Slow week at WAGS -which works our perfectly because CVS has an awesome ad!

      • Becca

i agree. i think cvs is having some good deals this week.

      • KatSlay

Also remember the new CVS coupon policy on B1G1F q’s!  It makes the sale that much better!

    • Vicki

A little confused on the Schick deal – it says $4 RR for Schick Hydro Silk, Power Select or 5 Blade. It then lists coupons for Schick Intuition and Schick Quattro. Do these match up? Anyone?

      • Gmcouponer

In this Sundays paper there should be a coupon for the Shick Hydro, Its a 2.00 coupon I think. If you look a few pages over up in deal area in the upper right hand of the page you will find the list for the coupons coming out on sunday

      • Guest

No, the coupons don’t match up.  It happens all too often.  The coupon database that is used doesn’t use a sanity check so anything that is a “close” match is thrown up hoping it sticks.  The argument that many will give is that “Jenny is very busy and she makes mistakes. People are supposed to read the coupons they use before they use them to make sure they match the product. Deal with it.”  I’ll play the devil’s advocate and say that match-up errors are far too common nowadays and with the website raking in $$$$$ monthly income from affiliate click throughs, referrals, coupon printing, etc. there should be some double checking of the coupon match-ups and accountability of ad accuracy since the website is making money from the site users.

        • Vicki

Ouch. Okay – I didn’t think that they matched, but thought that perhaps a CVS employee may know something that I don’t know. I always look at my stuff very carefully; I don’t blindly trust the website, but this doesn’t bother me since it’s a service that I’m not paying for. I realize that money is being made, but I’m not paying it. So I take what’s there gladly and do my homework. I realize that it’s frustrating sometimes, especially for new couponers who don’t realize that errors are made. But I am super thankful for this site – I would not be as successful without it. And I would never venture to guess what the site owner makes financially. Without facts to back me up, I don’t think that anyone would take me seriously. Just my opinion.

        • Kcreviews

While I agree there should be double checking, I suggest you take your grievances straight to Jenny in an email and stop filling up her comment area with insults.

          • Kcreviews

Sorry, this site keeps double posting me…don’t know why.,

        • Phairplu

It is amazing to me that you can spew such vitriol when you don’t even have the curtesy to put a name to your “presence”.    Are you perhaps a competitor with your own site that you are trying to cause trouble here?

          • Guest

No spewing of vitriol since the post wasn’t bitter at all – just stated facts.  Not a competitor, either.  Just tired of week after week of match-ups with wrong coupons.  The CS folks at my local stores brace themselves when there are a slew of mismatched coupons since they have to deal with stream of couponers who insist “that the coupons are the correct ones to use on product X because Jenny says they are.”  As a result, the honest couponers suffer.

It would take just an extra minute or two for a sanity check of coupon match-ups before the list is published for viewing of the 42,000 daily southern savers website visitors.

            • mrn1

I agree to an extent, but all too many times the slew of mismatched coupons are the dishonest people trying to pull one over on the cashiers, not as a result of Jenny posting a mismatched coupon.  Just go read the Publix ad comments and read how many times people recommend the use of 2 different Cheerios store coupons that aren’t matches and Jenny never said they were.  People actually tell others to use incorrect coupons knowing they aren’t a match because “it still works”.  I have had this debate multiple times with folks on this site.    When Jenny accidentally misposts a coupon match-up, at least we can encourage its removal with the blue button.

            • Learn22read

I suggest you use another website or go the old fashion way..  What is it to you?  Sure the coupon values will go down.. If you can do what Jenny does and you know so much, start your own website and get paid as well.. Your comments will not stop those who may knowingly or mistakenly use coupons incorrectly.. I read and use coupons correctly but coupon police officers get on my nerves..  lol

            • Thanks for your feedback.  I actually have three sets of eyes look at every list just to try to catch errors, but to be honest every day there are normally 4-5 lists to be done (even on the weekends) and the coupon errors don’t always jump out you.
We are scanning correct products, sizes, prices, coupons, and math for each item and that’s a lot to catch.  If you have any desire to help though send me an email and I’ll be glad to put ya to work!!  jenny @ southernsavers . com

          • Amandasl25

And just to add:  How would a normal person even know that 42,000 people have visited this website, Why would the normal couponer even care how many people come here ? we are here for 1 thing save !

        • Barbara Schmitz-Barber

I agree, people act like coupon bloggers do this out of the goodness of their hearts and for free on their own time…they have no idea of the amount of income that comes from these sites and all the perks aside from income, gift cards from all their local grocery stores…full products from companies such as Keurig…trips all over the world, etc.  They really need to make sure they have accurate info otherwise eventually people and beginners not double checking the work will have multiple problems at stores with things not matching up and they’ll eventually stop using the blogger’s site and find another  that’s more accurate.

          • Coldmamajenn

I agree it’s so annoying to see an awesome deal here then when you check the coupons it doesn’t match. I have actually stopped reading the lists Jenny makes. Instead I check over my local ad myself, use the coupon database up top to match them up. The main reason I come is for the comments that people like you and others make. It is so helpful to find out what works, what doesn’t, if a certain coupon is giving some people trouble, whether or not it is even worth it to go to certain stores and deals that I didn’t spot. I have looked at other websites, but the people here seem to more informed about what you should or shouldn’t do as far as using coupons the way they are supposed to used. So I came for the deals, but stayed for the company!

            • Barbara Schmitz-Barber

Yes, I read just the comments as well because it’s nice to post or hear about “extra bonus finds” in the stores and to see if anyone else was having problems at the store that day etc!

      • Sorry for the error.  Thanks for pointing it out, that’s the best way to me to know to fix it.  The folks below are right (and wrong on somethings) this does take a ton of time to cover 22 stores each week and all too often I rely too much on the database and the folks that help me to get the matchups right.  I apologize and wish that it could always be perfect.

If you ever see other errors leave a comment or use the blue button at the bottom of the list to report the error.  I try to read comments on all the posts, but sometimes can’t get to all of them daily so the report feature helps me see it right away.

        • Jenny – The blue button is not the easiest to use.  I have scene sites that have a little X next to each item so that you can mark which ones are not working.  Then, at the bottom you can click on something like the blue button. It then automatically programs in each coupon that was selected and you just add comments (link not correct, print limit reached, does not match item, etc.)

If nothing else, if the blue button was located every section or two (especially for the longer ones), I might be more likely to use it as soon as I see a mistake. Right now, by the time that I get to the bottom of the list I have forgotten all the details about the coupon!I love your site and use it as a jumping off point to look for deals/printables that I would not normally get.

        • Thanks for all that you do Jenny!  Your site has helped me learn how to coupon and save over $800. each month!  I feel if someone finds an error they should report it on the website.  If each of us did that, we would all benefit.

    • GUEST

I’m having trouble with the site for the rebate for the savings booklet WYB $50 in products.  Can someone help me?  Thanks!

    • Solrocks_93

Question there is going to be chapstick for 99. and there is a $1 off coupon in there February Savings Book! Can i use this coupon?? Im Super Excited about this but idk if i can use this :( Someone get to me ASAP!

      • kayla0120

I am wondering the same thing and I have additional coupons so I could get two for almost nothing.

        • Solrocks_93

i had the .25 off one put i used it to get some chapsticks for .50 each. im going to try this and see how it goes. :)

          • Clouds200120022003

Please let me know how it goes. We can always use Chapstic in my home.

      • 1couponbug

No .99 Chapstick at my Walgreens. The lowest I found any of it was 1.49.

      • Khopkins

I went today to my local walgreens and tried to use the $1 off one chapstick lip care item (which the original, cherry, strawberry, etc. Are on sale for $0.99) and when the cashier scanned the coupon he said it wouldn’t take it but he would not tell me what error message he received or why it wouldnt scan. Although the picture on the walgreens coupon was a pic of the chapstick 365 lip shield (I think – i do not have the Q with me) the coupon details only said “lip care” and 0.15 oz. The chapstick I had was 0.15 oz so I am a little confused about them not accepting the coupon. Normally the coupon will specifically state if it is only for a certain type, flavor, or other variation. I know walgreens does not give overage but some stores will give allow you to use a coupon even if it is higher than the amount of the product but you will not get the full value of the coupon deducted. Ex: chapstick on sale for $0.99 – $1.00 Q (but they only take $0.99 off instead of the full $1.00) = Free. Anyone else had this problem? Or did I miss something on the Q itself or their Q policy that states why they didn’t accept this Q for this item??? Thanks!!!

        • Walj

The coupon was intended for the chapstick that has spf only.  They somehow became linked and should have been removed from the stores computers to not allow it to work on other chap sticks.  The coupon does not give specific details, but does show the picture.

    • I need examples from someone of fillers for 10 cents, please!

      • table43

Usually check in the seasonal section for items such as pencils, pens, or novelty items (valentines). I normally hit up the clearance (or orange tags) bc I would rather spend .50c on a clearance filler that I can use, rather than something that get’s thrown away.

        • Sherry Florida

I USUALLY GET A .20 MINT AT THE REGISTER

          • kayla0120

If I have 4 items and 4 coupons, can I use more than one coupon on the same item or does it have to just be one manufacturer and one Walgreens?

            • Vicki

You can only use one manufacturer and one Walgreen’s per item. The Walgreen’s coupons don’t ‘count’ in your number of items. For instance, if you’re buying 4 items, and you have 4 manufacturer coupons for those items, you can also use 4 Walgreen’s coupons. But you do have to have one item PER manufacturer coupon, and register rewards do count as manufacturer coupons. It’s always a good idea to print out the Walgreen’s coupon policy (the official one from their website) and have it on hand. It’s amazing how many cashiers and managers don’t know what the corporate policy is.

      • Hlpowell

At my Walgreens store, the 10 cent fillers are laffy taffy and tootsie rolls.

      • 1couponbug

No 10 cent items at our Walgreens…the best I could do was the Russell Stover strawberry chocolate advertised for .39 in the ad.

      • Hollybp

They have Valentine’s pencils for .19

    • Coupongal1

How can you use a MQ & the MQ in the Answers at Walgreens booklet for the Ester-C Vitamin supplement 500 mg, 90 ct?

      • Hollybp

I tried to do that yesterday by mistake and could not since the Wags coupon says “Manufacturer coupon good only at Walgreens.”

      • Goseeray

You can’t, I tried. The $1.50 cpn in the vitamins and supplements booklet is a MQ only good at Walgreens. It is not a in-store couponyhat can be combined wit a MQ.

    • Sewingmom2

For those of us who have matured enough to have an AARP card, be sure to get it scanned every time you make a purchase at Walgreens, I got a $5.00 off coupon this morning and other cents off coupons because of my AARP card. Walgreens is a great place to shop

      • Guest

If you spend $20 in-store from 1/29 to 2/25 you will receive a RR for $5 off if you are an AARP member.

    • xundre

hey guys, I just started couponing and not very familiar on what’s a good deal on mouth wash. Walgreen has scope mouth wash on sale for 2.99 is that a good deal or not? With the dollar off coupon it would be 1.99 don’t know if I should stock up on this or not?

      • 1couponbug

Not a great “stock up” price. Jenny lists the lowest price items with an acorn in the upper left corner.

        • Savingsbycoupons

I wont pay more than $1 and i hate even paying that…

      • MiksMomma

With Lowe’s Foods Super Doubles this week, I got Scope for .99 using a $1 couple that doubled.  I actually got 2 of these.  I think .99 for mouthwash is a pretty good deal.

    • Janey

If you go to the same link as the sugar coupon and enter zip 29072 you will find the same sugar coupon, but you’ll also find a coupon for Clean and Clear, which is also on sale in this Walgreen ad.

    • Sstrr

Just came from Walgreen and they would not let me use the Vicks coupons and get the RR. Just left with out buying the Vcks things. Has this happen to anyone else?

      • Ladymoon0121

I called Customer Service this morning about another issue  regarding a RR not printing. I was told by the girl on the phone that it was in their coupon policy that you can not use coupons on items that will print out a RR and get a RR. Which I just reread their coupon policy and I I do not see any such thing.

        • VP22

Well that’s a crock of crap. Excuse me, let me just say the rep was “misinformed”. It is not in the coupon policy not to mention you can look through this week’s ad and see examples where Wags actually tells you to use a coupon and get a reward. For example, on page 4 of my ad this week it says Glade Candles 2/$6 – $1RR – $2 coupon in Suday’s paper, like paying 2/$3. Clearly they are saying you can have both. I would call back and I would bring that up.

          • Savingsbycoupons

I had the manager of a store tell me that once- she printed my RR but made sure to tell me how she may get fired for it.

            • VP22

I just don’t understand how they advertise one thing and then give you such a hard time especially when you are an ethical couponer “trying” to do things by the policy they created. I do wish they would educate all cashiers, managers and customer service reps with the same universal policy. I believe that a lot of times some don’t know and they just come up with their own ideas.

        •  I’m not sure what you bought, but sometimes if you use a coupon that is the same value as the RR the computer gets confused and won’t print the reward :(  Could that have been it?

          • Ladymoon0121

I was trying to purchase the Cottonelle, which at the time I did not know it was a not working  deal. I have emailed corp. about the whole thing because I was confused after rereading thier policy and what the customer service rep. said. I love your site by the way.

      • Henaomiller

I got 3 vicks and  3 puffs, used the 3.00×3 and .25 coupons and got the 5RR back all worked fine!

    • 1couponbug

Didn’t find a lot of deals at Walgreens, but I DID go early enough to the 24 hr store to partake of the Got2B products B1G1 50% off. Hair spray and mousse 1.50 each with the $3 RP coupon! (or 1 free and 1 @ 2.99) Nice little stockpile of hair products!!!

      • Vicki

Actually, I think the CVS deal may be better this week. The Got2B products are on sale for $3.99, then you use the $3 Q and get them for 99 cents! I went ahead and got several extra coupons on eBay so
I could buy several. If they’re out, I’ll just get rain checks. Your deal was pretty good, too!

        • Efranks41

Yes, that CVS deal sounds better. The only problem with CVS is we only have one store in Tupelo, MS and they are usually out of EVERYTHING (especially the good sale items) by the time I can get there. We attend church on Sunday AM and and they are wiped out by the time I get there!  I had to get up early for Walgreens, but at least I got what I went for!

        • Vicki

Yes, I know what you mean! We’re in church on Sunday mornings, too, but I have just learned that stuff will probably be out, and I just pick up rain checks. They never expire at CVS and you have to ask them to write the event number on it if it’s a deal where you get ECBs. I bought 20 of the Got2B coupons on eBay and I’m sure I’ll have to get several each week at CVS to use them. I have also had them order a quantity of items specifically for me, and they have always been happy to do so. The thing to look out for on the rain checks is that no matter what the quantity on your rain check, if the store does not have that many in stock, you lose the remainder or your rain check – they will not write you another one for the difference, so I tend to get a few rain checks for smaller quantities. The other option is to go to your CVS on Saturday nights. The sales (as long as it’s not a 24 hour store) will usually start around 6 or 7pm. You manager can tell you…

Did not get my $3 rr when buying the Cottonelle 2 @ $5 each this morning. Is this working for anyone?

      • Bonbon

Nope, if you check out couponnetwork which has the details about the promotion, Walgreens is not a participating store for this promo.  I don’t think it was supposed to be Register Rewards you got, it was just supposed to be a catalina.

    • Red40601

I got my Huggies slip on little movers for 4.99 a pack. So tickled and didn’t have to worry about register rewards.

    • Ambrosia1

does anyone else have a problem with printing coupons from smartsource..?

      • luv2save

I do!!! I am on a Mac and have the newer versions of safari and always get a message that  i need to install java, which I already have – it usually ends up in a cycle of me trying the same things over and over and not getting to print OR using up my allotted prints trying to figure out the problem.  I think the issue is that smartsource doesn’t work on latest version of safari yet, or something…

        • Babybird125

GO INTO YOUR DOWNLOADS FOLDER AND CLICK JAVA TO RUN IT… if its saved but not activly running it wont work (after fightin for awhile techo geek fieancee fixed it :)  )

          • Love the savings

Same thing happened to me!  I was getting so mad and then when I finally started snooping and found the download icon I took a chance and BAM, there was Java waiting to finish being installed!!!!  I felt so stupid.  lol

      • ericswifeowensmom

I downloaded it and ran it and it still didn’t work. If this is your issue then maybe I can help. I went to add-ons and deleted all Java associated add-ons. I also uninstalled java. I deleted all cookies as well. I re-installed java and it works brilliantly now. Someone told me that Java was owned by Sun but was bought out by Oracle and that caused issues with functionality of the program working correctly????? Anyway, another solution was to print from Internet Explorer if you were previously using Firefox.

the walgreens closest to my house have some mean old ladies that will not allow coupons so i drive 15 miles to the next town’s walgreens and there is a wonderful man casher who didn’t care what kind of coupons i use, he just rings it up with a smile. it’s the people who works at walgreens that make up rules and policies as they go. just remember, if we dont go shop there, they will not have a job. take your business elsewhere

      • Solrocks_93

        That Really Sucks!!
Have You Ever Tryed to Show Them The Walgreens Coupon Policy?
If Its In Print They Cant Argue With You ;)

      • DNAtoUSA

I too have found that not all Walgreens are the same. I am very lucky I have many WAGS near my house, so I can go to the best ones.

    • Coupons_barrett

Went Walgreens and they weren’t aware of the cottonelle RR. Did anyone have luck with this.

      • Jcwiakala_44

Walgreens is not participating in this Catalina deal. Jenny posted this in the Walgreens clearance post.

    • Mslonas

looks like a good week to stock up on diapers and laundry det!

    • Tcmb04

I am new to this yet and everytime I try I seem not be getting it right to pay the least amount possible. Can someone give me a scenario for the things I want to buy?
Gillette fusion, fixodent, sundown, Crest 3d Whitestrips, and on another site I saw Walgreens is suppose to have the good nites for 6.75 each and BOG50% off.
I have all the coupons for these things. Would really appreciate.

      • Jcwiakala_44

A suggestion when making your scenarios–start with your best deals first, especially if you have any money makers.

    • bdmommy

The Almay deal did not work at my Walgreens. The Walgreens store coupon is for threee specific items and the one listed above is not one of them. The cheapest one that it applied to at my Walgreens was 9.99 each so the best deal possible is $5 (2.50 ea) for the two concealers, still not a bad deal but not as good as I’d hoped.

      • JB

I found the concealer listed for $7.99 and I had the $1 off coupons for each and the Walgreen’s coupon book…BUT when I went to go pay, there little mix up…long story short, the manager wouldn’t give me the deal because the Walgreen’s coupon states that only one offer was allowed meaning I either get the B1G1 50% off deal  OR use the Walgreen’s coupon :(

    • Aman

Can we combine the $5 catalina from walgreens with the $5 manufacturer coupon for the same product? The catalina says manufacturer coupon at the top.

      • Aman, you can use your Register Reward (or Catalina coupon) on any product in the store, but it counts as a manufacturer coupon. You can only use one manufacturer coupon per item you purchase, so if you have two mfr coupons, then you must purchase at least two items.  Hope that helps!

        • Aman

Jenny, Thank you so much for replying to my question. I appreciate all your help in helping me save money. I have learned a lot from your website and still learning. Thank you for everything you do for us.

    • Gmcouponer

My Wag had the got2b for bogo and the main cost was 5.99 that made them 2.99 and 3.00 each I got them and was able to use my 3.00 coupon with each one making them free. I did have to add a filler item cause the coupon started cutting into the tax. But still got them for free, oh I did have to pay the tax…. Yea the kids will love them….

    • HAPPYINHARNED

I absolutely LOVE this site and have used it since starting to coupon in November. Anyone can make a mistake with listing the coupons but I am diligent about checking my coupons and make sure to use the appropriate coupon as to size, brand, number ect. Jenny….keep up your excellant work. I try other sites too, but this one is the simplist and easiest!

    • dvoted 2 Qpons

I did the vicks, puffs deal bought 3 of the 5.99 cough syrup, and 3 boxes of puffs but did not get a RR. The store said I had to spend $20 in actual money and since I used coupons I was only spending a little over $11in cash and the purchase did not qualify for RR’s. I coupon all the time and have never had this happen before does anyone know if this is just on P&G RR.

    • Guest

I went to my closest Walgreens just for the Disney/Marvel vitamins, but they were not 1/2 off. I don’t see their weekly ad either.
Did anyone find this deal in their Walgreens?

      • Coupongal1

The last page of the weekly ad says B1G1 free sale and says Disney and other vitamins.  I am not seeing 1/2 off in my ad but you would think it would be on sale at the Walgreen stores.  I am wanting to check it out and will go there today.

      • Love the savings

My store did not have the sign up, but it was in the weekly ad.  I bought 2 Disney vitamins today.  They were 6.99 and I used 1.50 Q from the Answers book and 1.00 Q from SS.  The total price was 4.49 or $2.25 each

      • Guest

I tried another Walgreens and they were BOGO so I got two, used two $1.25 coupons and the register gave me a $2/2 coupon back. So I got two more! Great deal!

    • Rebadarlene

i went to my walgreens yesterday and today looking for the lysyl cold sore and couldnt find it . so i ask the assisted manager and she told me  that they havent gotten  it in yet and i told her it wasnt listed or labeled and she informed me thats because they dont carry it …. why do they have sales on things they dont cary

    • Toezuki

Rebadarlene, same thing happened to me today at the Walgreens in Montgomery, Al store Manager and sales associate had no idea, nor did it have a place in that section he said it happens sometimes, the shipments don’t come in before the papers come out, I’ll go back later in the week and see if they have it

      • Remember, you can always get a raincheck if it is in their ad and they don’t have any instock. They will put the RR on the raincheck and force it next time you are in.

        • LLB

My Walgreens will do a raincheck but they won’t include the RR.  That is why I try to stick to CVS.  They will honor their sales if they don’t have it in stock

    • Coldmamajenn

Went to my Walgreens today for the Got2Be hair products. They were nearly cleaned out, but I got two that I need, grabbed 2 jars of JIF since I had that ad coupon making it 2.50 each and the booklet coupon for $1 of of 2, found some seasonal M&M’s on sale 4 for $3 and some Sarna lotion. I gave the cashier 2 -1.50 off of 2 Mars candy coupons. The first on went through but the second one wouldn’t. She was super nice and looked over the register tape to see why it wouldn’t go, called a manger over and after a few minutes we realized the candy had rang up at 3 for $2 and one had rang up at .69. The manger said it was cheaper that way, not when you thought it was going to be free, but there was nothing I could do. Everything was alright until we got to the Got2Bes. The cashier actually asked me if I had those hot coupons while she was scanning, then only one went through. She again called the manger over and she told me that they could only take one. I said but its in the coupon policy to take 2 for buy one get one free items and she said yes, but not when one of the coupons would take you over the amount. I asked if they could just adjust the coupon down and was told no. They handed me back my coupon and since it had already been awhile and I had ice cream in the car, I just paid and left. The cashier was nice though and really tried to find a way for me to use my coupons, but she told me that that particular manager doesn’t like to adjust coupons down. I was dejected and was ready to go home when I checked over my receipt and realized the cashier hadn’t used my coupon to make the JIF 2.50 each so I had to go back in and deal with the manager and get what I was owed. I apologized for being a bother, since that is what I felt like, she apologized for the mix up. I had an awesome day at CVS so I was really let down by Walgreens today. I have never had a problem with coupons before at this store and thanks to this and the crappy sales recently, maybe I’ll let CVS get my business. Thanks for letting me vent!
