I get so aggravated with WD's BOGO deals.  It looks as if they increases the prices on things then sell them BOGO.  I mean really…..when haveyou EVER seen 8ct. Pop Tarts for $4.99?????

      • Luci

I was wondering why things were posted with 2 prices. It's been a long day, but good day with small kids. Too tired to think.

        • price for 2 followed by the price per item… if you are talking about the BOGO deals as I think you are.

          • Luci

            Yes

      • Tyler

Lol yea most of the time when it's items that I know the regular price for it's way over. Then they want to say you can't use coupons on the free items to compensate for the already overpriced item.  Just one more reason why I love Publix's 50% off B1G1 deals.

        • Bri

You can use coupons on the free items as long as you use it before you scan your reward card.

      • Melissa

I agree — that's why I rarely shop at WD!!!

      • Jessica

SERIOUSLY!!!!! They were 3 for $5 here a few weeks ago!! Makes me sick.

        • Leigh

8 ct. Pop Tarts are $2.69 at my store and BOGO this week…so $1.34 per box.  The add always states the higher priced item, when it groups more than one item in the ad.

      • tygirl13

If you LOOK at the ad, the pop tarts are grouped with the Kelloggs cereal and the savings listed is “up to 4.99”.  I would be willing to bet that the 4.99 price is for the Kelloggs and the Pop Tarts are much cheaper.  WD does not jack up their prices for BOGOs.  Take it from someone who is there A LOT.  Are they generally overpriced? Well sure, but that is why you have to be smart, shop the sales, and do your own homework.  Solely relying on a blog for price points rather than taking the time to look the ad up yourself leads to missed opportunities and looking foolish in the checkout line with “but the blog said…” as your only defense.

        • You are absolutely correct. W/D oftentimes groups things together and calls them BOGO. Sometimes, you have to buy 2 of the same item and other times you can mix them up and get the lesser item for free.

        • Sh3737

this blog is a great tool to help match sales and coupons, but prices and sales vary by area. Get a paper on wed, and look over the ad before you go. Many times there are deals listed on here that are not good in my area, and I often find deals in my local store that are not in other areas.
          http://www.winndixie.com/
click weekly grocery ad’s and enter your location. You can see the actual sale ad for your store.

        • md

That's nice if you have the time but for those of us who work a lot or are in professional schools it's hard to do.  Having time to look at a blog like this is our only option, guess we'll look foolish.

          • tygirl13

I wasn't intending to be jerk about this, but I have been doing this for over a year and have found that it is totally worth my time to do a quick check on the store's website of the actual ad.  I just finished grad school, working full time at the same time, so I understand time constraints.  I really need to save money and get only the best deals, so that means I make sure to cover all my bases to make sure I don't miss any opportunities.  (avoiding looking foolish in the check out line is just a bonus…)

          • Sporksoma

It takes 10 minutes to look at the ad.  I have 3 kids, including a toddler and a newborn and a home to take care of full time and I can still take 10 minutes to look at the ad on Wednesdays.  I also go to school, btw.

      • Lindsey

Agreed, I find Winn Dixie's prices so marked up to begin with that even with the sales I rarely see any prices good enough to make a trip.

      • Stacie

Agree with tygirl13. This will not be the price for pop tarts in the store, I assure you. That is an “up to” price, max amount for all items listed together in that piece of the ad. They do not raise their prices for BOGOs but they are usually more expensive than Publix on most things.

      • Shuffman3737

Many items a are sold at a “sale price” the majority of the time, however when it it put on BOGO sale, it is at regular price not the sale price. Example: the current price for the Kraft Homestyle Macaroni and Cheese is $2. This is a sale price. The last time they were on sale BOGO it was at the regular price of $2.50. (At the time we had $1 Q's which made them .25 each.) When the item is placed on BOGO it goes from sale price to regular price. While it would be great for us if they combined the sale price with the BOGO, they are in business to make money, and can't give everything away. Sometimes the BOGO deals are a good deal, and sometimes they aren't great.

      • I totally agree. A couple weeks ago their hellmans may was on sale BOGO with one being 5.29. BUT they forgot to take the original price sticker down that said 2.64. So basically the double the price and mark it BOGO its insane! and a ripoff!

        • tygirl13

What size was this?  The only time that mayo is 2.64 in my area is if you get one of the tiny containers.  I have noticed that WD will sometimes put the larger sizes on BOGO.  I remember once they had cereal BOGO and the price was $5 or $6 a box.  People were freaking out about WD increasing its prices for BOGO, but the price was for a 24 oz box (about 2x the size of a normal box).  When you calculated the unit price, it was actually a really good deal.

      • Mrs. L

I agree…. I never see any good deals at Winn Dixie …  I find there prices much more expensive then Publix and rarely do they have any good deals as there prices are inflated with the BOGO's.

      • Joe

Just look at the Ocean Spray Juice.  Both them and Publix are BOGO but WD is $2.00 more

      • HJR

the Poptarts are not $4.99 in the store, my store has them for just $2.69 BOGO!

    • julies

I dont think that the kids compleats are a match to the upcoming sale – they are 7 oz not 10 oz like the regular Hormel compleats.

      • Xjenniferrellx

They do not, I was there this morning, Th .75 off do though! And it makes for a great deal!!

    • Don't think that the chicken leg quarters are a sale. The regular price for the 10lb bag of leg quarters at Winn-Dixie is $0.89/lb. If you live in Orlando or South Florida, you can get them for $0.39/lb at Sedano's. You can get a max of 2 bags with a $10 purchase, which for my store, includes the price of the meat. Just be careful about using internet coupons. The last time I tried, I was told they didn't take them. They usually have good produce prices (sale and non-sale), so that's how I get up to $10.

    • I actually prefer Winn-Dixie in this area as it's generally less expensive than Publix. Just like any place, you can get good deals if you watch the sales and match coupons. I got 4 CoverGirl B1G1 Naturelux Lipsticks yesterday for $.89/ea and 2 CoverGirl TruConcealer for $.75/ea.

Were these on clearance by chance?  My store has some covergirl on clearance and I have been wondering if it would be BOGO too…

    • Compleats do not include the kids ones.

Also the WD Flyer was wrong concerning the ground beef… it is just the patties on sale… they had a sign apologizing for the mistake :(

There is a $1.50/1 softscrub on there website

    • Ggatorss

I cannot find anything in the ad about getting $5 off when you buy $50 on gift cards.  What is the source for this sale?

      • Emma

Its in my ad, citrus county FL, 10th page bottom right under household section.

        • Ggatorss

Thank you.  You are lucky.  My ad only has the fuel perks incentive.

      • Iggynbren

In Bay county Fl, we get a bonus .10 cents on fuel perks for every 50.00 spent on gift cards.

I love the Lynn Haven store, they are so super nice.

      At my WD there is a tear-off Q for $1.50 off 2 Dole salad blends . . .exp 6/30

      • tygirl13

        found it! thanks

    • Hmitchell18

To those of you that hate WD so much and are convinced that they jack up prices before making a product BOGO, just don't go there, and please stop venting here about it.  I read these comments to see if any additional deals have been found (i.e. Lori's post about finding a tear-off with a Q for $1.50 off 2 Dole salad blends).  HOWEVER, I am sickened when I have to scroll through those of you that only want to bash a store for #1 offering a discounted price while #2 still attempting to make money in order to stay in business!!!  And if you think that Publix does not do the same increase of a price prior to a BOGO sale, you are only fooling yourself.

To Lori and Joe, thanks for the tip regarding the Q's you found both in store and on their website :)

      • tygirl13

AMEN!!  The comments used to be full of people trying to help each other find coupons, new deals, or helpful hints.  Lately it seems like more and more people do nothing but complain…

        • Amy

I have noticed that too, I hope it will get better. In the meantime, I have something I wanted to share with you but I don't know how to contact you …

We have no choice but to shop Winn-Dixie in my town.  The only other place is Wal-Mart, but I still come out better at WD after their B1G1 and FuelPerks offers.  I appreciate all the help given about this store, some blogs don't have it listed at all!

    • Couponcrazy2011

Several people have posted concerning the Pop-tarts and the price listed. I checked the price today at my central Alabama Winn-Dixie and the Pop-tarts were BOGO @ $2.99. So $1.50 each without any Q. Not too bad.

      • HJR

Poptarts at my store were only $2.69 BOGO and I am in Central Alabama also.

For everyone who's complaining about 'jacked-up' BOGO prices and for everyone who's replying that the complainers don't have the right to complain, let me give you all a little eye-opener. For this scenario, I'll use a 24 pk. of bottled waters. It costs the manufacturer $.03 (no, that's not a misprint – I didn't mean $.30 or $3.00 – I meant $.03) to manufacture that ENTIRE 24 pk. of bottled waters. The manufacturer then sells that 24 pk. of bottled waters @ wholesale cost to the grocery store for a 300% profit or $.12. The grocer then sells it to us, the consumers, at a retail price of $3.99 (reg. price) or a 3229% profit!!!!!!! Therefore, equipped with this information, I have no choice but to agree with the complainers and disagree with the people that say they don't have the right to complain because the store has to make a profit too. THEY ARE! AN INSANE AMOUNT OF PROFIT! …….And, that's my $.02. (Which, when I tack on 3229% profit, my $.02 is actually worth $.665 so, I'll round up and make it an even $.67.) HTH. :D

      • Guest

So, you know for a fact that every 24 pk of water sold is marked up by a 3229% profit by every grocery store, not likely.  But, it is even less likely to think that every item in a grocery store is marked up by that amount, especially given the number of grocery stores that have either completely gone out of business or gone bankrupt forcing stores to close in rural areas where they might not be the making as much as a more metro area.  If that scenario were the case they would be rolling in the dough regardless of their location, because it sure wouldn't take many shoppers for them to always make a profit.

      • tygirl13

That is because they are a business and are trying to make a profit.  If you don't like a business because of its practices then don't buy from it – that's the beauty of a free market society.  BTW, the issue has been whether or not WD is jacking its prices up for BOGOs and, according to you, their prices are outrageous all the time.  This makes me wonder why – if there prices are so unreasonable – you bother checking their sale prices.  I would think it wouldn't be worth your time…

Also, a lot more goes into a case of water than just actually making it.  It has to be transported, people have to be paid to unload and stock, and then there is all of the overhead required to provide a store for it be sold out of (insurance, utilities, etc…).  It is very misleading to leave out this information.  if WD was making so much money then they wouldn't have had to file bankruptcy in 2005.

Bottom line, this is supposed to be a blog about couponing and helping each other save money in a brutal economy – not constantly complaining about something that we can't control.  If you don't like the price don't buy it – if enough people don't buy it at that price, then they will lower it (maybe even clearance so that it will be a money maker with a coupon).

In the spirit of helping each other rather than arguing back and forth about something that we have no direct power to change….

My RP 5/15 has a $2 off Gillette BW that goes nicely with the BOGO coupon in the last P&G for the BW that is on sale for 2.99.  HTH.

Can you load so Dixie cards with coupons like you see on extreme couponing?

    • Charmed4674
