There is a great program that encourages students to read called Book-It! The program is sponsored by Pizza Hut and has been around since I was a child (I have vivid memorys of putting stickers on my book-it button to earn my pizza).  One thing many folks don’t realize is the program is available for home schools too! Enrollment for the 2011-2012 school year has just opened, so now is the time to sign up. Anyone in Kindergarten through 6th grade can participate.

The program allows your child to earn a FREE personal pan pizza each month for six months when they meet their reading goals. The great thing about it though is that you determine what the reading goals are, so you can make it developmentally appropriate for your child. You can print off charts, reading lists, and certificates to help motivate your child to love reading along the way.

Just go here to register by September 1st. Book-It will send you all of the program materials and coupons you need.

(If your kiddo is in the public school system then their class teacher needs to register.)
