Walmart Logo

Walmart released a decent size ad this week. This list is different from most lists on Southern Savers and is meant for folks who have no other stores. Most of these items are not rock bottom prices but if you need them go for it. I’ve tried to give you a heads up if the items are cheaper somewhere else.

If you see any other great deals at Walmart or coupons leave a comment and help others find them.

Let’s try to stay focused on coupons and deals and leave any personal thoughts on the store out.

    • Jack0224

Winn Dixie has Oscar Meyer variety family pack lunch meats BYGO!

    • Lindsey

You should send this to the execs at Wal-Mart. It wasn't too long ago that they were boasting MAJOR savings on their groceries vs other Food Stores. What a disappointment to see how their “sales” really stack up. And, people say Publix is for the snooty/rich shoppers…

      • genxeratl

I have to say Publix may be a little more expensive but I'll pay the extra vs Kroger (since those are really the only two in Atlanta) any day. At least Publix has beautiful bright clean stores with nice people – even when you can't get them to do what you want most of them try to be nice about it.

    • Frisbeebear

Don't understand why everybody delights in hating WalMart. Their Great Value brand has come a long way, and is VERY affordable, many times beating out name brands at other stores even with sales and coupons. My WalMarts have always been very clean and the staff friendly. If you prefer other places, fine, but there's really no reason for contempt, that I know of !!

      • Meghan

I know the ones by me (Florida) are not very nice. However, my in-laws live in Champaign, IL and theirs is great!! I think it really depends on the area.

      • Heuerholly

I agree. Our Walmart will match prices and take mfr. coupons.
For instance… Kroger is advertising TYSON anytizers for 6.99 plus i have $1.00 off coupon… but they are 6.98 everyday at Walmart.
I do perfer Publix and Krogers fruits and veggies.. but Walmart store brand stuff is really good! just sayin!

      • Shannon

I wish our Walmart had friendly staff. Most employees at every WalMart in my town are extremely rude. It's like they are doing you a favor to check you out at the cash register and heaven's forbid you need some assistance otherwise that is outside of the scope of ringing up your groceries- you might as well have asked them to circumnavigate the globe!

      • mmmdraco

I work at Walmart and so does my husband. So, every time I hear someone spouting off about how Walmart doesn't treat their employees well… I can tell them they're full of it. I got a job at Sam's Club when I was 18. I was making $1.50 more an hour than my friends who had been at the same job since they were 16. I was getting $1000 a year in bonuses. By the time I'd been there for 3 years part time, I was getting personal time and vacation time. I eventually quit there to be the third-key manager at a Waldenbooks where I was fired for embezzlement which my assistant manager had framed me for, but no one bothered to actually research the issue- they just fired me. I then worked at Lowe's Foods as a cashier, and then I moved back to the bakery. I left there when they switched me to a different department without asking me. I worked at Harris Teeter as a cake decorator next. I was the single cake decorator or person who could even ice a cupcake on staff at the Boone, NC store which is one of the busiest in the company, and they wouldn't even let me train any of the deli staff to properly write “Happy Birthday” on a cake even though they promised me they were hiring a part-time person for it. When they finally did, I'd only get him for maybe an hour a day and then they would bring him over to the deli. I worked at Golden Corral after that where I was constantly harassed by my managers. One of them constantly said I wasn't working hard enough, and while he admitted he was joking, hearing that several times an hour is enough to drive you crazy when you're the only person getting anything done. Then I had a manager accuse me of putting a tooth in someone's chocolate cupcake, and another one spit on my face while telling me I needed to get more chocolate cake on the bar when there was more than half of one there already. So, I applied at Walmart. I got the job, they gave me extra money to start with because of my previous experience, and I had no problems. If a customer was mistreating me, my managers stood up for me. Not everything was perfect, but it's certainly closer to it than I've had in any other job. Heck, my first job was working at Food Lion back when I was 15. I got fired by my customer service manager because she dropped a $20 bill from my till when she went to count it, and had already processed the paperwork by the time she found it. Now, I still make more than most of my friends, I have good health insurance, good dental, good life, and my husband has gotten 2 promotions in the last year with the promise of another one in a few months. I get 10% off virtually anything in the store, including fresh fruits and veggies. If I need to pick up one deal, I can usually price match it at Walmart, or it's something I can do without.

There are a lot of people who don't have much except a Walmart around them. We idealize our economy and think that Walmart put everything out of business, but would we be any better off if we were all still shopping at mom & pop stores where a coupon might not even be taken, let alone doubled or tripled? Where a sale might mean that your overall total would be $70, not $75? I'll take Walmart. There are plenty of things I can get there for a better deal than I can at any of my local grocery or drug stores. I don't need to run to Walgreens to get the Precise pain reliever cream for free since all of the Precise products are $5.97 at my local Walmart, so I get them cheap enough that I don't need to bother. After my 10% discount and $5 coupon, I paid more for a 75% Easter basket to put on my coffee table as a catch all basket. Plus, the one stop shopping really does matter at least a little with the gas price increase. I'd love to be able to drive all over town to really get the best deals, but if Walmart has me paying a few cents more, that's fine by me. I appreciate Jenny making sure people know that they do have other options. I've actually sent a lot of people to this website so they can learn to get the best deals. But I generally find that if it's something I need *right now* and it isn't on sale elsewhere (and Walmart doesn't say that it will beat the sale+coupon price you can get somewhere else) then I know I can get it there without spending so much more on it that I really am wasting money rather than doing something that's the equivalent of using a coupon that the cashier won't let double somewhere else.

        • Jolley4coupons

Well I can tell you that not all Walmarts are the same. The ones close to my house consist of rude/dumb people whom I have had to argue with just to try to use a coupon. I had 4 freebie coupons for Fixodent for my mom and the girl up front told me that I could only use 1 per transaction. I argued and wanted to speak to another manager. They sent a guy up, after I waited 15 minutes, who told me he knew nothing about coupons and would have to rely on what the girl said. Really!?! I explained that they said 1 per purchased item….not 1 per transaction. I even showed him some coupons that stated limit 4 like coupons per transaction. He had no idea and was totally ignorant….but was a manager? The only way I'll even go in there is if I can get a lot of something for free. Their stores here are always filthy too.

          • isabella's mommy

Print a copy of the walmart coupon policy off. You can get it on their website. Take a copy with you when you go and show them what the coupon policy is when they dont know :) that should cut down on some of the frustration.

        • Erin

I am glad to hear this, my husband just started working at WM after nearly 2 years of seeking work. He is vastly overqualified and underpaid, but so far they are treating him well. We've been pleasantly surprised by some of the perks, like a Sam's Club membership for $1. Hopefully, he can move up with them, or at least be happy until the job market recovers and he can be more selective.

          • Jacketfan24

I have been with Walmart for 18 years and couldn't make the same money anywhere else. I supported my family for two years while my husband was out of work on my Walmart salary. My husband is now working there part time while he finishes school…they are very flexible with his schedule. Erin, there are so many job opportunities in management if your husband wants to go in that area. It's not for everyone, but it's a good company to work for and takes care of it's people.

      • Galveston 2000

no contempt-just the facts mam-i know they do hire a lot of people that would have trouble finding a job any where else-thats good

    • Mama04

Ad Match Kraft singles at Krogers is $1.79- – use $1off coupon makes it 79 cents

    • Geff

The Nivea Body Wash for Women is $3.00 at our Walmart… So the $3 coupon makes it free. Just thought I would pass that along.

      • Geff

Oh, there was also Gold Bond hand sanitizer on clearance for $2 and there is a $2 off coupon for that. Another freebie.

        • tammy phipps

do u rememeber what insert the gold bond q is in? Thanks

          • tammy phipps

            Found it, 4/3 SS

            • Geff

Glad you found it. I wasn't sure what insert it was in, I had them already cut out sitting in an envelope.

      • Jolley4coupons

They have it on the Mega Event at Kroger so it's $2.49 there!

      • mamabelbel

I was able to pick up 4 of these free the other day and was pleasantly surprised! Then I got to register and the woman refused to scan my coupons because “there is no way that you are allowed to get stuff for free. Something is wrong here.” She held up the whole line fussing at me until I insisted she get the manager. The manager didn't even speak to me or make eye contact but scanned the coupons and walked away. It was bizarre. I am afraid to try a trip when I get overage or have more than 4 or 5 coupons! I am not a Walmart hater, but I am proceeding cautiously…

        • Goochjill

Don't let the manager OR the cashier intimidate you with your coupons. Sounds like the cashier was having a bad day and took it out on you. Find yourself a friendly cashier and try to go to that person each time…stand up for your rights, after all YOU are the customer!

        • Cathy

I'm a WalMart cashier and I'm sorry that you had a bad experience like that. Yes, they could have been having a bad day, but even if they were that behavior is unacceptable. We're not all like that, I promise.

        • Geff

Yes, don't let that bother you. When that happens to me, I just politely explain that while Yes, it appears that I'm getting the item for free… I am not. I am using a $3 coupon instead of $3 cash out of my pocked. When walmart turns the coupon in to the company that issued it, they will get their $3. Nothing wrong with the transaction, that is what coupons are for.

      • Jjeanlynn

Last week in Met., La. it was 2.88; I made 12 cents!

    • Slgumm

My Walmart had the Hershey's Drops candy 2/$5 and there was a $2/2 coupon in the paper this week. Makes them $1.50 each which is cheaper than I have seen anywhere else. I would like to say that I enjoy my wal-mart. I have a cvs and a walgreens, and neither of them have the customer service that my walmart has. I still shop those stores for the great deals, but I sometimes they act like I am trying to steal money from their personal paycheck. I am sorry that so many of you seem to be having negative experiences with Walmart.

      • Galveston 2000

its nice to know someone can deal with wal-mart-just last wk -horriable time-q was 55 off 2 dz eggs-next big red cola free w purchase of 2 dz eggs-cashier said no-i was trying to use 2 q on 1 item-finally-threw his hands in the air & actually shouted-“there -you can have the 55 cents”

        • isabella's mommy

omg did you ask to speak with a manager?? they would have handled that.

      • Jacketfan24

As a Walmart associate, it makes me happy to see that someone has had a good experience there. The store I work in is great, but it's smaller that a regular supercenter, so we can get to know our customers better. Our cashiers are great. I think that the stores just get too big sometimes.

        • Slgumm

I think you are exactly right. I live in a fairly small town so even though the walmart is a supercenter I still see the same workers pretty much everytime I'm in there. It has the feel of a smaller store.

      • Geff

Walmart is no different than any other store. There are good ones and not so good ones. I like the customer service at ours and most of the workers are nice. It's a small walmart and really slow to restock… and doesn't have a whole lot of stuff, but nice.

I did confuse them the other day when I bought Similac ready to feed, dental floss, ky jelly, and hamburger buns. My total was $0.32 cents. She did a double take and checked the register, lol.

    • Thesmithsofop

You can buy the Huggies Swim diapers for $4.99 at Walgreens right now. Use the $2 off coupon that Jenny has listed then there is a $2 coupon in the May Walgreens book.

      • Hailey Hurst 22

Also onsale @babies r us with in ad coupon for $6.99.

    • As far as the food (low-carber here), I'd go for the Jimmy Dean and 73% ground beef. Jimmy Dean isn't going much less than $3 anymore and it's becoming harder and harder to get regular ground beef for less than $2.00. Even Aldi, who long had 73% at $1.79 is now at $2.19/lb in Orlando as of yesterday. The 100oz Tide for $10.99 can be bought at Publix and one of the drugstores this week for $10.99.

    • Mrscori2006

I have a question…for example the Bush's baked beans listed above…how can you use a coupon from a Kroger home mailer at Wal-Mart? They don't accept competitor's coupons?!

      • Stephanie in Bham

It is a manufacturer coupon, so it can be used at any store. HTH

      • Cathy

I don't have that mailer so I can't see the coupon, but it has an M listed next to it. WalMart accepts all Manufacturer's coupons, even if they come out of a competitor's advert. Just make sure it says 'Manufactuer's coupon'

      • Tricia3462

My WalMart does take competitor coupons….they actually adjust the price and do it like a price match and that means you can also use a manufacturers coupon . Most casiers do not realize this but I had a cashier explain it to me like that now I always do it!

    • Spetitt

I've heard Walmart does price matching with other stores advertised sales.
Has anybody in the areas with fewer store options tried this and used matching coupons?

      • me8107

Target has 2 liter Cokes on sale for a buck. I brought the ad showing the price to Walmart (I called ahead to make sure they would do it). They did the price match for me at the register, but just be aware that since the Target ad said “5 for $5” the cashier told me I had to buy in increments of 5 otherwise I'd be charged Walmart's regualr price.

      • Bh

yes they do. My Walmart posts other ads around the store

      • Jjeanlynn

yes. I did it last week in Metairie, La. Had the ads w/ me; No problems

      • Dlcoupon

I once had them price match a deal on laundry detergent, and then they gave me a hard time using the qs. The manager's answer, “You'd be getting them too cheap.” Really? That is the point of qs. I think they don't understand how qs work. Anyway, an email to corporate, proved that yes, I should have been a allowed to use the qs. I took my business elsewhere.

    • Kristiwashere

On the Nature Valley granola bars, they are 1.99 ea / 10 ct at my Publix this week, fyi. To other commenters, I have worked at Walmart: their price match policy excludes B1G1 (as they told us, “other stores jack up their prices on individual items to make up the profit lost with b1g1, walmart always has low prices. We would lose too much money”) Sometimes they will accept competitors coupons – if it states the PRICE of the item, not savings. I.e. razors for $2, not $1 off razors. Since that doesn't specify a “price” to match. Though sometimes they will accept other stores coupons for $$ off, if its a manager who appreciates their customers :)

      • Jacketfan24

The new price matching policy that started last month includes B1G1 ads as long as the store's price is printed in the ad (most of them do).

      • Ash_got

The new policy does B1G1. I just did it this past weekend! YAY!

    • Kayrums56

Ok people. Not everyone in the world have a nice disposition & sometimes working with the public is no picnic. These rude, unhappy people probably should not be on the registers. I have yet to have any issues with my walmart, except for re-stocking the shelves when the is a good deal, but it seems that is everywhere. There are always going to be rude people to deal with. Try a little friendly chat with them before handing over your coupons. Enough griping, there are more important things in life! Sorry, just a little tired of hearing the same old thing. done with my venting.

    • Amy J.

I must share my wonderful “find” at Wal-Mart, in clearance section today……Matrix Sleek Conditioner (normally $16.50, walmart price) clearanced for $4.50 per bottle…….cha-ching! This is awesome since I recently started using this product! There were 3 bottles, so I just went ahead and bought all three of them, to be stocked up! Now I can only hope to find the Matrix Sleek SHAMPOO clearanced at some point, somewhere, before I run out :-)
Also, I don't usually shop at walmart unless i absolutely have to……I basically went there for the Nivea Boday Wash deal. I ended up getting $106.11 worth of product for $22.24…..I saved 78.85%.
I also found the Bic Comfort Advanced razors (4 pack) on semi-clearance for $4, so I went ahead and used the $3 coupon on 3 of those…..so about a quarter per razor.
I also found a holiday Febreze Luminary starter kit on clearance for $3, so i used my coupon for a free refill when u purchase the starter kit…..so i paid $1.50 each for those :-)
      Very pleased with the trip!

    • Wcrssnchr

ok so i have a question, with price matching can you do the the b1 get1 free on the right guard bodywash as a price match at walmart?

      • Slgumm

I don't think Walmart honors B1G1 deals. They only honor products with a specific price.

        • Ash_got

They do honore B1G1 i just did it with batteries this weekend. You have to know what the original price is of the sale though. As long as you know that, they will do it. The cashier had to get a “cheat sheet” out o how to ring it up, but it worked! I also used a coupon. I got 8pk Duracell batteries for around $2.20 a pack!

        • Donnapope2008

their new policy says they can match a ad for b1g1 sale as long as you bring competitors ad and it shows the price of the buy 1 such as buy 1 for 5.99 get 2nd 1 free.  they will match that but i would take a printed copy of walmart policy with you because if your store is anything like my home town walmart you will need it because the cashiers didnt know they were doing b1g1 now!!

    • Flygirl22963

Ok gang ,I just came from Walmart ,and I was after the Scott 4 pack of toilet tissue which I found but I also scored the new Ritz crackers called Crackerfuls with a Peelie for $1.50 off each box so they were$1.18 a box! scored!

    • ET

Please check you Kroger ad before buying the Kraft cheese, or Kelloggs cereal.

    • Angela

I've read the walmart coupon and price match policy, but it still is not real clear on my question. Will walmart price match the items at walgreens with the register rewards like:Herbal essence hair product 2.99-1.00RR=1.99 for the product. So can I price match it for $1.99 at walmart?

      • Slgumm

I don't believe you can, but that may be worth a call to corporate to find out.

      • sheena

i was told by an associate that they will match the actual sale price, but not the price including the RR

      • Sydneyatkins

i work @ walmart in va and we do but not sure about other states u kno how everywhere might have different policies

        • Ash_got

My friend is a Walmart manager and their policies are from cooperate and each store has to follow the same policy. They don't get to pick and choose what they want to honor. He said if the store manager wouldn't help to file a complaint with cooperate!

    • Martinez2351379

Went to walmart this morning to get the P&G ivory soap deal and they wouldn't take the coupon. The register said it was over the limit of the product. The coupon states 1.00 off 1 bar and I have never seen just 1 bar of ivory sold. Long story short they wouldn't take the coupon. Anyone else have a problem?

      • Krikey509

I used my coupons at Wal-mart last night and they accepted mine. I got 13 pkgs. I would suggest you try another Wal-mart if you have another nearby.

        • mlndm1

          Me too.

        • Carolinablueyes84

13 pkgs?? Wanna leave some for everybody else?

      • Angeline4483

I had that same problem today, I even called ivory's customer service number, was told they don't package single bars, 3 bars to a pack is smallest pack available, I hope walmart and ivory work together so customers can redeem coupons, I did get mine at Ingles, it was .28 cents higher but still a deal. Good luck. angeline.

    • t2000al

I am new to the couponing world and i see certain “booklets” listed next to products that I'm not familiar with…”Spring Savings booklet”, “Get More From Your Pharmacy booklet”, “Fill your Basket with $12 in Savings”, etc. Where do you find these booklets?

    • Angeline4483

I have just come from walmart, they would not let me redeem my coupon “$1.00 off ONE IVORY Bar/ body wash or liquid handsoap” because the smallest package is 3 bars to a pack and they told me I had to buy a single bar in a pack, which I have yet to see, I got my coupon from PG in my local sunday paper, CVS had no problem with the coupon for the package I wanted but they was out, Ingles had ivory in stock and I got my ivory, why did walmart perceive the coupon different? I contacted ivory and was told they package in 3 bars to a pack, not single bars….

      • t2000al

I have redeemed 2 of those coupons for the 3 bar pack from my local Walmart this week. I would ask for a manager or try a different cashier!

      • Despina0103

        I shopped walmart today also, and cashier tried to tell me same thing. I did explain to her that i just meant 1 of any bar of soap and she should try to scan it. which it did scan. Then she said she couldn't allow it because coupon was taking off more then product amount. She finally called CSM and she said they just changed policies again. But lucky for me policy it changed where they would except full amount of coupon and give me an overage. I just try to get the cashier in a good mood before I give coupons…lol. hopefully they are more likely to help and be patient.;

      • Crystalcullen317

if you go to Kroger TODAY they have the 3 pack or the bodywash on sale for 10 for $10 and you can use it on either one and get it for free :)

    • Mojojess3

Just FYI the walmart in Indian Land SC has the macaroni homestyle dinners for $1. if you still have the coupon it is free!
$1 off Kraft Homestyle Mac & Cheese dinner, SS 4/17

    • Bbdy321

can anyone please tell me why when i tryed to use a coupon on a trail size tide they would not let me? coupon did not state “no trail sizes” ty :)

    • Melsheetz

I went to Walmart today and got 3 bottles Nivea Bodywash, 2 Ivory soap packs, and 2 OralB toothbrushes ($1.50 ea) for FREE! Thanks for the heads up on these, I would have never known.

    • Couponer317

If anybody has signed up for the GERBER coupons to come by mail and you get a check that says $5.75 or more then go to Walmart and get the smallest can of liquid and it should be $4.99 or less and you will get it for free plus overage :) I got a check that said $15.75 and got the $4.99 can of good start and I got back $10.46

    • Jenni

Can anyone tell me how the competitor's ads work? If I were to bring in an ad from Walgreens, would they honor the sale price if it is the sale price with card?

      • Dianna

Yes, they will honor the price, IF the price is stated in the ad, and yes, on Walmarts new clarification of their Match It program, they will honor the price. What they won't do is honor a B1G1 if the competitor price is higher, and you are using a B1G1 coupon.

        • Donnapope2008

hey this is the problem I had tonight at walmart I was matching a walgreens ad at walmart for a buy 1 get 1 free item and had a buy 1 get 1 free coupon and i thought it should have been free I went thru all sorts of problems lonnng story but it wasnt coming out the way i thought it was suppossed to.and the walgreens ad price was more than the walmart price for the buy 1 item could you tell me where you found how this scenario should work?  I was very frustrated to say the least when i left the store!!

        • Tsrussell68

Why not?  I tried this with the price match from walgreens for the B1G1 clean and clear body wash.  They would price match the B1G1 part but refused to let me use the B1G1 coupon(worth $6.00) .  They will get reimbursed for the coupon plus .08 cents so why should they care if I pay the $6.00 or they get $6.08 from the maunfacturer?

    • I found Purex Laundry Detergent for free at Walmart yesterday, I just used my $3 coupon and it was $2.97, So actually I made .03 cents.

      • cs

if you used it on the small bottle then you committed coupon fraud. The coupon is for 150 oz's and the $2.97 purex is way smaller then that.

    • I got Purex laundry detergent for free yesterday at Walmart, with the $3 off Purex Laundry detergent. This was a great find!

      • Yumikos457

Could you tell me what insert and date. Thank you

      • jiya

was it on sale or clearance???

      • cs

if you used it on the small bottle then you committed coupon fraud. The coupon is for 150 oz's and the $2.97 purex is way smaller then that.

No problem using the ivory coupon today.  I finally found the Nivea Body Wash. Woo Hoo!  I'm making up gift bags for my daughter's elementary teachers.  Outstanding service from the representative in Health and Beauty Department in the Oldsmar Walmart in FL this morning.  .

    • Terri

ps There was plenty of the women's body wash left on the shelf and extra of the rose scent in the back room.  They have only one scent / type the men's body was left with more in the back room.  Call before going to make sure they are still in stock to save gas. Coupon expires Sat 5/14

Had an issue with Wal-mart taking the similac coupons for $5.00. They price matched to CVS for $4.99 and then said they couldn't take it because it was over the purchase price. Now, if I was trying to get the other Similac for $3.84 and try to use the $5.00 off coupon I could understand, but a penny? They didn't have an issue with the Ivory soap which was .97 cents with $1 off. She called 2 managers over and finally they let me use them. Six bottles free! (not like I was clearing the shelf.)

The Easley, SC Walmart is trying a new test program. Yesterday started DOUBLE COUPONS up to 60 cents. Hopefully, if it works and people don't abuse the system, then Walmart will take it company wide.

I went to Wal-Mart today and the Claritin that I found for $17.88 was a 30 count not 40.  The only 40 count box I saw was $25.xx.

A few months ago when there was a 3.00 off the Purex sheets, I went to Walmart and had them match the prices at the CVS.  I had about 8 of them.  When I finally got up to the register, the cashier told me I could only buy one to use one coupon.  I tried to explain this to her.  I finally said, just void and start over, I will buy them one at a time.  She then called the CSM to void the transaction.  At this time I was back at the end of the line.  The CSM came up to me and said I could do these in separate transactions, but I would have to go out of the building and come back in.  WHO HAS EVER HEARD OF SUCH!  Several of the people in line were also mad.  I promptly left my stuff and went and called 1-800-WALMART.

After weeks I finally had resolution.  I had about 5 different people calling me appologizing.  They were from national, regional and at the Selma Walmart store.  It is really sad that the cashiers, and the CSM's don't know the policy (please).

In the end,  I was given a 50.00 gift and I was able to use all of my coupons, they even matched the sale price that had expired.

Even though they told me if I had any problem in the future to let the manager know, however, I still avoid that store.
