Weekly Weigh In

We are almost one week into our November Diet Bet, and I hope it’s helping everyone else with motivation as much as it is me.  I had a great week focusing on getting back into a routine with working out and trying to watch portion sizes.

While the scale didn’t move much (half a pound down) getting back into working out after almost a month break has already given me more energy and focus.  My husband makes fun of me, but I am a much more bubbly, happy person when I’ve exercised (he is the exact opposite and turns into a grump afterwards).

This week we are aiming for running 4 times.  Our race is set for November 22nd, so we have to step it up to be semi-ready in time.  I’m running with my twin 11 year olds, and we haven’t done a race in almost two years… so odds are we aren’t winning any medals.  We are however getting in shape together and enjoying some fun mama-daughter time.

My other goal this week is water, lots and lots of water!  I tend to want flavor, but for budget sake stopped buying the Bai drinks that I enjoyed this spring.  So I’m trying adding essential oils to my water to help with taste.  So far I’m loving peppermint and lemon.

Do you have any favorite drinks that are no calorie but also don’t have artificial sweeteners (they give me headaches)?  I will take any recommendations you have!

      La Croix water

We love the True Lemon packets in our water. Our Sam’s carries them in a 400 ct box for around $5.

I like cucumber water, it’s very refreshing. I also like to peel strips of lemon zest and a crush a little piece of ginger, add those to a pitcher of water and put in the fridge overnight. MMMmmmmm

    • Mel

We love the Bai drinks too….but they are rough on the wallet. Cucumber and lemon/lime in water is my favorite, but also I like to use the celestial seasonings teabags to flavor my water and you can add Skinny Girl Stevia liquid if you want to sweeten it up. No calories or art. sweeteners!

I love the True Lemonade packets- I think each one has 5 calories, though I stretch mine passed a single serving by using one packet in 32oz of water. I love every single flavor! I also love the Bai drinks, but you’re right, they certainly aren’t cheap. They are not an every day drink for me, and I don’t buy them unless I can get them at least half off. The La Croix drinks are ok when I add liquid stevia to them. Occasionally I will have a Zevia soft drink, but I don’t crave Coke very much at all anymore (finally!), so don’t need those much.

Make sure when using essential oils that you use a glass bottle rather than a plastic bottle since they can break down plastic. Just putting slices of lemon, lime, or oranges in water is great too.
