Weekly Weigh In

For the last 6 weeks I have been hovering at the same point.  Losing a pound or two then gaining it back, fluctuating back and forth every few weeks.  While I guess I should be glad for the maintaining and not gaining, I’m not to a point where I want to stop losing.  So… I’ve decided to try a reboot (think unplug the computer and kick it a few times).  I lost a lot in the very beginning using Nutrisystem and not eating anything off plan, so I’ve decided to go back on it for at least the next three weeks.  I had a goal of getting to 170 before the Becoming Conference (3 weeks away) and while that isn’t a healthy goal anymore, I’d be glad to at least lose 5 lbs before then.

This weeks numbers:

Starting Weight (18 weeks ago): 202
Last Week: 178.2
Current Weight: 179.6
Goal Weight: 165

My original goal was to hit 165 before 9/1 and I could still possibly do that.  15 lbs in 6.5 weeks will be tight, but I’m not losing hope yet!

So for this week my little goals:

  • Stick to Nutrisystem for all meals (thankfully we aren’t traveling any for a bit)
  • Exercise 4-5 times each week.
  • Drink lots of water!

I haven’t really talked a lot about water on my weekly posts.  I’ll confess it’s because I’m not a huge water fan.  I like bubbly drinks with taste.  However, my body is a fun of water and I am realizing I do so much better when I am hydrated.  So I’m adding it as a goal/plan so that I’ll stick to it.  I even got a fun water bottle to tote with me everywhere to make it seem more fun.

Any other tips you have for breaking out of the rut I’m in?

You could always drink seltzer water and add spark or flavoring to it to increase your water intake. Or just get flavored seltzer water. I love carbonation, but hate diet or sugary sodas, so that’s what I do.
I would also change up your workouts. Changing the scenery can do wonders.

A close friend lost 150 pounds over the course of a year. She did it entirely through a diet created by her doctor. I remember her telling me that every meal she ate vegetables first, in order to fill up on those. She also ate no refined/processed food, like cereal, crackers. Also, no sugar. Her “treat” a few times a week was a Yasso yogurt bar. I can email her diet to you if you’d like.

You may want to look into Trim Healthy Mama. Many of my friends were on it and I finally got desperate and very tentatively started it loosely. I started losing pretty much right away and lost 30 total over 4 months.

It is similar to what you lost on Nutrisystem, but the foods are very healthy and no processed bars, etc. but still totally doable and not expensive. There are some extra things to buy as optional, which I did buy some of, but things you can get at walmart (almond flour, stevia, coconut oil, etc).

I just love that it has nothing to do with counting calories at all and you can eat plenty! So many people recommend it who struggled with Weight Watchers and other “diet” programs. The basic premise is a protein with every meal/snack and either good carbs OR good fats, but not mixing carbs and fats together in the same meal. Also no sugar, which has tons of health benefits on its own.

I was completely, entirely addicted to sugar and never in a million years thought I could go without it, but lo and behold, I am not addicted anymore!!! I can actually just eat one brownie every once in a while and not the entire pan! There are lots of good stevia-sweetened sweets that are “on plan”. Anyway, maybe worth a look. They sell the book to explain diet (easy read) and the cookbook (must have!) on Amazon.

I also love seltzer water. With a little bit of lime juice, or with an included natural flavor, I feel like I’m getting a soda, but it’s just water. You’ve got lots of fans rooting for you! You can do this!

I’ve lost weight EVERY day for the last 3 weeks. How? By simply cutting back. I eat ANYthing I want. Just not all in one day. Lol. The beauty is that I CAN do this for the rest of my life. Meaning once I’m at my goal weight I can keep eating the way I have been. I just get to eat a little bit more.

Love your perseverance! You go, girl. This post inspired me with the water. I always aspire to drink it, but I go to my coffee instead. I am going to track my water for a week and see if it helps and makes a difference. Thanks.

Oh the frustration of that plateau…I sat on the same number for a month one time and cried and cried because I was doing the same thing…eating less and working my tail off. I read a book about it and he said sometimes that’s the problem because our bodies get used to it. So I changed it up a litrle. I went off my diet. I didn’t go crazy but ate what I wanted for one day and went back to my plan the next day. I also changed up my exercise routine as you said and bam! The scale slowly started moving again. And remember you are building up muscle as well and it weighs more than fat so if your clothes are fitting more loosely then don’t go so much by the scale although I know it’s hard not to. I’ve been can cycling for a while now and have lost 18 lbs and my 16 year old son came to me last week and said Mom I wanna do this diet thing with you. That was my biggest reward ever! :)

I get really bored with water so I went over to bed bath and beyond and bought an infuser pitcher. The center has a tube that runs all the way down that u fill with fruit. It has small holes that go all down the tub to release flavor. You then add the water and it takes on the taste of the fruit. I like that instead of the liquid drops that add flavor to your water. If you like pineapple then I’ve found adding that to my pitcher makes some yummy refreshing water!

I love to put a slice of lemon and/or lime in my water bottle . . just enough to give it some flavor. Also, Isagenix has been my go to super healthy, clean eating, whole food, natural, convenient way to maintain and lose weight. Truly it has changed my life!!!
