Weekly Weigh In

These past few weeks have gotten me out of my routines and today on the scale that shows.  I’m up 1.5 lbs, and while I’d like to blame it on other things (you know the excuses we all use) I need to just suck it up and accept that I haven’t exercised as much or tracked meals as often this week.

So… today I am making two small goals and sharing with you to help me be accountable.

  1. I will track every meal this week!
  2. I will exercise at least 4 times for 30+ minutes this week.

The second goal is harder than the first, but I’m going to make it happen.  My focus is that we are two weeks away from the beach and I really wanted to be in the 170’s (179 counts).  I need to get to work and not let a bad week stop me.

I had one accomplishment this week though that wasn’t on the scale.  My two big girls and I ran in a 5k family fun run with their AHG troop (we brought Mary Rose but she isn’t allowed to run yet).  It was through the state forest in town and was killer.  I thought my half mile gravel drive was tough… This trail was constant uphill and downhill with roots, gullies and more to avoid.   Two days later and every step I take still hurts!  It was a small race with only maybe 25 people running, but we were happy to take home 2nd and 3rd place for the girls and I got “fastest mom”.  Never expected an award for running, but if you want to win joining a race with only one other person in your category is a great way to do it.  I wasn’t really all that fast, we stopped and caught our breath a lot, but we completed it running a good portion of it.

My excitement for finishing was cut short by a dad at the finish line congratulating me for running while pregnant…  So yeah, we are no where near the end goal.  I chose to not correct him and make both of us feel bad, but I really wish people would stop saying that!!!  I think I’m going to start wearing a corset now.

For the next 30 days I’m going to do an ab challenge!  Today is super easy so just hop out of the chair and knock it out.  By the end of the month we will have quite a bit of work to do, but hopefully I’ll look a tad less pregnant and you’ll see some results too.  Keep in mind this doesn’t replace all your exercise (especially not in the beginning), you still need cardio at the least.


Let’s take it one day at a time, so don’t fret about Day 30, just focus on Day 1.  We can do this!

P.S. As follow up from last week, I mentioned wanting to get a spray tan.  A friend in town shared that we have a cosmetic school that does them for $10.  So I am booked for next and ready to be tan for the beach!  Might be a little daring of me to go to a school to do it, but I’m feeling brave.

      Have you tried the Lose It app? Its great! (easy to track foods -homemade /restaurant for those rare occasions) and they give you lots of challenges to join

      you have inspired me — I have ~20 lbs to lose and I have lost 5 in the last month. Walking and using My Fitness Pal to log all my meals. I too have had an up week, but am already back down and more. It happens. Life happens. Great job staying on! I will join the ab challenge in a week (traveling this week with my mom — my goal is just not to gain!)

      You are doing great! I haven’t posted in a week or two. I’m still plugging along. It’s been 10 weeks for me and my total loss so far is 13.9. I don’t exercise as much as I would like but I get my movement in with yard work and household chores.
      I admire you for running. And men can be awful about putting their foot in their mouth!!! You do not look pregnant at all – you look great!

      Hang in there! My goal is to stay focused on losing an average of a pound a week in time for a Labor Day weekend wedding.

      You’re doing fantastic! Just finished Day 1 of your Ab Challenge. Hoping to gain back the ab strength I had pre-baby. I haven’t done a sit up since 8th grade! I was shocked how hard it was to get to 5 let alone 15! Thank you for this challenge and for being brave enough to post each week. It helps me recharge myself for the week.

      I just finished day 9 of what looks to be the same ab challenge…my app won’t let me look a head…but it looks the same, I was wondering if they were going to add anything else in there or if the numbers were just going to keep rising…now I know, lol

      Had to go to Goodwill today and buy me one pair of jeans that fit. new med’s, stress and carb cravings have done me back in. The 20 I lost is back. Will just change everything to make it right, No excuses, no failure, just human.

      What helped me reach my weekly exercise goals was to buy a secondhand elliptical. It’s always available when I have 30 minutes to jump on and it doesn’t matter if it’s raining or hot outside. As an incentive, I get to watch Netflix while I’m working out.

      Great job on the 5k! I coach runners at my church (First Baptist Irmo) Run for God group. They are all beginners and it always hurts! Also, I am currently pregnant and not obvious to some people so it can make me self conscious. I get “you don’t look pregnant”… “where’s your belly” all the time, but my clothes don’t fit and my doctor is happy with my weight gain. Don’t worry about what other people think except yourself (I think our spouses opinions count here too). Good job and congrats on persevering through the 5k.
