Weekly Weigh In

It feels like it was just Monday, this week has flown by.  I was only at home for one day this past week, so I’ve only checked in on the scale once.  It didn’t show any changes from the previous week and I’m not too surprised since I’ve been eating on the go a lot.  No complaints here though as long as it doesn’t go up!

Before I left for my trip last week I spent the weekend cleaning out the closet.  Anything that was too big now went straight to Goodwill and I played dress up trying on all sorts of things I haven’t worn in ages.  It’s like having a whole new wardrobe!  While the scale might not have changed this week, there are ways to tell that I’m still making progress so I’m going to focus there for motivation.

  • I ran for 11 minutes without stopping!  The girls and I have been using the C25k app to get ready for a fun run in two weeks, we are only up to 5 minute runs with app, but while I was away I decided to go without the app and just see what I could do.  It helped that it was completely flat along the water in San Diego compared to my hilly gravel driveway at home, but 11 minutes of running isn’t something I’ve been able to do in a long long time.
  • While it’s not an exciting reason, yesterday I wore a black dress to my grandmother’s visitation that I wore to my college graduation.  That was 14 years ago or probably better to say, 5 kids ago.
  • Cleaning out the closet I got rid of 3 sizes of clothes!  I have decided to cut all ties to these items, I don’t want to even to think about needing them again.

I have about 16 pounds to go to my first goal, and I’m realizing that by that point probably nothing in my closet will fit. To keep me motivated toward the end go I grabbed two gift cards this week that I’m leaving on my night stand. I went to raise.com and got a $150 gift card to the Loft for $95 and I used Swagbucks to get a $50 gift card to Lands End for free. I don’t plan on using them until I’ve hit at least the 170 mark, but the idea of a tiny shopping spree sounds great (that 14 year old black dress isn’t the only thing in my closet that old).

I’m up for other ways to keep yourself motivated too. Anyone have ways that help from day to day?
