Staples has a printable coupon for $5 off a $30 purchase available! Combine this with the FREE after easy rebate items and the 1¢ deals and they will pay you to take home office/school supplies!  Remember, even if you don’t have little ones, there are lots of kiddos who could use the supplies and many stores even have a bin you can drop donations in.

When I went to Staples yesterday, they said you could only get 3 one cent items per purchase.  You could separate your purchases and get more of those items, but it wouldn’t work for the coupon above.

      • Dee

So you would just need to take off 3 -.01 items, right?  You would still have enough to use the coupon and get the rewards.  Maybe you can find a good deal for $5 to get the other three items.

      • Laura R

I went into my local Columbia, SC store yesterday am and purchased 2 of each of the 1 cent items in my $30+ transaction no problem. Maybe that particular store limits?

    • Diana

      how easy rebates work?

      • yourbilletdoux

Most of them you submit online and they verify and then send you a prepaid card (edited since I think they only do prepaid cards now) for the amount of the rebate.  It’s pretty simple.

        • Laura R

you can also get it deposited into your paypal account or receive a physical check. i just entered my info yesterday for my rebate and those were my options in addition to a gift card. super easy and usually super fast! :)

          • LuvCpns

I agree about the rebates being easy to submit online. I disagree about the rebates being super fast. If you request a check be sent it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get your check. Perhaps it’s faster if you deposit to Paypal.

    • Randa

Thank you for posting about this deal last week!  Husband and I got to Staples early Sunday morning to stock up for work [we’re both teachers and buy a lot of the supplies for our students].  Ended up paying about 70 out of pocket but we’re getting 30 back AND we got enough supplies to easily last a full year, if not more!  This was a fraction of the cost that we initially thought we’d be paying so this is going to help us out tremendously.  Thank you so much for all that you do!

      • GATeacher

Randa if you use your teacher ID in our area you can get 25 of the penny items.

        • Raynesmw

You can get over this year, but they are charging regular price and you get it back in rewards. There’s a lot of chatter about that on teacher boards.

    • ireneY

Bought almost exactly the same items as Jenny, but added 3 $1 sharpies. Used a $5/3 tearpad from Office Max (Staples could have them too, but didn’t check) for $2 overage! :)

    • Jenscrystalline

Will walmart price match the penny items?

      • Nick

Yes, but the penny items require a $5 minimum purchase, which may also apply. I’ve price-matched penny items at Wal-mart (last summer) and they didn’t have limits on how many I could get.

    • Tanyalulu

Just curious if they reduce the price of the rebate amount because you used a coupon. I have tried that before and that has happened, but I think I only purchased the one item. Has anyone tried to submit the rebate yet?

      • ireneY

My rebate confirmation was for the full amount. Not sure if it’ll be reviewed by a human and adjusted down.

      • pamgam

This happen to me but I used a manufacturer coupon not a store coupon and the rebate was adjusted down.

    • Kat175

Jenny – This is why I love your site. I did the exact deal as listed (an associate actually walked me around the store and helped me find everything on the list) and added 4 x $0.25 packs of the mechanical pencils. Still made $1.27 after rebates which I just have deposited into my Paypal account!

    • Banks Ash21

It let you use the $5 off coupon? Coupon states “Min purchase of $30 must be met with purchases to which no other coupon or instant savings offer applies.” Just wondering before i go :)

      • Mandyward67

you can’t use it with instant savings. the rebates are not instand savings becuase you pay the full price and then fill out the form and get the money back….so yes it will work.

      • lj

You CAN use it with instant savings…ie, the photo paper has an instant savings of .50 I think.  Your TOTAL just has to be at least 30.00.  This is like at the grocery store when it’s on sale for 2.00 and reg price is 3.99.  It’s going to ring up at the sale price.  I was just there today and got the photo paper, the super glue, and the multipurpose paper, all  of which had instant savings in addition to the rebates.  (I had several other things as well, but I think those were the only ones with instant savings) I was able to use my coupon for 5.00/30.00 with no problems.  My total before the coupon was 33.??  Then she took off  an extra 5% for my rewards card and then scanned the coupon.  Total was 28.24.  I’m pretty sure they will adjust my rebates to reflect the 5% off, but even then as long as it was free, I don’t care.

ok so if I do a deal and submit the rebate its like im paying for it and then they will either deposit rebate in paypal or send me a check to actually be free in the end

      • Mandyward67

you pay for it like normal. then you fill out the rebate form (easy to do online) and they mail you a check.

      When does sale end?

      • JZ

the ad says the sale ends this Saturday the 14th.

Is the desk calendar on rebate. or is it just a filler item to get to the $30 total?

    • JZ

So, I have a ton of questions about this. Here goes, haha.
      – How does the rebate process work? I know you can get a check, prepaid card or have it put into paypal, but does it show you on your receipt which items to submit rebates for? How long does it take to go through paypal instead of check?
      – Do you have to submit all of the rebates separately, or can you submit them all together for the total amount?
      – Why does it say on the ad “2 rebate limit per household”? does that mean two rebates total for that item, limiting you to two items that you’ll be reimbursed for?
      – Last one, promise… The $5 off $30 coupon says “Minimum purchase requirement of $30 must be met with purchases to which no other coupon or instant savings offer applies.” Does that mean I can’t buy 5 scotch tapes and use my $3/5 coupon on them in that transaction if I am going to use the $5/$30 coupon?

Sorry for all the questions! I usually avoid Staples, but this is a deal that I don’t (and I don’t think my husband will) want to pass up. :] Thanks for the help!

      • Tristansmommy120910

The limit of 2 means you will only be reimbursed for 2 items per card. The $3/5 scotch if its a manufacture coupon should work (unless the $5/30 states your total must be $30 after all other coupons and the $3/5 brings your total down below $30) hope that wasn’t confusing lol. And for the rebate itself (i have not done mine yet) but the cashier said its very simple online. My recipet actually printed off a extra “rebate reciept” plus another reciept to fill out. So i guess you can choose to mail it or do it online. Hope some of this helps answer your questions.

        • JZ

I’m not sure what “per card” means, lol. Sorry :[ and if I’m reading it correctly, it seems to be saying on the $5/$30 coupon that you can’t use it with any other coupon or instant savings. I’ll be heading down there soon (I live in Missouri so everything is a hike) so hopefully they have some stuff left by the time I get there! :/

          • LuvCpns

Per Card means per your Staples reward card. You have to have a reward card to get the Easy Rebates.

You will get a receipt for your total purchase and then a rebate receipt for any easy rebate items and a rebate redemption form for each easy rebate item. A lot of paper. If you are not going to mail in your rebate, it’s easier to do it online, all you will need is each Rebate Offer number from each rebate redemption form and the bar code at the bottom of your receipt/form to submit the rebate online. The bar code is same on all of the receipts/forms. The online process walks you through each step to submit the rebates. You do it in one session and input each offer number. When submitted you will see each offer and the total rebate for that offer. If your doing a check you will get a separate check of each offer in the mail and they most likely will not arrive at the same time. I have never used Paypal so do not know how that differs or how long it takes. Each rebate has a limit on the number of that item you can purchase and get the rebate. Example the Copy Paper limit is 2 so you will only get a rebate on 2 packs of the paper, if you buy more than 2 you will not get a rebate for those. It’s tracked by your reward number. You will only put the offer number in once for any offers where you buy more than one, for the paper when you do the rebate submission, the system will know if you purchased 2 and calculate your rebate accordingly. You can use manufacturer coupons in addition to the $5/$30 coupon as long as the mfg. coupon does not drop your total below the $30 required for the Staples coupon. The total is calculated on the amount you pay and the easy rebate amount does not count since your paying up front and then getting the rebate later. Also be aware the new rewards system takes 5% off every item when you use your reward card. Example the copy paper with the easy rebate offer rang up $6.64 not $6.99. When I submitted the rebates online they all came up at the full rebate price stated in the Staples flyer, $6.74 for the copy paper, desktop calendar rang up $4.74, rebate showed $4.99, scotch super glue rang up $2.84, rebate showed $2.99. Hope this helps clarify things.

        • JZ

that’s awesome… thank you! you clarified everything perfectly for me :] I appreciate it!

This is the best deal I have ever gotten with SS. With $5 off, I paid $32.08. Rebate amounts 31.46, which means I paid 0.62 for2 HP photo papers, 2 multi use paper, 2 sharpies (five pack) and 2 Bic Round Sticks (8 pack). Applying for the rebate took about two minutes on line. Good Stuff!

Was there a reason Jenny spent 1.51 over the $30 limit?  I am trying to minimize my out of pocket expenses, and want to make sure I am not missing something.  Thanks!

It’s like the 4th posting down when you get to the Office Supply list (Staples, Office Depot and Office Max are all in the same list)

I went to Staples today!  I ended up getting 2 packs of paper, 2 caldenars, 2 of the small coil memo books, 4 packs of the BIC dry erase markers, 4 packs of the mechincal pencils, 2 boxes of crayons, 2 bottles of glue, 2 packs of BIC pens, 4 blacks and white comp bookds, and 2 packs of the Sharpies.  It was $32 and change.  Used my $5 off $30 coupon and my Teacher rewards that I had totaling $19.90.  So I out of poket $7.19 and submitted for my rebates of the calendars and the paper already.  I dont know if they will adjust down my rebate amount but either way I am happy!  I have two boys in school and I am a teacher myself so this was a great deal for us!  Thank you Jenny!

Don’t forget for $10 you can get a back to school pass which gets you an additional 15% off until sometime in August. I saved $14 Sunday on my trip so the card already paid for itself

    • Couprint

Does anyone know if you can use the 15% off Back to School Savings Pass with the above scenario?

    • Romypau77

is the HP photo paper include also on easy rebate? I cant find it in my ad? thanks

      • Laini M

Yes, I’m looking at it in my ad, and it’s an easy rebate for 8.99, limit 4.

    • Laini M

Can anyone who got the Scotch super Glue with rebate give me the rebate offer number for that? (I don’t mean the Easy Rebates ID number, which I assume is unique to your purchase.) I realized after I got home that the printer tape ran out in the middle of printing my rebate forms. I can submit online with my ID number if I know the offer number for the glue. Thanks!

      • Laini M

Nevermind; I found a way to look it up on Staples.com.
