Walmart in attempts to win Holiday Shoppers is lowering prices on many things for the next few months.  Most items are toys.  They have lowered prices on a few food products though.

Frozen Turkeys 40¢ lb

Banana’s 33¢ lb

I would normally say that there isn’t really a deal that you can’t find lower at a real Grocery store but these two are tough to beat right now.

There is one hope:  The Bi-Lo ad says that they will match any price on Turkey this season.  Anyone up for a price match deal?

(thanks to everyone that emailed!)

    • Erin B.

Ingles has bananas for .39/lb this week.

    • I’m willing to spend a little more on my turkey and bananas just to NOT go to Walmart!

      • Megan

        AMEN

        • nancy

me too. I have not stepped into Walmart in over A year.
It is too loud and never enough parking.

          • Stephanie

Oh that isn’t the only problem at Walmart…I see too many creepy people and I have two small children. I HATE that store and avoid it like the plague. I will shop anywhere else and pay a few cents more…alot of the time Target is just as cheap and sometimes cheaper!

            • Kathryn

I only get to Walmart once every 3 or 4 months, if that for odd little things that I cannot get at the grocery store. Two customers behind me at the returns desk got into a fist fight, and then less than a month later a woman threatened me at the gas pumps, so I take my money somewhere else where I feel safe.

        • Sharon

          Double that AMEN!

          • I triple that.. No Walmart..

      • kathi

No kidding. I quit shopping Walmart a few years ago for political reasons and didn’t realize how much I hated being in there until a friend asked me specifically to stop and get something from WM for her.

However, I am going to try to find a sale flyer that lists their turkeys because my BiLo will price match on turkey.

      • Barry

I’m sorry but Wal-Mart isn’t that bad…have you ever been to one of the Neighborhood Markets? They are quite nice and I’ve never seen anything crazy going on there that doesn’t happen at Kroger(I’ve certainly never seen any fist fights) That said, I rarely shop there but that’s because they don’t double coupons and their sales aren’t as deep as Kroger’s. I see no justification in the all out Wal-Mart bash that goes on here.

        • Marilyn

I guess I should be glad that the Walmart stores in our area are better run than some others. There are some things that I do continue to get at Walmart, though I am enjoying being able to beat their price on more items as I get better at couponing.

    • Marie

Thanks for the heads up! I passed on the info to friends and family too, because I know there are a lot of families out there who cannot afford much. I read in an article online that they are doing Thanksgiving dinner deals, to feed eight, for $20 also. :)

    • MRB

Unfortunately, the Wal-Mart here is still selling turkeys for .98/lb. Noticed the Winn-Dixie ad today had them for .68/lb this week. But I did like the price on bananas, Stove Top, and Carnation Evaporated Milk (.78 for both of those!)

      • The Walmart here has Butterball turkeys for .98/lb and Jenny-O turkeys for .40. I don’t know when that started, but I saw it yesterday.

    • Karsten

I posted this under the Bi-Lo ad, but Wal-Mart is lowering their russet potatoes to $2.50 for a 10 pound bag which is a good bit cheaper than Bi-Lo’s deal this week. Also, they’ve lowered their Chex cereals again this holiday to $2 a box (this is the only cereal we buy since my son has a Celiac’s disease and all but 2 Chex cereals are gluten free.)

      • Jen M

Publix has Chex cereal on sale this week. B1G1

      • Kroger has a 4-day sale (Thur-Sun) and 5-lb bags of potatoes are advertised as $1.18. In ATL anyway . . .

    • Mina

I dunno, Jenny. I bought just over 6 lbs. of bananas at Bi-Lo today for $1.49. That made them under $.25/lb. Yes, they were the ones that are past their prime in looks, but just reaching their peak in taste. ;-)

      • Jenny

That’s what we do too, but for folks that like them yellow, to the almost yellow green side then 33/ lb is a good price :)

    • Bethany

are these prices advertized somewhere where we could print them out and show Bi-lo?

    • joy

Wal-mart also has Campbells cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soup on sale for .58 cents a can and if you have the $1.00/2 cans coupon, it’s a great deal .08 cents a can.

      • Jenny

I looked for these today and didnt’ find them. I was astonished to see that the cans of Campbell’s Cream Soups were $1.44 a CAN! I couldn’t believe it. I’ll wait til they get to the .60 a can I bought them for last winter!

        • Jaime

I looked for them at our Wal-Mart also. When I went to the soup aisle the regular price was posted. Then, as I was walking down the main aisle, I saw them for the $.58 a can price on an end cap.

          • LD

That is where I found them also , on the end cap. I did get the turkey for .40 a pound . Have no store here that price match or double coupons. So .40 a lb is good for me . And lots of lunch meat left over for that price I wish I had room in freezer for 2 lol. We eat a lot of Turkey lunchmeat in this house. I missed the nanas though . wish I had seen it , since the walmart here is about 3 miles from our house I may send someone up there for nanas If they still have them for that price .

    • Jenn

      Aldis bananas are usually $.33/lb.

      • Stephanie

Most of the time our Aldi store has gross looking bananas or ones that never ripen…you have to be careful most of the time…although I have gotten some good ones at our store before.

        • Elizabeth

I have great luck at our Aldi’s. Love it for the staples milk, eggs, veggies – things I don’t have a coupon for. Saves a lot of time.

    • Michelle

2 Liters of Coke products are .85 each at the Wal-Mart in Kingsland, GA. I don’t like shopping at Wal-Mart BUT… I had to go this morning to get Wilton Cake Decorating Supplies…. happen to see the Coke sale.

    • Jenny

I was at my WalMart today and there was a crowd of at least 15 people waiting for the meat manager to refill the freezer with frozen turkeys! I imagine these will be sold out very quickly, if you want one, go get it soon!

    • Laura

I am not a walmart fan either, but my 22lb turkey for just under $9 was a great deal! Walmart had a full page ad in the Atlanta Journal yesterday (Wed) with the deals listed. I got the soups also.

    • BR

I don’t shop much at Walmart now since learning the B1G1 and coupons at Food Lion but I couldn’t pass up looking for the .40lb turkeys. The first Walmart I went to was sold out and they weren’t very helpful with information so I tried another newer Walmart and they had just refilled their supply. The cashier was also very helpful and said that everyone had been getting them. I got two of them, one for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas…now I need the hams to go on a really good sale for New Years!!LOL

    • meredith

I will do ANYTHING to avoid Wal-Mart…..it seems to bring out the WORST in people!!!!!! (myself included :)

      • Amy

        hahaha Amen to that!

    • Amanda

Hmmm, is this published in an ad?? I know my area Target (Oakleaf) has now started to match prices if you can bring in the ad showing the price/time period…. (Jacksonville, FL)

      • Stacey

The turkey price was published in a press release from WM explaining how you buy a feast for a family of 8 for $20. I tried to post the link earlier but it shows “your comment is awaiting moderation”. Anyway, you can go to walmartstores.com and find the press release.

      • lynn

Jenny how low do you see publix going on the turkeys?
i use to shop walmart till you showed me how much cheaper publix is i… i personal use to think publixs was to expensive thank you for showing use how to shop and live better you will be remembered in our thanksgiving prayer of thanks

    • Adele

Boiling Springs SC store has the soup for .58 a can, Stove Top for .78 or.79 a box and the .40 a lb turkeys (limit 2 per person). Bananas were still .39 a lb. The sparkling cider that the $2 printable is for is $2.97 I think. Is it cheaper elsewhere?

    • Also eggs were 40? cents a dozen! I was astonished! I HAD to go there today for frozen hamburgers. I didn’t realize how much I dislike that place! lol and how much I LOVE publix. Didn’t used to think we could afford it. Now with me out of a job we eat better thatn we used to. Funny!

    • j.hayes

It is all about customer service. This is something that Wal-mart employee lack, yet publix, target and other retailer’s strongly focused on. You want to save money, feel safe and experience good customer service. Wal-mart employee’s are in a rush, loss for knowledge, and frustrated and their manager’s avoid conflict. However, Publix is focused on helping us live through the recession and be treated with respect.

      • Barry

I worked at Wal-Mart and none of these descriptions apply to me. I will agree that I have run into that at Wal-Mart as well as most places that I shop(one of the worst customer service experiences being at Kroger). You have to understand that everywhere you go there will be less than “top-notch” associates employed there.

    • HFerry

I am fairly new to this site and the couponing thing all together. I was wondering why I did not see anything about walmart on here….until today. So now can anyone help me!!!I live in LaFayette,GA and all there is around here is Walmart,Shop Rite and Bi-LO(as far as grocery stores)my walmart will not price match on B1G1 deals, and the newspaper here has yet to have the Kroger and Publix ad in it. I will have to drive 30 minutes one way just to get to either of those stores and they are in opposite directions…what should I do? There is a Food Lion about 20 minutes away, but it is kind of discouraging to not be able to go to the stores and get double on coupons, it almost makes me feel like I should just give up….A little encouragement please if anyone has any. Thanks

    • C.Parry

I had stopped shopping at Walmart but we have a “upscale” Walmart built right next to Thornblade Country Club. I LOVE that store. It is so customer friendly and I never have a problem using my coupons. I wanted to mention the coupon for Butterball turkey.( $2.00 off BB turkey when buying any combination of 5 Stove Top or Heinz Gravy).

      • Tiffany

If I go to Wal-Mart, that is the only one I will go to. So far they have been able to keep it tidy and presentable.

    • Traci M.

Last year, I believe, the Publix frozen turkeys went down to .69 lb. A fresh turkey is usually around .99 lb…..but the prices may go down this year due to this competition from Walmart and waiting to see how Kroger prices them.

    • Beth

Turkey, bananas, and cream soup (just full fat chicken and mushroom, not celery or low fat) at those low prices here in Tallahassee. Also, ground beef for just 1.25 a pound. I hate that store too, but will go once a month or so to stock up on some of these things.

    • I have avoided Walmart for several years…like someone else said…for politic reasons. I do have a Sam’s membership, but I haven’t been there since May…I began couponing in June.

However, after several months of couponing & getting the most out of Publix, I have discovered there are things that I will NEVER get a good price for let alone a coupon for at Publix.

So, I decided today, that I will do my normal shopping at Publix to get the most out of the BOGO’s and coupon stacking, but as much as I hate Walmart, to maximize my savings, I will buy those things that are just a lot more affordable at Walmart that I can’t seem to save anything on at Publix. I will check first at Publix, but I will buy those cheaper items at Walmart. It pains me to admit this, but it’s the only way I can stretch my grocery budget further.

      • LD

I am right there with you . With no aldis or any store here but Publix and a winn dixie . I do most at publix and the fillers at walmart . Once in a while we can get to Food lion but it is not close for us so we only get there about once a month .

    • Elena

I am new to this and not sure where to leave comments! But I was just at WalMart in Greer, SC. They are posting the grocery store ads and matching the prices. Publix was out of Domino sugar yesterday and I went to WalMart today to get kitty litter and stuff and was going to buy store brand sugar. The postings were everywhere from Publix and BiLo ads…so all sale items were matched at WalMart without a hassle!
