      But is Colgate really safe? Seems like that’s why there’s a discount. Also known as the Triclosan discount.

        yes. Colgate is safe. I am a RDH in TN and Colgate Total is what I recommend to my patients. (Except the kids… I prefer the Crest Be Adventurous… I really like the Mint Chocolate flavor they offer!) Triclosan is a mild form of an antibiotic. It kills the bacteria that flourishes in the plaque build up on our teeth causing gingivitis. If gingivitis is not treated properly then it can lead to more devastating oral conditions (periodontal disease, tooth loss, and there are even studies going on right now to link these bacteria to oral cancer as well.)
        Short answer. Yes it is still safe.
