There are various restaurants across the US offering a free meal to Veterans or current Service Personnel.  I’m listing the ones that I know of, please comment if you know of any others!

***To see the complete list of dining coupons and deals go here.***

All offers require proof of service.

McCormick & Schmicks, Nov. 8th – go here for participating restaurants
(reservations are recommended)

Applebee’s, Nov. 11th all day – more information (thanks Robin!)

Golden Corral, Nov. 16th 5-9pm – more information

UNO Chicago Grill, Nov. 11th – free Entree with purchase of any entree – more info (thanks Connie!)

Other Discounts:

10% off at Lowes – Nov. 6-11, Valid ID or proof of service required

There are rumors of Home Depot doing the same discount but I can’t find anything with this years date on it.

Free Folding Cane, Nov. 11th at all Sams Club Locations – for Veterans needing mobility assistance.

Just an FYI for other military families, Lowes and Home Depot have a 10% military discount year round with your i.d! :)

      • Alison V.

i didn’t know that! and they’ve never offered that info! i’m going to check with ours to see if they do that.

        • Julie

FYI: In Chattanooga, we were told that Lowe’s & Home Depot leave it up to the store manager to decide whether or not to honor this. Unfortunately, our Home Depot manager chooses not to, so we shop at Lowe’s.

      • Doug

Lowe’s and Home Depot do NOT have a 10% military discount year round. The individual store managers determine local promotional offers. The corporation does approve 10% on certain holidays like Veteran’s Day for example. I have noticed that there are certain stores near military installations that do offer it year round, but at a risk to their margin. The stores where I live now don’t make enough money to offer discounts year round. It is basically on a store by store basis. However, it seems that more don’t offer the discount because the manager’s are bonused on store profit and giving up 10% to veterans would eat into that bonus check. Trust me….this is “insider” knowledge.

    • Just FYI, for anyone in the service….Lowe’s always gives a 10% military discount any time you go….at least the one here in Charleston, SC does….so anyone who has a military i.d. don’t forget to use ANY time you go to Lowe’s!!!! :)

    • Jennifer

As far as Lowe’s and Home Depot are concered, almost all of them always offer this discount. They aren’t always happy about giving it because they have to call a csm at most, but we always get the discount.

    • Just an FYI- Home Depot and Lowe’s give a 10% military discount all year long. You just have to ask for it and show a valid Military ID!

    • Maria

Dollar General Mkt had a coupon in the sunday fly for 10%. This is for veterans and active military only to be used on Veterans Day

    • Amanda

Thank you so much Jenny! My Mom’s husband is going to be home for R&R time during this time so he will get lots of yummy free food before going back to Afghanistan. You’re the best.

    • Tracey

Wow, it looks like the hubby and I will be eating good next week. Thanks Jenny, I just made my reservations for McCormick & Schmicks!

    • Peggy

Lowe’s and Home Depot always ‘compete’ with each other. So if Lowe’s advertises it, then Home Depot will honor it. Unfortunately, the military discount varies by region. We always were able to get it in East Tn., but when we moved to Middle Tn. the stores here won’t do it. We’ve asked MANY times…always to be turned down unless it’s Veteran’s Day, Memorial Day, etc.

    • gjn

For all you lady veterans out there, Christopher and Banks gives 10% military discount all year long. Just show proof of status.

    • Ooops! Sorry I missed that on your above list! I’m so sorry! My eyes are playing tricks on me!

    • scott

EVERYONE OF YOU CAN GET A 10% DISCOUNT AT LOWES ANYTIME YOU WANT TO!!!!…..HERE’S THE SECRET***************GO TO YOUR LOCAL POST OFFICE AND ASK FOR A CHANGE OF ADDRESS PACKETT….INSIDE YOU WILL FIND A 10% OFF COUPON THAT CAN BE USED FOR ANYTHING IN STORE…EVEN SPECIAL ORDERS…….AND HERE’S THE GOOD PART….THEY ARE GOOD FOR UP TO $5,000.00 PURCHASE, WHICH WOULD MEAN $500.00 SAVINGS. THE NEWEST ONE OUT EXPIRES I THINK FEB. 20….IF THEY GIVE YOU AN OLD PACKET IT WILL HAVE EX. DATE OF OCT. 31….IF YOU GET THAT ONE TELL THEM YOU WANT A CURRENT PACKET THAT HAS A CURRENT COUPON…THE OLD PACKETS SHOULD HAVE BEEN PULLED IN EARLY OCT….AND YES, I WORK AT THE POST OFFICE

      • Veteranof20years

Of course if Lowes catches on to this trick of yours the rest of us veterans that are thankful for the assistance will see as will the rest of you see increases in prices to account for the masses coming in with change of address Lowes coupons. Smart or not…you decide !
This is what happens also when a store is robbed !

        • scott

OH, BY THE WAY….I AM A VETERAN TOO….10 YEARS…..SPENT 7 MONTHS ON A SHIP IN PERSIAN GULF OFF THE COAST OF IRAN DURING THE IRAN HOSTAGE CRISES IN 1979 – 1980. I DONT THINK ANY OF US VETERANS HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE PROBLEM YOU JUST MENTIONED. THE USPS PRINTS OVER 50 MILLION OF THESE PACKS A YEAR. LOWES CAN ONLY HOPE THAT EVEN 5 % OF THESE ARE REDEEMED. IF THEY DIDN’T WANT THEM REDEEMED THEY WOULDNT BE SPONSORING THE PROMOTION….RIGHT? THANKS THOUGH FOR YOUR CONCERN OF YOUR FELLOW VETS……..SCOTT

          • scott

OH, AND ALSO, CHECK OUT EBAY…THERE ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE SELLING THESE SAME USPS / LOWES COUPONS….NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL “LOW”

            • Danyelle

Thanks for the great idea on the Lowe’s coupon and for your service to our country! By the way…writing in all caps is like shouting.

    • Michael in Seattle

Famous Dave’s BBQ is also offering free meals to us Veteran’s. Just thought I’d throw that out there. And, Golden Corral is not offering their free meal on Veteran’s Day, but the following Monday.

      • Nick

The Famous Dave’s in Kennewick, WA and Tualatin, OR will not be offering any free meals on Thanksgiving.

It’s a good idea to check with you local franchise, as it is a franchise option and not a corporate endorsed promotion.

    • All veterans and active military can get a doughnut of any variety from any Krispy Kreme on Veterans Day! Yum!

    • Shauna

Bass Pro Shops have a Veterans discount every month from the 15th through the 22nd. Also, TGI Fridays is giving 20% off your entire check (excluding alcohol of course) for veterans day.

    • Natasha

Thank you to all VETERANS and ACTIVE DUTY military. Thank you for your sacrifice!
