Any other ideas you have for this deal?

    • I’m not sure about this week, but in past weeks, there were 2 separate glucometers that you could purchase with the same coupon. You could actually have them both ring up together, use 2 coupons, and get 2 separate rr’s because they were two different kinds. If that is still working, you could buy both of those and add in a small filler item from a participating brand (like Hunts). Use 2 coupons, spend only $1-$2, and get back $30 in RRs.

      • Virginia

You’re speaking of deals that ended on 1/30.

    • I can’t believe that I must have already used my coupons! Can’t find them anywhere. I guess you need to buy LOTS of papers when this coupon is in there.

      • Lynne

Don’t worry if you have already used your coupon. Most of the boxes have a rebate coupon on or in them, to rebate the full puchase price up to $55.00 so you can still get the deal!

        • valerie

check on the $55 rebates…mine expired in 2009….

    • I bought 40 papers that week and have used them all already. :( Even though I KNEW better!!

      • Amy B.

        Wow

      • ShannonS.

40 papers. Wow. Maybe I am just out of the loop, but what do you do with all of the glucometers?

        • Seriously????

I am guessing she hogs the all so that people who need them (and are without health insurance, etc.) can’t get their hands on them. Also sadly, many people turn around and sell them on Ebay. It is a total scam. Ridiculous to those of us who need the meters, yet the shelves are wiped clean b/c of hoarders. Unfair. And anyone who NEEDS these meters, does not NEED 40!

          • Ginger

Since you don’t know her, you have no idea what she does with them, and no business judging her, IMO. Most of the people I know who buy them, GIVE them away to people who need them. I keep one for myself to use occasionally, because I had gestational diabetes and am at higher risk for getting Type 2 now, but I’ve given a lot of them away. GIVEN. I understand being frustrated with not being able to buy them- we have the same issue here. Especially when you need them. But “seriously”, you don’t know her.

      • Debbie

seriously 40 papers?!? What would you do with all those glucometer?

        • Michelle

I donate mine to shelters, thrift stores, etc., and I give them to people I know who have diabetes.

If you don’t want to buy a lot of papers just for that coupon, you can buy the coupons on ebay. They can get pretty expensive, but they’re probably cheaper than buying that many newspapers.

          • Ginger

They’re not, especially when they’ve been out awhile and they’re getting scarce. Right now, they’re selling for about 3 bucks a pop, AND MORE! My whole Sunday paper is $1.50, and we get awesome coupons. I’m like the original poster, I’ve bought 40 papers before.
Here are two more tipes for where to find the coupons–
            1. Where I live, they often pay people to deliver a free ad in neighborhoods– they just walk around and pitch them in people’s driveways. I will go around when I’m walking my dogs on Sundays and Mondays and ask my neighbors and other people if they want theirs that are still laying out– they never do, and they usually contain the Wags ad and an abbreviated Smart Source section, at least.
            2. Someone told me this, though I’ve never tried it. She said if you pick up your mail at a post office box, you can pick them out of the trash cans, because people get the inserts with their mail, and just toss them. And there’s usually nothing in the trash cans but paper. I’ve never tried that one, but I might. :)

        • Jessica

I give mine to my midwifes. They use them to test for gestational diabetes. If anyone in the Greenville/ Greer area would like to contribute their meters, please let me know. My email is del0515@bellsouth.net. :)

      • Courtney

ha! i’ve never purchased 40 of one newspaper issue yet, but i wouldn’t rule it out! :)

i purchased my meter q’s from ebay before they got really expensive. it was around $10 for 10 of them several weeks/months ago. now they are more like 10 for $30! also got a couple from coupondede website, they were $.80 each i believe. i have made at least $5 using each coupon, so i’m happy with that.

it is very easy to find a place to donate these meters! look for free clinics, family members with diabetes, the salvation army, etc. i haven’t had a problem getting rid of them at all.

    • Michelle

It would be nice if Walgreens would stock more of these meters. They are very hard to find!

    • Sue

Does this mean if I buy this meter (and another participating product) this week I will get 2 separate RR’s?

    • valerie

Are there any Cheerios coupons because that would be a deal?

      • Michelle

I think there was a Cheerios coupon in the pack of Pampers that I bought yesterday. I haven’t opened the package yet, but it said something about it on the front, and I could see a coupon through the plastic.

      • Sue
      • Tina

What would the deal be? I have a Cheerios q?

        • Jessica

The deal would be, buy a bayer contour meter for $14.99 + more than $5.01 worth of Cheerios or other products Jenny has listed above. Get back $10 RR for meter and $5 RR for Bayer deal.

Anyone know how much a box of Cheerios goes for at Wags? I’m guessing around $3?

          • valerie

my sales paper said they were $1

          • Jessica

Just looked at the ad … the Cheerios are $5/2 this week, which means you would need two boxes plus one more item to get to $20.

    • belle

can you get either of the glucose meters or does it have to be only the bayer contour

      • Michelle

I tried to get a Bayer Breeze 2 yesterday and the RR didn’t print.

        • Robby

Yep, I tried it to day in Marietta and it did not work with the Contour2.

      • Mike

        It is the Bayer Contour.

    • Bobbie

I don’t see an in ad coupon for the Tylenol this week. Do any of you see one in your weekly ad?
      Thanks

    • Tina

I bought the contour today for $14.99 used the $30 Q and my 10 RR’s did not print out. Mgr. said that it won’t because the item was free after Q. I’m so bummed. I’m a newbie and was wanting to roll the RR’s this week to try and accumulate some. Did I make a mistake?
      Thanks

      • MelRae

Tina, you did nothing wrong. The manager is wrong. Please understand that purchasing the item triggers the RR, not how much you pay for it or if you use coupons. Maybe the catalina machine was not working?

Go to the top of the page and look under “getting started guides”, and then “guide to walgreens” and you should be able to find info on contacting the catalina company and they will mail to you your RR (if you have the receipt, there should be a transaction # on there that you can give them and they can verify your purchase). It may take a while to get it, but it’s better than nothing. HTH.

      • Ginger

Someone else has said this happened, but it shouldn’t be the case. You should show the manager the sale ad, where it says 10$ RR, and then ask them to show you where it says no RRs will be given if the customer uses a coupon. If the ad says you’ll get RRs and you don’t, that is false advertising. Walgreens is still getting paid even if you use a coupon. If they still won’t give you your RR, I would have them refund the purchase, and return your coupon to you. (They have to return the coupon, because they can’t legally send it in and get reimbursed now.) Then you should email corporate and complain, and maybe try a different Walgreens and see what happens there. If your RR doesn’t print out there, be prepared to ask them to void the sale on the spot. And, of course, do all this politely– more flies with honey and all. :)

      • MelRae
        • Tina

Thanks ladies!! I called the catalina company and they said they would investigate the transaction to make sure I qualify and put the rewards in the mail. I probably shouldn’t have let it bother me as much as it did. It came down to a matter of principles not the $. Thanks again for all your help.
          Tina

    • denielle

where do you see the monthly deals? its not in the ad?
      -thanks

    • Chi

I have around 10 of these coupons (got whole inserts from the internet). I do not have diabetes or know anyone with the disease so I’ve decided not to use them. I remember comtemplating the idea of buying these just for the RR, but it just doesn’t feel right to me. I do understand when you know someone that actually needs them, for example I got my grandma 4 boxes of the joint juice. She was really happy.

      • Bridget

You can always donate them. That way you earn money and give to charity at the same time.

        • SM

I agree donate the meters. I personally know many people who have diabetes, my husband included, and the supplies can be costly. I’m sure any organization would appreciate the donations.

      • Nickie

Hi! I noticed your comment about choosing to not use your coupons. I am a BSN nursing student getting ready to graduate in May. My group is doing a change project for a local low-income housing complex that houses 150 occupants. After our survey, we realized that over 75% of these individuals have diabetes or at high risk for having it. Our focus is to educate them, refer them and offer them products to help them better take care of themselves. One of things we are trying to do is come up with as many glucose monitors as we can to donate. This would be a perfect opportunity to acquire some meters as well as use the RR to purchase other items we can donate. I am telling you this because I am wondering if you would be willing to donate your coupons to this cause? If anyone else reads this and has coupons they would be willing to donate…it would be such a blessing! My email is walters140@gmail.com. Thank you!

    • GaMom1983

I just did this deal at Walgreens twice. The first time with the Bayer Contour meter and Hunts tomatoes…worked fine. The 2nd time, they didn’t have enough tomatoes, so I did the Bayer Contour, 1 can of Hunt’s tomatoes and 2 Quaker granola bars. It didn’t work the second time. I did get the $10 RR for the Bayer Contour, but not the additional $5 for adding the Hunt’s and Quaker items. Any idea why? The meter was $14.99, Hunts’ 1.69, and Quaker 2/$4…total $20.68. Shouldn’t it have worked?

      • Jessica

I saw somewhere that the Quaker for the deal was only the oatmeal (I think the 18 oz package?).

        • GaMom1983

Thanks Jessica. Wish I had known that earlier today, but oh well, LoL. My son’s happy he got granola bars, LoL.

      • Kim

So with your first transaction (meter and tomatoes) you got a $10 and a $5 RR? Just wondering because I do not see the meter listed as a participating product for the $5 RR when you spend $20. I just hate it when I go in with a plan and then have it blow up in my face when I go to check out. Thanks

        • GaMom1983

Yes, I got a $10 and a $5 when I bought the Bayer Contour meter and the Hunt’s tomatoes. It is a Bayer product which is why it worked. I haven’t seen an actual advertisement for it, I just read it here, but it did work. I know what you mean though, becaue I am still sooo disapointed that the second transaction didn’t give me the other $5, LoL.

    • Steve

Where do you find the official list of the monthly deals. I’ve checked on several sites that list the items (none tell wehre the list came from) and on those sites, none list the Bayer contour as a participating item.

    • Kim

Where can we get a list of the participating items? I know I saw a list somewhere that told exactly what was included (sizes and all) but now I can’t find it. Is there a list in store?

    • Bridget

I cannot remember what insert but I have a coupon off three hunts tomatoes. I can’t remember the amount but I know there is one.

      • GaMom1983

There is also a $1/4 Hunts Tomatoes blinkie. I have a couple of those but didn’t have them with me today…

    • Jenna

ok i have the bayer meter coupon from this weekend save 20.00. can i use that for the rebate? it is 14.99 and save 20.00. get 10 rr back?

      • Ginger

I could be wrong, but I think that coupon is for the test strips. Isn’t it? You need the one for the meter, which is 30$ off.

    • Rob

Bought Contour, Breeze2, 1 can Hunts. Total OOP $1.02 Received $20 RR.
      Thanks Jenny!

      • Laura

Did you buy them today? Just wondering b/c I can not find any… I have been searching since Sunday afternoon. Where do you live?

    • SouthernSavers

We are implementing a new comment system and will have the old comments from before Wednesday night loaded soon… thanks for understanding.

    • Donna Andress

I just had a disheartening trip to Walgreens. The manager said they are no longer giving out RR's for items purchased with RR's. The cashier explained that there has been a glitch in the system for the last few months and that it is being corrected and will (soon) no longer give out RR's for items if purchased with RR's. Have you heard of this?

      • lynne

I have not heard this, but I hope not all of the Wags jump on that bandwagon!!

      • kelvin

No, haven't heard of this and I have been using RR and getting RR (different products though). From time to time it doesn't print but I show them the ads then they correct it. Most of the time when it doesn't print it's because of the RR printers have some problem.

      • Donna

I work at Walgreens and this is new CRAZY news to me. I know you can't use RR that are from the same company to buy a item that you would receive RR back on HOWEVER you can use RR from another company to buy a item and you still get RR back.
Example: If you buy something Johnson & Johnson product and you're suppose to get RR back on that item, you cannot use a previous Johnson & Johnson RR on that item and expect to get RR back

If you don't care to get the RR back then you can still use the previous RR to pay for that item but you would get no RR back

Example 2: if you are buying something that is Johnson & Johnson and you use a previous Proctor & Gamble RR toward that item, you still get the Johnson & Johnson RR that is advertised on that item.

I hope this helps and doesn't sound too confusing:)

      • shanna

Something similar happened to me. First, I purchased the Blink Tears and Vitamin Schtick Lipcare with a -1.50 Q for the Tears and a $5RR. I got back $8RR and $2RR, which I then used to purchase two boxes of Joint Juice with a B1G1 Q, received $10RR, which I took to a second Walgreens and used to purchase seven cases of Pepsi and got back $10RR. For my next transaction, I bought two more boxes of Joint Juice with a B1G1 and the $10RR – the manager warned me that the RR wouldn't print out (he didn't specifically say that it wouldn't print out because I was paying with the Pepsi RR, but that was the implication), but the $10RR printed out just fine. The cashier questioned whether she should give it to me after it printed out, and the manager said fine. It was only on my final transaction, when I attempted to buy Blink Tears (with -1.50Q) and Vitamin Schtick with three filler items, that I ran into unexpected problems. The $2RR printed for the Vitamin Schtick, but the $8RR for the Blink Tears DID NOT. Does anyone know if the system is able to “track back” the purchase history with the Register Rewards and determine that I'd already had the RR for Blink Tears print once? Even so, I did not see anywhere in the ad that indicated “limit one” on that particular item.

        • terrianne421

I went to one Walgreens and purchased the blink and lip care, used a $2 coupon on the blink, went to a 2nd Walgreen made the same purchases and got the RR there, I didn't use these RR as I plan on using them Next week when I don't have as much “extra money” but so far haven't had any other issues.

        • Jay

Technically speaking, Companies won't give out a RR (which is technically considered a manufacturer's coupone) when you use a manufacturer's coupon from the same company to buy it. Same as how you can't use the RR for an item on the same item later.

    • dawnj123

I am new to Walgreens and Register Rewards. I find them very confusing!! Can you use them on an item even if the RR is a higher amount than the item you are purchasing? For example, I want to get an Olay cleanser for $7, I have a $3 coupon. Can I get another small item for $1 or so and use the $3 coupon and a $5 RR? I learned the hard way that I could not use a coupon and a RR on one item! I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks.

      • Lynne

Things to keep in mind at walgreens is you cannot have more Q's than items and they count the RR's as Q's. Also you cannot use an RR on the same item that you got it from.

      • Anne

Yeah you would need one more item, so that the number of items and manufactor coupons (which rewards count as). That's why Jenny always lists the filler items. I usually throw in milk or some other non coupon item that I need.

        • dawnj123

Ok, so it is just the number of Q's and not the dollar amount of the q's – I have 1 RR that is $5. I will give it a try! Thanks

    • Ginger

I know someone asked this on the old thread, so it may have been answered already. If so, sorry. Does anyone have a listing of the specific items in the deal? For example, is it any Colgate item, or only certain ones? It's driving me crazy because I remember seeing the ad, and I can't find it anywhere. Thanks! Or maybe someone knows where there is a scan of the actualy ad?

    • comptond3439

I went to Wags yday. I got the bayer glucose meter, 2 hunts jello packs (on sale for $1 each), plus two boxes of Quaker chewy granola parts 2/$4, The total before the coupon was $20.99. After q was $7.28. I got the $10 RR but I did not get the $5 RR. I only got a $5 Q off bayer lancets. That is why I hate Walgreens. My deals never work out.

      • sricard

Mine was the same and I did it Monday in Lexington. No extra 5.00 just 5 off the lancets. You were not alone on this one.

        • Shon

The Jello packs are not included in the deal, it the Hunt's tomato paste & Diced tomatoes. Also the granola bars are not included, its only the Quaker oatmeal. Hope this helps.

          • avenlee

Tonight I got the Contour meter and 7 hunts tomato sauce (they were 4/5.00 and I had a 1.00 Q) and I received 15.00 in RR's! I was a bit hesitant because the sign under them didn't list Bayer at all as part of the deal. It did list Tylenol however.

    • comptond3439

Has anyone ever used an RR from Walgreens at Walmart? I know they are a manufacturer coupon and I know I have used it at either Harris Teeter or Walmart but I cannot remember which one.

    • Deb

Hi Donna-when I hear this kind of tom-foolery, I RUN to the next WGS in our neighborhood. You've got yourself a mgr. that likes to make it up as he goes along! There has never been a WGS policy of this nature-no glitch, just baloney, and lots of it. What a laugh…

    • DG

I received a letter today in the mail from Bayer Co. stating that they could not issue me a rebate since I had used a coupon. So there is no profit on buying these.
      I am very dissappointed.

      • Ginger

The profit is in the Register Rewards. This week, there has been a $10.00 RR. I paid $1.46 tax for my monitor, and got back $10.00.
