I know you guys are around for deals, but I thought I would let you know about the fun we are having in all our travels. Currently I have college student (Amanda) in LA with TJ Maxx at the Teen Choice Awards and I’m in Manhattan for Blogher.  So far we are both having a blast.

If you want to see pictures of all the celebrities stopping by the T.J. Maxx Teen Choice Awards Swag Suite, or all the adventures I’m up to NY and bloggers I’m meeting follow @SouthernSavers on twitter.

To help you guys not get confuddled, we are tweeting with separate hashtags #SSLA and #SSNYC.  This way you don’t think I’m a crazy person that is in two places at the same time.

For those not on twitter…

Yesterday my husband I got in to NYC around 9 am. I posted a few deals for you guys from the backseat of a Taxi and then we headed off on an entire day of fun.  Everything we did yesterday was FREE!  First we rode the Staten Island Ferry, it goes right by the State of Liberty and Ellis Island.  Went over and then came right back, absolutely no charge.  After walking and site seeing we ended our day being in the audience for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.  Tickets to NBC shows are also FREE!

Total spent so far:  $27 for a week long unlimited Metro Pass.

(I’ll post the LA pictures later tonight or first thing tomorrow for non twitter folks.)

Whoo Hooo – sounds like fun – keep us all informed and have a GREAT time!

    • Shannon

Glad you are going to be a studio audience. You can't beat the price of free. Have you gone into any Duane Reade drug stores to see if they have deals? ;-)

    • Laura Z

      Hope you are having fun!

Just so you know, the Metropolitan Museum of Art price is a “suggested donation.” You can pay $1 and get in. Locals know this, but not a lot of tourists!

    • Rielcoupons

How much for the taxi ride?

    • Sara

Where did you all eat? Thats what can be a killer

    • Melanie

      Have fun!

    • Guest

Where did you stay that can be the killer too as not everyone can get a free trip to NYC or LA :) A nice hotel in NYC can run 150 plus. Before when i went to NYC you had to request tickets a long time ahead to go to show. Can't go to NYC without a Broadway way show they do have last day sales by the way.

      • I'm also wondering where you guys stayed, what is also Free? Looks like you had a blast at NYC.

There is a lottery held 1 1/2 hours before every Wicked show. They will pull 26 names for front row seats that are really cheap, about $25. Each person can enter for a chance to win 2 tickets.

Jenny uses a Macbook Pro! My husband would love this. He works for Apple. :)

YEAH you got the metro pass!!! Quite a deal…….so, if you don't know where you will have brunch on Sat am, the HK Restaurant (that's Hell's Kitchen) is adjacent to the flea market referred to by someone else (btwn 8th and 9th, i think)and has bottomless mimosas and bloody mary's………cash only there but great food and open air seating for fabulous people watching and the flea market is pretty cool……

I've never been to NY either, and we LOVE Jimmy Fallon too! And we can see him for free!? (If we're there..) That would be even better!

    • Julie

    • Gina4ever0

Sure looks like fun! Theres so much to do in NY … Try something new that you've never ate before! Let us know…

We went to NYC back in April and had a great time without spending much $$$. We only took the train in from Brooklyn and then walked & walked & walked.

We did the lottery for tickets to Rock of Ages and paid $26.50 each (cash only). You can get the sheet w/ the list of performances that have the lottery option at the Times Square Information office. One desk as the list of lottery tickets and the other desk gives you the times of the performance. Most of them you have to show up 2 hours before showtime.

    • Keren

Jenny, were you on the Today show this morning? I saw a group of women from BlogHer and Al Roker actually made an indtroduction…..did you ever think your blog would land you there? ;)
