Amazon: Free Prime Trial!!

How does free shipping for the entire holiday season sound??

Amazon is offering a FREE Trial of their Prime Membership again.  This gives you free 2 day shipping on many items they sell!!  The trial a month long, but that’s prefect to get all our holiday shopping done.

As soon as you sign up you can go into your account and select not to upgrade.  You’ll still get your month of free shipping and have no worries about paying any membership fee after the month is over.

Three other fun things to note:

  1. You get free shipping with no order minimum required.  So buy a $2 duck if you want.
  2. You can add 4 other family members to your account so that others enjoy free shipping too!
  3. Your free shipping works to send the items anywhere in the US.  You don’t have to just send things to your house.

A big warning though 2 day shipping is addictive and you are going to start thinking every other online retailer is incredibly slow!!

(If you have already done a trial of prime it may not let you try it again…)

I used this promotion last year and did almost ALL of my holiday shopping on amazon.com. It’s very easy to cancel your membership. It’s a definite plus!

    • Sregis0628

It looks like it is going to charge my card 79 dollars….it isn't is it?

    • Elizabeth Clark

I don't see where it says in my account not to upgrade. I want to make sure I am not charged after the trial period. Can you help me find it?

      • Julie

        Canceling a Free Trial

Go to the Manage Your Prime Membership page and click “do not upgrade.” You'll continue to enjoy your Amazon Prime benefits until your free trial period is over. Then your membership will automatically cancel. Your credit card will not be charged.

        • Tonyareid

where do you see “do not upgrade”? i am not seeing that as an option anywhere on the page.

    • Thecastelfamily

I got the Amazon prime free with the mom club a while back :0) I LOVE IT and it is addicting!!!!

    • Kelly

you are soooo right about the 2-day shipping being addictive! That made me laugh!

    • akbishop1

Thank you so much for this post! I just signed up and followed your instructions. I'll now be getting free 2 day shipping throught December 23rd!

    • Carrie

Just wanted to let you guys know that if you are a student, you can get a free student account on Amazon that gives you free 2 day shipping (no minimum purchase) and a $3.99 per item upgrade for 1 day shipping. You need a school email address (@edu) to register.

      • Monica

        Yes, thank you!

    • Terri

Sign up for Amazon mom and get the free Prime membership for three months. That can continue for up to a year if you spend $25 a month on baby stuff. The best part, really, is that it doesn't have the automatic renewal thing where you have to cancel or you will be charged. This is for any caregiver of a small child, not just moms.

    • Monica

      Yay, thanks Carrie!!

I was able to sign up as a student and it's absolutely free. They didn't even ask for a credit card number. And now I get free two day shipping with no minimum order.

      • Kelley

is the student one only for a month also? Do I need to cancel the trial or anything? Thanks for the info- being a grad school with little extra money, this will help! :)

        • Monica

I believe it's fora full year. And you don't enter a credit card number or anything so I'm not sure how they would charge you in the future? I would read the fine print just to double check :)

    • Ginger

Do I have to buy something now to sign up? Because I input my email and password, selected the free trialo, and it says “Thank you- you'll complete your free trial sign-up at checkout.” I don't really need to buy anything right now.

      • maconchip

It should hang out in your shopping cart until you decide to make a purchase.

        • Ginger

          Thank you. :)

    • Ctcjsbag5

You can sign up as a caretaker for a child or a student and receive Prime for free! It is great for new mom's because they have excellent deals on diapers, wipes, etc., but you don't have to be a mom…just a caretaker or family member. I have been doing some major shopping today with free shipping.

    • Jane

So you don't have to cancel it before it is over? They won't automatically charge you the $79.00?

      • Dianna

Yes, you have to cancel before it is over. Just write down the date you signed up and make sure you cancel before the 30 days are up. It is really easy.

      • crystalfawn

Be careful…I don't know if its because I did a free trial once before but it charged my credit card immediately. I went to view my credit card online and checked my pending charges and sure enough there was a $79.00 Amazon charge!!!!

        • Carrie

I think you can still cancel your membership and Amazon will prorate the charges.

      • maconchip

If you go into your account and click on “Manage my Prime Membership” you can go ahead and cancel the renewal and still have access to the trial for the whole month. I signed up for the trial today and have already gone in and canceled the upgrade. I also added my mom and my husband to the account so we can all get free shipping!
