Heads up to Walgreens shoppers, they have updated their Balance Rewards Program. You can now redeem Balance Rewards Points at 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 point levels.

The Point System:

You used to not be able to redeem points until you reached 5,000 points. The important thing to remember is that you cannot earn Balance Rewards Points on transactions where you redeem Points.

I will still do transactions the same way with Register Rewards first, Balance Rewards second, and regular sale items last. The additional point levels just gives you more flexibility in redeeming rewards.

If this is all new to you, you can read more about how to shop at Walgreens here.

      Walgreen’s is so confusing. This is why I shop at CVS only these days. Last time I shopped at Walgreen’s they didn’t even give me my reward points for items that were clearly marked in the ad.

        Ditto! No more WG for me, except for simple sale items.

        Me too! I haven’t been to Walgreen’s since they started all this balance rewards stuff. Too nerve wracking for me!

      This is GREAT! Thanks for sharing!

      If points were not added on to your card at the store, you can call the phone number on your rewards card, give them your receipt number, and they will add your points. I did thus for my proscription.

      It only gave me the option of redeeming in $5 increments today when I checked out.

      I was not a fan of the points rewards when they came out but let me tell you, I am now a huge fan. Its all about how you coupon and build them up. Wags is my fav store and my points balance just hit 340,000 points!

        Don’t give up you guys, just learn how it works and it becomes very rewarding! If there is a problem the store will fix it. My local stores are great and know me by name and fix every issue I have. Just ask them.

        340,000 Wooooooooooooooow!!!!!!!!! ;-}

      I find CVS hard to understand but have no issues with Walgreens. I am glad to see the change though I rack up a lot of points each month with prescriptions.

      I tried to redeem 1,000 points and the cashier said the computer wasn’t prompting it and she couldn’t do it manually. I called the number on my card and asked (their website still lists 5,000 points as the minimum), was told that it’s not “encouraged” but it is allowed. I guess I’ll have to ask for the manager next time.
