, I am always challenged by how to save! I'd love Dave's advice! :)

      • MY BIGGEST STRESS IS MY URGE TO SPEND… I still struggle with my WANTS competing with my desire and NEED to be without DEBT… the power of peace that keeps growing as we get more and more out of debt is so much more fulfilling and satisfying than any impulse purchase or any thing can provide. Seeing the relief on my wife's face and feeling the relief in my heart as we tear off “post-it” after post-it marked with 200 dollar increments towards paying off our final school debt IS better than chocolate!!

My biggest financial stress is trying to get rid of our debt so that we can start a family..my husband also has to travel out of state for work currently, and it would be great to have him home. We've been married 16 months and he's only lived at home for 4 of those months. We came into the marriage with student loans, credit card debt, car payments and then we bought a house. I've heard wonderful things about Dave Ramsey – but haven't been able to spend the money to learn how to save the money :)

We're not in any type of bind at this time, but I'm trying to prepare for worst case scenario in case it happens in the future. Plus, my husband is about to retire, and although he has a side business that he will continue, I want to be sure we can make it on just my income and his pension check in the event that he is unable to continue that business or business gets too slow.

The biggest thing is to make a budget, and use cash only to stick to it. You will spend so much less when you can only spend the cash in your wallet. Be prepared to take about 3-6 months to get your budget right, it is not daily work, but it does take awhile to get used to planning to carry the correct amount cash.

      • mimsyy

Our biggest financial problem as a family right now is that a few months ago we moved from Florida to Washington so my husband could start a great new job. Now we are renting in Washington and our house in Florida has been on the market for over five months with no offers! So we are stuggling to keep two homes afloat on one income since I'm currently a stay-at-home mom to our two-year-old. We've had to become very careful with our spending and try to budget very carefully. We hope to one day be able to purchase a home in Washington.

Our biggest financial stress is saving money. It seems like everytime we get that initial baby step taken care of and move to step 2, a new debt arises and we take that savings out and it's gone again. Oh the vicious cycle! Thanks to a few online tips from Dave Ramsey, our family is debt free (except for our mortgage) & well on our way to saving up our emergency fund! Our biggest financial stress right now is trying to save for a new-to-us car. We're a single income family & our cars are 13 & 14 years old. Our family's biggest financial stress is an unexpected 4th pregnancy that has not gone as smoothly as the first three! Although we are very excited and blessed, we were not expecting to fall behind and struggle so as my hours were cut and the hubby's job is not going as well as in the past. It has awakened us to the realization that we need to make sound changes!!!

Our biggest financial stress is getting our bills paid off…I'm going to be staying home with our kids next year due to the amount of childcare and the amount I'm currently spending on gas to drive 45 miles to work, but I would LOVE to know I had our bills paid off before we go down to one income. Thanks so much for the chance to win! I've heard so many great things about this program!

Biggest financial stress – I am a newly wed and my husband and I are still in college… enough said?…

      • Jmedwards13

Honestly the biggest financial stress is paying back student loans. My hubby and I are working on our credit card debt while faithfully tithing.
The package would definitely help us get on the right track to paying back our enormous student loans which would be a catalyst for us finally being able to start a family!

My biggest financial stress is budgeting and sticking to it. I pinch from one spot to cover the other and I don't think I have enough to save and be debt free. I'm not sure how Dave's program will help but I sure would liket o find out. I've heard great things about FPU but just haven't had the cash flow to take a class.

I've been without a FT job for 3 years now. There are roughly 4,000 applicants for each job I have applied for. Couple that with our student loan debt and the credit card mistakes that we made when we were first married, and you've got LOTS of stress.

LOVE Dave Ramsey!!! He has been a huge help in my life just as you have. Thanks to Dave, my only financial stress is my mortgage payment and planning for retirement. Thanks so both of you!!

      • Kkeyes

My biggest ficl. stress is the last of my student loan debt and some CC debt too. I have heard of Dave but never had the chance to check out his plans. I like that he teaches from a Christian perspective!

      • Kerry L

Our biggest financial stress is credit card debt, I think Dave Ramsey could help my husband see the benefit of paying the credit cards off.

I also am an email & facebook subscriber.

      • tarheelbaby1

My biggest financial stress is investing tax efficiently. DH and I have taken the savings message to heart but find that our investment success is significantly limited by the substantial amount of our returns that we pay out in taxes each year. Would love some of Dave's tips on that.

      • Donnaa

My biggest financial stress is having 15 years worth of debt, a teenager that is ready to go to college and we have no college fund, an elementary schooler that we would desperately want to have a college fund for in a few years, and medical bills piling up, even with health insurance. We have been doing our own budgeting and planning, but with no positive experience to draw from we could really use Dave Ramsey's program to guide us in our journey to financial peace.

      • Jennie

As of the beginning of this year, I am a SAHM, and we are down to one income. We could really use some help budgeting and learning to live on less than we make. Also, in the next few years, we'll need to start teaching LO about money.

Our biggest financial stress is my husband's seasonal job.

      • Amy

Well my biggest stressor is the unexpected costs that keep coming up every week and every month. We are a two family income with two teenage girls that are getting ready to drive and there is a cost for everything they do at school for relaxation. It just never ends. I am working full time, I clean houses on the side and just started another part time job on Saturdays. So I feel like I am doing everything I can but I am not getting anywhere except more frustrated.

Out biggest financial stress is credit card debt, which has multiplied now that I have received a 10K pay CUT per year, after having our second baby!!! 2010 was really hard & I can only hope that 2011 gets better!!!

      • Frommyhome2yours

Honestly, our biggest financial stress is just the daily life that seems to always get in the way of us being able to FIND THE TIME to sit down and intelligently discuss/work on finances and budgeting. We have 6 children, both work full-time, hubby has Leukemia, and it seems like every time we get a step up something happens to cause the backslide. Finances are causing stress, but TIME…that seems to be the big hurdle for us right now.

Our biggest stressor would be credit card debt!!! HELP!!!

      • Brandi

Our biggest financial stress is that my hubby was out of work for almost 2 years. Thankfully he has a job now, but not near enough hours to help us get caught up or be able to move out of his family's house!

      • Aleoxmom

Our biggest financial stress at the moment is the uncertainity about my husband's job as we are a one income family. In the last 2 years my husband's company was sold twice and now we are given an ultimatum to move to a different(and much more expensive) part of the country so all the moving costs will be a huge burden and we still have the uncertainity of job loss even after the move(and then we'll be in a worse situation then now). I'd love to be able to attend FPU but there is no way we can add any other expense to our budget at the moment as we are trying to pay off our CC debts at the moment. We need all the financial savvy we can get at the moment. I love the idea behind the Kids Monster Pack as well and it seems like a fantastic idea to get our kids on board with our family goal of being debt-free.

BIggest Financial stress: we are a family of 7, I just quit my job to stay home with our last newborn and toddler, and our savings just got wiped out with emergencies (car problems, van problems). Now we next to nothing in savings and not a lot of opportunities to build it up again! Panic mode!
And I posted about this on FB.
        Thanks!

      • Mary

Our biggest issue is falling into the debt trap. Each time we pull ourselves out, something happens and in we go again. We are once again getting close to being debt free and I would for Dave's help in staying that way.

My husband and I were introduced to Dave Ramsey a year ago and wonder why we never lived this way before! Our biggest financial stress is what's looming on the horizon – college, car, weddings, etc. and it's not like the money is rolling in any faster. This Dave Ramsey set can help us teach money management to our children so they can worry about college, the car, etc :) and we can focus on retirement and paying off the house!

We have done Crown financial and had a change of heart about money. We now use it and think about it the way God intended. We have gone to one car to rid ourselves of debt but we often get bogged down in day to day spending. Ramseys plan I have heard, is more of a how to than Bible study and I think that would be a great next place for us on the road to debt free!
Our next goal is to pay off car, student loans, house and SAVE!

      • Shortchikk

We have two of Dave's books, and have read them, but hubby is still not quite on the same page. The opportunity to attend FPU would really be helpful to our financial future… especially since we are behind on our mortgage. Wondering whether or not we will get to keep our house is our biggest strain at the moment.

      • Mzlinzy

I have been following this site since seeing Jenny in Alabama last fall. I have always been thriftier than most of the people I know. My biggest financial stressor is the chaotic way we pay our bills. There is no system….I would LOVE to get a handle on that! And the craziest thig of all?! We don't even HAVE credit cards! It's just the basic usual monthly expenses! Sheesh!!

      • Lisa

I was recently laid off and now going to school full time on top of a stay at home mom. We are trying to survive on my husbands income I think this would be a great tool.

      • Maggie

Shared on Facebook and Twitter! Our biggest financial burden is….our student loans. Last year we were able to get out of consumer debt and we were happy about that. But we're still pretty much zeroing out the account every month. I always feel like it's the student loans, but it could also be the choices we make with our money. I want to be able to continue to stay home. I know Dave Ramsey's tools could help us be realistic and wise managers. And I really like the idea of using the kids package to start teaching our daughter who just turned three. Well, good luck to everyone. What a great giveaway!

Posted on Facebook. Our biggest financial stressor currently is timeshare. We enjoy using it; however, the interest on it is killing us and while we have a “deed” we don't have any “real property” to get a bank loan to lower the interest! Financially it was probably the worst decision we've made although we do enjoy it when we get to use it to spend time as a family!

Our biggest financial stress at this point is probably teaching our children how to use money wisely…and in a way that they don't have to test it as adults, but can test it on a smaller scale as they grow up! We don't want them to make mistakes later, as we did.

We don't have credit card debt, so our furniture, appliances, etc were bought with cash; the only current debt we have right now are our car. Our biggest financial struggle is a sense of financial security (through savings and less frivolous spending). Biggest financial stresses = Having to pay for 2 places to live due to 1) financing a home 5 years ago which is now underwater & in a low rental market (we live in the styx so not alot of interest from potential tenants) & 2) husband got a new job & had to relocate 5 states away in a high & tight rental market (read here: very, very expensive & good rentals get scooped up superfast)… so currently supporting 2 households (mine with the 3 boy (ages 14, 5, & 3), him by himself) & trying to eliminate all debt, build up emergency fund, & accumulate money to relocate the family to be together again (after so far, one year of living this way). I have studied every financial plan out there & I'm following DR's plan, but we are in a serious pickle with this situation… I don't know how much longer I can take being here alone with the 3 boys before I lose peace, financial & otherwise….

We have been applying Dave's principals for approximately 4 years now. My husband has been unemployed for almost half of that time. Had it not been for Dave gettting the info out there and us applying the information, we might be one of the many American's that have lost their home in this current economic downturn. I would love the younger version of Financial Peace program. My kids are learning it through us, but I think Dave will have done the younger version in a way that even they can understand it.

My husband lost two jobs last year (once in January 2010 and another in September 2010) and I've only been able to work part-time from home due to an unexpected health issue that cropped up last summer. Though he was able to start a great job in January, we're still swamped with past due bills and struggling with what to pay first to get us back on track. We're also expecting our first child in September, so we really need to get a good handle on our finances so that we can offer the best possible life for our little one! Since loosing my job in 2008 then going back to school for a career change, a downturn in the economy which greatly affected my husband who is self employed we have managed to use up most of our savings just trying to keep the bills paid and created large amounts of debt with the IRS. our biggest financial worries are: 1) paying off a consolidation loan, 2) paying off the house, 3) have money saved for our daughter's college BEFORE my husband retires in 12 more years! Oh – and now the great state of Florida wants to have him pay into his retirement account even though he has NOT had any raises in 3 years so it will actually be a pay cut. So now may need to add to our worries a 4th – a retirement account??

Having been laid off for two years and living from our savings and credit cards to be able to have a guide to getting back on track the right way would be great. I am a mother of 2 and my husband has ALS, (AKA Lou Gehrigs Disease). We had an unexpected change of events with his diagnoses. We live of my small income, and Social Security. We built a house 3 years ago and are plans were to sell but the market had other plans. He was in a good paying position but now all of our money goes toward our home and utilities. I sure could use some advice!

      • Christina

My future husband, and I are about to be a family is just 4 short months! I think the Dave Ramsey's package would help us build a strong financial foundation in our marriage. Also, it would help us pay of the student loans we have acquired and live in a way that would allow us to be more generous in giving away our money.

My husband was just selected to become a Deaon/Elder at our church and we want to leave a life of peace, especially in the financial area, which is our greatest stress so that we can offer our advice in the future and be supportive of our fellow church members and others we come in contact with. Southern Savers has saved me hundreds on groceries and my family needs to learn how to be more savvy with our other expenditures and get out of debt.

      • Kelli

Our gynormous amount of credit card debt is our biggest stressor. My husband climbed the ladder very quickly (3 years at each level) in his career and we made so very little during that climb that we relied too heavily on credit cards. We are paying for that now. I have just gone back to work and would love him to help us figure out how to cut the debt quickly! I can't wait to scream “I'm DEBT FREE!” We're working on it, but I would like my hubby and I to be on the same track.

We get his show at a really odd time in Atlanta, so I'd love to be able to listen to his podcast while in the car & out running. I LOVE Dave Ramsey!!!!!!!!! Our biggest stress is our $40k in student loans (our only debt) because its an anchor dragging us down! With my husband's regular job we have all our needs & bills budgeted with 50 cents left to spare – no room to pay extra on the debt. :( :( that's what year-end bonus + my part time job + anything else we can come up with is for.

I AM PRAYING THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE DAVE RAMSEY'S PACKET. WHY? BECAUSE I KNOW THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO USE IT TREMENDOUSLY TO HELP PROVIDE FOR YOUR FAMILY.
SIXTEEN YEARS AGO, I WAS WHERE YOU ARE TODAY. SO I REALLY UNDERSTAND AND KNOW A GREAT DEAL OF WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH. PLEASE KNOW THAT IT WILL BE TOUGH MORE TIMES THAN YOU WOULD LIKE, BUT OUR GOD IS FAITHFUL TO BE WITH YOU, YOUR HUSBAND AND YOUR CHILDREN EACH DAY.
IT REALLY IS OK THAT THE HOUSE IS NOT SPOTLESS, THAT YOU DON.T COOK A FULL COURSE MEAL EACH NIGHT, AND THAT YOU (AND MAYBE YOUR HUSBAND TOO) HAVE A GOOD CRY. REMEMBER GOD IS IN CONTROL.
FOR THE PAST SIXTEEN YEARS, GOD HAS BEEN FAITHFUL EVERYDAY. FAITHFUL TO BE WITH US. FAITHFUL TO PROVIDE FOR US – WE NEVER MISSED PAYING A BILL OR LACKED FOOD TO EAT. FAITHFUL TO ENCOURAGE US. FAITHFUL TO SEND HELPFUL PEOPLE OUR WAY AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME. FAITHFUL TO PROTECT AND PROVIDE FOR OUR CHILDREN.
MY HUSBAND'S HEALTH HAS NOT IMPROVED, BUT HE WILL TELL YOU THAT IT HAS BEEN A BLESSING TO BE ABLE TO SPEND SO MUCH TIME WITH HIS CHILDREN. (LOOK FOR THE MANY BLESSINGS.) DURING THIS TIME, GOD HELPED US TO BECOME COMPLETELY DEBT FREE.
I AM THANKFUL THAT MY HUSBAND IS STILL WITH ME. WE ARE THANKFUL THAT OUT CHILDREN KNOW WHO JESUS IS AND THAT THEY LOVE HIM. I PRAY THE SAME FOR YOU, SWEET WIFE AND MOTHER, GOD IS FAITHFUL:)

I am so glad you are offering this! Our biggest stresser was always having credit card debt and student loans, which prevent us from getting ahead and left us living paycheck to paycheck. We just completed FPU and bought Financial Peace Jr. We've paid off $4300 in credit card debt since Dec. 1. We'll be credit card debt free by May 31 and will have paid off my husband's student loan by Oct. 2011. We'll be totally debt free by Sept. 2013 or sooner! Your blog is a huge testament to how we've saved money especially since I've been unemployed. Thanks so much!

      • Tarashanko

I have got to win this giveaway!! My husband and I were just talking about purchasing a Dave Ramsey book. We stress most over teaching our children the value of a dollar. This giveaway would be a blessing.

      • Donna

The biggest financial stress is finding a way to stop renting a house and being able to finally buy a house to call home. I am sure Dave Ramsey has some great advice. I also have seven children that could benefit from his lessons.

      • Marie

My biggest problem is student loans and credit card debt. I would love to be debt free!

      • Ledger Beth

I would really like to win this for my family. I am a teacher and although, you think teachers are always needed, I have seemed to find myself without a job for the past three summers due to budget cuts. This last year I went to another county and found out today that the school has been cut by three teachers so again… I will be looking for another job this summer. Its a last hired…. first fired (or let go) type of thing. Also, I have an almost two year old that I would like to teach her about money and build a savings for her education.

We are trying to sell a house and rent one at the same time since my husband got a new job. I am staying at home with our 2 kids. Our biggest struggle is not using our credit card and save at the same time.

      • jrenee

I am about to quit my job to stay at home with my 14 month old. We already know some of Dave's principles, but we would LOVE to be able to use My Total Money Makeover and the tools within. We are determined to make it work on one income so that I can be the one caring for our child and possibly our future children. Any help we can get would be great!

      • MIchelle

The biggest stress for us, is the looming student loans we will be paying back as of next year. I think Daves principles could help us to stay focused, and see the end of our goal which is to be debt free someday.

3 teenagers!! that says it all. Southern savers has been a big part of my life lately, as we all know, teenagers are bottomless pits. But then comes the financial stress of raising kids all together, we are debt free and would like to stay that way. Just 2 years ago we owed everyone, and lost most of everything. I am trying to learn by my mistakes and believe this set will help me as well as teach my kids to never get in the situation I was in.

We followed Dave's plan about 2 years ago and became debt free except our mortgage. We love him!!! We were introduced to Southern Savers by a sister-in-law when we moved to Tennessee and we shared Dave's plan with her. Our biggest financial stressor right now is how to help the rest of my in-laws with their complete lack of self-control and common sense about money.

      • Robyn

Student loans debt!!!!! LOTS OF IT!!!!!! I think the Dave Ramsey package could help me find the money to pay it off so that we can put money into our kid's college funds. My biggest financial stress is medical bills. My son is on the autism spectrum and we have so many medical bills for all the therapies he gets. Totally worth it with all the progress he has made, but still a big strain on us.

      • Pwalker1

I have been struggling to pay credit card debt accumulated over the years. With me fast approaching retirement age, I will not be able to retire like so many other people. I will be forced to work another 5-10 years. Having the tools from Dave Ramsey could help me get my debt paid earlier so that I could retire. That would be a blessing!

      • Tambam

I've always had to manage the finances in our family & that is quite a burden. I feel we work hard but never seem to get ahead. I hate loans but recently had to get one to buy a vehicle and recently refinanced our house because our daughter is getting married. I think we are pretty frugal but with today's econcomy our $$ just don't go very far.

      • Karen

I put some of Dave Ramsey's tips into practice last year and was able to pay off my student loans faster than I had planned. Now I'm working on some other things. I would love to have this to help me learn how to budget even better and stick to my budget.

The biggest strees is having too much month at the end of the money. We have looked into these classes locally but have not had the extra finances to attend. We know that the information will help with that from hearing what our friends have said.

Biggest stress – one credit card. We've been applying the principles Dave Ramsey outlines on his website (as well as what we've seen elsewhere) and it's feeling good to be making progress on it.

I'm a subscriber, have shared on faceboook, and would love to learn how to pay down a few credit cards and student loan debt that we've been working so hard at for so long. The economy has really hurt both of our jobs. We went from 1 really good paying job a piece to 2 jobs for me and 3 for my husband while raising our 2 year old and trying to save for college for him and not put him in daycare. We are stressed out to the max. Please pick us and help us get out of debt.

My husband and I have been trying to work out a budget to help us stop living paycheck to paycheck. We know many people that Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University has helped tramendously. Our biggest financial burdon is student loans, 120,000.00 worth, with no end in site.

Dave Ramsey and Southern Savers as a team is a win win for everyone!!! With both of these money saving resources, I can't lose!!!
My financial stress comes from needing a new car. We have a 89 pathfinder with 175,000 miles and a 2001 Corolla with over 200,000 miles. We live paycheck to paycheck (only my husband works) and will be needing a better car in the near future. I am not sure how that will ever happen. Maybe some fiancial peace will help!

Dave Ramsey's program could definitely help me out. I am close to filing bancruptcy with all my debt and do not want to have to do that. I have read some of Dave's book before, but never seem to stay on track. I would love a second chance. If I could get this whole program and truly study it I think I would have a fighting chance.

My husband and I have significant debt, but the problem is that our income and outgo match almost exactly, so we can't work toward getting OUT of that debt without margin. And my husband works about 75-80 hours per week working TWO full time jobs since I'm at home with three children. This package will help us to know what we CAN do to get started in the process of eliminating that debt…but even better, it will help us know what to teach our children about money/debt, so they don't make the same mistakes we did–which are just what our families did too.

My husband and I came across Living Debt Free and started to implement it about 10 years ago through our church. It truly has been life changing. Happy to say we have no credit cards, and no car payments as they are over 10 years old. Our biggest struggle has been our daughter's medical expenses. She is 11 year old now, but was born with cerebral palsy and a seizure disorder. Trinity is an absolute miracle! However we visit specialists, therapists and children's hospital a lot – not to mention the $280 of medicine she goes through each month and that's just the co-pays! We would love to be able to set aside a nest egg for her to be taken care of when we are gone as well as pay for our other 2 little one's college. I worked through college to pay for it and it was quite a struggle – it would be such a blessing for them not to have to do that! God bless you and yours!

Our biggest financial stressor is TRIPLETS! I used to think things were nuts with diapers and jars of baby food, but the older they get, the more expensive they get. My biggest stresser is student loans – I went to college and got my master's degree and am now studying for the CPA exam. I hope my hard work for an education will pay off in the long run but when I look at my student loan balances, I don't see that happening! I am the oldest of 4 children and there was no way my mom, a single mother, could pay for my college therefore, 2 weeks after turning 18, I moved out and have been independent every since, now 25 years old and married, planning for a house and children of our own. I would love be in complete control of my finances and debt before having children. I have always wanted to be a CPA and wasn't going to let my lack of funds stop me from reaching my goals and living my dreams. The next sibling under me will be a senior in High School next year and I hope that I set a good example for her and my other siblings to follow your goals and dreams and never stop. Thank you Jenny for all you do in helping all of us save money!! May God Bless You and Yours!

Thankfully, we've never had financial trouble, but we have never lived like no one else either and the time has come. WOW! LOVE this give away! I have four children and a one household blue collar income…. We have been working on getting debt free for a couple of years, after draining our savings and racking up some healthy debt due to my husbands company downsizing and laying him off a couple of years ago. I KNOW Dave Ramsey's materials could help me figure out how to make WISE investments, pay for my children's college, as well as teach THEM to manage money so they don't have to struggle with debt like sooooo many of us do! Our biggest stress is future retirement. Although we're a little ways away, our past stupid debt is really hindering us being able to save. I really enjoy listening to Dave and would love to have the resources at horme to refer to often.

My husband and I care for my disabled aunt. My husband is facing a layoff and my employer has decided to outsource alot of the work in our company. Needless to say, I have lost my job security. We are already wondering how we are going to make ends meet. I would love the financial info and would love to become debt free.

My family LOVES Dave Ramsey and I would love to have all of these products. Because of Dave, we will have both of our cars paid off (one which was bought just last year brand new) and the only debt we will have after that will be our house. All of this is great because we are facing a very large financial crises. In August, my husband will be losing his job and although he has been looking, he hasn't been successful in finding another job. I am a stay at home mom with no degree, so we desperately need him to have work. We are stockpiling our money just as I stockpile my pantry and I just know that Dave's advice and motivation through this package will help us out greatly. Thanks!

I have a 13 month old and I am expecting twins in five months. Our financial stresses have compounded since the news. We don't have a home large enough for us all (literally, not just it would be nice), we have to find a bigger house. Also, I drive a Jetta and three car seats will not fit. Then there is general care for them once they get here. With all of these changes we have plenty of stress, the Lord has blessed us with the babies and we know he will show us a way. Perhaps, this giveaway is the instruction we need!

We have typical debt and money management issues that we've slowly been working on. We haven't lost a home or had our cars reposessed, so I guess we're not as down on our luck as others I've seen on here. Somehow we've managed to stay afloat. I would LOVE to win this package because it would be nice to have all the info on hand whenever we need it. However, didn't Dave Ramsey say that you can save money by simply checking his books out at the library? Totally FREE if you can't afford to buy one. If Plan A (winning the set) doesn't work, then we'll move on to Plan B (library :-)

At least not until those money trees start growing!!!!

My husband and I both are firefighters. Our 24hr shifts are demanding and straining on our family and financial life especially since we have a 6mth old daughter. Since our daughter was born, our biggest financial stress is trying to afford the specialized formula she requires due to medical issues. This formula is costing us almost $800 a month. We due not qualify for any assistance that we have applied for since we both are working. We are scraping every penny, but somehow still feel like we are on a one way street to debt city. We could deffinatley use a Dave Ramsey Financial Makeover!
