I have been saving my free coupon for the Olay anti aging eye roller for something just like this…whoohoo

      • Sue

Do you remember where you got that? I thought I had one but can not locate it. Thanks

    • Beth

Hi, I’m very new at this and can’t wait to try it can you please tell me what PG after some of the red print means, where do I find these coupons? Is there any good semi organized statigy for starting to collect coupons? I wish you were giving a seminar in NJ. Thanks, Beth

      • Becky

Beth, Jenny has a self-tutorial on couponing. Just follow the link at the top of the page that says, “If you are visiting for the first time go here to get started.” on the RIGHT hand side, right below the bold Welcome to Southern Savers. That should help you get organized.

The PG is coupon language for the P&G insert we get in some Sunday newspapers (usually at the first of every month). The numbers behind it tell you which month and day (11/22 would be Nov. 22 insert).

You will get the hang of it very soon. Hope that helps. :)

        • Beth

          Thanks Becky!!!

    • PTCMom

On the Gillette deal idea, can I use both the “Free Body Wash When You Buy Deodorant” and the deodorant coupon? I thought that the first was for both products. Therefore, I could only use one or the other. Thanks for helping.

      • meghan

You can use both coupons for the Gillette. The Free body wash coupon is for the body wash, you just must by the deoderant in order to validate it. And the $1 off can be used for your deoderant.

        • Shiloh Kennedy

I have tried to do that numerous times but I am never allowed. I am told that the Buy this and Get that free Q covers both items. I will explain the way you said it the next time and maybe they’ll let me. Thanks Meghan !!

          • Sue

I had one CVS do that to me with the CG deal a while back. Now I frequent 2 OTHER CVS’s. Never have a problem.

    • Mitch

Im actually very excited for this ad ;-) I can finally use my coupons for 100% FREE Accu-Check Aviva Meters! I don’t need them but will keep the ECBs and send them on up to my grandparents and other family members who do suffer from Diabetes.

If anyone’s wondering, as opposed to the $10 off (1) one Accu-Check meter coupon, there are coupon booklets at Kroger by the pharmacy with a coupon for a FREE Accu-Check meter. Its a manufaturers coupon but does say Only for use at Kroger. I highly doubt CVS will care as the manufacturer should reimburse any company who sells the product. I sent in pictures of this coupon booklet a while ago but I dont think they ever got posted ?
      Good luck guys!

      • PTCMom

Mitch, after reading your comment, I checked out my K pharmacy and found the coupon. Hope that my CVS will allow it! Thanks.

    • kelli

does anyone know if the limits have really changed on some of the black friday sales? I’ve heard that the degree is limit 2 now and the colgate 360 is limi4.

      • Stella

Degree is limit 2. I did it today (Saturday).

        • kelli

thanks for the response! I might have to go back today and get some more.

          • kelli

for anyone who’s still going to go shopping tonight.. I confirmed, degree limit is 2, colgate 360 is 4.

    • meghan

I”m so stinkin’ excited about the Gillette deal!!! I have been waiting on a good deal to get my hubby some cheap deoderant, and now he’ll get body wash too =).

I just started CVSing on Thursday (Thanksgiving) and I’m glad I started then!! WooHoo!!!

Thanks Jenny for all of your help!!!!

      • Shiloh Kennedy

Me too !!! I have lots of Gillette Q’s and my hubby will be excited to get something that I have always refused to buy in the past because of the cost !!!

    • meghan

There is a $2 printable Clearasil coupon here: http://www.pimples.com/promos/#

      Friends & Family 30% Off Coupon……..

……my favorite CVS cashier gave me a coupon today that is good on 12/5 and 12/6, it is a one time use for 30% off all regular priced merchandise.

    • Beth

I just started CVS’ing today and purchased $59.66 worth of product for $11.28 and I still have $5.00 ecb left. I’m so excited!! It took 9 transactions but it was great!! Does anyone know if there is an additional fee for the prepaid american express gift cards, if there isn’t that would be a real no brainer!! Beth

      • carol

Unfortunately, there are always activation fees on the prepaid Visa and American Express Cards, usually $3.95 or 4.95 per card. (no fees on giftcards to specific restaurants or retail stores.)

    • Snellmom

I got a $5 of $15 coupon printed with my ECB’s from my deals today, which will go nicely with some of these deals (especially the Gillette)! I was also able to get rainchecks for three of the items that they were out of stock on. Guess I’ll be making another trip tomorrow or Monday.
      Thank you!

    • katie in VA

Can we use two $2/off coupons for the B1G1 Revlon? I have been wondering if CVS honors (2) coupons when they offer B1G1 deals…

      • KC in GA

Yes! CVS will allow both $2.00 coupons on BIGI free Revlon. I did it yesterday!

        • Cynthia

It must depend on which CVS you’re at, because I’ve tried that in the past, and they wouldn’t do it.

    • John

In your Gillette deals, you mention the deodorant is around 2.99.
According to cvs.com, the cheapest deodorant is 4.49. Most of the deodorant is 5.49. Where is the 2.99 from?

      • Jenny

Do you mean the Body Wash? I have the Deodorant around $4.99. The Body Wash price is only because the is the high value of the free coupon and is probably the high value that CVS will also charge.

    • Kelly

I was so excited to take my Mom into CVS today to show her all the savings she was missing. She wanted to get the GPS unit they had on sale for $69.99 for my Dad for Christmas. I told her if she was going to spend that much money, she might as well get the same amount of product for free and then redeem the ECB’s she accumulated for the GPS. After purchasing the products, we had 9 ECB’s to redeem totaling about $40. However, when we tried to redeem them, the cashier told us we could only use 1 ECB and that we would have to purchase 8 filler items to use the remaining ECB’s. What? She referred to the ECB’s as coupons and accused us of stacking them, which was illegal. Obviously, with my Mom there, I was mortified. We ended up getting 8 33 cent caramels for fillers to use the ECB’s. I thought you could use as many ECB’s as you wanted in one transaction. I know you can only use 1 CVS coupon, i.e. from Reinventing Beauty magazine, per transaction, but I didn’t know ECB’s were considered coupons and I have been doing this CVS shopping thing for almost a year and never ran into this problem. Thoughts?

      • Teresa-QOCD

never ran into that either. Sorry for your mom. I bought a $75 gift card for myself and they emailed me a $15 FREE gift card, printed it off immediately after purchase and got the GPS. Didnt use ECBs, so it cost me, but I still have about $21 ECBs and $15 gift card (paper).

      • PTCMom

Kelly, I have ran into your issue, too. Number of items has to at least equal or exceed number of Q’s. That is one of the reason Jenny has filler items list in her “Deal Ideas.” The other reason to use filler items is to avoid a negative balance.

I have ran into this at Publix when store + manufacturer Q’s exceeded the number of items purchased.

BTW, excellent strategy to help your mom stretch her dollar!

      • Melissa

I shopped CVS today and used all the ECBs I wanted. I never heard of needing filler items to use ECBs. You have to when you RRs at Walgreens, but not at CVS, unless it’s something very, very new.
You need to call or write Corp. and ask for verification, and if that cashier is wrong then he/she needs to be trained right!

      • just me

I’ve NEVER had that problem (Sumter, SC), even with the rude CVS cashiers I get sometimes. When I went yesterday, I used several small amount ECBs to pay. I’d ask for a manager if that happens again.

      • Dale

She must have been an ex Walgreen’s employee…got mixed up with ECB’s and RR’s. Never had this problem at my CVS…

    • Janet

The Olay Pro-X products are much cheaper at Walmart even with the $5 ECB CVS offers.

At Rite Aid you can get a Gilette Fusion razor free this week using their $5 SCR and the $4 CPN in this Sunday’s paper.

    • Meghan

QUESTION!! The Gillette coupons state One Coupon Per Purchase.

Does this mean I can only use 1 coupon per transaction or 1 coupon per each item I am purchasing?????

I am wanting to get 3 or 4 of the deoderants and the body wash. So my question is, do I have to do that many seperate transactions or can I do them all in 1 and still use 1 coupon for each item??

      PLEASE HELP =)

      • Jenny

one per purchase is one per item purchased, so you are good.

      • kelli

“one per purchase” means one per item purchase

“one per customer” or “one per transaction” means that you can only use one at a time

    • Mitch

Thank God CVS has the ECB program because they are honestly the most over-priced store I have ever encountered, lol.

Since my $10 ECBS expired today without me using them (as usual) Ill be going in with nothing tomorrow.

I am buying two Accu Check Meters at $14.99/ea and using (2) FREE Accu Check Meter manufacturer coupons from Roche pharmaceuticals and getting the $10 ECB’s from that transaction. In my second transaction I will purchase the Conair trimmer at $19.99 and use (1) $5 off any purchase of $15 or more CVS coupon that printed on my prescription receipt today, and also (1) $5 off Conair trimmer coupon; I will pay the remaining balance of $10 or $11 with Transaction #1’s ECB’s.

With the remaining $5 ECB’s from transaction #2 I plan on concocting some deal with the Febreze products since I am running low.

      • kelli

Most stores will allow you to use ecbs for a few days after their expiration date. You should ask, worst they can say it no.

      • Tina

Mitch, CVS would not let me use the free Accu because the coupon clearly states (which I over looked) that you must also purchase the strips that go with the meter, which are very expensive ($80-$100.00).

        • Amy

I was gonna post that I just ran to kroger to get the coupon but it does say u need to buy the strips – booo! Oh well, there are other coupons in that book I will use.

    • sarah

I went to my CVS last night, there were these red certificate which says “2X DOUBLE YOUR EXTRA BUCKS!”.
Does anyone know anything about this?????

    • Rhonda

Jenny, This site has helped me so much and I’m learning every day. My biggest learning curve is how to put together my own scenarios in Drug Stores so my out of pocket at the register is low. I’m getting the deals but my out of pocket remains high and I walk away with lots of ECBs or RRs. I think some of my problem is just getting overwhelmed in the store and having the line of customers back up against me. I bet I spent two hours in CVS yesterday. My time is valuable as well, especially when I’m clipping and organizing my coupons to leave the house. I really need to learn how to work my own “small” deals. I also use The Grocery Game and find it very helpful and a great timesaver. My binder is up to date and loaded. Any tips for a tutorial or workshop specifically in the area of “putting together the deals” would be helpful.

I’ve been couponing since the end of September. My stockpile is building beautifully, my grocery bill is going down, and I have great meals consistently. I just wish I could have started a long time ago! Thanks for all you do! I visit this site everyday and find wonderful values with each visit.

      • kelli

I’ve been couponing since April/May and it took me a little while to get the hang out things. My CVS totals used to be pretty high compared to now. I never used to work out my deals, I’d just go get what I wanted and pay with whatever ECBs I had, then I’d pay the rest oop. My totals were usually a few at $2-$3 each time. Now I’ve gotten the hang of things and I usually pay tax and very little else. You’ll get the hang of things. The scenarios that Jenny plans out are really helpful.

    • Gnat

1st time @ CVS and it was a blast!!! I’ve been saving/collecting coupons since 11-1-09 and decided that today was the day.

I followed the deal of buying the gillette series and some make-up.

Thanks for everyones input but I’d like to also request that you don’t suggest to skip this sunday’s inserts b/c people are getting started everyday and we need to encourage people to get in the habit of buying the paper for the q’s for that week..

Continue to save and gettin’ better

    • Beth

Can someone please tell me how to get the $4.00 of $20.00 etc.. coupons. Thanks

      • Lisa Balfour

I am very new to this, but I think I can answer this. There are two ways:
        1) They will sometimes print after you make a purchase. It will be at the bottom of your receipt. Not every purchase will give you one.

        2) There is a coupon kiosk in the store. When you scan your Extra care card, it will print a miscellaneous coupon. Sometimes it is a lame coupon, but often it is a $ off $20 or something like that.

        Hope this helps!

      • kelli

Also, there are sometimes quizzes on the CVS website that will give you a $$/$$ coupon. And if you add your email to your extra care card, you should get $$/$$ coupons in your email, although I haven’t gotten any of those in email for more than 2 months.

    • Lisa Balfour

I went in today for the Gillette deal, and I ran into a little problem. Even though I spent over $25 on Gillette products, the register did not give me the $10 in ECBs. The manager came over and said that it was because I did not purchase the exact products in the picture in the ad. She said that you cannot just purchase any combination of those products in the amount of $25, but that it has to be exactly as shown in the picture. They ended manually printing me the $10 in ECBs as a courtesy. Does this make sense to anyone? Has anyone else run into this problem; or has anyone been able to go in and do your own combination of those products and still get your $10 ECBs? Thanks!

      • Jennifer

I had the same problem, the shave gel did not count (according to the reigster and my recipt) although it had a shelf tag and the ad says ALL Gillette shaving products! I had a BIG runaround but walked out with $10 in ECB. I guess there must be a error in inputing somewhere, but that is not our fault, they wanted me to just deal with it, but I would not. I either wanted the deal as the ad stated or my money, ECB’s that I used on the order, and my coupons back and they said I could not do that! I would not have purchased any of these products if not be the ECB’s!

        • Lisa Balfour

Thanks, Jennifer! Hate that that happened to you, too, but I am glad that they made it right. They were not going to make it right for me, either, until I told them to just return everything and give me back all my coupons. They decided that was too much trouble and just gave me my $10 in ECBs! At the end of the day, as long as we get our great savings, I guess it’s worth it!

    • Meghan

I went in this morning and got 4 Gillette deoderants and 4 body washesfor a total of $4.96 before taxes OOP!!! Yay!!! This is only my 2nd ever trip CVSing and I love it!!!

      • kelli

great job! I’m hopefully going to make it over to cvs today to get the gillette deal. I just hope that my fiance will use the stuff. :)

        • Nelanie

I just got home from CVS. I did the exact deal that Jenny posted and I had some ECB’s to use. I purchased all the Gillette products for $2.51 OOP and got the $10.00 ECB’s. The cashier said the total was $.48 and the register wouldn’t take ECB on the tax. Thank you Jenny for all of your help with saving money!! As with most family’s, my family has suffered a significant loss of income due to the economy, but it hasn’t been so hard since I found your site!

    • kelli

I just got home from CVS. I bought 3 Gillette deodorants and 3 Gillette body washes. I also bought a 50 cent filler so that I could use mostly ECBs and not lose much.

I used a $5/$30 (which didn’t scan/work but they pushed it through), (3) $1 off Gillette deodorant, and (3) buy Gillette deodorant, get Gillette body wash free coupons and $8.99 ECBs. I spent $1.60 in tax and got back $10 ECBs.

    • My deal at CVS tonight:
Bought 3 Gilette Body Washes at 4.99 ea.
Bought 2 Gilette Dedorants at 5.49 ea.

Used 2 Q’s for free body washes when you buy dedorant
      Used 3 1.00 Q’s
      Used $12.00 in ECB’s

Total was .97 tax 1.56 for total OOP….$2.53.
PLUS $10 in ECB’s for my next trip.

IDEA: I am making gift bags for nieces and nephews for Christmas and these items will go great in the bags. I am using the shopping bags from all the stores I shop at and they are really getting a lot of stuff for nearly nothing OOP and they will have a bag to use for their future shopping trips.

      Great trip to CVS!!

I didn`t have time to read all the comments, so I don`t know if anyone mentioned this before.
But in my CVS (Moncks corner,sc) there is a red booklet that says extra holiday savings (or something like that) and there is a voucher for getting 4ECB when you spend 20. I combined it with my 5 off 25. some ECBs and other coupons…made my day!! :-)
Jenny, you are the reason why everything is so clear and going so well with the savings. Thank you, thank you!!!

BTW- They’ve Long since fixed whatever problem there was with the quiz coupon, I’ve been useing them for a few weeks now w/no prob w/ diff. barcodes from diff. computers. Just an FYI.

how are you getting coupons that work from the quiz? I printed off 2 yesterday, different bar codes, neither of them would scan and when entered manually, they both said “invalid code.”

well I totally bombed at CVS today. I was going to go and get the $20 worth of M and M’s. So I bought 21 of them at what was listed at .89 cents each. Once I finished with everything at the register it turns out that they were on sale for .67 cents each so I missed the $5 ECB by $5.00! sigh
Now I have a zillion bags of M and M’s.

      • You know you can still buy the rest on another transaction. Your extra care card will add up the amounts so when you get to $20 in total for the week, the ECB will print out!

Chris thank you…I didn’t know that

          • Becky

well sadly that didn’t work either. I went back today and bought 10 more bags which would of made up my $20 and it still didn’t give me a coupon. I don’t think I can figure out the CVS things all that well

    • I did not read every comment, so if this is a repeat, I apologize, but I was at the CVS on Butler Rd in Mauldin a little while ago to get contact solution for my hubby who is completely out. It was POURING down rain and I decided to go to the closest store, even though I knew I could get it free at Rite-Aid or Walgreens… I was VERY pleasantly surprised to see that it was also FREE at CVS! It is on sale for 9.99. I used my 1.00 coupon and I got ECB’s for 9.99!!! There was a sign in front of it, but they had a shelf full of it, so I’m thinking maybe it was not advertised in their paper. I have not looked. Thought I’d share the wealth!!! Now when it stops raining, I’ll go to Rite Aid and Walgreens and get some more!!!

I bought 1 box of Nyquil today. $4.99 – $1.50 coupon – $.50 store coupon – $2.99 ECBs (adjusted from $3) = $0 oop, no tax on meds in my state.

I’m going to go buy another one tomorrow so that I can use another 50 cent store coupon, so I will have used $6 ECBs and earned $4! only $1 each, yay!

In the CVS december 2009 clipfree coupon book on the front page it has 9.99 ECB wyb Complete Multi-purpose solution 12oz for 9.99. Is this a repeat of the same product from last week for 8.99? I can’t find it listed in any of the entries above. I haven’t tried to buy it yet, it says limit 1.

Check your email. I got $3 off $15 and my husband got $5 off $30. Both expire Sunday.

I currently work at CVS. If you know of any employees at CVS, we were given (6) 30% off coupons to hand out to our friends and family for December 5th and December 6th. It applies to all products in the store except for Milk and Prescriptions, and items that were previously marked down. For those of you doing the Gilette deal, you could save a heck of a lot of money on Saturday by using it… and getting 30% off!

CVS has a new coupon in a red book that is behind the counter. It gives you 4.00 extra ECB when you purchase 20.00 or more. I used one on Sat the 28th.

Last minute coupon find…in my Swiffer Kit that i purchased several months ago there are coupons for $2 off any 1 wet mopping refill and $2 off any 1 dry sweeping refill and $2 off a kit…so if you have a kit you purchased previously you may want to check inside for coupons!!

If CVS did not have enough of the Gilette products (deo & body wash) to reach my 25.00 for the ECB’s and they gave me a rain check for the remainder is that when I get the $10 ECB’s?
