Scenario Idea

This week is tricky. Since so many RR deals are Procter & Gamble products it will make it tricky to “roll” deals doing them one after the other. Many times if you pay with a RR from another P&G product it will not print another reward. If there are other things that you need I would recommend putting all P&G products together into one transaction and then doing a second transaction of everything not P&G. Things should go smoothly for you that way.

Have any other Scenario Ideas? Leave your scenario in the comments to help others plan.

    • Jeri

some pretty good deals here Jenny. I did have a question about the Post cereal one. If the cereal is 2.50 and the RR is 1.00, the final cost should be .75 not 1.25 if you use a .75/1 q right?

      • sorry that should be wyb (2) post cereals

    • jjscu

I thought only one RR would print per transaction, even if you did different deals. So you are saying if I do the
      1. 4 RR Gillette
      2. and the 2 RR Pantene
I will actually get both RR's even though they are both P&G?

      • Sean

Yes. You just can't do 2 gillette and expect 2 $4 RR to print.

    • Alztimers

Our Walgreens won't let us use 2 mfg coupons for one item. They say that the Walgreens coupon states that it's a mfg Q, which it does. :(

      • couponmama

The RRs are considered mfg Qs, however the coupons in the ad or in the monthly booklet are store Qs, meaning you can use them along w/your mfg Qs. Just so your total number of mfg Qs is not more than your number of items!

        • june

I've read that the coupons in the monthly books are mfg Q. They beeped at the register when I bought the welches juice a few weeks ago and that's what the manager told m, too..

          • Kelleyzoo

in the book, some are manufacturer, and some are store. They are marked differently.

    • Angela

Some of the haircare deals, you are saying to buy 2, use a b1g1, AND a $1 off. You can use a B1G1 and a $1 off of two bottles? Or would you have to buy 3?

      • Most stores will let you as long as there's one mfg coupon per item, so the B1G1 would go towards one of them and the $1 off would go towards the other. It's basically saying you buy one with $1.00 off and then use the B1G1 for the second item.

      • Mcleodsc

It depends on how your particular WAGS has its registers programmed. If the 2 products ring up full price for one and zero for the second then you can only use one coupon. If the first rings up for example 1.00 and the second 2.00 then it will take 2 coupons as long as the coupons are for one dollar or less. I have seen numerous variations of how the registers are programmed. If the deal does not work at one store -return everything and try another store.

    • Rachel

I am going to try and do the aussie and pantene deal monday. Let u know if it will work. I know a bogo counts as two coupons in your coupon count so will see if it is jsut a coupon count for filler or not. Need it to help get me to 50 for the olay rebate.

    • Jnn_horan

Technically, you're using the 1.00 on the one that you are buying. HTH

    • If you do the Vicks deal, shouldn't you be able to score free Puff's tissue with the (-Free Puffs product WYB (2) Vick’s products, PG 11/28 (EXP 12/31)?

      • Nurzingismylife

I bought the sinex for $5 and used the $4 coupon from 12/26 P&G and got the puffs for free with the coupons.. so i bought four boxes of sinex used four $4 off and got two boxes of puffs using two free puffs WYB (2) vick's products paid $4 plus tax and got back $10 ECB wonderful trip to WAGS today!!!!

        • Mamaberry

ur store had the sinex for $5?? AWESOME! great for you!!! even at $6 it will still be a good deal for me! txs… :)

          • Nurzingismylife

It was the box of sinex it's just like the box of dayquil and nyquil they are also $5

    • Whataboutit

A free Afrin coupon up to seven dollars printed when I did the Vicks deal! Thank you Walgreens!!!

      • SavingBig

If you have not used the Afrin coupon there is a $3 off on Coupons.com. This could be a $3 MM.

    • Triplettk

I tried to do the Pantene deal tonight in Durham, NC and it took the B1G1, but beeped at the $1 off. When cashier was trying to figure out why, she said it was because I was getting the shampoo for free and the $1 coupon is off conditioner WYB shampoo (which technically I got for free). Don't know if it would have worked if she scanned the $1 off first?

      • Tcredbird33

        yes

    • CoupNewb

Newbie Question: Are the online coupons from Smart Source the same each week as are in the insert or are they different?

      • firstbrownie

The coupons online through Smart Source are often different than the ones that come in the newspaper. Also, the coupons that come each week in the paper are different regionally. I live in central Illinois, and I don't get very many good coupons in the paper…I'm lucky to get 5 coupons in my Red Plum when there were supposed to be 25! However, I do come away with good deals, still!

      • Sometimes they are the same and sometimes they are different.

    • Daune

Can you use the Dove dedorant coupon to buy the Degree dedorant deal. Thanks,

    • Cathy

Great trip to Walgreen's. Both the Herbal Essence and Pantene deals worked for me. Also, there were a lot of clearance items in the cosmetic section. I bought L'Oreal face powder for $1.99 (regularly $12.99) then used a $1.00 coupon and I bought Cover Girl eyeliner for $3.19 (regularly $8.40) and used a $2.00 coupon.

    • robr

I did the nyquil deal with the puffs paid 8.88oop got 10rr. then bought the swiffer wet jet and refill. (used the 5 off from p&g, get free refill when by swiffer wet jet) also bought 2 herbal essence products (used bogo free and .50 coupon) bought 4 small christmas bags @12 cent each as filler. total 14.76 w/tax used the 10rr. paid 4.76oop got back 2rr for swiffer, 1rr herbal essence. total out of pocket 1.76

    • Queuepawn

I bought 5 chex mix–had 2 MQ .50c/2 and 2 RR ($1 each). I was told the 50c/2 counted as 2 coupons each since I had to buy 2 items to get the coupon. Therefore I could only use 1 RR. Anyone else encountered this? If so, then I can only use RR on items I don't have coupons for. I've been couponing for over a year and never before had a clerk tell me this. I just saved one of the RR for later. I can use them at Publix or another trip to Walgreens–so I'll just have to wait to save the extra dollar. Just wondering for future visits.

      • june

Yes, I ran into this the other week. It was new to me too. I ended up paying a couple of dollars more because I was out of time. If my brain would have been working better I would have grabbed a filler item and been alright AND only payed a dollar for my purchase. Live and learn.

On another note: I used the B1G1 herbal ess. coupon and it did not come off. I don't know if it was just the cashier or if it was the computer. My total was about $3 more than I was expecting. When I looked over my receipt as I put my cart back I did not see where $2.99 had come off. I went back and the cashier called the manager over. (really nice guy, but not corp. material luckily for me) He looked at the receipt and promtly refunded the difference.

      • Amanda A Abell

Did you say you could use the RR at Publix???? Do they honor RR's as a competitor coupon?

    • I saw that the Bayer Contour USB Meter is on sale for $9.99 (down from $75.00). There is a $20 coupon on the manufacturer's website. I called ahead of time to see if they would adjust the coupon down. The person who answered the phone said “no” in sort of a condescending tone. Since this is a gift, I went and got it anyway. However, I looked up the issue online, and read that it is best to ask Walgreens to adjust the price of the ITEM up to match the coupon instead of asking them to adjust the coupon down. Has anyone had luck with this?

      • Cyforbes42

ive seen that coupon and when the cashier scans the coupon it will ask them for coupon value they just key in 9.99 and write that amount on the coupon. i know this for a fact

    • Cindy

I just had a horrible experience at our local Walgreens. I went to purchase the Gillette Fusion razors. I bought one using the $4.00 coupon and received 4.00 in RR. Making a second purchase I tried to buy another razor, using my 4.00 RR and 4.00 coupon and was told I could not do this. When I asked why not the clerk immediately sent for the manager who said I could not do this. I was just trying to understand the store policy and was told I would have to purchase another item, it didn't matter what it was or how much it was as long as it was at least a dollar. I did this and they allowed me to use the RR and my coupon. No one ever explained to me the stores policy on coupons.

      • Loyal2disney

They are right in their policy. I was quite confused about it for awhile too. The way Walgreens works is that the RR actually counts like a manufacturer's q. So, you can't combine RR with a manufacturer q on just one item. You need a “filler item” as Jenny puts it when you have a man. q and RR. I don't think the filler item has to be at least $1 though. Just try to get the filler item to be as inexpensive as possible. HTH!

      • Sheri

Sorry you had a bad experience. At Walgreens, the number of coupons you use in a transaction cannot excede the number of items you purchase. That is why Jenny posts “filler items.” At my Walgreens, the filler item doesn't have to be a dollar, it can be less. Hope this helps.

      • Cyforbes42

i can explain it to you.. u cant use the same reward to buy the same item.. for example if u buy a fusion razor and you use a 4.00 mfg coupon and u get a 4.00 reward back.. if you do the same thing again and use that 4.00 reward it wont print a new reward.. its just how it works hope that helps you

      • Tguyette5

I was told the same thing at my local Walgreens today. How I would have to buy something to use my RR if the total ended up being 0, i could not just pay the tax. So I printed up the “rules” on walgreens coupons on their website and carry it in my purse to make sure this is right. Good luck next time you go.

    • Ginger

I am new to couponing. I visited my local Walgreens this evening. I purchased 2 each of 2 different items each had a RR for them in addition to Manuf. coupon. Total RR should have been $10, but I only receive $5. The manager told me it was because the manufacture will not allow us to use a coupon if receiving a RR. Has anyone experienced this? Thank you.

Make sure you did it in two transactions. If you buy two shampoos (for example) together you will only get a RR for one. Now, if you buy one shampoo pay for it, and then buy the next separately, then you will get both. Manufacturer coupons had nothing to do with it. You also can't pay for the second shampoo with a RR for the first shampoo either. The RR's must be from a different brand name. If this is confusing, look at her getting started guide. If you bought it in two transactions, then I don't know what happened. I would return whatever you didn't get a RR for and then buy them again to get them. Hope that helps!

that is not true ginger .. i do this coupon stuff everyday at walgreens the coupons dont matter at all…. example 4/20.00 and you use 4.00 off on each item it should still print the 10.00 reward.. if it doesnt u can get the mgn to take the items to another register and he can ring them up all over again without the coupons just to print your reward and he can do a total void on that transaction so u can be on your way

I visited my local Walgreens this evening. I purchased the Willy Wonka chocolate. I used the $3/2 coupon. I also used the $1.00 off Walgreens store coupon in the booklet. The candy is on sale for $3.00 per bag. So i paid $2.10 for 2 bags of candy.

Check your store(s) for clearance prices on cosmetics…mine had quite a few really good deals (Neutrogena, CoverGirl, Revlon, Maybelline). I got Neut. concealer marked $3.59 & eyeshadow duo marked $2.29. I used the $3 MQ from AllYou & the $2 WagsQ from the Bright & Beautiful book. The WagsQ scanned as $4 (not $2), so it was a money maker.

I'm fairly new at this, but when clipping my coupons for this week I notice at $3/2 Pantene products in the 12/26 PG. Can I use that instead of the $1/2 from PG 11/28 for the deal scenario listed above? ($2 RR WYB 2 Pantene at $3.50, use B1G1 and $3 off…) am I missing something, sounds almost too good to be true…

      • Misty

You can't use the B1G1 and the $3 off 2 coupon, because the B1G1, means you're only paying for 1 and not 2. HTH

Fantastic Wags trip this evening! I got over $105 in stuff with a total oop of $5.68 & got $4 in RR back so total cost was $1.68, which was tax as my subtotals were .23 & .06 (did 2 transactions). I did Pantene shampoo & conditioner deal x 4, Olay body wash & Olay lotion deal x 4, & Olay bar soap deal x 2 plus got several packs clearance Christmas candy & 16 Christmas pencils (.12 fillers!). I used multiples of the following P&G coupons: $2/1 Olay. $3/2 Pantene, B1G1 Olay body wash/Olay lotion, & B1G1 Pantene product/shampoo. I bought 4 Pantenes per deal so only rec'd $2 RR but I knew this going in & didn't want to fool with 4 seperate transactions. I used RR from my Wags trip yesterday from the Herbal Essence, Sinex, & Chex Mix deals. And to make it all sweeter, I'm submitting today's receipts for another P&G Olay $20 rebate! I had a wonderful, relaxed checkout experience with one of my store's asst managers & a couple cashiers as they were not busy at all & wanted to talk couponing. It was pure FUN, which is how it should be!

        Awesome!!!!!!!!

Just got back from WAGS. I bought the two Pantenes and tried to use the B1G1 and the $1.00 off. The cashier tried everything but the B1G1 wouldn't let her take the $3.50 off. The manager even tried…so we had to take the 1.00 off and it would finally let her take the 3.50 off. Anybody having this problem?

      • Nonamckenzie

I just did this tonight. I gave her the b1g1 first, then i gave her the $1 off q and it worked fine.

My Walgreens in Athens, Alabama would not allow me to use the coupons to make my Folgers $2 each> Plus, they treat me like I've got a gun in my hand at the register when I break out coupons. It's not the first time they have acted like that either. One cashier sighs deeply when I hand my coupons to her. Last time, I finally asked her in my sweetest tone if there was a problem. She wouldn't look at me or respond, so I told her i would need to speak to the manager.
The manager was very nice and apologetic. But, I continue to get the same 'ol routine when I go in there.
My next Walgreens trip will be tomorrow. When it's time for me to ring up my items, I'm going to request the manager, let him ring my items, and see how that goes.
I might just blow my top if I deal with one more huffy teenager ringing me up.

Hi Mollieirene….I am in Athens, AL….but I haven't encountered those problems. However, I quite shopping there for many many months. I needed to just concentrate on one drug store and one grocery store. I have recently gone back because I get the AARP discount. I shop in very small quantities so maybe that is why i haven't encountered the same problems. I like the older lady (can't remember her name) that is there during the week. she comes off a little gruff but a little conversation seems to go a long way with her.

I hope your experience gets better there! My biggest thing is having to use the RR within the next two weeks….mine always seem to expire before I get back there!

I am new to using coupons, today was my first day going to Walgreen's with many coupons. I clicked on the items i wanted above printed my list and I had ever single coupon for what I wanted. After 2 hrs of getting all that I wanted taking my time getting the right items to match the coupons, I was talking to a store clerk that was extremely helpful but put me with another clerk that knew more about the coupons. I had to end up putting most of my stuff back bc I couldnt use ALL the coupons listed above on here. I could only use ONE walgreens coupon and ONE manufactor coupon, not 2, 3 or 4 as some items listed above. Im thinking maybe I am confused about the list from here that you can print out with the items you want from each store and have the coupons and that is it??? Is this not how it is suppose to work?? The clerk at the store stated as I showed her my list and the coupons that can be used said it was wrong. So she went through each item I had with each coupon I had and like I said I put many items back bc I couldnt use more than one coupon on the item which didnt give me enough savings bc I know the prices at other stores (walmart) and it was still cheaper to shop there for those products. If anyone has any suggestions of maybe what I may be doing wrong or any suggestions on anything regarding the coupons cause now I am really confused.

BTW…i still did very well…total was $142.57 b4 coupons…after coupons $57.63…it was great but not what I thought I was going to be doing….

      Thank you

Check out the “Learn to Coupon” link at the top of the site. You can only use one mfg. and one store coupon per item. There are multiple coupons listed for each item so that you have options. Pick the best coupon that you have from the list.

        • Tguyette5

Thank you. I was up til 5am this morning doing just that and looking up the coupon policies for all the places I shop. I am going to get this if it kills me..hahaha..thank you again

Oh my! I was up until 3:50 am. We could have talked! LOL Now I am so tired I don't know if I can shop.

Hey Everyone. I went to Walgreens tonight and used my $2.oo Olay Coupons. I bought 4 packs of soap with 4 in each for a total of 16 bars, a bag of peanut M&Ms and 2 20 0z mountain dews. I used my $10 RR from the Vicks Sinex trip the day before and only paid $1.55 OOP. I feel pretty good about this. I was upset bc I had missed Bi-lo's sale on Olay but it seems I still did ok. My total savings was $23.20.

I was at Publix picking up a few things and happened to glance at my Walgreens RRs and noticed they expire TODAY! It totally snuck up on me! So after Publix I made a mad dash to Walgreens, literally pulling up the Southern Savers Walgreens post on my iPhone to see which deals I should do. I mistakenly thought I only had to buy one Pantene in order to get the RR and only one Glide floss to get the RR, but as I found out after I checked out, that wasn't the case. You had to buy two of both. I still consider it a good trip because I made it out of there with literally no planning and spent $3.78 and saved $24.75. However, I only got $2 RR back instead of $5 RR like I thought. Oh well!

      • Ashley

You should have used your rewards at publix! Because it says Manufacturer coupon on top and has instructions on it how to get their money back, they will take it. It rings right in their registers. Sometimes they ask their managers but they always say yes. I also use it at BiLo. I always use mine at Publix because then I don't have to worry about the RRs and Wags's rules :)
