      Hi Jenny,
Your blog is great. Thanks for letting us know about the deals. What did you mean by “Here are the deal highlights for CVS starting Sunday (or Saturday afternoon at stores that are not 24hr)?” People are always lined up at 8AM on sunday before our one CVS in town opens. Is it possible to get the extra care bucks on Saturday afternoon?? I’d love to avoid the mad dash.

    • There is a printable .55 coupon for Sensodyne here http://us.sensodyne.com/Coupons.aspx

My husband has to use this toothpaste so it makes the ECB deal a little nicer :) hth

    • Jenny

      Kari –
If your store is not a 24 hour store then the store is set Saturday afternoon for sale and the ECB’s will print for both the current week and the next weeks deals. This is for week long deals, if there are ever deals for special days those are not set early. I don’t know about 24 hr stores at all but I shop at a non 24 hr store every Saturday and get the next week deals before the rush!!

    • Yay! I am looking forward to your grand plan for this week. :) You have been such a huge help to me. I am new to CVS and I now have $40 in ECB’s in my pocket! :)

    • monica

      your amazing

    • sharon

I asked at the 24hr store what time the sale starts and was told 11pm Saturday night

    • Mary

Has anyone had luck with the $3/15 everytime I got to my CVS and have one of these they won’t take it because it’s not from a booklet or through direct email?

I was just wondering if anyone else has this happen??

Also thanks for the tip … I’m going to try to work a deal this Sat. afternoon and see what happens. It would be great… I hate shopping with the coupon peronas!! Hahaha!!

    • Debbie

I went to CVS yesterday, and they already had the 50% sale going on CVS brands….one thing I did, and that you can do–print out TWO of the CVS $3 (brand) coupons.

Since your Grand Plan included TWO cotton swap CVS products, you can use two of those $3 coupons. Then, you can save your ECBs for something else.

Your total will still be $1.48, but I’m just thinking ahead of time that if your ECBs aren’t expiring soon, you may be able to apply them to something else later on when the $3 coupon isn’t good anymore!

Thanks for your grand plan. I was going to skip CVS this week, but now, I may take a second look! :)

    • Debbie

Jenny, I’m so confused. I was trying to figure out my own grand plan (if you go today, you can actually MAKE $1.02 on the toothpaste instead of breaking even [if the sales are in the register this afternoon]), but I’m getting a total of $6.49 for you instead of the $4.50.

Where am I missing the additional $2 you took off?

    • Debbie

…sorry, I know I’m being a pest, but also, you would have to buy the paper today to get tomorrow’s GF coupon, and if you bought the sale toothpaste today, you ALSO get 2 ECBs on each TUBE of toothpaste.

For tomorrow’s sale, you have to buy TWO tubes to get the toothpaste, so going early today also means you get two extra ECBs.

      Does that make sense?

    • Debbie

Here’s what I’m thinking you can do, if you wait and do it tonight/this afternoon and CVS carries the Sunday paper early, like the grocery stores do.

Grand Plan (and I hope I’m good here Jenny–you are the master)!!

      2, Colgate Total Advanced $2.99 (THIS weeks’s sale) ($6)
      1, GF $3 (NEXT week’s sale) ($3)
      2, Q-tips $3 (NEXT) ($3)
      2, Detergents (NEXT) $7.49 ($7.49)

      TOTAL = $19.49

      $3/15 ($3)
      2, CVS Brand coupons ($6)
      2, Colgate ($3)
      1, GF ($1, if I get it)
      2, All ($2)

      First TOTAL–$4.49
Then, add a filler (hopefully, the Sunday double paper–if not, gum or something to bring it over $5) ($2.50)
      Next Total–$6.99
      Minus–$5 ECBs

GRAND TOTAL–$1.99, which is LESS than what I would have paid for the paper at the grocery store anyway! :)

    • I just wanted to say thanks for the link to the whole ad. :)

    • Jamie

Can you use more than one of the $3 off a CVS product in one transaction AND the $3/$15?

    • Debbie

I don’t know about that, but you can use multiple $3 coupons for the CVS brand products. I did it yesterday on Children’s vitamins.

      $5.49 + $2.75 = $2.24 for two (minus the two, $3 coupons)

You know–I just read the coupon for the $15 deal, and it says it cannot be combined with other CVS coupons….

If the system will take it, then maybe it will be up to your cashier.
…and to boot, I just read the coupon I used 2x yesterday–it does say cannot be combined and one coupon per customer!

Wow! My cashier didn’t blink an eye just scanned them both. The register took them both, so I would say this is up to each individual cashier. JMHO….

    • Debbie

FYI girls–the All campaign is over, so no, $1 coupons from those two links.

    • Jenny

Thanks for finding my math error. I fixed it with your idea of using 2 CVS brand coupons.

    • Debbie

Sorry Jenny–I just noticed that you have asterisked the CVS coupon small print at the very top of your blog!

    • Debbie

…oops, I mean under your Grand Plan! (Sorry for all the posts today!)

    • Carole

Thanks for the $2.00 bayer coupon link. I also was able to print two more (for a total of four coupons) by going to wonderdrug.com.

    • laura

For those with little ones – here is my deal: 4 Infant tylenols (I have twins and we use A LOT of this stuff)= $22 – use one $4 off $20 (came by email) = $18 use 2 $2.50 off 2 tylenol q’s in Red Plum = $13 get $10 ECB for buying $20 of J&J products= $3 for 4 tylenols!!

    • East Cobb Mom

I went to my local CVS (not a 24 hour) today 1/3 at 5:15 pm and was told I could not purchase any of the 1/4 items until tomorrow. The clerk said “corporate” would not load the prices until 6pm. He was really, really rude. I ended up leaving everything and told him I would come back tomorrow.

    • susan

i tried printing the progresso coupon and was told i had to install the coupon printer. i just used it (bricks) earlier today. well i successfully installed (upgraded) it and tried to print the coupon, only to have it tell me again to install the coupon printer. i have tried several times. any suggestions?

    • Hey Jenny I saved 199 and spent only 5 bucks today.
By the way learned 2 things.
Clearanced L’oreal products (some are 75% off) do not count toward the buy one get one free CVS ad special this week.

Also you can’t use the CVS mailed coupon buy $25 of the following products (johnson, ept, stayfree, etc) get $5 off in conjunction with your basic $5 off $25 from the CVS scanner (I tried)
But the coupon does say Johnson Body products and that does mean Johnson Baby….

    • Linda

      Hi Jenny

CVS has the OneTouch Ultra Smart Blood Glucose Monitor on sale for $29.99 and there is a coupon for it in the 1/4/09 Redplum for $30. I used your great plan for this week and picked up the monitor for my grandmother for free. Thanks

    • Jill

I was planning on doing the J and J deal tomorrow and I was wondering if you can split it between two transactions and still get the ECBs?

Thanks for you blog!!! It is so helpful!!

    • Jenny

Yes you can split any transaction up!

    • katie

Jenny — Quick question. I have two CVS cards (one for my grandmother). So are the ECB’s interchangable? Can I use my ECB’s on her card?

    • Jenny

No you can’t use the ECB’s from one card on the other card. They have the last few digits of the card number they are tied with on them and the computer will beep and say “not the right card”.

    • Lisa

This is an amazing site. I am new to the CVS ECB and I love it…..

    • Tracey

      Great shopping trip at CVS!!
2 Loreal masacara tubes (BIGI) 2-2.00 coupons
1 CVS brand nail polish remover (50% off)
1 CVS brand fabric softener sheets 80 ct. (3.00 CVS brand coupon)
2 bottles of ALL detergent (BIGI) 2-1.50 coupons
Use my ECB from a prior purchase.
      total out of pocket: 2.03
Thanks for all your great work!

    • Lisa

On the $3 off $15 coupon, how many times could I use that?

    • laura

I got caught in the same Progresso loop…it has happened to me with other coupons before – I think you just have to give up and try to find another link. There is another link for the soup but I don’t think the coupon is the same value.

    • susan

thanks laura. the other coupons have lower values. and it has happened to me before.

    • Colleen

I was wondering if the limit 3 for the toothpaste was 3 tubes, or 3 sets of 2 for 5 (6 tubes). Limit 3 tubes would leave an odd number with the potential for only 2ECBs not 4.

    • Jenny

The limit is 3 of the deal, so a total of 6 tubes. It does get confusing though.

    • Sara

I think I should mention what I just discovered!
Haven’t gone to do it yet but some of you may have the same coupons that I do. (got them from trading so don’t know what paper they came in)

StayFree maxi pads are 2/$9 and are part of the J&J deal, buy $20 get 10 ECBs.
I am gonna get 4 packs of pads and whatever liners I need to fill with to reach $20.
Use 2 $2 off 2 coupons on the maxis.
Use 2 b1g1f coupons on the Maxis.
      And use the printable 3/15.

I figure that my total will be about $4 and I am gonna get back $10 ECBs.
So money maker on the MAXI PADS LADIES!!!

    • Joy

So, I went to CVS today and bought the ALL detergent (w/ coupons), Loreal makeup (w/coupons), and the glucose monitors (w/coupons). My subtoatal was 8.14, but my taxd @ 9.25% was 5.92!!! So, do I have to pay tax on the things I had coupons for!?? I saved $130 and only spent 14.10 (including tax)…I was pretty excited, but bummed when I saw that I paid $5.92 in tax on $8.14. Is it like that with all stores or just CVS?
Also at Kroger today my shortcuts cottonelle coupon didn’t come off…is there something I can do about that?

    • Jenny

Wow 9.25% tax, I am liking our 7% more and more! The issue with tax is whether the cashier hits the sub total tax button before your coupons or after coupons (I had a CVS cashier teach me this one) If they hit it before coupons then you do pay tax on the full value, if they hit it after then you pay tax on what is left of your bill. Legally I don’t know what they are supposed to do but many if they like you will hit it after your coupons. Some states do require it to be before coupons, I’m not a sales tax expert though. That’s a great savings though.

    • Jenny

Oh and your shortcuts e coupon, you can contact shortcuts through their site and they should put a credit back on your card.

    • Brandi

I went to 2 CVS stores yesterday to take advantage of this weeks deals. I got 3 of the free glucose monitors as well as lots of other goodies. I used the $3 coupon off of a $15 purchase and my $3 coupon off of any CVS brand. I paid for most of my sales tax. Yes we still have to pay tax on the items that were free with coupons. It varies by state. Where I live in Oklahoma we have a 10.75% tax on everything. In Texas, food is not taxable, so you would pay tax on anything that was not considered a food product, but no tax on your food items.
