tanga helicopter deal

Tanga has an Indoor Remote Control Helicopter for $14.99 shipped.  These are fun little gadgets, they usually run for around $25 on various sites, so this isn’t a bad deal to save $10.

We gave a few as Christmas gifts last year and they were loved by all.

Would it be ok for a 4 1/2 year old to play with?

The controls on these things usually require some advanced fine motor skills and coordination. I would say 8 at the youngest.

      • Denalowenberg

My husband had a hard time with the controls because they were so sensitive. I don’t think it would work for younger children at all. And they really are not durable either.

Meh.  We bought one for my BIL for Christmas a few years ago (not sure of the brand), and we were not impressed.

It DOES depend on the maker. We’ve had a few terrible ones, but the one I found last year for my husband (for about $25 on Amazon) was terrific! It had an internal gyroscope, very stable, durable. Its fame has spread within our family and Dad, brother and two BIL’s all ended up getting one for themselves. So yes, they CAN be a ton of fun.

Do you have the specific name brand?

Here, copied the title from the listing at Amazon. Right now it’s only $20 (and eligible for free super-saver shipping).

          Syma S107/S107G R/C Helicopter – Yellow

These are actually made for kids with downs syndrome.

We ordered these a while back when they were sold as a set of 3 for $45.  My son just opened his up a few days ago for his birthday.  It lasted for about 10 minutes, max.  The outside of the box says it’s for ages 14+.  My boys are 4 and 7, but my husband couldn’t have made it last any longer than 10 minutes.

    • I seriously recommend checking out the Syma S107 if you want a GOOD helicopter. I ordered one on amazon awhile ago, and will be buying more for Christmas presents! My 12 year old plays with it daily, and so far the only issue we had was the remote stopped charging the heli, so we just plug it into our computer’s usb port. It came with a usb charger too! It rocks, really worth the $20 I spent!!!   HA I just realized someone posted below about the same one!! I wrote a review awhile back on my blog about it, I am so impressed with it :)

That’s funny that you love these too! And yes, definitely NOT like any other $20 helicopter out there.

As a wife of a diehard r/c man…it truly is “you get what you pay for” in the hobby.  If you just want to mess a bit and see if your child/husband is interested in the hobby, then these are fine.  BUT they truly do not fly as well as the more expensive, quality ones and will cause more heartache than joy in the end.  Unfortunately, this is one thing that coupons cannnot reduce in price and you just have to pay the premium…BUT isn’t that why we coupon?  So we can afford some luxuries?

The Syma S107 will change your mind (see below). :)

As a starter copter, I’m sure the Syma is great.  :)

agree…I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail priices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for.

Warning: Do not buy this helicopter… mine arrived and given as gift to friend’s son… batteries in correctly and neither power light or charge light come on.  Called Midwest Trading Group (as instructed on enclosed matterial)… they want me to pay to ship back to them (as the rep says: “because that’s how it works”)!!!
