Zaycon foodsZaycon Foods has opened their Fall Chicken Sale early! The Sales events themselves are still about (3) months away in most regions, but you and your family can place an order now to ensure that you get as much chicken as you need. You’ll also have plenty of time to decide which event works best for your schedule, plus it helps Zaycon to plan ahead and to add inventory to regions that sell out!

They are offering a 40 lb case for $73.60 ($1.84 lb). This chicken is fresh, never frozen, boneless, skinless all-natural chicken breast. I recommend going in on this with another family or (2) just to ensure you have enough room and use for 40 pounds of chicken.

You’ll pick up your chicken directly from the butcher and will need to be split up before freezing,  so have freezer bags or a Food Saver on hand to make it easier.

Go ahead and place your order, and learn about all the great products they have to offer, depending on your region.

Just ordered mine how do you guys store it?

      • hazybuck

I depends on how many people you have in your home / how many you cook for on a regular basis. The breasts are LARGE!
I usually store 70% in 2/bag, with 20% in 1/bag (marked with sharpie), and 10% cut into strips (marked in sharpie).
This provides a nice variety for meal times.
        HTH!

With just 2 of us at home, I would have to share this order with several others. Just price matched the Pig’s price ($1.88/pound) at Walmart this week for 5 pounds.

      • hazybuck

I see what you mean – it would take two people quite a while to go through this much chicken. However, the difference in quality is quite substantial!

Wish they wouldn’t charge your card till you pickup, I’m not paying for this now when I can’t get any use for 3 months. Just did the beef order and went smooth.

Charlotte Harris Teeters have boneless skinless chicken breast for $1.99 everyday in the fresh meat/seafood counter (not the packs of pre-packaged chicken). So you can buy exactly how much you need.

I did not like the quality of the chicken I got last time in my order, it came in huge breasts that were kind of fatty and slimy. The ground beef was great though.

    • Amy

Plan to spend a couple of hours preparing your chicken for freezing when it arrives. They are -huge- double breasts that have not been trimmed at all, so you’ll need to invest some time in cutting off the fat and sinew before portioning and freezing. I think when all was said and done I had roughly 5+ pounds of trimmings to throw away. As far as quality goes – I think it’s fine. Because the breasts are larger they aren’t as tender but the are a good value for the price.

The last shipment was a FLUKE. Truly, the quality is usually MUCH, MUCH better!
Per my conversation with the customer service manager, they used a processer that they will not be using again. The chicken I received was NOT the chicken I have EVER received from them in the past – this was my third shipment.
This past shipment was so out of the ordinary that I requested that they credit me for half of my order (which they did).
It normally takes me about 45 minutes to bag up the chicken – and that’s if I’m doing it by myself. If my husband is helping, it takes me about 20-30 minutes.
I just placed another order, and trust that the quality will be back to what I expect.

I also didn’t care for the quality of the chicken on my last order, contacted them, and they credited me for over half of my order! This was the third time I’ve ordered chicken from them – and I must say the other two orders were SUPERB quality and I’ve never had better chicken, ever!
I just placed another order and used the credit and feel certain that the quality will be right back up where I expect it to be!!

I am planning on ordering with a few other families. I have not been to an event but have tried the chicken before. Does anyone know if you can split the order where you pick it up,or is it best to take it home nd divide it there?

      • Jessica

You need to split it up at home (we’ve bought from them several times). They have the pickup fast and convenient for you (you drive up and they load it your trunk for you, you don’t even have to get out of your car), but with no way to split it up.
