Total Spent (inc. tax): $23.16

I know many folks look at the drugstore and they say, yes but you had to spend money on the Clear and Simple products so they weren’t really free…

In response realize that I was already going to go in and buy the diapers this week, without coupons or Register Rewards the diapers would have cost $23.98 after taxes.  In the end I got the diapers I was already planning on purchasing, but left the store with 2 bottles of shampoo and 4 packages of face cleaners and didn’t pay anymore for them!!

WOW! i dont understand the points with Walgreens. Is this something new?

      • It actually started in early October. They are a lot like rewards at other drugstores except that you save them on your card and can only redeem them when you have certain increments earned:
        5,000 = $5 off
        10,000 = $10 off
        18,000 = $20 off
        30,000 = $35 off

        • Manuela

Can I redeem them instantly? So If I do 2 transaction and I earned 5000 in my first can I than immediately use it in my 2nd?

          • Yes you can, however they have one quirk. If you use Balance rewards, you can’t earn any in that transaction. So my last transaction with the diapers and wipes would have earned 3,000 points for buying $20 in Walgreens products in the same transaction, but I didn’t earn that since I redeemed points.

            • Sarah

I really messed up today! I didn’t know the rule that you can’t earn if you redeem. I bought 4 Simple Cleansing wipes, but used 5000 points on the purchase. I therefore lost 12000 points! The manager was nice though, and gave me a copy of the guidelines, so that will help for next time. Thanks for your site Jenny – it’s been a really big help!

    • Lindsey Boggs

      Hey Jenny,

You can actually use a $2 off coupon for the Simple wipes on walmart.com’s website… :-)

    • Deanna

Yay these are my favorite wipes. They don’t make my face break out :)

    • lovesavingmoney

That is a great deal!! I am so doing this this weekend- I’m just hoping there is some left for me! Jenny- is there any way you can make it so we can print this out?

      • Copy and paste the post to a word doc. and then print is what I do.

        • lovesavingmoney

I decided to do it the old fashion way. Pen and Paper.lol

    • Cathy

I’m in Raleigh and the $2 RR did not print for the Clear Hair shampoo at my Walgreen’s.

    • sissy

this is great, I love when you do pictures with break downs….it is so helpful! I know your hubby doesn’t like it; but it REALLY is super!!

      • I took the pictures in the Walgreens parking lot, so he never had to know.

        • sissy

          LOL! :)

        • Khadija

The pictures are really, really helpful. Thanks so much!

    • Oh sure… post this today! I just bought Walgreens Diapers yesterday and used my last RR on them! :)

    • sissy

Jenny, Do you know if we have 8000 pts, can we choose to only use 5000, and leave the remaining 3000?

      • You can. I had 20,000 points after the second transaction and choose to use 18,000 thousand and leave the remaining points on my card.

        • sissy

Are you sure the 2000 pts are still on your card? I did once, very early on when I had 5000 pts and bought something for $2, used my points thinking it would take off 2000, leaving me 3000, but it took off all 5000.
I wasn’t sure if, however, when we get over 5000; if we can use a portion and still have a balance.

          • I saw this on the WG website, says you can redeem only some. Hope thats true!

Q: What is the process for redeeming my points in store?

A: You can redeem points once you accumulate 5,000 points. To redeem in store, you will be
prompted by the sales associate to choose to either redeem your points or continue earning
points on that purchase. You can elect to redeem or keep saving using the pin pad at checkout
or by telling the sales associate. You can choose to redeem all, some, or none of your
            points.

    • Carrie <3

I found $2 off coupons on walmarts site for the siple product, and they have $3 off coupons for simple eye care products (eye makeup remover!!!???!!!) score!!!!

    • Stephanie

Jenny, I just tried to do this at the Walgreens in Norhport, AL. After the transaction was completed. I saw where I didnt get the 6,000 reward points I should have earned. The manager told me that if I used rewards points to pay for a transaction then I would not earn any of the points on the face wipes. This makes no sense. I earned the $5 in rewards point off of previous purchases. I ended up returning the wipes and leaving the store. Has anyone else had this issue?

      • Saw this on the walgreens website:

Q: Can I earn and redeem points on the same purchase?

A: No, you cannot earn points on a purchase in which you are redeeming points.

        • Stephanie

          Thanks Chris! Note to self!

    • Great deals Jenny. I wish my daughter could use those diapers. I think I may do this deal any way though because the diapers are in great need at most shelters and food pantries.

      • Couponeagle

I have always been a huggies girl with my youngest and one day we ran out and was scared I tried cvs before and hated them Wags diapers are awesome in all honesty I hate you cant use them.

        • Kari

You know I was just thinking about shelters. I have coupons for diapers, toiletries, ext that I never use on those big deals. Why not use those coupons and buy the items and give to someone in need?

    • me

WHERE IS THE FILLER IN TRANSACTION 2 ” that you always told us about? you could use 4- 1.50 since you are buy 4 wipes!! right? i was surprise when i read it and see no 10c filler!! is people still buying at walgreens?? i have months without that headache!! if i have cvs why do i need walgreens….

      • I actually only had 3 simple coupons so I didn’t need a filler to use the RR as the 4th coupon. Had I had another coupon I would have needed a filler item though, my printer just wouldn’t print anymore…

    • mbschwartz

also watch for some of the Clear shampoo on clearance… found some on clearance for 3.69/ bottle, bought 2, used (2) $2.00 MFC and still got 4,000 BR… moneymaker!

      • mbschwartz

AND a $2 RR printed from Unilever, which had to be from the shampoo because the only other thing i bought was the goody hair clips. Did anyone else have this happen???

        • drseus

Yes! Went today and got two shampoos for $3.29 each, used two $2 coupons, and got back $2 RR AND 4,000 POINTS! Major money maker!

    • Laura

I have a great Walgreens that has a cashier who is a coupon guru as well and she let me know that thru 12/15 you earn 1000pts on $25 purchase, 5000 on $50 purchase and 10000 on $75 purchase but like you said Jenny you cant earn and redeem on same transaction. So she said to wait until 12/16 to redeem to max that benefit. Also right now on the last 3 purchases I got a $10 off a $50 purchase coupon to use between 12/16-12/19.

    • jac

How did you get 12,000 BR on the Simple Wipes transaction?

      • Joanna

I was wondering the same thing. I looked in the ad and all I see is the sale. Hopefully someone can help us with this!!

        • Sarah

It looks like it’s a month long promotion. The tag at my Walgreens says the 3,000 points when you buy one expires 12/29.

      • Joanna

I see the picture on the top now and that explains it; looks like there is an unadvertised promo for 3000 points when you buy one; hence, buying 4 gave her 12,000 points. I hope this helps you!

        • jac

I think you’re right! Thanks for the help. With Walgreen’s weekly ads, monthly Q booklets, points, BR’s, RR’s, mfg. Q’s, occasional senior discounts and unadvertised promos, planning a shopping trip there can be a nightmare. I plan my purchases, organize my coupons, confirm that I have covered all my bases re: minimums to meet rewards or coupon eligibility … inevitably, they are out of something that throws off my entire game plan. SO frustrating!
