You have to buy a $5 min to get the penny deals at staples.

      • But if you buy the paper for the rebate, you've more than covered it, so it works out okay.

    • Heidi_Foster

Awesome! Thanks, Jenny! I'll just check off the items that match my kids supply lists and off we'll go shopping. This is great!

    • Missthemister

I got those .25 composition books at Target and I found 2 packs of glue sticks for .20, as well. Thanks for posting these!

    • FLZephyr

What an awesome resource! Thank you!!!

    • Lee

This is fantastic! Thanks Jenny. I like the printable option.

    • Jennylovessummertime

World Market has a great insulated lunch bag with strap (important for teens who sling everything over their shoulder and don't want handles) , AND a steel water bottle for only $9.99. Also you get a really cool reusable shopping bag (eat, pray, love) with a ten dollar purchase this week!

    • kristin

      Thank You! This is GREAT!!

    • Amy

You are awesome!! Thank you! I went to Walgreens and they had NOTHING marked down on the shelves, but my items rang up at the advertised price. I guess they are not going to make it easy for people to just walk in off the streets and know if they are getting a great deal. It definitely pays to do your research. Thank you so much for helping us to do that.

    • Sarah

This is soo helpful!!! Thank you soo much!!!

    • ann

Thank you so much for doing this. I was just thinking how much I really do not want to start buying school supplies and how overwhelming it will be finding the best price. You have saved the day!!

    • Redqtgirl

My Target had 2 pk of elmer's school glue sticks for $0.25. I needed 10 in all, so $1.25 was way cheaper than the larger pack.

Target also, 24 pack crayola crayons for $0.25… I needed 4- and I got all 4 for $1.00!

    • Candace

Walmart and Target both have wirebound 1 subject notebooks for $0.15.

      • DD

        Thank you…on the list.

    • Arielles

I went to Target to day for non-school items and the Catalina machine printed up a $5 off a $25 school supply purchase that doesn't expire until 9/6/10. Thought this might be helpful!

    • Caroline

      I like it printable!

    • Shannon

FYI, just found out that Staples' teacher appreciation day is July 31st.

      • Zmama24

what do they do for teachers?

        • Just me

Usually a goodie bag of samples and coupons

          • Brandy

And usually some sort of snack, like donuts and coffee, and our Staples also does door prizes.

    • Dixiesc

      You are fantastic Jenny!

    • Music88teach

      Love it printable!! Thanks.

    • givemefall

    • Jess7199

Thanks for posting this!! Walmart also has Crayola 10-pk markers for $1, Crayola 8-pk washable markers for $2, and Crayola 12-pk colored pencils are $1. The Elmer's 2-pk glue sticks and 4oz school glue are .25 cents.

    • DD

Thank you. I am new to southernsavers and I'm really impressed. Thank you for being a blessing to others. DD

    • Amanda

This is a great resource for money-lacking teacher like me. Thanks!

    • Love, love, love the printable list!! Thanks so much for helping make our lives a bit easier! :)

    • Rachel797

In past years I have been able to get more than the limit on supplies at Staples simply by asking if teachers could.

      • NCangel

Don't forget the Staples deals ends on Wednesday.

        • Wicc_ed

Darn, wish I would have seen this thread 12 hrs ago!, Oh well, at least the items over 1cents are still available.

      • Kim

They are not a generous as they have been in the past. Limit of 25 folders and only extras on the pencils and paper. Not on anything else.

    • redteapot

Jenny, thank you so much for this!!! This helps me sooooo much. I like to budget all of my school supplies and curriculum purchases throughout the summer months. This saves me dropping a wallop of $$$ all at once and with your list, it makes it soo much easier to get the best prices. I love this site. Thanks from a home school mom of twins.

    • AndreaC

Love this! Thanks for making it printable it helps so much!

    • Did you want to include the CVS items too? child 5″ scissors are free (99 cents each & receive 99 cents ECB, limit 1) as are the blue or black ballpoint pens (limit 1).

      • sonyapell

I think that was a 3 day sale only that ended yesterday.

        • Kim

But I think the scissors are still 99 cents which is a good deal. The scissors are nice!

          • sonyapell

I've got 2 rainchecks for them, if my store ever gets them back in stock. :) We love new scissors.

            • Kim

I am on the hunt for pink ones…still need 2 more! I have been to 4 CVS stores. I like to have all my baskets in my classroom color coded.

    • Danielle

I have middle school band students that go thru the clear page protectors faster than I can find them on sale. Our Dollar Tree (Chattanooga, TN) has packs of 25 for $1. I stocked up since they are usually $7 or $8 per 100 anywhere else!

    • KNC

Don't forget to purchase some of the items for donations to children's homes and school supply drives.

      • If anyone is in Simpsonville SC, Westside Church is collecting items for Operation Christmas Child. We would love any and all donations for the shoe boxes. The phone # to the church is 864-963-7262 if anyone would like more info. We are trying to do 1200 shoe boxes by Sept 11 to celebrate our church's 20 anniversary.

        • I picked up some Crayola crayons from Publix for my Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes earlier this week. Such a great, great charity. Good luck reaching your goal!

    • Mom_4_Him

Thank you Jenny!!! We finish our year on the 31st of July and start our new year on August 1st. I was just thinking that I need to get shopping!!! BTW, love it printable!!!!! Thank you from this Homeschool Mom of many!!

    • Juliesandlin

This is great, but please remember that the first weekend in August is a tax-free weekend for Alabama. Not sure about other states, but you might want to wait until then to do the majority of your shopping.

      • Rita

It's been my experience that the week that is tax free weekend is the week for no good sales on school supplies, just like the week school starts. I save a lot more money by buying it on any other week besides that one. Or at least that is the way it's been around here. I'm in SC. I did not step foot in a store on tax free weekend and only paid around $3 for ALL of my daughters school supplies last year.

      • Danielle

My husband saw on the news that Georgia isn't going to have the tax free weekend this year, but Tennessee is (we live near near the state line so we can go either way). I've found that unless it's a big item – it takes too much time and energy to deal with the crowds. If we buy whats on sale each week in July, by August we're set for the whole year.

    • Lbmelcher

Teachers can buy up to 25 one cent items (folders and pencils this week) if they have a Staples Teacher Rewards card or a teacher id. ;o)

    • Shelly

Thank you sooo much for doing this!!!!

    • S_Carolina_Girl

Staples has 1-subject notebooks for $0.25 each

    • Tonyareid

      Hey All,

      Just a heads up…

The Crayola markers and the Sharpie highlighters are on BOGO…therefore the price in half what is listed on Jenny's post.

      • Tonyareid

I neglected to tell you I was refering to Publix.

        Thanks Jenny!!!!!!!

    • Crystal

Hi! Kmart has 150 sheets of notebook paper (wide or college ruled and limited to 10 packs) for 50 cents each. They also have pocket and prong folders (limit 10) for 10 cents each. A pack of 36 pencils was 1.00. At Staples you can use your ink return rewards to buy supplies. I like the printable list you have here.

    • 3monkeysmom

The Dollar Tree carries kid's Fiskars scissors :-)

    • Melanie

      Love the printable list! Thanks!

    • Laurel

You are so awesome!! I definitely love the printable!! My husband and I are always asking,”When does she have time to do all this?” Thank you so much for all you do!

    • Wicc_ed

Don't forget the 3 prong folders at Walgreens for .09 cents.

    • DianneT

Publix has the Fiskars scissors BOGO, two packs @ $2.49. Thanks for this list!

    • Lacrider

According to the weekly ad, the 1 cent sale items at Staples ended on Wed.

    • Momof3

I appreciate you doing this…it will help so much…thank you!!!

    • Lopezm1225

wow, thanks for all this work….i really need it this year! You are a blessing!

    • Danielle

I've been buying my kid's backpacks at Land's End. They have a lifetime guarantee. The zipper breaks or it tears, just send it back and they'll send you a new one. I know that they are expensive, but my daughter has been using her's for 3 years!

      • Dej3784

I completely understand your take on that. . my parents bought me an LLBean when I was in high school and it lasted through that and 2 trrips out of the country and college. I just send it back last year for a replacement with no problem. :) So what my son is getting when he starts school next year. Kindergarten here makes them cute little tote bags.

    • Jenny love this!! The printable list is great. That way you just select what you need and is the best price.

    • Jenniferfrangella

Jenny, I also love the printable list. I am a teacher and this is so helpful. Thanks for all you do.

    • couponmommie23

just an FYI some of the staples offers are sunday thru wed only…..

    • Emily

For the Office Depot Print Artist Gold 23 software, the website states that the price is $29.99 and the rebate is only for $20.00. How can you get that for free?

      • Marina115

there was a coupon that came out $10 off $25 I think. She's calculating using the store coupon as well. HTH

        • Emily

          Thanks! I appreciate your help:)

    • Maria

Thanks Jenny. I like your printable list.

    • Lana

I LOVE it when you make any of your lists “printable”! :-) Thanks for your TONS of hard work!

    • helpmesave

If anyone sees a good deal on clear backpacks, please share. Our school system only allows clear or mesh. Last year Target had none. They were $10 at Walmart but it has a hole and it's almost as big as my 6 yr old.

    • Dana Mann

This is fantastic, thank you! I'm buying a backpack of goodies for a local seven year old in need and this will be a huge help today. Thanks for all you do.

    • Thanks for making this printable. The United Way in Gainesville, Georgia is asking for donations of school supplies and this list will help me gather up some good stuff at the lowest price possible. We don't have school-age children, so this type of shopping is new to me. Thanks again!
