Are you aware that the walgreen policy either has changed or its maybe just my area. you can not have more coupons that items. and if you have a walgreen coupon you can not have a mf it you don’t have a filler item. meaning you can not have more coupons than items and their new system is super picky!!!!! and the managers are no longer forcing the coupons as they are getting in trouble and loosing their job over this. =(

      • Me

This is not new in my area….been this way since I started using coupons long time ago.

        • mrn1

I am wondering if she is meaning what I am about to say…For some deals, like the Coke/Hershey deal going on now, using RR messes up the deals and if filler items were used, may possibly have prevented the problem?  The current deal says if you spend $20 on participating products pre-coupona you will receive a $10 RR, spend $15 precoupon and receive $5 RR.  With the new registers, if you look at your receipts you will see that they link up your RR you use to an item you purchased, even if it is not for that item.  On my Coke/Hershey’s deal I bought (3) 12 packs of Coke and 2 bags of Hershey’s drops candy.  On my receipt, the RR I used from prior transactions ($2 Belvite, $2 Burts Bees, $4 Natrol Melatonin) all show up on the receipt as Coke Fridge MFG CPN $2, etc.  Because the register linked these coupons to these items, my total went below the $20 and I only received a $5 RR.  The manager on duty was awesome and re-rang the items up to print me the $10 RR.  Apparently this may be a prevalent problem with multipurchase deals/RR.

      • jessiew

all of the ones in my area have been that way since i started couponing over a year ago

      • Melinda

Not new to Greenville, SC either.  This is the policy that’s been used at my Walgreens for at least 2 years now.

      • Lizzyreedandme

that is not true. Walgreens coupons are in store coupons and can be combined with manufacturer coupons for the same item as long as the value is not more than the item.

        • jessiew

You know, now that you do mention that, i have used both and didnt need a filler item. However, if a rr is used, its like a regular coupon and you cant have less items than the total of rr and manufacturers coupons.

          • seriously

The register rewards plainly say mfg. coupon at the top and are treated as such.  At my store you may use any mfg coupon and store coupon together on a single item. Pretty sure that’s in the coupon policy online.

      • Raquel

I agree with Lizzyreedandme, I bought tums used A walgreen coupon and a manufacturer. Both for one item. You can not use 2 mfr coupons on one item. Like the RR are mfr (some publix will allow you to use them).

      • 302799

This just happened to me … I’m heading to the “online” policy to see what has changed.

        • Tigger9790

That has been that way. That is why you hear everyone talking about filler items,

    • Ragan

I can’t get the desitin coupon…anyone  know how? Thanks much!

    • jessiew

So, i have a question. I have a couple $5 off enfamil formula printed at walgreens, but states its a manufacturers coupon. Can this be used at a different place, such as walmart, target, etc.?

      • If it’s a Catalina coupon that printed at the register after your purchase, then you can use it at any store that takes Catalina coupons, such as: Kroger, Lowes Foods, Bi-Lo, Food Lion and Target.

    • Jennifer Valentine

I didn’t have time to look for very long, but I can’t find any filler items in my Wags for less than $.50 (jellybeans, yuck!).  Anyone have any ideas for cheaper filler items?

      • jessiew

i always got my husband the candybars on sale, but i havent seen those prices at .39 in a long time

      •  When there aren’t any filler items i like in an ad, I tend to get some
laffy taffy which are $0.10 a piece. At my Walgreens, I usually find them by the cashier.

I think the math on this is off:
      Buy:
      (2) Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, Serum or Wrinkle Revolution, 1.7 oz, at $21.99
      (2) Covergirl Queen Collection 1-Kit Eye Shadow at $3.49
      Use:
      (2) -$5 off Olay ProX or Regenerist facial moisturizer, PG 3/04
      (2) -$1 off Covergirl lip or eye product, RP 2/19 or PG 3/04
Total Due: $38.96Get Back: $10 RRSubmit for $15 mail in rebate(makes it $13.96 for everything)If I read it correctly, the Covergirl is B1G1 50% off, so the total would be $21.99 +$21.99 +$3.49 + $1.74 = $49.21.  You would be fine for the RR but would need 79 cents more for the rebate.  You’d have to buy two Covergirl products for $4.02 or more for it to work out to be over $50.

    • Ctcjsbag5

I have shopped for the last time at Walgreens!  I bought the Huggies wipes, used the 50 cent coupon and the Catalina did not print.  I asked the cashier why the catalina did not print and he said, “because you used a coupon with the purchase”….really?  None of the cashiers know the coupon policy.  I made him back out the transaction and give me the money back….left all my other items sitting there and left.  I am not shopping at Walgreens ever again.

      • Rachelle857

the huggies wipes catalina wasnt a guarantee.. it wasnt in their ad, it was just a lucky mistake for those who came across it! they caught it and shut it down! it wasnt the cashiers fault, although he is wrong about the coupon thing.. tht was not a guaranteed rr

        • Mel

          :( i bought 3wipes

      • seriously

Thats a little childish don’t you think, I work at walgreens and we see things like this all the time.  Yes some do need to get their facts together about the policy but it’s not the cashier’s fault that it didn’t print and you certainly should not take it out on them.  the wipes were a good deal even without the reward, you still got them for under $2 so what’s the harm in that?

        • Lucky1

I agree with the fact cashiers should know the policy. It’s not the cashiers fault it didn’t print but the cashier should not give a false answer as to why it didn’t print. The cashier should just say “I don’t know what the problem is but I will call a manager.” I have had several problems with employees at walgreens not knowing the policy. It’s not a huge policy to learn so there is no excuse for them no to know it and it would tremendously improve Walgreens customer service.

          • penny

Its still not polite to leave all the stuff there for the clerk to return, they have a hard enough job already. You could still be polite to them, perhaps even use this as a teaching scenario to educate them on something about coupons that you know that they don’t.

            • SkyBlueMoon

How is it rude to decide not to make your purchase and not to return to a store with bad customer service? Would it become less rude if you volunteered to restock the shelves of the items you placed on the counter.

            • seriously

Ok, I agree everyone should know the policy but I also agree that the customers should know it too if they are gonna try and stand behind it.  I also think they should have their stuff together at checkout and not expect the cashier to do all the work for them.  SO many times people come up to me and say there is supposed to be a coupon here for this, you need to find it.  IT’s not our job to hunt the coupons up.  The customer is resonsible for finding their own coupons.  Also it would be nice if we didn’t have to call a mgr for a refund every time someone misreads a sale tag.

            • seriously

sorry, ran out of room.  I know that’s not what happened in this case but still some helpful advice.  The cashier didn’t go get all the items off the shelf and it sure isn’t  fair to make them put it all up because you got in a tiff over a couple dollars.  I think everyone needs to work in retail just once and see what it’s like to put up with the public on a day to day basis.  I love helping my customers and do it willingly but those who are rude get no special treatment and don’t deserve any if you ask me.  I’ll get off my soapbox now. Sorry, just had to get that out.

            • Sharingastory

Last week I went to Walgreens and bought 3 Nivea body wash and had 3 coupons for them. The cashier told me she would have to ring up 3 separate transactions bc the coupon said ” one coupon per purchase”. I then said it also said “limit 4 like coupons in the same transaction”. She said but the coupon said one coupon per purchase again. I wasnt going to argue with her since she obviously didn’t understand my point. So I said well its more work for you. Then she said “honey it’s what I get paid to do”. I just laughed it off…in my head. Then I called corporate and the manager from that store called me back and said he will have a talk with her.
I just want to share that story.

            • seriously

I have to say that she has not idea what she it talking about but she has probably been scolded for coupon useage and is most likely trying to go by the rules, just doesn’t seem to understand them.  It’s sad that most of them dont’ know and have to be taught by the customer.  I’m sorry for your experience and hope it gets better.

            • Jlaleonard

“I love helping my customers and do it willingly but those who are rude
get no special treatment and don’t deserve any if you ask me”
Maybe those rude customers see you help others and not them! Maybe that is why they are rude to you. All customers should be treated equal. If you truely know customer service then the “The customer is always right” This attitude like yours paints a bad picture for Wags and explains why a couponer get treated so bad!

            • Jlaleonard

“use this as a teaching scenario to educate them on something about coupons that you know that they don’t”
Shouldn’t Wags teach them! The customer should not have to teach the employee!

          • Tigger9790

The manager can print a form you can send into catalina to get your rr reward if it doesnt print.

        • Jlaleonard

Seams kind of funny. I live in NC and I often hear this lame excuse often “because you used a coupon with the purchase” This seams to be something taught to the employees rather than Wags making the deal right for their customer. Lazy employees with poor customer service skills is what I call it!

    • Rachelle857

i was looking at the ad online and the Garnier Fructis say 3.99 each or 3/10… is tht a mis print cuz if u do the math it would be 3.33 each like jenny posted!?

      • Bamasaver

That means you now have to purchase all three to get the 3/$10 price.  If you buy only one or two, you will pay $3.99 each.  Something Wags has started doing in the past few months…means you don’t get as much of a discount w/ a B1G1 free Q also.

    • mnesota kuponer

Where do you find filler items that are 10 cents? The lowest fillers I can find at is 39 cents (royal jello, caramel candy).

      • Joan

I would like to know this, too.

      • Laurie

Sometimes they have little individual candies, like caramels and such, up by the registers at my local Walgreens.

      • Jen153

I always buy the pencils on clearance from the previous holiday. Right now I have been buying the Valentines day pencils, they are on clearance for $0.12 and my kids will need them for school anyways so it works for me :-)

    • Jen_sc

Do you think the Pampers deal is a good one this week? I would be disappointed if i used my printables at walgreens and then maybe see a better deal in a week or so. What do you guys think?

      • DG

I think diapers/ wipes are better at bilo or publix with using manu’s for each & buy pampers get wipes free publix in-ad coupon. Makes it 2.25 off + free wipes (good til tues)

        • Savingsbycoupons

Rite Aid has the best deal this week.

      • Jamesbntn

buy where you can double your coupons

      •  I went to RiteAid for Pampers, We got 3 Jumbo Packs, Used 1 1.50 off coupons, I had to get a toothbrush to put me over the $30 Mark for that Up Reward, but ended up paying a little over $30, Got back $5 from the pampers deal and $10 from the other deal they have going on!  So I walked with 3 jumbo packs of diapers and an overpriced toothbrush for right at 15 Bucks (This includes tax) That is by far the best deal I have seen or gotten lately on jumbo pampers :)

    • Jamesbntn

i have quit going to wags, just no deals. hate it but i have gone back to walmart.

Question on the rebates- is it b4 qS or after? Thanks, silly question I am sure but this will be my first. O goodness I hope all rebates have the same rules.

    • Coupon Girl

Don’t forget the Colgate-Palmolive Rebate form. Spend $10 and receive $5 rebate. Purchase 2 Softsoap body wash $6, 1 Colgate toothpaste $3, and 3 Ajax .57×3=$1.77. Total is 10.77 before Qs. Total after Qs (mentioned above in listing)=7.52.  ($7.52 – 5.00 = $2.52) Not a bad price!

      • Jordynsmommy

OOOOHHHH, I am so MAD! I had sent in the $10 Philips Sonicare rebate in December for the rechargeable toothbrush that is WAY overpriced anyway.  I checked my mail today and get a postcard saying “We thank you for your interest however we were unable to honor your request”. Because the use of manufacturer coupons at the cash register disqualify your rebate! The stupid rebate form was on the same page as the $25 Q in the paper, actually right beside each other.  Anyway, so be careful using coupons with a rebate, you may not get it…

        • Cmr69090

I experienced the same problem with the Prevacid rebate that I submitted a while back.

          • Bamabobbie

So did I.  Only sent amount less coupon and RR’s.  This is not right.

    • Miko

Does Walgreens have a limit on how many register rewards that’ll print out in one transaction for the same item? For example, I want to buy 3 Colgate toothpastes, will it print 3 register rewards or just 1? Thanks

      •  It will only print 1 per transaction. You would have to buy all 3 separatly

i am not seeing the button to click to create my list at the end of the deals?  Is anyone else having this trouble?  It isn’t here nor is it on the Staples list.  I will try another browser.  I am using safari.

It’s not on working with Firefox either.  Can you fix the problem?  I have been using your site to print my shopping lists for over 2 years and this is the first time there isn’t a button to click to create and print my list.  Thanks!

Where can I find the Discover the Value of a Great Buy booklet?

      • Amanda Kanode

I would like to know that also

    • wendy n.

I am not a big walgreens fan either, but i have to say that i got a better deal there this week on the J&J baby wash & shampoo, plus went back and used my RR and catalina and a 2nd saline spray for my little guys who are struggling w/ this pollen!!!

    • Hoover37

Omgoodness had so much fun at walgreens today. Got the 2 softsoap(fl-times-union) did not have coupons, nasal mist, coffee mate, toothpaste, and ajax( my walgreens would not let me use the ajax coupon, and coffee mate is 1.79 if you only by one, but i used $10 rr $2 rr, coffeemate, toothpaste coupons. Paid 3.08, got back $5,$3,$3 rr. Then i used the softsoap $3 rr to get toothpaste and coffeemate for $1.04, got another $3rr, so spend aprox $4 got back $11rr, so i guess walgreens pay me $6 to shop there today :) not bad for my second week of couponing

    • Lindsey Grimes

There is a $2 off coupon off 2 jumbo packs of pamper in the infant care booklet! :) makes that deal just a little bit sweeter! :)

      • seriously

please tell me where you get the infant care book?  I work at walgreens and can’t seem to find one and my mgrs don’t know either.

      • Tigger9790

The infant care booklet coupons are expired.

    • Amanda Kanode

does anyone know when walgreen’s stocks their shelves? I’ve started shopping there for their deals, but everytime I have gone they seem to not have put that item on the shelf. For instance I went on monday item wasn’t there went back friday item had been placed on shelf but was now gone. I’m just a little confused…could someone tell me when the best day to shop at walgreens is please?

      • Ed In Ncarolina

That’s the biggest problem with the Walgreens deals. Lots of new items giving RR’s never arrive the week of the sale. You may as well forget trying to guess if “a truck coming in on Thursday” will change anything. Only rarely are CVS deals better than Walgreens, BUT CVS gives rain checks (which never expire) and will print the Extra Bucks when the rain check is used.

        • Amanda Kanode

           ok thanks!

        • seriously

Walgreens also prints rain checks that never expire and will give you the item at sale price with the register reward subtracted as well.  Same deal.  Most of the time management doesn’t order enough to anticipate the need because not many of them coupon to know what will go quickly.

My wlagreens only gave me a raincheck for the sale price.manager would not subtract the RR.It was a pointless raincheck. Also my coupons expired and they still they haven’t had the product on the shelf.I checked every other day for two weeks. Will they take the expired coupons once they they arrive. The raincheck has the date I got it..I saved the raincheck, the flyer and the coupons.Should i just throw it all away?

they arent allowed 2 take an expired coupon but hopefully you may get another one to go with it.  I have seen first hand in ordering stuff for my store that sometimes we have no control over what we get.  I have ordered things for weeks at a time and sometimes it’s on back order at the warehouse and we just can’t get it no matter how hard we try,  Sometimes, however it’s just the fault of the person doing the ordering not anticipating the amount of demand for the item.  I know its frustrating but it is worth it if you hang in there.  I’d say something to management about the shelf clearing

They cannot subtract the rr amount because that is a coupon given by catalina not walgreens.

          • Mcleodsc

the ones in Sumter, SC won’t do it

        • penny

Walgreens does stock their stores, I wondered myself, but when I started being there at opening on Sunday, I realized I had an old man and his dau that were clearing the shelves on RR items. He had like 20 boxes of the free after RR aspirin, he gave me two bc he saw me walking around looking for them, but by 815 they were GONE! When they restock, they are gone again. So if you don’t clear the shelves, don’t worry someone else will!

          • penny

I also might add that they (the store clerks) usually won’t stop them from just continually ringing up 20 transactions to get as many as they can. At LEAST CVS makes you have a separate card for each trans when they have deals like this.

            • jessiew

3 out of the 4 walgreens i got to will allow up to 3 transactions, usually. The other one will allow only 1. Let me explain how it was explained to me, i gues syou could haveup to 3, thats what it used to be, but you cant buy the same items. It has to be different items. i even repeated it back to the lady, and she said yes, thats what i was told today(this was last tuesday)

          • 1couponbug

The manager should set a limit. You should complain. Maybe after enough complaints, the manager will intervene.

trucks run 2 days a week and those days change all the time.  ask your walgreens what their schedule is.

      • Cbrumbeloe10

Our Walgreens in Lewisville and Winston Salem NC stated they get their trucks on Wednesdays for Baby Items and Thursdays for everything else.

      • Mlee9104

Different Walgreens get their trucks on different days. It varies based on location.

    • Ed In Ncarolina

The Colgate MaxFresh pictured in the ad was a mistake – not on sale. But one of my Walgreens had a special display in the dental section, with Colgate Pro Clinical White for $3 with a $3 RR.

    • Tjwhited

my walgreens will not let you use two coupons if it is b1g1. I guess because the first one rings up reg. price then second is free.

      • seriously

Walgreens coupon policy states that you can use up to 2 coupons for a buy one get one free deal as long as it doens’t bring the net total down to below 0, and if the coupon is for more than the sale amount then they have to mark down the amount of the coupon to the sale amount.  You need to have your walgreens read their policy, itss on their website.

        • Jtdjagos

My Walgreens in Beaufort, SC told me you can not use 2 coupons on BOGO eventhough the policy says you can. I don’t do too much drug store couponing because it is always a big hassle.

          • Jamesbntn

walgreens is the pits, i quit using them altogether

          • 1couponbug

My Walgreens in Tupelo, MS allows 2 coupons on B1G1…so does Kroger!

      • 1couponbug

Talk to the manager. The cashiers don’t know what they’re doing. Take a copy of their policy on future Walgreens shopping trips. They need to understand that THEY must follow the rules, ALSO!!!

    • LeoMom3

BE SURE to get the right toothpaste.  My WAGS had a deal for the Pro Optic.  It said you would get a $3 RR.  The problem is that you had to buy 2 of them to get one.  That is NOT the deal. I must admit I ended up buying two because I was a little embarrassed and the line was getting really long,  No worries,  I still have like 5 coupons for this deal and will go back tomorrow for this deal.

Also, The only thing I found for AJAX was dish liquid and AJax cleaner…I was able to use my coupon for the dish liquid that was already on sale for 1.29

    • 302799

The number of manufacturer coupons, including RR manufacturer coupons, must not exceed the number of items in the transaction.

      I see where I goofed.  * sigh *

    • Amberlynne1130

      Hi,
I was just wondering can I use my RR if they equal more than the transactions? And if so do I get those 44 left over back?
      Thanks

      • Amberlynne1130

        RR not 44 sorry

      •  Hello, your RR can only be used in one transaction so you’ll want to make sure your total after other coupons is at least that of the RR you want to use. Hope that helps!

    • Waxxyy1

My wlagreens in Boyton beach,Fl would only give me a raincheck for the sale price.manager would not subtract the RR.It was a pointless raincheck. • Rocknroll0711

Walgreens won’t take an expired coupon and the raincheck has to be written for the sale price they are not allowed to subtract the RR. My suggestion to you would be to try another store next time you have this problem.

      • Fans

Walgreens doesn’t issue the register rewards it through a company called Catalina.

    • Waxxyy1

My wlagreens in Boynton Beach,Fl would only give me a raincheck for the sale price .manager (was not so nice)would not subtract the RR.It was a pointless raincheck. • rebecca

they won’t give you a rain check for the RR because the RR is a manufacturers coupon so walgreens get reimbursed for it but if they give you a rain check then they don’t get reimbursed.  Walgreens will not take expired coupons in any circumstance.

    • Waxxyy1

also I tried to buy 4 ajax powder $.99each (limit4) and tried to use 4 of the $.50 off ss coupons which clearly states any one ajax product (same manager)and said she couldn’t use it because it didn’t have a picture of the ajax on the coupon.I had 4 other things in my cart so I had plenty to cover all coupons. This was so frustrating and time consuming.Any suggestions

      • Jme9190

The ajax powder and the coupon arent compatible. Even though it is the same name, the Ajax powder on sale and the coupon for the Ajax are two different manufacturers…. This was an issue some time ago and I believe Jenny even apologized for telling us we could use it last time so I’m surprised she has it up here. Must not have remembered… Oops. :) HTH

        • WAXXYY1

          THANKS FOR CLEARING THAT UP

    • LeoMom3

has anyone see any Huggies Diapers placed on Clearence?  I am buying for a friend and I thought I saw someone post that they were on clearence for $2.

    • Cbentley122

Walgreens is so frustrating. I’m sorry but I need to rant briefly. I had my transactions set up to use my $5 RR on a totally unrelated product and the cashier kept insisting that I wouldn’t get my $3 RR and threw my stuff on the floor. I felt humiliated. I don’t do Walgreens often and I was almost in tears. But the manager made it right and said I would get my RR. And she rang me up instead. It makes me not want to try it again. I was trying to just get a few items not wipe out the shelves. :( being pregnant does not help my emotional state either :-/ ugh. I guess I’ll go back sometime to use my remaining RR but we’ll see..

      • Savanna

HT will take Walgreens RR.  You may not have to go back at all…

      • DBinNC

I have only shopped at Walgreens a few times.  I much prefer CVS!  There are three locations very close to my home, and I have never had a problem with a cashier!

      • Jlaleonard

“cashier kept insisting that I wouldn’t get my $3 RR and threw my stuff on the floor. I felt humiliated.” I would call corporate about this. There is no reason to be treated like this!!!

      • Sdove

        Bi-lo, will take register rewards.

        • Mcleodsc

not the one in Sumter, SC

    • jessiew

I went to walgreens yesterday, and noticed some very interesting things. At each i went to, i went to 4, did mainly 1 transaction each. I went in to use up my rr before they expire. I did not know this before i went in, but they had the packs of pediasure kidekicks on sale, well it had an orange tag. I did ask an employee and they said if it has an orange tag, they likely arent going to continue to carry that item. At each one(all in the same city, all within probably miles of each other, had different prices. They ranged from stating the usual price was 6.99-7.99, and were on sale from 4.97 to 6.49 depending on the store. Why cant they all be the same? I am not complaining. But there is one that is always higher than the others. Also, if you purchase 2 pediasure, any 2, you get a $2 rr back. In total, i got 2-6pks and 7-4pks of pediasure, 21 candybars(huddys getting ready to deploy), 3 big candy bars, 1 large bag od m&ms, and 4 bags of the hersheys drops, a total value at 111.42, and i paid (after rr, coupons, and military discount) a total of…22.15:)

      • jessiew

when i said 5 miles, i mean 5 miles total, not 5 miles from each other, i’m speaking the 2 furthest apart…

      • Reynoldsja

WOW!!  Great job!!  I’m sure your husband will enjoy all that candy while overseas!  Please tell him “Thank you” for his service.  My father was in the Air Force and I grew up proud to be a military brat!

      • WAGemployee

It depends on the overall sales of that item within the store. If an item is selling well, but corporate is discontinuing it, they’ll only take 10 or 15% off, but if it’s being discontinued and it didn’t sell well, they’ll go higher. They do this per item, not per line, which is why the pedisure had different prices, and if you shop any cosmetics clearance– five different shades might have five different prices.

I went to walgreens in Jacksonville and got the two axe buy one get one half off, used one free axe coupon and 2 rr, end up paying $1.02, the lady gave me a dollar extra on my change and gave it back to her, she told me “thank you, you win on your purchase today!” I almost just pay 0.02 if I didnt realized the extra change..

    • Krismjs

The Garnier Herbashine hair color is $5.99 and there is a RP coupon for $3 off.

    • Jlaleonard

Has anyone tried to roll the Softsoap $3 RR with the Colgate? I thought I read it printed ok doing this. Are’nt they the same company?

    • Mansfield Park

When I try to print coupons. it usually will only allow me to print the same coupon twice.  Any ideas on how to print more?

      • rhonda

you can only print two coupons per computer

    • I found a great deal on the bars of soft soap, they are on clearance at my Walgreens for 2.29, i used the 1.50 off coupon and got a 4 Bar Pack for 79 cents! :)

    • jessiew

This happened a couple days ago, but i was at WAGS, and was trying to use my rr as they expired that day. Acouple things i was getting were on sale, which i hadn’t lanned for. I started handing over coupons and rr. I dont recall what the total was before coupons and rr, but i hd 2 $2 coupons, and 3 #4 rr. The total got down to 4.30, before tax, and it would not take the 3rd $4 rr. Even adding i think 2 more canybars. It would not do it. Those rr were from 2 wks before, so they werent from any deals that week. I was extremely annoyed by this. There was also another lady that seemed to be having the same issue, but she was making 3 transactions and had trouble with the 3rd. The lady ringing my stuff up refused to get a manager or anyone over to assist with the issue. It was incredibly maddening.
