Jenny, it's “pique your interest” not peak.  Peak is the top of a mountain.  Peek is looking in on something.

      • Lex

It's a good thing you cleared that up because I am sure that everyone was having an extremely difficult time figuring out what she meant.

      • Sporksoma

Ron, don't let these people make you feel bad.

Many people do not believe that good grammar and spelling are important parts of communication, and those are exactly the people who have poor grammar and spelling.

It is true that everyone makes a typo, and it is easy to confuse homonyms.  I've noticed that many of the blogs I read have writers who do not have the best grammar or spelling and I like to correct them as well.

Correcting someone nicely about grammar or spelling, which is what you have done here, should not be something to get you “flamed.”  Proper grammar and spelling are IMPORTANT.  It's important to know what someone is wanting to communicate; there is no reason someone should fuss at you because you corrected an incorrect homonyminal use.

To the rest of you who are getting on to Ron for helping Jenny out with an incorrect homonym:  I do not see where Ron was rude to Jenny about the difference between “peek,” “peak,” and “pique.”  I see where Ron corrected it.  Jenny is a smart lady and I am sure she appreciates having someone point the typo out so she can fix it and she'll know for later use.  No one likes to look ignorant, and perhaps in a few months something will come up in a professional sense and Jenny will remember Ron's kindness in pointing it out and go “Aha!  I know exactly which spelling to use here.”

Everyone should use proper grammar and spelling, there are no excuses in our day and age of word processing, spellcheck and grammarcheck, to not use them.  Typos happen, things get overlooked, true, but take a moment and make sure what you're typing is what you MEAN.  Your meaning can easily be misconstrued because of an incorrect use of a word.

        <3 Peace!

        • Ron704

Thank you for adding some sanity to the chatter.

      • instantphoebe

You weren't even rude about it…I don't understand why everyone's getting their panties in a wad. I noticed the error as well. You were politely pointing it out, not being an a-hole like some of these other people are saying.

Ron, you have nothing to apologize for.

    • Heather

      Ummm, wow!

    • Sew51

      are you kidding

    • EJ

To look at the FREE service and great service that Jenny does for all of us, I can't believe anyone would write something like this.  Jenny has saved my family and probably yours a ton of money during some very tough times.  She should be thanked, not corrected on here.  If you were concerned about how she typed it and wanted to kindly let her know, you could have sent her a personal e mail. Posting it on here is tasteless.

    • Guest

      Geek.  Or is it “gique”?

    • Katie Mc.

Wow. I didn't know that was how it was spelled either… even if I had noticed it was spelled incorrectly, I wouldn't have cared… & still don't.  I can't believe THAT was the one thing that stood out enough for you to comment on. Really?  I realize that we are each entitled to freedom of speech… but for future reference, your comment should have been something along the lines of “Thanks, Jenny!” or “Yay- I was waiting for ___ to go on sale!”

    • Hokiesbaby79

      Great Job Jenny!

    • hokies79

Really Dude, that was quite Rude. It's the internet not English/Spelling Class. We all knew what she meant. Even if you meant it as a joke maybe you should correct yourself, as I think you left out the “joking” part.

    • Donna

Dear Ron704, “pique” this – get a grip and put yourself back with real people who sometimes misspell or in their hurry to get important information to you are too tired from their labors to give a rat's *** if their grammar or spelling doesn't suit you.  Maybe many of us recognized the 'slip' and were just too grateful and understanding to give the rat's ***.   Signed by an English language MBA from an Ivy League

    • Alison V.

Jenny is a good person, she probably sees this as someone who is trying to help her do her job.  I'm sure this person was just trying to be helpful.  They may not realize how much time goes into this site and how easily “mommy brain” can take over.  For the record, I didn't notice it, either.  Coming from an editor with severe mommy brain.

      • Ron704

Thank you for that.  The intent was never to malign.  I wanted to save her embarassment should others catch on.  I can't do much about my background in this field.  I am very aware that this site takes a lot of energy.  Congratulations to Jenny on finding something she does well and is able to stay at home and take care of her children.  She seems so professional in every other way.  I don't always agree with her on some of her postings, but that kind of dialogue should be encouraged and not considered rude. If more of us spoke to each other it could make a real difference in the quality of our lives.  Thank you again.

        • Guest

I think you're right, Ron704, but more importantly, I want to thank you and all the other people who have replied to you for a great LOL this evening!  Very entertaining. :)

          • Ron704

Whew.  I never meant for what I thought was an innocuous comment to take on such a life.  For all the flaggers, wow, flag someone's comment into oblivion out of spite. Tsk. Tsk.

    • Ron704

You're just off base about this. Jenny gets paid quite a bit by all the advertisers on here, and receives a great deal of freebies for doing all this. Every company that has a logo on this site pays her, not to mention stuff like La Rue which made her quite a bit of money.   It was just a couple days ago that she spoke of a trip to Rhode Island.  Do you really think she paid those expenses out of pocket?  So get real, while this site might be beneficial to a lot of people, Jenny is not doing this out of the kindness of her heart. She may enjoy this and seems to be suited for it, but it seems that your defense is exaggerated. As for posting the correction here rather than sending her an email, the point is well taken. I should have been more thoughtful and sent the email directly. And yes, my eyes go immediately to word usage errors. I'll make no apologies for my degrees in English Ed and creative writing. What piques my interest are those who think these matters trivial, yet would be irritated by other types of errors such as mathematical, logic perhaps or just inaccurate information.  As for the internet not being a spelling/grammar class, au contraire.  The medium has changed, but not the message.  We should not allow ourselves to be any less correct just because it’s the internet.  To do anything else is just continuing the dumbing down of America, and I will never support that.   Actually, grocery store signage is the worse abuse of the language.  Take a long, hard look next time, and explain to me why signs say cheeses.  I thought it was always cheese if you had one package or fourteen billion.  No wonder kids can’t get it right.  They have bad examples at the hand of marketers who think they own the language.  Nuff said.

    • Donna

You are right – signage is scaring me in the grocery store, in restaurants, on billboards and almost everywhere else you look.  Why can't children spell?  Too bad because I really like a “Dunkin' Donut”.  Why couldn't it have been ” Dunking Doughnuts”? You're right – “Nuff”.

    • Ayeartogive

Do you mean 'Enough' said? Instead of Nuff? Just asking. By the way in the south we say peak.

    • Ron704

      Thanks for your oneupsmanship.

    • Victoria

Ron704 get a life…. if you have such a problem with Jenny doing all this work for YOU to get freebies and save money maybe you should look for another website. Sit down, shut up and enjoy the deals !

    • Eddie

Anyways F what Ron has to say..can anyone explain what the Easy Rebate is?

    • JTTLC

Wow…..cannot say I expected such behavior on here.  To make a comment like that was really not necessary……after all we pay nothing for this service and I can honestly say I could not live without it.  To make a rude comment is just low class to say the least……I think the person with the bigger problem is the one who thinks he/she needs to make a smarta$$ comment to someone working their butt off to help US! I do hope if your plans are to be rude please chose another site where such behavior is welcomed.  I would much rather include myself with other decent people that really focus on their families and making positive comments to help each other live our best life both financially and spiritually…….Now I need to sign off as I am fixen to write a Masters Forensic Psychology paper ya'll……:)))))))))  LOL

    • Lacat

Those poly envelopes are great for keeping your coupons in for each store.  Just label them with the store's name and you can pull out the ones you use for that store and put them in the envelope for that store when you go shopping.

      • Lovelyflowerpetals

Thats exactly why I went and bought some!

      • Lisabluedevil

I put my coupons, southern saver printed list, and any extra bucks, reg rewards, etc. in the envelope for the store so I have everything ready to go each week.

If you have ever looked at Jenny's entire web site, you would know she is a mother of three children and maintains a household and a web site. How she does it, I can't even imagine…. She is trying to help others. No one is perfect! I make mistakes all the time…just ask my own children, husband, and my students. I am grateful for Jenny and what she does. As my  6th grade students would say to you Mr. Ron704, “Don't hate, appreciate.” Jenny…you are appreciated!!!!!!!

    • Ron704

Your triteness is spellbinding.  You scare me by saying you teach. To turn my comment about using the correct word into something that you deemed hateful is mind-blowing. Perhaps it's you've only been teaching for a short while that causes you to view the world in such sophomoric terms.  Get a grip.  No one said she wasn't appreciated.  But let's put this in perspective.  I've said I don't know how many times what a good job Jenny does.  So pay attention.  But to enshrine her as some do-gooder who devotes practially all of her energy and time to this website is not reasonable.   Again, Jenney gets paid quite well from every last business who is named on this site.  It is a business, people, not a charity.

    • Ron704

I agreed with you about sending her a private email, but it seems as if the children have flagged that comment.

    • Ron704

Maybe with all that knowledge, you can figure out how people get hard wired to prosletize their relgion on here.

    • Sarah

And your AN asshole not a saint..Flag that!

    • Ron704

Folks like you who expect everyone to walk to the earth with a smile on their face all day scares the life out of me.  Maybe it's true–we're all just robots who are predestined and programmed by our life's experience to respect/react any given way. PS, I hardly had a frown on my face or hate in my heart or anything else negative when I wrote that first piece.  Get off your drugs, whatever form they take and join the world in reality, not as some Disney movie.

    • Valencia Tupper

Wasn't there a post it coupon recently?  I can not seem to find it.

      • Tina

I would like to differ on that.  I'm from the South.  I'm just about as Southern as you can get, especially geographically.  Here, we say “pique.”

    • Eddie

Wow, thanks for being the voice of America. I'm glad to know that you are speaking on my behalf. What would I do without good people like you to look out for me. …”write something like this.” Are you serious? Hyperbole. Groupthink is a wonderful thing.

    • Sarah

Grammar is important for all, with that said, is this really the best format? Life is short folks…treat people with respect or pray for them. I little kindness goes a long way.

      • Ron704

You have the mind of a mentally-challenged six-year old.
