For anyone in the Upstate SC area that has had constant Bloom triples, it is reported that your fun is over.  Starting today these stores are no longer tripling.

Some have learned the hard way by being told as they unloaded groceries at the register, so I hope this little note saves some frustration.

    • Kandrea

Boo…I wondered about this after seeing the new weekly circular. I hope they will still offer triples once a month or so. It was awesome while it lasted!!!

    • Lori B.

Yep. It’s true. I did my last triples run yesterday. It’s so sad. Guess I’ll shop Publix mostly now. (Thanks for the wonderful shopping list by the way!)

    • Ashley

The two Krogers in Bellevue TN started triples today. I believe it runs through next Tuesday but am not postive

    • Mandy

Yeah, happened to me last night. I was soooo mad. I guess my Bloom started early. Luckily I didn’t have much but still…

    • All good things must come to an end….

Whoever made up that stupid saying anyway????? Grrrrrrrr….

    • Andrea

I think the cashiers will be happy. Many of them were not happy about the triples and the rush of shoppers on Wednesday mornings. Now they can go back to having a quiet, semi-emtpy store. I enjoyed the triples while they were available, but its back to Publix for me!

      • Andrea

Oops, I meant to say empty :-)

    • oh well, I guess we won’t be shopping at Blooms anymore. Way too expensive. The only reason we went there was because of the triple coupons. I really wish they would have given some type of notice. I would have liked to use those last .75 cent coupons.

    • I am sad to hear it is stopping but it was a great thing while it lasted!!! Back to Publix for me too!

      • DE

heard from a couple sources that something will be coming to replace triples, if so it will be very nice !!! *fingers crossed*

    • Sarah

thanks Jenny for letting us know. I would have been quite irritated if I had driven all the way over there…

    • de

heard from a couple sources something will be coming soon instead of triples – if so , it will be nice !! * fingers crossed *

      • Stacie

I asked a cashier yesterday if it was ending, and he told me they were taking a week off, and then back on triples after this week. Who knows, but one could only hope!

        • Melissa

I heard the same thing when I asked a cashier…he also said that starting in January 2010 they will start doubling coupons up to $1.99.

    • Ruth

Oh my. How I’d love to have the thrill of ‘triples’ for just one day at my Publix. My heart would just be fluttering…
      Hope springs eternal!

    • MRB

Heh, this Florida gal can’t feel too sorry for you. (j/k) None of the stores here double, let alone triple, including Publix! Even my Harvey’s doesn’t double.

For those of you in the Valdosta area, do the Publix there double coupons? I may be up that way in a few weeks for a day trip, and am wondering if doing my grocery shopping while I’m up there would be worth the effort.

    • Renee

I heard triples was still going to be offered once a month…so you are saying that it’s “OVER” totally?

      • Jenny

Just meaning that it’s over for right now after running for so long.

    • Ann

According to Bloom in Anderson, SC, triples ended because people were abusing it. Coming in with 20 coupons of the same item day in and day out and then being spotted selling the products at the local flea market. I hate to see the triples end, but I especially hate when people abuse coupons. That’s what makes us honest people get the look when we hand our coupons to the sales associate.

      • Morgan

What a disappointment that it was ended due to abuse. Although I can see why Bloom pulled the plug… the Seneca store had been absolutely destroyed yesterday by a group who came in and left with 11 carts full of freebies. I also hate to see people abuse coupons. Makes the rest of us look like criminals.

        • Stacie

I know what you mean- went in with 2 coupons for Dole pineapple (made it .25 each) and they were long gone- produce manager said people came in the first few days and bought 6 -10 pinapples each and wiped out the warehouse. I have a family of 9 (7 kids) and I was only going to buy 2. I would encourage all to be thankful for deals, and not crazy to raid the stores for tons of everything free.

          • keb2009

so 20 coupons huh. that means they had to have access to at least 10 computers on different networks to get the limit of 2 per system. or they are circumventing the system.

and selling them at the flea market? can’t be much profit in that. you figure that you don’t normally find coupons that are between .75 and .99 to triple so the most you’d get off per item is 2.25. so say you find 20 items that are exactly 2.25 you get out for free (highly doubtful though) with $45 worth of groceries. the flea markets charge for tables from $8-$10. so these people do all this to make $35? and thats if they can convince people to pay the same price for something that they can get at the store :)

            • Stacie

I don’t know about the 20 coupon thing, but I believe there were several deals out of the newspaper coupons that gave people freebies- you can order newspaper coupons in bulk. As for selling them at the fleamarket- who knows? If you get them free, and sell 10 for a buck at the stand you already have, maybe so. I only know what the produce manager at the anderson Bloom said about pineapple, and I only printed coupons from one of my 3 computers (I could have printed 6)! I don’t have time to go in a do my own matchups- if it isn’t here, I don’t do it- just heard about the pineapple from a friend!

            • Morgan

Keb2009- I believe the people doing the flea market scenario work together. In other words, 8-10 people come into the store and use 20 coupons each, then go to the flea market and share one table. Makes it much more profitable that way… Or at least that is what was implied by my cashier. Either way, it’s still wrong.

            • Ann

That’s exactly what he said same group of people come in everyday buying all the free or almost free items – some of them with food stamps – then going to the flea market and selling. Think about it, if you can get a pineapple for 25 cents, then sell it at the flea market for $2 (which is a deal), then you’ve made a lot of profit. And I have actually been in some small stores around the Anderson area that do not normally sell air freshners, and they are now selling AirWick and Glade air freshners. Makes you think they got the same free AirWicks most of us have gotten recently and they are now selling them for a few dollars.

It things like this that make couponers appear like criminals. When all I’m doing is trying to save money to help pay for the expensive things like diapers and baby wipes :)

          • Amanda

That makes me so angry… wish you were near me, you could have one of my two pineapples and some of my frosting, and cookie mix, and pasta too! Why can’t they limit it? you know, so many triples on an item, per customer card. oh yeah they don’t have cards… guess it would be too costly to start up a card program, which would raise prices, etc…

            • Pat

Bloom does have a customer card.

    • Teresa-QOCD

someone told me last week that triples would stop and they would begin doubling up to $2.00

      • Heather

I heard the same thing, kind of. lol. My cashier told me they were going to do super doubles up to $1.99 “in time for Thanksgiving”.

    • Aimee

Just saw Nov 4-10 Harris Teeter circular for Chesapeake. Triple coupons the whole week!

    • Gina

are Blooms and Harris Teeter the one in the same? Does this means HT is also stopping triples? I am in the TN area. :)
      Thanks- our triples started today.

    • Amanda

The same cashier, in Mauldin SC, who told me a day ahead that the next day was going to be the last day (how nice of him) also told me, when I asked, that they were starting doubles again in December… so for what that’s worth….

      • Amanda

sorry i meant to say starting triples again in Dec… but maybe he said doubles… i wasnt listening well (checking out with 2 small kids, lol)

        • Pat

I was told by another customer in Mauldin that they were going alternate between super doubles and triples.

    • Jenna

for those of you who are wondering about the multi coupon thing. i get multiple copies of newspapers and i use three computers for internet coupons. also, friends that also do the coupon thing will sometimes trade me coupons for free things that they do not want. but i have a family of four. so what i do first is get for my family and then get extra for the foodbank here in mauldin, sc. i think that if you are getting free stuff you should atleast share and not hoard like some couponers that i have meet. spread the blessing don’t hoard and certainly dont be a jerk about keeping all your coupons. for goodness sakes are you seriously going to need 12 wishbone dressings? just food for thought.

    • Joanna

I too am disappointed that they have stopped tripling but hoping it comes back at least occassionally or is replaced with something else. I would have liked some notice too, I was “spreading out” my coupons over time because I’d heard they’d do it until Christmas. However, I am always surprised when people say that Bloom is otherwise “too expensive”. They have great sales and I’ve done some comparisons with Bloom and BiLo on regular price items and there is little difference. So don’t give up on Bloom entirely! Besides, I love that little hand scanner….helps keep me on track!

    • tina

They are now in sc locations doing the super double 11/26 – 12/1. Hope this note helps someone!!
