These deals all start Sunday 2/13 at CVS. I’m excited my favorite toothpaste is FREE this week, plus a few other good deals. If you need diapers don’t miss the deal on Huggies.

One random deal you might be interested in:

Buy any Green Dot Prepaid Visa or Mastercard ($4.95 activation fee) get a $10 credit loaded onto to the card when you use it to make a purchase at CVS by March 18th.

You could grab one of these and use it for only CVS purchases. Play a game with yourself to see how long you can make a $15 gift card last by planning your scenarios out. (This is exactly what I did when I got started.)

    • kristenk

question – i am new to doing the ECB, and i tried it the first time this week. the cashier told me that the ECB do not print out on the receipt right away, and ECB right now will print out on a receipt in April… is this right, and do other stores do it differently? i don't feel that the deals are that great to have to wait 3 months to get my money. i live in north atlanta. thanks!!

      • Rudydoescakes

No they ALWAYS print right when you buy the deal. You can take your receipt back and the manager can print them up for you.

      • ToddDu

I think you were talking about different things. You will get 3% (I think) back on all your Extracare purchases in the form of ECBs. However, if you purchase an item that issues ECBs during that week it will absolutely print on the receipt

      • kristenk

hmmm i'll have to my receipt back and try… i think i got a terrible cashier, b/c i don't see where the ECB are on the receipt, and when i asked the cashier again, she said they'd just come off later when i used my shopper's card. thanks for the replies!

      • What did you buy? Did you use your Extra Care card?

    • Emilydianne808

no they print out on your receipt immediately.

    • Melanie

What do you do when you go to print a coupon Huggies pull ups) and it says you've already printed the coupon….and you haven't?

      • Rudydoescakes

        Go to the library

        • chuck

i tried the library, but they wont let you download the little program to be able to priont the coupons, unless there is a way around this?

      • This message usually means that the print limit has been reached on the coupon. It most likely is not available for print anywhere anymore.

    • Stinemetz C Coupon

the $1/2 honest tea coupon is expired..

      • Wdra0632

        CVS will take expired coupons.

        • artlady

Not all CVS stores will. That's all up to the manager.

    • MelRae

I guess we are really fortunate this time here in Nashville, because we got a $1.50 off any Colgate Sensitive coupon this past Sunday (2/6). That's a $3 MM for 2 tubes! Yay!

      • Zarate06

We got that coupon in a home mailer! Whoo-hoo!

      • CCShad

And it is $1/1 in 2/6 SS from Charleston, Sc paper

      • Hwyman422

I got one in a the SS Home Mailer in Atlanta! How awesome!

    • Willik

Neutrogena Suncare coupon link isnt working :(

    • MC

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have a few of the free excedrin coupons leftover. I know that the coupon says value up to $5.99, but could I buy 2 of the $6.99 bottles, use 2 coupons, pay the $1 difference between the coupon value and the retail value, and still get $3ECB?

      • Anneblankenship

Yep, it'll work. I did the same thing in early January. The ECB didn't print, but the cashier immediately printed one when I pointed it out.

      • Sis2

Or if you go to Rite Aid, use them there next week. 50 count bottle is 4.99 and you get 1 +up back.

        • Julie

Sis2 you rock! I didn’t see the RA deal and was going to do the CVS one…you just made me an extra dollar! Thanks!

          • Chajo53

thank you mc for asking the question cause i was wondering the same thing and thank you sis2 for the heads up on the rite aide deal!!
you guys are so helpful when trying to learn all this stuff!:)

    • LaurieinTN

I”m confused about the colgate offer. How does taking $1 off of something that is $3.79 make it Free + Profit. Am I misunderstanding something. Thanks.

      • CCShad

You pay 2.79 and get 3.79 in ECB

      • Tammy

Really, you are out of pocket the $2.79, but since you are getting $3.79 back, it is free.

      • LaurieinTN

never mind… figured it out.. didn't see the ecb

      • CBC99

It is free + profit because you pay $2.79 and they give you $3.79 back in ECB

      • Stephanie

This is after counting in the extra care bucks. It won't necessarily make it free this transaction, but it'll give you EB/money for the next transaction.

    • Tammy

Today I was in CVS and I got a $2 off of Exederin PM CVS Q from the red machine. Use a Man. Q for a good deal!

    • Wsult3

where do I get the $8 prilosec coupon? I'm new at this. How does spending $50 on Prilosec, getting the $25 rebate, $8 coupon, and $5 WYB make is $3.49 each. What am I missing? HELP!

      • Lindasewcrazy

        buying 2 gets 2 $5 ECB”s…So 49.98 – 25 -8-10= 6.98 divided by 2= 3.49.
        Hope this helps.

      • Diane

Beth look at the Prilosec entry. The 8.00/2 coupon is in PG insert 1/30. Jenny has a link for the printable mail in rebate for 25.00. Note you MUST purchase both Prilosec packages in the same transaction. You will receive 10.00 in extra care buck (ecb). 49.98-8.00=41.98-25.00 rebate=16.98-10.00ecb=6.98/2=3.49 each.

      • Tammytoe9312132

        2 prilosec at 24.99 each
        50-25 rebate = 25
        25-8 coupon =17
        17-5 ecb for 1 prilosec= 12
12-5 ecb for the other prilosec = 7
2 packages for 7 would be 3.49 each

      • Tammytoe9312132

        2 prilosec at 24.99 each
        50-25 rebate = 25
        25-8 coupon =17
        17-5 ecb for 1 prilosec= 12
12-5 ecb for the other prilosec = 7
2 packages for 7 would be 3.49 each

In case anybody is interested, I've been slowly collecting gobs of Vitamin water coupons at my local Walmart. They keep putting booklets of them out in the front of the store near a big water display. Don't know bout your area, but this is worth checking into. It makes CVS water 25cents this week. And another thing I found was a Diet Coke coupon book in a display box where the sodas are sold. It has a few different coupons in it. The one I”m most interested in was the Vitamin for 50 cents. It will double at Kroger when their water is $1 as it is this week. Just wanted to share.

      • Guest

So stop taking all the coupons . not very nice to other people.

        • Kristan

Well, first of all, I”m not taking all the coupons. I said I'm slowly collecting them, like over the last two months. Everytime I go in there, I grab a couple. Walmart told me just today take all you want, we have plenty. So, keep your opinion to yourself please. I'm very considerate of others, otherwise I would have grabbed the whole booklet. I guess I won't be posting anymore helpful tips. You just made me cry. I was just trying to help.

          • Lindasewcrazy

Kristan don't let some peoples opinion let you stop posting great ideas. I appreciate the idea and will look at walmart tonight. Some people are born cranky.

            • Kristan

Thank you. I guess I”m too sensitive, but it really upset me what she said to me. I went and told my husband I was just trying to help. I was so excited about what I found. Thanks again :-)

            • Rissa

Well, you made my night…I've been REALLY needing some vvitamin water coupons!! smile and laugh at the snarky person who posted that!

            • Twoods117

Keep it up, Kristan! It helps when someone gives suggestions, we are all here for the same reason and objective.

          • Amy B.

My motto is “There is no crying in couponing”… People can be overly defensive because there are lots of couponers who “smash & grab” meaning they take anything and everything in sight. A lot of people have knee jerk reactions and it might have been the word “gobs” that set this anonymous “Guest” off. Let's all show a little grace and consideration so we can share the deals that help our families!

          • Cindycberg

Thank you for your post, Kristan..it was very helpful. Sometimes people say things before they think. I knew what you meant:) I'm going out tomorrow to check my Wal-mart for the coupons. Have a wonderful day:)

          • Ginger

Hey, good for you for telling the not very nice anonymous person what to do with it. I get so tired of people having the attitude that everyone else who gets a deal is somehow taking something away from them. Them's the breaks, peeps! You win some, you lose some, and that's just how life works.
I'm sorry they made you cry, and hope you don't let someone else stop you from posting.

          • Adefazio11

Do not cry, do not cry you are saving money and being wise and considerate about it. Just do not cry, you are the wise one and hopefully so am I. And please post away, I need them and so do others, how else would I have known about the xtra blinky

          • Kcwandu2

Thanks for sharing the deal u saw, GUEST does not realize that u did not even have to share this tip with them ( do they even live by u, lol), U are a Guest (lol) here and u need to realize that there is def enough savings to go around ( which we all can agree on) and what I do not get this time wont hurt me. i will make it up in another area. I truly appreciate your tip b/c i am new to this couponing game and with ALL of your help I think i am moving up the latter very well. But i must say it is b/c of ppl like u who help me and have made me realize the deals that are out there, so dont cry smile b/c u have helped me.

      • mj

        Thanks for the tip! :)

      • itismedia

Thanks for the heads up. The only RUDE couponers are the ones that take all of the coupons/booklets/etc… like an undisciplined child in a candy store. It is perfectly acceptable to take a couple each trip. This gives others a chance to take some too. If after 5-7 days (or whatever) you go back and there are still some left it means A) take a couple more and B) stand there shocked that an ill-mannered person has not swept in and thought they were all for them!

Thanks for sharing. Please do not be upset, especially with someone who doesn't want anyone to know they are impolite (“Guest”). There are people out there that never share anything and want to keep tips, coupons, etc…all to themselves. I personally think that we are all in this together and should help each other out not try to one up each other by getting all of a great deal! Our ultimate goal is to provide for our families and while we are doing it, save money and have fun!

        • Smile2u72

Whatever you just mad because you didn't get any coupons

          • itismedia

Actually, I never said anything about not getting coupons or about being upset, but thanks for sharing your thoughts! Have a great day!

      • Bryarsmom

LOL-you reminded me of the Free Sobe deals last year.
We were cashing in on all the ones we got free from playing the flip the cap game on line.
Our family easily got over 100!

    • bibi

what do you mean by CVS coupon printer on these deals?

      • scass73

There is a red machine inside each CVS where you scan your card and store coupons print out. Generally they are near the entrance.

        • bibi

    • Maria

The Dollar General and Family Dollar has blinkies with coupons for $1 off Xtra

      • Kristanjeancrass

      • Gingercarter2

I'm not sure but I think you can only use those coupons on Xtra bought in Family Dollar. Please let me know if anybody has found out they can be used anywhere.

        • Ladymoon0121

I have used the coupons at CVS and worked fine.

    • Kristan

Yeah, I see what you mean. That's just my word. Ask my kids. I say gobs all the time…lol When I first saw those coupons one of my boys said, just get the whole thing and I said, Honey, there's other families out there just like us that would like to get a good deal, too. It's all about sharing.

    • Megan

Question about the L'Oreal ECB deal…There is a coupon for $5/2, and there is also a coupon for $2 any 1…could I not use the $5/2 and (2) $2/1 in the same transaction?? I've used this method before in grocery stores, but I know the coupon rules are a little different for drugstores.

      • Zarate06

If the $5/2 and the $2/1 are both manufacturer coupons, you could only use either one $5/2 OR two of the $2/1 when buying two items. There really shouldn't be any stores allowing more than one manufacturer coupon per item.

    • Happy Feet

I love the Toccoa Ga. CVS cashier! Stopped by there today traveling… locked my keys in the car.. not only did she call the police… she personally came out and protected the sun out of his eyes so he could unlock my car. Then, she proceded to help me with my couponing!!!! I wished I could move her to my CVS.

      • Deb

Wow! I hope you write a letter to CVS so she gets some props from people who could give her a raise!

      • Laura

There is one that works there that is AWESOME…and you can't have her cause she makes up for the ones that aren't so great! =)

    • MalsMom

Question…Since the limit on the colgate toothpaste is 2. Can you purchase one of them and then use the $3.79 ecbs you get back to purchase the second one and still get the second ecb?

      • Amy B.

    • Guest

Question…In the Larger Scenario above, would you make each of these transactions on separate trips or on the same trip to CVS. I was curious if they allowed the latter.

      • itismedia

Same trip. Just try to be thoughtful of others in line. If there is someone behind you, do two and then go to the back of the line and do the other two after others have had a chance to get out of there. HTH

    • Fallaya

I'm looking at doing one transaction this week…I'm not too gung-ho about CVS anymore. all I do is “roll” ECB's and it's getting boring. But this week I've found a few things I actually need:

      Pull Ups x 2
      Excederin X 2
      Clorox Bleach
      Xtra Detergent x 2
      Colgate Advanced X 2

      Subtotal: 45.18
      -5/25 coupon
      -$2 Pull Up
      -$2 Pull Up
-FREE Excederin (up to $5.99 value)
-FREE Excederin (up to $5.99 value)
      -$1 Colgate Advanced
      -$1 Colgate Advanced
      -13 ECB's

      Total due: $9.20
      Will receive a little under 13 ECB's (2.79, 2.79, 4, 3)

Not great, but not bad either.

      • Sarah

You could probably split it up into two transactions to get your oop lower. You only have to have an initial total of $25 on the first to use that coupon.

    • guest

Has anyone still seen the 10 oz Dove Visible BW in the Lex/Cola SC area???

      • Sandra

My CVS has been out of it for weeks and I don't think they are getting any more in. However, someone else posted that you can get the same thing at Walgreens for $2. My Walgreens had some near the perfume counter.

    • chan

Can't find $2 huggies coupon in SS 1/23, printables are gone. Anyone seen huggies coupons anywhere else….trying to stock up for a diaper-shower!? Thanks!

      • Kristan

Hey, I have (4) $2 huggies coupons that I would be happy to mail to you if you want them. Here’s my personal email kristanjeancrass@gmail.com and you can email me your address and I will put them in the mail tomorrow. I hate for them to go to waste when someone can use them.
But one thing I have found is I now buy diapers on amazon.com If you sign up for subscribe and save you can save a bundle on diapers and in parenting magazine they offer a 20% extra savings on top of that. Email me any questions you might have or if you want these, send me your address.

      • Dgailwhitt

I have $2 and $1.50 Huggies coupons which I can send you if you email me your mailing address to dgailwhitt@yahoo.com

      • We2ding

Try “Afullcup.com” they have printables-you must register and then search diapers.

    • CarrieG608

Hi – Is anyone else having a problem “deleting” the coupons from their printable shopping list? They are not showing up in pink anymore…

    • itismedia

Quick question – Has anyone used a “face make-up” coupon to buy eye make-up? I have a 5.00/2 L'Oreal Cosmetic Face Products. The eyes are one the face haha, but there is not a picture of eyeliner, eye shadow, etc…on the coupon. Thanks for your help in advance!

      • Linda

I have used the exact coupon at CVS for eye make-up to be exact it was for eyeshadow & it worked. I thought about it too & kept my fingers crossed at check out but it scanned just fine :)

        • itismedia

Thanks! I think I will try it too. I am a stickler for following coupon rules, but the eyes are on the face and that is what had me stumped. Thanks for letting me know it worked for you.

      • Marinka115

It really depends on your cashier. If you have a make-up savvy girl checking you out, you may not get away with it. :)

    • CarrieG608

I figured it out. User error :)

    • Dianne L

Does anyone know about that People Espanol magazine mentioned? What week would that have been? Is it still available? Thanks!

    • Hrosa66

Is $1.88 a good deal for Clorox Bleach? I really need it.

      • Erin

If you really need it its not bad. It seems like there was a $1 off Q printable somewhere last week. Usually the cheapest I see it is 3/5 which is slightly less than 1.88, but if you can get the bleach coupon, .88 is great.

      • Missyba

There “was” a $1 Clorox printable on Facebook if you like them. Not sure if it's still there but would make it only .88 for you.

        • Lori

          Facebook coupon is gone =(

      • Srhine85

I know you can get some Clorox Bleach at Walgreens this upcoming week for 39 cents. The Walgreens coupon in ad make it $1.39 and then using the $1/1 printable from Clorox's Facebook, you end up with 39 cent bleach.

    • Carriesaves

When making and ECB deal purchase and it says (LIMIT 1), does this mean limit 1 per transaction or limit 1 per cvs card. Could I buy this item once than get it again 5 minutes later in another transaction and get the ECB both times??? B/C i see more than 2 scenarios for the colgate toothepaste above and it says limit 2. just wondering, thanks.Im new to the ECB world.

      • Sam

it means 1 per cvs card

      • KA

jenny only has 2 colgate toothpastes, transactions 3 and 4. They are tracked by your card and you wont get the ECBs for any you purchase over the limit

    • JEB

This is a question about this week's sale. Feel like it's a math word problem. I have 3 BOGO free coupons for Hershey's. Candy bars are on sale for Buy 2 Get 1 free…How many bars do I get to make best use of the sale and coupons? How many do I take to the register? Are they going to harass me?

      • Laura

I tried it and you don't get any of them free and you waste your coupons.

        • ALYS

I tried it a few weeks ago and it worked. I guess it depends on which CVS/Cashier/Manager you use.

        • Lori

It should work….its their coupon policy.

        • Bryarsmom

          You are mistaken…sorry.

      • Kimberk42

I needed Hershey bars to make Smores, so I did this deal a week or so ago. Basically, you use one BOGO coupon for every CVS deal of Buy 2 Get 1 Free. So, you end up buying one for 89 cents and getting 2 free. If you want to use all three BOGO coupons, buy 9 bars total. You'll end up paying for 3 of them and getting the other 6 for free.

      • Cattyjenny

I did this yesterday–I bought 9 candy bars (ad says limit 9):
3 Reese's (coupon specified must buy reese's to get any other free)
        3 Skors
1 Special dark (coupon specified must buy special dark to get one free)
        2 Hershey's milk choc

        used (4) b1g1
paid for 2 bars, all the rest were free!

      • Vicki Garland

I never feel I am harrassed by asking questions about coupons at the counter. I have learned to shop on quiet times, such as Monday nites, some cashiers will scan to see if the coupons work, they seem to enjoy seeing us save money.

      • sc couponer

You buy 3 to make the buy 2, get one free work, then use 3 bogo coupons to get 3 more free. So, pay for 2, get 4 free. Did this same deal a while back and it was fun!

    • TContorno

Haven't the $2 coupons for the mouthwash and floss expired? They are from Sept. and Oct. of last year. I'm sure I've already tossed them out. Thanks for the info.

      • Alztimers

They expire 4/30/11. It pays to keep them.

    • Chaynesuga

Neutrogena printable q link is not working? I really want this q!

      • Amy F.

I wasn't able to get that one to work either… bummer! Does anyone have another link for a Neutrogena sunscreen coupon? Really needed this one..

    • Paytonr24

What is the P&G $110 booklet?

      • Luci

It's a booklet you request from Proctor and Gamble to be mailed to you. They recently had some to be given away from liking their Facebook page. Some are sent for responding to rebates and offers.

    • Jthornton

      will CVS take competitor coupons?

      • Missyba

Only Pharmacy..they won't take competitor coupons for anything else.

    • Teach_ashlee

I used to get a total $ off purchase coupon emailed to me from CVS every week but I haven't gotten one in weeks. Anyone else had that?

      • Sweety Pie32

I haven't received one in MONTHS…I've just about given up on CVS anyway…I'm liking Rite Aid a whole lot better these days!

    • Couponj

1/2 Honest Tea product, 16 fl oz printable coupon comes up as an expired PDF

      • Gamecockgirl

I saw that too. I, of course, printed it first but no big deal.

    • wendyc33

I dont know about anybody else, but I got a homemailer from p&g the other day in my mailbox for a free herball essence shampoo, and u dont have to buy one to get the free one., also a 1.00/1 coupon too. great homemailer to use this week. also recieved a cvs coupon for the schick razors, and ive waited on a sale, but nothing yet and it expires next week. bummer.

      • Srhine85

I got a home mailer for 3.00 off an Excedrin purchase. Unfortunately, the ECB deal isn't that great and I really don't want to pay anything for Excedrin because I already have so much of it.

        • Alison

I went and spent mine this week because they are on sale for $1.99. I used the $1 manufacturer coupon and the $3 CVS coupon and got some overage so I didn't have to pay out of pocket for a ton of other things. I also got another $2 off from the machine so I picked up an extra one. I don't really need any but it was a great money maker to make the whole deal come up free :) I hope that helps. If your store still has stock on the shelf, I suggest a trip before the new sale.

        • Mandi

I bought the Excedrin PM that was on sale for $1.99 and was able to use my $2.50 q from 12/5 and then use the $3.00 CVS mailer. They had to reduce the $2.50 down to $1.99 but I got to use the $3 for my makeup. $3 overage and free Excedrin is pretty good!

      • Luci

I got one of the Shick razors too. Plan to use it if it's in stock before it expires. Also got a birthday email from CVS with a $3 off next purchase. Fun!

        • Luci

PS Think mine says a free razor instead of $x amount off the purchase.

    • Chrystal_presley

i see the little symbol that says to stock up because its a great price…How can I stock up if there is a limit of 1 on the item?

      • carrie

I think in that case, Jenny means, make sure you get it, whatever the limit. Buying one at that price is better than paying full price.

      • Srhine85

Unfortunately, that is a drawback to CVS. The only other thing I might suggest is to get another card. I have one for me and one for my husband. I don't want to have to keep them separate, so I only use my husband's card if it a super great deal on diapers or something like that.

      • Gmaof376

I think the limit 1 means you only get the ECB's once. Not a limit of 1 purchase. Hope this helps.

      • Sarah

I take it as a stock up price, this is the type of priced item you don't want to miss. If you see this price again there or else where, buy it.

    • What does a Green Bag Tag do again?

      • Nevrsaydie1988

scan it everytime at checkout, every 4th scan it prints out $1 ECB on end of your receipt

      • Missyba

You also have to use your own shopping bag.

    • What does a Green Bag Tag do again?

    • Missyba

Does anyone know if the magazine “ALL YOU” has an issue every month?

      • angel

yes it does, and if you order a subscription through ebates you can get a good percentage of the price sent back to you in cash!

        • Missyba

          Thanks! :o)

      • Luci

Yes. But I think you can only purchase a stand copy in Walmart. Coupons in it can be used any place that accepts manufacturer's coupons,

      • Carole5355

Yes, it is a monthly mag.

    • I'm still learning all the ropes to the CVS deals. The ECB deal for Listerine and Reach is limit 2. Can I buy all the items in one transaction and get both ECB's?

      • Sarah

Yes, you will get one ECB printed for each deal for the full amount, if you did it in two transactions you would get separate ECBs for the individual amounts (which is what I usually do so they are in smaller amounts, easier to spend)

    • Peterson492

$1 off 2 Honest Tea coupon printable expired on 2/1/11. :(

      • Bryarsmom

Tearpads found in Publix on display good for several weeks.

      • LS

        just use (2) .50/1 :)

    • Raquel_m

      what does ECB means>???

      • Kristan

It's Extra Care Bucks that CVS gives you on different purchases each week. You can use them like cash towards your purchases. Look at your ad and it will list some items that you can buy and it will give you a certain ECB back. Hope this helps :-)

    • Siouxfan86

Just stopped to p/u the Colgate, no ECB's? Checked the flyer in NW GA, and it was not listed as having any ECB's associated with it.

      • TLT005

The add has not started yet .

      • Marinka115

The ad starts on Sunday. The non-24 hr stores start Saturday late afternoon.

        • new to coupons

My mother works at a CVS in Alabama. They technically have 2 sales going onat once. There sales really run a week and a half. This sale actually started on Wednesday the 9th. The sales prices are already in the registers. However the sales prices are not advertised in the store until Sunday, Feb. 13th. Also sometimes if you buy ECB items before Sunday, they will not print out until the advertised sale start date.

    • Tonicorum

ECB=Extra Care Bucks It's the coupons (like cash) they give you back at the register when you buy something and then you can turn around and use them on your next purchase.

    • Fallaya

Are we allowed to use a CVS BOGO coupon with a manufacturer BOGO coupon? I got a bogo coupon for Snickers from the red machine, and I combined it with a bogo coupon for Snickers I found in the Sunday paper. The cashier (who was the manager) said I could not use them at the same time because “the coupons are basically for the same thing, and you have to pay for at least one Snicker bar). I didn't budge, and she finally scanned the coupons and my total came to 14 cents. Am I wrong, or was SHE wrong? I want to make sure I'm not frauding CVS.

      • missy

at my CVS, I've always used a BOGO coupon along with a BOGO sale and have basically gotten the items for free.

        • Syndilew

I had this happen with the photobooks that they had on sale a while back. They were BOGO and then I had a BOGO coupon. The cashier refused to accept it. She was hung up on the fact that it stated that I had to buy one. I had to get on the telephone with her store manager and they didn't accept it until I told them the coupons would scan just fine but that if they didn't accept my coupons then I would leave them and they would be out the cost of ink and paper. This battle took about two hours by the way. It was ridiculous!!!

          • DonnaChas

I had this same “battle” at a CVS that I never had gone to before. I'm fairly new to the shopping CVS like Jenny suggests…I learned my lesson by not printing and having their coupon policy with me. After I finished two photobooks, my husband stood in line to pay. Poor guy, the cahier refused to take both coupons…she said the same thing that I needed to “buy” 1 and she also couldn't believe that we even WANTED to use both and “waste” it so I could get another book frre!!!…finally I went over and asked for the manager…He was so upset that using both would make it free…I explained that he would be getting the money for the coupon..still said No…He then called another Manager at home and came back and said “no.again” That's when I told hime that I was not paying for two PhotoBooks and that I would just call their corporate office to discuss this situation. Well, he didn't like that idea…and as he decided to take the coupons, but he mumbled to himself the whole time he was checking me out!!!

I'm sure I didn't handle this the way you folks that know the system CVS would have…What should have I done differently? Where do I find the Corporate phone number to call them if I ever need to?
Thanks so much for your help!!!

            • KA

i was able to use 2 BOGO coupons when the photo books were on sale and got 4 books, paid only tax. They didnt have a problem with it, just werent sure how to ring it up. It took about 4 cashiers and a manager discussing it to finally figure it out, but it worked.

      • Missyba

Missy is correct…you should get both items free.

I think the difference here is that you had 2 COUPONS that were B1G1 free. During a SALE where an item is B1G1 free, the cash register automatically rings up the discounted price; there is no store coupon that you have to scan. (If snickers had been on sale in the ad as B1G1 free, then you should have been able to use a B1G1 free coupon just fine). This time, however, you had a CVS B1G1 free coupon and a manufacturer’s B1G1 free coupon.

I am not sure on the correct answer to this, but I am not surprised that you ran into problems at the register. I actually have the same two coupons, and was wondering that myself… I think if I decide to use them, I’ll try to catch it on a 2/$1.00 sale, buy 3 snickers, and then get 3 for $.50. (the store gives you one free, the manufacturer gives you one free, and you still buy one).

      • Anonymous

        Both would be free.

    • Tara Pennington

Has a random question. For every 2 prescriptions that you get filled, you are supposed to get 1 ecb. It did not print on my receipt. Is that an ECB that comes out of the big red machine like the beauty club 5ecb and the quarterly ecbs?

Just curious. This was my first time getting scripts there, and just curious about how to get the ecbs for it.

      • twinmom

You can check your online account at CVS.com. They keep track of RXs and go into detail about when and how your get your EBC for them. One thing to note is that you do not get credit for any RXs that are paid for with government programs (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.). HTH!

      • Raynesmw

I have never gotten 1 ECB for every 2. I got three filled last week for myself and didn't get anything. 2 for my husband last night and nothing. I used to get them a lot for my prescriptions, but haven't in a whiile. I would like for this to be true, but not sure….

      • Pepper

You don't get the ECB's until the end of the quarter, there're in with your 2% back reward. I don't know how you can check it but they do keep track, it just doesn't print anywhere. You should get them first of April I think.

    • Can I use it?

I found a red machine coupon for $3 off $15 purchase, but it wasn't for my card. Can I use it? I haven't gotten one of those kinds of coupons for almost a year!! It looks like whomever got the coupon decided to discard it instead of use it.

      • Courtney

I think they are all linked to a specific card so probally not

        • Sb

Courtney is correct. The coupon is linked to the users card. The register will beep.

    • Murphy905

Can I shop today (the 12th) for the sales that start on the 13th?

      • jmr

      • Emily

If you have a 24 hour store, yes you can, once they put out the new ad signs for the next week. My store starts putting them out in the afternoon; some stores have a rule for after 6:00. The cashier I spoke with seemed annoyed that people do it, but they can't stop it, because they have to honor their signs that are out. Being a 24 hour store, they have to put them out when the store is open, so anyone who comes when they have the new ads up can get both the current week sales and the next week's sales. If you can, go on Saturday; I've gone at 7:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning and the good deals were already gone. Personally, I have started going to another CVS that is not a 24 hour store. I can get there before church, right at 8:00 when they open, and get all the deals I want.

      • Tasha

If your store isn't a 24 hour one you should be able to later this evening. I know that I can at several of the stores in my area.

      • Christy

I depends on the CVS. I go to my local CVS (not a 24 hr) on Saturday after 12:pm and am able to shop both ads :)

    • twinmom

How do I know that the store coupon printer will print the coupon I want (ie the $3 off cosmetics purchase in Jenny's example)?

      • Sb

You won't know until you scan your card. Keep scanning until it says there are no more coupons available.

      • AndysGirl

Actually, in the current ad that runs through today, it says on page 6 to stop by the extra care coupon center (red kiosk) to get your $3 off $10 cosmetic purchase, so it looks as though everyone gets this coupon. I'm assuming the expiration will run through the following week, since Jenny is using it in the scenario for the upcoming week. Sometimes it's just the luck of the draw, but other times CVS will advertise that a specific coupon is printing (probably to get you into the store.)

        • Alanakaye

Can I use the $3 off $10 coupon with a $5 off 2 Loreal CVS coupon on the Loreal?

          • Bamasaver

Yes, you can…the $3/$10 is a store Q & the $5/2 is a manuf. Q, so you can use them together.

    • RayaSunshine

I shop at the CVS on Hwy 90 in Lake City, FL. Yesterday, I wanted to make seperate transactions to utilize the ECB's that I would receive, the cashier very promptly told me that “YOU are only allowed to make one transaction per customer”, but she was going to do it this once. There wasn't a single person behind me, I was the only one in line, which is why I was going to do it in 3 transactions. I tried to kill her with kindness and told her I understood, I wouldn't want to wait behind someone doing seperate transactions, that's why I was there at that moment because no one else was in line. I did one transaction & actually had forgotten something so I collected my purchase & the $4 ECB went & got my item then went to the pharmacy to pick up RX's & added another ECB purchase to that & used the $4ECB from previous. Well wouldn't you know my ECB didn't print & I had to go back to the cashier from earlier & ask her to help with my ECB, she was not thrilled & tried hard not to be helpful, but me, still killing her with kindness, she finally went & verified that I had purchased the correct items & that there was a sign posted about the ECB & manually forced the print, then she rang up my final purchases & I used the $3 ECB, I feel somewhat sneaky for going back & having the pharmacy ring up one of my 3 transactions, but I think she was in the wrong for judging me so quickly, in the end she seemed to have settled down. Thank goodness kindness won out, but I was about at my limit before I started hollering for a manager!

    • Dee

When you say Transaction #1, #2 and so on do you mean to do all these separate transactions in one visit or come back other days? Or are you simply giving several examples for us to pick from? I have been trying to learn the CVS system and for some reason I'm just not getting it. Maybe my old ways of seeing a “decent” price comes into play and I go overboard buying instead of waiting until an “excellent” price. I do great with the deals you tell us about at Kroger though. Thank you for doing this site!

      • To lower your OOP costs, do different transactions- same day/same trip but pay for things separate. Personally, I have found it was better to spend a bit more OOP in my first few weeks to get more ECB to roll over. I only do 1 transaction per trip now. I usually end up with $10+ ECB a week to roll over and spend about $2 OOP including tax.

        • Dee

Thanks Jalonzo. I think I have a plan now. :)

      • carrie

First of all, I buy everything in one transaction and save the ECBs for the next week's trip. I still think that in the end the money comes out the same so I make things easier on myself and just do it in one transaction. Secondly, as for succumbing to a “decent” price, once you've been doing this for awhile and get both a good stockpile going and learn which things you should always be able to get for free (toothpaste, flouride rinse, floss, etc) or for the “excellent” price then you'll switch and won't be able to bring yourself to buy it at the “decent” price anymore. Some things, I have so much of (shampoo, lotions, body washes) I won't buy anymore until I can make a profit off of it.

    • AW

I was really expecting my checkout at CVS to be a battle after reading some of the comments here. It was my first time and the cashier was so helpful. She even asked me how I wanted to do the transactions, then told me the best way to do it to save the most money. She said whenever I'm not sure, always ask they'd tell me the best way. Awesome!!

      • hadtoshare

Sometimes it's not the cashiers but the rude customers who can't wait until they get TOTALLY in their car before making a rude comment about you and ur coupons! When I got in line there was no-one behind me, I did 2 transactions and had a problem with a coupon/ECB deal not printing. Was very co-operative and polite, just asked clerk to please return item. No biggie until I was getting in my car and Ms. Smarty Pants getting into the car next to me with her boyfriend blurts out “she held up the line over a COUPON'!!! She can BITE ME!!!! SORRY, had to vent : ) Glad you had a good experience

    • Ashley H

There's a Bounty Upromise coupon for $.50 of a 6 pack or larger, which knocks that one down to $5.13 or $.64/roll.

    • Christy

If any one is interested the Covergirl items that are buy 2 get 4ECB are also on sale for $7 ea. HTH Put that with a $3 off $10 and you have a pretty good deal as those items are typically around $10 ea :)

      • Christy

plus the 2 $1 manufacturer coupons, forgot about those!

    • Juwills

Does anyone know if Greenville SC area CVS's accept printed coupons and can these be combined with the in store coupons and deals?

      • Cstickerbourgeois

I am not sure about Greenville but Anderson accepts both with no problem. You can always call and ask if you are not sure or stop by when passing CVS one day. Good luck!

      • Tonya

I go to Cvs in Simpsonville and they accept them.

      • Simpliepie

Yes CVS in Greenville accepts printed coupon and they can be used with the deals.

    • Natalie

I don't have a Colgate coupon in my Feb All You magazine! How did this happen? It's not listed in the magazine at all.

      • Fallaya

I found a Colgate coupon in MY All You mag that I purchased at Walmart just yesterday.

      • Tonks

it was on pg 112 in my all you magazine, hope this helps

      • Veganpadua

    • We2ding

I have never bought a Green Dot Prepaid Visa or Mastercard ($4.95 activation fee) get a $10 credit loaded onto to the card when you use it to make a purchase at CVS by March 18th. Can someone explain how that works? Do you have to buy a $25 card?

      • Mcleodsc

I am also wondering how this will work. Is there a minimum amount you have to load on the card? Is the $10 credit loaded as soon as you make a CVS purchase?

        • Nysummer2010

The minimum you need to load is $10 and on the find print from CVS ad said “credit will appear within 10 days of qualify purchase”….

It did have a $5.95 monthly charge unless you can make at least 30 purchases or load at least $1000……………errrrrrrrrrrrrr

      • q-savvy

I read on anonther site, that this is not a good deal. In the fine print it states that there is a $5.95 monthly fee also charged. With a $4.95 activation fee that ends up costing you .95. I have not checked this out, just saying information from another site. HTH

    • Elizabeth

You can earn a coupon for 20% or 25% off a purchase at CVS if you “Like” them and register on Facebook. Amount for coupon depends on how many “Likes” they get. Coupon sent via e-mail on 2/14/11.

    • Thehagwoods

So excited about my CVS run tonight! I got two overnights, two colgate toothpaste, one listerine, three 12 packs of coke, two lorelle eyeshadow, two hersey candy, one speedstick, and three garnier hairdye and only spent 4.06 oop. I left with 8.79 in ecb. So exicited!

    • Sanran0116

I combined last week and this week coming deals to get this GREAT deal!. Here goes..first transaction: Zantac24ct, Stride Spark gum, and Nice and easy Haircolor Foam. • msivory20

        I got the $4 ECB's for my toothpaste too…so awesome :)

    • Billings610

If I have a raincheck for the Coke deal from a few weeks ago, can I use it to get 5 ECB and also get 3 ECB from this weeks ad?

      • Tiff715

you shouldnt be able to, because your working off of 2 different deal numbers

      • Anonymous

Yes, because they are two different deals….one deal from a few weeks ago and this week’s deal.

    • Sixpyes

my Loreal $5/2 says ” loreal cosmetics face products” does anyone know if this coupon will really work for the suggested deal buying the “eye cosmetics” to get the ecb's ??? Has anyone tried this deal???

      • DebTN

I did it at Rite aid a few weeks ago. The cashier debated, asked another worker, still wasn't sure, but then she finally scanned it and it worked.

      • X15er

I used the coupon today to buy mascara and eye shadow and it worked perfect.

      • Nysummer2010

There is a newer coupon $3 on one Loreal Face cosmetics…If you are able to use it on any Loreal cosmetic, that would be a better deal :)

FYI in my case – CVS system always takes those coupons but RiteAid didn't which will depend on how cashiers define the “face cosmetics”

        • ShopperSteph

Could you tell me where the 3 q is? I am going to do this deal tomorrow. Thanks!!

          • Nysummer2010

@ shoppersteph….the $3 off Loreal face cosmetics can be found on 1/30 RP…

      • Sixpyes

Thanks everyone—I'm going to try it this week then :)

    • wendyc33

i went tonight to do the deals and the colgate for one is ringing up 3.49 each, and no ecb's. I asked her to look in the ad and she said the only sale they had was for a 2 pk of colgate. there was no signs up to get the ecb, so i tried it anyway. Does anyone know what might have been the problem? I had her give me a credit.

      • Jenalex0630

The sale technically doesnt start until tomorrow morning. Usually you have to ask for the deals that start Sunday on Saturdays and they will give it to you. They switch the new marketing over on Saturday afternoon/evenings thats why they are mostly willing to give you the new weeks deals.

        Hope this helps some….

        • wendyc33

well the ad starts on saturday for me too, but there is no signs saying this generates a 3.79 ecb. or even a 3.49 ecb, which is the price it rang up. also the size wasnt the problem either. just crazy. she had her new ad in her hand looking for me, but it was for a 2pk colgate, and no ecb's. Maybe my area is different or something. hmmm

          • Geff

I don't know if the deals are different in some places… I've always had them be the same wherever place I was in (Deals here in IL are the same as the were when I was in central FL last week).

Anyway, the Colgate deal for $3.79 with a $3.79 ECB are listed on the front page of this week's ad.

      • msivory20

I had the same problem today getting the toothpaste that is for this next week. But I had an awesome cashier who let me have it for that price then just manually printed my ECB's. Your cashier must have been looking at this past week's ad.
But normally everything rings up fine the day before the ad.

      • Geff

Had the same problem when I went to CVS Saturday evening. The deal prices were listed on the tags by the toothpaste, so we tried it. It didn't print any ECB, but my CVS is awesome and she went to check the tag on the shelf and it was indeed listed as 3.49 ECB… she said I should get the deal and manually printed it out for me. I love when they are so helpful. Of course, I am never rude when one of the ECB's don't print out… I sort of ask innocently, apologize for causing extra hassle and then thank them for being so helpful. I'm guessing if more people treated them with that kind of respect, we may not have as many issues.

      • Tamara

This will happen when a product is on sale one week and also on sale the next week (with different amounts off). On Sat. night, both sales are technically in effect and the CVS system will take the “best money price”, which would be the $3.49 (2 for $6.98). The sale that starts Sunday is $3.79 for one (with $3.79 ECB), so the system thinks $3.49 is a better price and will give that price to you on Sat. night, but it doesn't take into account the fact that we have a $1 coupon and we get $3.79 ECB back which makes it a money maker. It just sees the price and tries to help you out, but never actually does when this occurs. I just did most of my shopping last night (Sat.) and waited until this morning for the toothpaste deal so that I didn't annoy the cashiers. I try not to make too many waves at CVS and I also try not to take advantage of the fact that they turn on the sale early. I fear that if I am a bother about it, they won't turn it on early anymore and then I'll lose out. Also, I always scan all of my items at the coupon machine before I go to the cashier. That's how I found out that the new sale price wasn't ringing up for the toothpaste. This always eliminates hassle and frustration at the checkout counter.

    • jasta3

I have never used a target coupon at CVS before…is that okay…it is one of the Huggies coupons listed?

      • traci

I am wondering the same thing…just posted the same question before I noticed your post..hopefully someone can help us out and answer. :o)

        • Sarah

Not all coupons on the Target website are Target store coupons, many of them are manufacturer coupons.

      • Hwyman422

If you print that coupon, you'll see it is a manufacturers coupon ( I believe). I have printed it twice so I can't check it!

    • Annieven

this ad doesn't start until tomorrow (Sunday) morning. Everything should work ok then.

    • traci

The link for the Huggies printable Q took me to Target. Can I use a coupon that says Target Web Coupon at CVS??

      • msivory20

I would assume no. My CVS doesn't take competitor's coupons. But if it says Manu. on it and starts with a 5 or a 9 then you could ask the cashier to scan it just to see if it would work. Never hurts to try :)

      • Sarah

Target.com has BOTH Target and Manufacturer coupons.

      • Sarah

Target's website has BOTH Target and Manufacturer coupons.

    • msivory20

Be on the lookout for individually marked down cosmetics (50% and 75%). I used my CVS $3 off $10 cosmetic purchase along with (2)$3 Neutrogena q's to get 2 makeup items for around $3 :)

      • Nysummer2010

        also you can do the Loreal deals for this week. 2/$12 – $3 off $10 coupon – MQ $3 *2 – ECB $3 = FREE !!!

        • Tntringer

I figured there was a better deal to be had with all of the cosmetics coupons and ecb's, plus the store Q- thank you for listing!

    • Kchizzle83

My SmartSource from 2/06 had $1.00 off Colgate Sensitve coupons.

    • Lkd77

I am new to CVS'ing and have a question I hope someone can help me with :) It turns out I had 4.50 ECB from prescriptions that I fill at CVS and those ECB expire 2/17!! I was going to use the getting started scenario Jenny gave above (the first example with 2 small transactions) but because I have these ECBs that are going to expire, I am thinking of doing something different — not sure if this will work though or if it makes sense: 1st transaction) Could I put the $4.50 ECB I have towards 1 colgate and use my coupon, meaning I wouldn't spend anything OOP and still have $1.71 in ECB left plus the $3.79 ECB I would earn from “buying” the toothpaste… for a total of $5.50 ECB. 2nd transaction) Then could I would use the $1.71 ECB that will expire and $1.08 worth of ECB that I acquired from my first transaction to buy another Colgate toothpaste… meaning, I'd get another toothpaste for $2.79 with q and have $2.71 in ECB leftover plus another $3.79 in new ECB bringing my new ECB total after 2nd purchase to $6.50 in ECB… does that make sense??? or am I confused and/or have this all wrong!! If someone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it!!! :)

      • wendyc33

ok your post is a bit confusing, but i see u have a 4.50 ecb you want to use. I would buy 2 colgate toothpastes use the 4.50 ecb, and get back a 7.58 ecb for the toothpaste. You cannot split up your 4.50 ecb. this all depends if you have 2 coupons for the toothpastes too, you would pay a little over a 1.00 oop. more for me, but i pay 9.5% tax too.

        • Laura Wilson

OK now I'm confused. You mean if you have 10 ECB and you go the store and buy only $5.00 worth of products, you cannot just say you only want to use 5 ECB and keep 5 ECB???

          • Dana

No, it is all used in one transaction, even if you don't have enough product to cover the ECB. So none can be left over.

      • wendyc33

one more thing to add. i see u want to do these seperate to make your oop less, normally that is ok to do, but in this case if you bought one toothpaste minus the coupon pay 2.79 + tax. and then get a 3.79 ecb back. turn around and do the deal again, and use your 3.79 ecb you earned, you would have to buy something else to get your total high enough to use it. also you are paying more oop that way. So just buy them together, and use your 4.50 ecb, and your 2 coupons.

        • Lisa

I see… I didn't realize I couldn't split my ECB and I didn't realize that the value of my purchase had to be as much as or more than the value of my ECB!! Two important things to know!! Thank you!

      • Wdra0632

Hi Lkd77 CVS will take the ECBs after they expire, so don't worry if you don't see anything you want save them. Also if the $4.50 is on one ECB you have to use it all at once. If it is broken into $1's then you can use what you need. HTH

    • Kstmh

What zip code did you use for the $2 off Huggie printable coupon?

    • Annblack

i cant figure the prilosec deal buy 2 for 50 get 5 rebate, get 25 back, use 8 coupon equals 12 you spend. what am i missing thanks

      • Tiff715

        Its a $25 Mail in rebate, $16 worth of coupons (2@ $8), and $5ECB

      • Nurzingismylife

the ecb are $5 for each box limit 2 so if you buy two then you will use your $8/2 coupon get $10 ecb and mail in rebate for $25 so total oop is $6.98 or $3.49 each

    • Cmn

The red machine printed a free CVS pantyliners coupon for me today!

Anyone else having trouble with the Honest Tea site????

There are some $1/2 diet coke coupons out that came in a publix coupon booklet that I found yesterday. They are mfr coupons so if diet coke is included, the coke deal could be better…

I found a 1.50 off Colgate Sensitive – I can tell I cut it from a magazine so it must have been a magazine that I wouldn't have kept (in other words not All You). Maybe First Woman or Woman's Day – I did get a few others free from signing up??

      • Jennifer

I got it in a little paper that we get every Wednesday for free in the mail. It usually has 5 or 6 coupons in it.

    • Dlanell

hmm..I am trying to start taking advantage of the cvs deals. I have a had a extra card there for a while but I am new to the couponing. I guess I am still confused on how it all works? Is there a way to find out if I have bucks on my card? I am also confused on your transaction suggestions. Do theses have to be done seperate? Sorry!!

      • 2luckie

Read the “Getting started ” guide that Jenny prints. It really helped me understand after reading her scenario.

      • Tntringer

I thought the same thing before I got really 'into' CVSing- I thought my bucks would automatically be on the card…I always threw away my reciept, even with Extra Bucks on them!!! I just figured they were on my card and will be taken off next time I shopped… totally err! Your ECB's will print at the bottom of your receipt and you will have to tear them off and hand them over as a 'cash coupon'. Good Luck!!! Its really quite great once you get the hang of it!

    • Lynda

the coupon buy 2 get 1.00 has expired.

    • Caitlin

Just wanted to let ya'll know…..I just picked up the Prilosec Deal and in the boxes there are $15 worth of P&G coupons!! Makes the deal even better!!!!

    • q-savvy

on the green dot card, be sure you read the fine print. Some one said that there is also a $5.95 monthly fee and the $4.95 activation fee. I Don't know what to do now.
Does any one know about this card???

      • Jkwcoupon

I went to get my greendot card earlier, the cashier informed me that there was a $4.95 activation fee that will not be put on the card. Then she also informed me that there was a minimum $10 that had to be loaded on the card at that time as well. It cost me $14.97 just to activate the card and load it and since I planned on using it to purchase something there anyways I figured might as well as long as I get the additional $10 from CVS upon my first purchase with them. After purchasing my card I went to the back and opened it, registered it with my phone and waited a few minutes. When I went up front to pay for my purchase so that I could get the additional $10 from CVS I was upset because it didn't even accept my card saying the balance on the card was $0, not only should my card now have $20 on it but it was rejected. I will go back in a few days to see if it just takes a few days to get activated. I just wanted to let everyone know so they don't go thru the samething I did. I would like to see how Jenny did her card maybe I just went about doing it the wrong way.

      • Lori

I saw that, and that they ask for your social security number when you register the card online. It does not say if you HAVE to register the card online for it to work, or if I can use it right away. It does not say what happens if you deplete the card before the first month is up. It does not say if you have to link it to a bank account. I decided against getting it, since I don't know if I'll get charged the $4.95 activation fee AND $5.95 for the first month…..

        • Q-Savvy

I think even if you deplete the card before the first month is up you still get charged the monthloy fee. (I am not sure). When you buy this green dot card you have to give the cashier your social security number, this is what someone told me. Just saying…..HTH

      • I'm sorry, I didn't realize there was a monthly fee. Because of this, I would recommend getting the green dot card and using your money within the month so that you don't lose it to a monthly fee!

    • Shay

Are the sales different at different CVS stores? I went today but did not see the $1.99 dove body wash – I did not see it in the Birmingham AL sales paper either – the only DOVE on sale was the bars for 2/$5 — thanks!

      • Sarah

        Wasn't that last week?

        • Jkwcoupon

sorry i replied to the wrong one lol.

          • jhoran

The 10.00 that you loaded should have come up but it could be you needed to give it a couple of hours to load. As for the 10.00 credit the fine lines states that it will appear within 10 days. Also, you have to make a purchase at cvs by March 18 in order to get the 10.00 credit.

        • Shay

          whoops – thanks :)

    • Daymon

I was wondering if anyone else has this same opinion. Now, mind you, I use this site all the time and find out about deals I might have never figured out on my own or don't have the time to research myself. I am forever grateful…for sure! Now, I see this happen from time to time and wonder why it is. Fill me in if I'm missing something. In the Colgate scenario above, I chose not to use the $1 Q towards an item that is already free without out using the Q. I feel it is a waste of a Q that can be used in the future towards a totally free tube of toothpaste at somewhere like Kroger. I feel that the $1 I'm saving by using the Q with the CVS ECB deal is actually a loss when I can use that Q to get a tube totally free with a sale at Kroger that would actually cost more than that dollar. Is this clear??? I sometimes mumble type and can't explain what I mean.

      • LynetteC.

I totally see your point. I guess it's the “profit” part that entices people. I do both depending on the item. Thanks for making a good point in case others may not have thought of it.

      • Geff

It all just comes down to OOP expense. Both ways can be legitimate uses. Go with whichever you feel is the best. Personally, I use those coupon situations to essentially take $1 off of another purchase I am doing at the same time.

        • Frugal4eva

          What is OOP? Thanks!

          • Zarate06

            oop = out-of-pocket

      • Zarate06

For me, it's all about making the profit on the toothpaste to help defray the cost of other items that I need. In my case, I needed diapers today, so I bought two tubes of toothpaste and by doing so, I got the toothpaste for free, plus I got $3 (because I had two $1.50 for the toothpaste) off of my diapers purchase with the profit I made.

      • jhoran

You get the toothpaste for free at kroger, but you are actually getting it for free at cvs, as well as making a dollar profit which comes from the coupon. Kroger is not giving you the dollar profit, only the toothpaste. hth

      • ireneY

Most of us, who have been couponing for a while, tend to have gigantic stockpiles of toothpaste (it's free quite often.) Using the $1 overage isn't really seen as waste since it's just a bonus on top of the 30+ tubes at home!!!

      • stacey

Basically it lowers your out of pocket cost. It’s free because you are getting bucks back. But you still have to spend the original $3.79. With coupon now you are just spending 2.79.

    • Lisamarieonssi

Since the Gain dish is on sale for .88 and there are 1.00 off coupons (I have 3) which makes them free +. why is there not an acorn beside it? Is it b/c there not with an ECB deal? I thought I should buy them but no acorn …..

      • jessc5

So, do you need someone to tell you “free” is stock-up price? Just because an acorn is missing doesn't mean we can't figure some things out on our own.

Please do not take that as me being mean, but sometimes we need to think on our own and realize Jenny (and others) are human and do not catch every little detail.

        • gymmom

WOW…attitude, maybe? Some of us are new to couponing and can use all the help we can get.

          • Lisamarieonssi

Thanks, I am new so I didn't know if I was missing something. With CVS it's all about the ECB so you can pay with those – so I thought maybe it was b/c it wasn't an ECB deal. Just asking and learning. I figured her 6 years of experience was better than my few months.

      • Tiff715

MY CVS will kep the coupon down to .88 but really, I dont care, Im getting it free and dont expect a store to lose money because of me

        • Courtney

They don't lose money, they still submit it for the full face value of the coupon.

      • jhoran

You might want to double check that coupon…..the one that came out this weekend is for laundry detergent…however, there are 3 (1.00) in the P&G booklet if you have it………..no acorn because she probably forgot to list, but that doesn't mean to say you shouldn't go ahead and buy them… remember, the list is just a guide and is not set in stone…its also up to you to spot deals that might be better because there might be variations in prices and coupons depending on your area. For example, the colgate was supposed to be 3.79 but rang up as 3.49 at my store. hth

        • Henaomiller

I had some 1.00 q for the gain dish, so ended up getting 5 for .86!but theres also 3.00 q in the paper for gain softner, got some really good deals tonight!

        • Ladybugpam

there are 2 for the gain dish, not 3.

        • Lisamarieonssi

Thanks, I have the P&G booklet so I'll use them !

    • Beth

      Does CVS take competitors coupons?

      • Angie

They have let me use Target coupons

      • Nita Royal

Most do not. You should ask at the specific store where you shop.

      • Bamacat

CVS in Huntsville, AL, just stopped taking competitor coupons last week. :(

    • Jennifer

what”s the green bag tag mentioned in the getting started scenario?

      • Angela

It is a little tag that CVS sells for .99 I think and you place it on any reusable bag that you use at CVS. Each time you use it, the cashier scans the tag and after the fourth scan you get a $1 ECB. and then it starts over again. Tag can be used once a day

        • artlady

Just an interesting tidbit – the green bag tag can be used once per day per store. So if you have 2 or more CVS locations that are convenient to your daily schedule, you can actually scan it more than once per day as long as it's a different store each time.

          • Lorannclark

            did not know this=- thanks

    • AJ

I found a B1G1 coupon for Progresso soup on the back of the Fiber One bars that are on sale right now at Publix (and I think were on sale last week at CVS). I got 4 free cans of Progresso with 2 coupons. I have 2 more coupons at home to use. There is a limit of 8.

      • Fallaya

What's the retail price of the Progresso soups please?

        • Geff

Not sure what it is at the grocery store… It was $2.99 at my CVS though. Sounds bumped up to me.

CreativeCloud3, really? A name like that with spelling and grammer like that? WOW!

    • Thedanusc

I have a question. I am new to all of this. So if I would go into CVS and do one transaction and get the bucks on my receipt can I have another transaction ready to go and use the bucks that I just earned? Is that what most of you do? Or get out of line, go get what you need and then go pay for it?

      • jhoran

Yes, and unless there's a bunch of peope in line you can continue with the next transaction.

      • carrie

Or just make things easier on yourself and do everything in one transaction and save all your ECBs to use like cash the next week.

      • Tammie

I definitely would have everything in my cart. Depending on the # of transations and the # of people in line, I will do a transaction and then go to the end of the line for my other transactions. I don't want to add to the negative impression that some people have of couponers (being hoarders, etc.). Be sure to remember you will have to use all of the ECB in that transaction. If I am trying to spend as little OOP as possible, then I do multiple transactions, using my ECBs. However, with this week's coke deal, I will use the Colgate and Speedstick ECBs to purchase the 3 packs of Cokes. I have written out my scenarios many times so I don't get confused! Welcome to the world of drugstores! (read my post on Rite Aid and my Best OOP)

    • jhoran

      Its called shorthand grammer.

      • CreativeCloud3

        exactly! :)

    • Triadclippers

I bought a green dot card at CVS yesterday as you mentioned above. The card costs $4.95 and you have to load at least $10 cash. This is fine, but I registered it online and the company is going to charge a $5.95 fee every month on the 16th. So this deal is not as good as you mentioned. I called the company and asked for a refund of my activation fee and the $10 I loaded. They are mailing me a check in 7 to 10 days. Hope this works out ok.

      • Tattoo_warehouse

Our CVS is great we have a few casheirs that use Southern Savers and they take all the orders as we have them. We just got back after standing in line for 30 min cashing out 11 Transactions CVS in Knightdale North Carolina is GREAT

      • Julia

I was just going to mention something about this bc I went to CVS to purchase one as well. After the cashier explained to me that I would have to put a min of $10 on it in addition to the $4.95, I relucted not to go with it. I'm glad I did! Sorry about the trouble it caused you, but I was thinking it was going to be a good deal as well :(

      • I'm sorry, I didn't realize there was a monthly fee. Because of this, I would recommend getting the green dot card and using your money within the month so that you don't lose it to a monthly fee!

        • Q-Savvy

Jenny someone left a comment saying you would have to make 30 purchases in the month or load $1,000 on the card to avoid the $5.95 monthly fee. I just don’t want people to make a wrong purchase. HTH

      • Q-savvy

I left comments days ago warning people about this monthly fee. This card ends up costing you .95 cents. It pays to read all the great comments before shopping. I am sorry for your lost. I am glad your getting back your $$>

    • Mel

I just got a $4/20 Beauty Club coupon in my email… good on cosmetics, skin care, or hair care. It's good for 3 days only. Now I need to see if I can come up with a scenario to make this work.

      • Julie

I just got one too. Please share if you come up with a scenario. I can't make it in the store today, but maybe tomorrow.

        • Dawn

I should check my email, wonder if I got one? I never ever get the CVS coupon emails! Or the good coupons from the CVS machine!

          Here's a scenario though:

          Buy 2 L'Oreal Eye cosmetics @ 6.00 each
Buy 1 Clairol Hair Color Foam @ 7.99 each
Total is 19.99, so I think you will need to buy a small filler!

          Use $5/2 coupon
Use Free Clairol Hair color coupon
          Use $4/20 coupon

Pay 3.00 plus tax (and filler)

          Get Back $4 ECB. :P

          Hope that helped!

          • Julie

Thanks so much for the scenarios!! Everyone on here is so helpful!

        • Nysummer2010

          you can also do

          Buy L'Oreal Eye cosmetics 2/$12 – (use $3 off coupon *2 ) = $6
          Buy Herbal Essences 2/$5.97 – (use $1 off coupon *2) = $3.97
Buy Sally Hansen Nail Pen- 75% off $2.62 (use $2 off coupon) = $0.62
          use $4 off $20 coupon

          Total is 20.59…..OOP = $6.59 + tax (get $5 ECB back)
if you still have CVS $3 off $10 cosmetics coupon..the deal will be sweeter !

    • Bamasaver

CVS skin care products are buy one, get one half off right now, in case you want to include in your planning. I like their facial cleansing towelettes @ $2.99 reg price.

    • Mamag2112

Yippeee! Just getting in the swing of couponing and got my 2 free tubes of toothpaste yesterday at CVS!!!! Love it!!!! Just had to share!!!

    • carrie

I agree with you. After seeing what my kids text and also seeing that teachers are not allowed to correct spelling, capitalization, grammar, etc, (spelling is ONLY taught as a weekly spelling test, and writing papers do not come back to the students totally marked in red like in my day), I'm afraid that correct spelling and grammer as we know it will be extinct in a generation or two. What a shame.

    • Heather

Not sure which coupon pack date it's from but I found I had two buy1G1 free coupons on the Colgate Sensitive toothpaste that is on sale this week, ended up getting 4 tubes for free! :)

    • Fallaya

I tried to buy 2 Excederins, and wanted to use 2 of the FREE coupons I received in the mail. Well the cashier wouldn't let me use them both, because she said the coupon stated “one per purchase”. I tried to explain to her that it meant one coupon per PRODUCT purchased, not one per TRANSACTION, but she was a cranky one, so I let it go and asked for my coupons back. She really annoyed me…she almost tossed my Gain back at me, saying I didn't purchase it, when I clearly did (and I showed her where she put it in the bag!!!!!!!!). She had an attitude problem, and I didn't want to argue with her.
Am I right about the Excederin coupons? If so, I'm going to a different store tomorrow to do the transaction. I can't stand cashiers with attitude problems.

      • Fallaya

I meant she almost tossed my Gain COUPON back at me!

      • Mike

You are correct and would have asked for my coupons back, told the cashier to talk to their manager, and walked out and gone to another CVS- I have no time for Apple Heads

      • Jennifer

I did the Excedrin deal yesterday using the free coupons we got in the mail. I even noticed when I got home that she took off 6.99 each when the coupon said only up to 5.99. It definately depends on your cashier!! I would try it elsewhere if it's convenient for you to.

      • Lisamarieonssi

I've had the same problem at one of the CVS stores here. He tried to tell me a purchase was the same as a transaction – I had 3 like items with 3 like coupons, he refused to take two of them. Even some of the P&G same limit 4 of like coupons per transaction – I didn't argue either but did report to CVS. I asked them nicely to explain their own coupon policy and I wa right and he was wrong.

      • Mysterious_Mentalist

I call such employees vigilantes. They feel people are taking advantage for getting “deals,” and they are in conflict with smart shoppers because they themselves do not do or dont know how to do it. The employee was definitely wrong about “per purchase.” Many confuse that term to per transaction. When it comes to coupons, one has to be technical. And technically you were right to explain that. Next time, dont wrap up and insist on doing the right thing so they will also learn.

    • Tara Pennington

Got my 20% off shopping pass today from the “like” deal on Facebook.

Should I give my cashier this FIRST before she scans my other manufacturer coupons? I am thinking since my first trans will be the biggest, she can take the 20% off first, then I'll use my manufacturer coupons, and then my extracare bucks, am I thinking correctly?

      • Rhonda

        You've got it!!!!

      • Corey

I don't think it matters. The 20% will take the discount off the purchase price before the coupons so you could give it to the cashier in any order.

      • Julia

I got mine as well and I just left CVS and was sooooo upset bc after all my coupons I forgot to give it to the cashier, so I didn't even get to use it on my “big” transaction :( Anyway, I got home and read the fine print and it said that it excludes sale items!! I wouldn't have been able to use it anyway bc all I bought were sale items! Just be aware, it might not take off as much as you think if your buying normal and sale items. Hope this makes sense!

      • Felicia

I got one too and it says that excludes all sale items. So if you are buying items on sale, you will not receive 20% off of them. :(

        • Tara Pennington

Hrm…. that seems crazy. Everything basically at CVS is on “sale”…

do they mean clearance items or things with a “price cut”..

i'm going today, and I'm going to give it to my cashier regardles..

    • je

just left from CVS to pucrchase some diapers and colgate toothpaste. I purchase 2 jumbo packs pull-ups. i used 1q from the mail from huggies. and a printed coupon from huggies website. i was so embarrassed when an old cashier lady told me that she will not accept the internet coupon. she said ” i can't accept this coupon this is printed from the internet and it's illegal” i told her i'm a registered member of their website that's why i have this coupon and she scan the coupon and said i will only accept it this time. when i get home and checked my receipt she even made a mistake. i have $4 0ff of $20 received from my email. instead of deducting $4 she added a taxable item of $4 on my purchase. Grrrrrrrrrrr. i called and i have to go back there again.

      • Geff

That's ok. If that happens again, just politely ask for the manager or supervisor. “Internet Coupons” are accepted and CVS has coupons on it's own web site for you to print. I'm pretty sure CVS takes coupons from the CVS site. If it were me, I would actually print one from the CVS site and take it back into the same store at the same time I did before… hopefully getting the same cashier. When she made any kind of comment, I would simply say it came from the CVS website.

      • Mysterious_Mentalist

Actually the employee needs to be told it is not to her wether accept or not. I am not sure how she came up with that illegal argument there

    • Don't be rude

This is not grammar class. Stop the complaining.

    • Syndilew

I got a 4/20 q as well as a 20% q from CVS in my email today and just wondering if I am able to use both of these together.

      • Sb

You need to read the terms and conditions that is in small print at the bottom of the coupons. It probably says that it can't be combined with any other offer. Also, the 20%qs usually can't be used for items that are on sale or advertised in the weekly circular.

    • Mommyof2sweetgirls

I just wanted everyone to know of another great way to get ECBs at CVS- a place I frequent weekly for great deals. This year they started this program called Beauty rewards. Basically, for every $50 you spend on beauty products, you get $5 ECB back 2 days later. It keeps a running tally for you and carries over from week to week. You can sign up at CVS.com or with the little tearpad in the front of the store.

The best part of the deal is the scope of “beauty” products. Based on my ECBs, it must include things like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, chap stick, etc. and must give you credit for the value before coupons. just a little FYI- so all you ladies who do not use cosmetics CAN benefit from this program, too!!!

      Happy shopping…

      • msivory20

My receipt currently says that I already have $43 towards my Beauty Rewards, which is great :) But I did notice that my purchase of clearance makeup did not add to my tally. I didn't notice until it was too late to ask the cashier about it. Is that normal procedure?

        • Amy T

I don't think so. I spent $17 on clearance makeup after coupons the first day I had it and on my receipt it showed I had $32 toward rewards.

        • Eae1959

I made that error once and then learned to verify all the “mark downs” in the magic red machine. Sometimes it seems the label is marked and not the item… The first time I received the rewards it was an additional 10% off.

        • Nysummer2010

those clearance items are also counted toward beauty club rewards..and normally it will take 48 hrs to reflect on your receipt or you can check http://www.cvs.com (log in your account –> Extra care – up right-hand side corner –> current balance)

    • Happy Feet

      What does the Acorn mean?

      • Yolli

Really really great deal and that the price is under $1

      • Also, that you should stock up on the item while the price is so low.

        • Girl D29

Would you consider adding HG Hills to your stores? Please??? :)

    • Yolli

The $3 off $10 CVS beauty Q is only good for 24 hours it was printed. You could only use it this week if you printed on Saturday and then you would have had to use it on Sunday…UGH

      • firstbrownie

Check your store….mine take their store coupons for up to 30 days after expiration! It is wonderful!

    • allymoore

Going to try out CVS for the first time, but the only Colgate qs I have are .75 and .50. I also want to buy the 3 Coke deal. What should my transactions be? Thanks for your help!

      • Tammie

Since you were going to buy cokes anyway, this is what I would do: use your 2 Colgate coupons and buy 2 toothpaste and 1 of the Speedstick. (2.99, get 2.00 ECB) Buy all of it at once. You should end up with about 3.79 + 3.79 + 2.00 in ECBs. Then use those (9.58 ECB) to buy the cokes. You will get 3 ECB on the cokes. I would either save the 3 ECB or buy more cokes. 3 for 10 is a good price on cokes, regardless of ECB. (You won't get 3.00 ECB back on the 2nd coke transaction.) Even without coupons, this is a scenario to spend around 10.00 & tax and get items and cokes!

        • Allymoore

          Thanks, Tammie!

    • Flygirl22963

Omg, wow did I score today…..I picked up 4 of the Xtra laundry soap,2 of the Gain dish soap,2 Colgate toothpaste, and 1 speed stick saved$27.56 OOp $.094 and all the Valentines candy was on sale too!! ( oh I used $12.00 Ecb and got back $10.58Ecb)

Just wanted to let you know that at my CVS today they had Dove and Secret Deodorant on clearance. If you have any of the B1G1/B2G1 coupons left you can get some great deals on them if you need them.

    • Heatherd08

I just got two 40 packs of diapers, two tubes of toothpaste, and an 8 pk of paper towels for under $20.00. Thank you so much Jenny for what you do!

    • Lmpate

Someone posted that there was a B1G1 on the colgate toothpaste. Anyone know where that q is?

    • Kristy

I lost my cvs card. Can I ask for a new one?

      • Bamasaver

Yes, just call their toll-free number (1-800-746-7287, on the back of my card) & they will send you a replacement. In the meantime, just give the cashier your phone number.

    • Mcleodsc

My sales paper says that there is a limit of 5 on the Extra detergent. Since it did not show up on the bottom of my reciept, I purchased another 5. It still does not show up on the bottom of my reciept. I am going to purchase another 5 today. Apparently there is NOT a limit if you purchase 5 at the time. This is a great bargain for me as I found $1 off coupons in a blinkie at Dollar General making it 88cents per bottle.

      • Reynoldsja

Wow, I wonder why the they put a limit if they weren't going to track it. I actually bought some at bi-lo and got my 5 at cvs yesterday. I didn't think I could get anymore, but will try again! Thanks for the info…

      • Mysterious_Mentalist

Actually, it is a limit 5 per transaction. When there is no ecbs involved with the item sale and when they have limit on the item, it simply means you will upto that number of items for that advertised sale price per transaction. If you buy 6 of these in one transaction, for example, the sixth one will probably ring up at full price. Therefore, you can buy more and more. Also, when no ecbs are involved, no tracking is maintained on your card/receipts.

On a side note, they do this limit thing because they ideally want you to buy just that limit and leave the rest for other consumers who might be looking for the items

    • Samantha

When there is a limit on items (like the Colgate says limit 2 per household) is that per transaction, day, CVS card? I already got 2 Colgates on Monday, but want to go back and get 2 more since I have more coupons. Will they let me do that?

      • Jeannie

It is a limit of 2 per card. You can buy more but you will not get the ECBs

        • Samantha

Thanks! I wasn't looking to get a new card, just wanted to know if the ECBs were per card or per transaction. :)

      • informant

Just get more cards…simple once you do the work for one card its simple to repeat it with more, if your afraid of hearing no, go to another cvs

        • Tara Pennington

I would definitely NOT get more than one extra care card. That is so wrong on so many levels — ethically and morally more so than any.

That's cheating the system, and not to mention cheap on the buyer's part.

We're already getting great deals, why give couponers a bad name by doing something shady?

          • guest

I have been a CVS customer for many years and they have actually mailed me 3 different cards over the course of time. I don't have a problem using them since they sent them to me. I thought I read some where that you can apply for one card per family member in your household. Anyone know if that is the case???

          • FreedomSpradley1

I have an extra care card and my hubby has a card. I use my card primarily to coupon but if there's freebies one week I grab his card too and go to the store. I don't for one second think I'm being unreasonable using two cards. Limits on freebies are usually low so it's not like I'm cleaning the shelf using two cards. Even if the shelves are clean, get a rain check! No harm done.

        • Morgan

Or just follow the rules, and only have one card.

      • firstbrownie

Toothpaste is almost always free or next to free at Wag's or CVS; so just hang onto the coupons for another good deal.
I do agree that getting multiple cards is wrong. However, I have a friend's that I use so I can buy things for her, since she lives way out in the boon-docks. I can only use her ECBs with her card, so I think multiple cards are a hassle since you have to keep track of the bucks for each individual card.
One more thing…..find someone who has a card, but doesn't coupon; when you see a really good deal, ask if you can use their card…..it is just like them going in themselves to get it.
        Just some thoughts!

      • Mysterious_Mentalist

I think what you wanted to know got carried away. When ecbs are advertised in the flyer, there will always be limit mentioned. That limit wether 1 or 2 (rarely more than 2), is per card scanned for that sale week only. You can track your limit on the bottom of your most recent receipt-It will tell you if you can still go for another limit or if “limit reached.” Each new sales week resets the whole ecbs deals (unless one(s) that isare monthlong deal/s)

    • Amber

My CVS store in Grovetown, GA had coupons for $1.50 a 12 pack of diet coke or caffeine free coke with their display. I purchased one pack of diet coke, a pack of sprite and a pack of mr. pibb. So, with the 3 for $10, $1.50 off coupon and $3 ECB, I basically paid $1.83 each. Not too shabby…I have a lot to learn, but I'm loving this couponing thing!

    • Suzanne W.

I just saw that my green dot prepaid visa has a monthly service charge of $5.95. How can I avoid that fee?

      • Frugalistic Mama~aka~Dana

        make 30 purchases or load $1000 ;-)

    • natasha

If I for example get 2 Colgate Sensitive toothpastes in the same transaction will I only get the $3.79 ECB or will I get $7.58? Is it better to purchase separate so I can get the $3.79 twice or just do them together and get the combined ECB? Im new to CVS and just trying to figure it out! THanks!

      • Sawyeram

I took my sister last night to “show her how its done” and she was able to get both tothpastes in a single transactions and recieved $7.58 ECB back.

      • Proudlyamom

You will get back 2 for $3.79 each. However, you will have more $ out of pocket than if you had used the first one to pay for the second.

      • Geff

I did that yesterday. 2 Colgate Sensitive toothpastes (each using a $1 off coupon) in the same transaction. I got one ECB for $7.58

      • Mysterious_Mentalist

You will get 7.58 in one lumpsome. When there is multiple limit on items, it is always better to buy them separately to generate each ecb separately in smaller denominations. Smaller ecbs are easier to work with

    • Jacob518

I thought I might share something I just learned yday. The (WHOLE) extra bucks an coupons are linked to only start you out buying from CVS. All of the GREAT coupons that you get like 5 off 25 or 3 off 15 will only print when you first start out. It's all a bate an hook thing. So heres a hint, most couponers are not racking up extra quarterly bucks, so keep getting new cards every so often fill em out an toss after they stop getting rewards. TYPICALLY after 10 purchases…an if you notice price changes look at the date printed you want to wait till the next week an they will drop down again till they reach 75 % off. So if you combine your coupon with the percent off it will be free, just put a filler in to eat up the value of the coupon.

    • Morgan

My experience has been the opposite. I have been using the same card for 13 months, and I didn't start getting the x off x coupon emails until a few months ago. And now I get them every two weeks.

      • Tara Pennington

Mine was the same way. I've had my card for YEARS, and I still get those $/$$ coupons, more so now that I'm shopping at CVS more and more.

    • Tara Pennington

Had a great cvs run yesterday. I bought:

I did SEVERAL different transactions, because I was the only person in the store. It was great.

      First Transaction:
      Three 12 pk cokes 10.00
      Two Covergirl Mascaras 14.00
      Physicians Formula Concealer 7.79

-20% off (minus 8.35) (the night manager forced mine through)
      -$7 off Physician Formula Makeup
      -$3/$10 Cosmetics
      -$1 off Covergirl
      $1 off Covergirl

      USED: 13 ecb
      OOP: 0.43 plus tax
      Got: 7 ecb

      Second Transaction:
      Dayquil / Nyquil Combo 8.99
      -Used 1.50 off
      -Used 7 ecb
      OOP: 0.49 plus tax
      Got 2 ecb

      Lady Speedstick 2.99
      -Used 0.50 off
      -Used 2 ecb
      OOP: 0.49
      Got 2 ecb

      #4 Colgate 3.79
      -Used $1 off
      -Used 2 ecb
      OOP: 0.79
      Got 3.79

      #5 Two Aussie 5.97
      -Used $1/2
      -Used 3.79 ecb
      OOP: 1.18
      Got 2 ecb

      #6 Colgate 3.79
      -Used $1 off
      -Used 2 ecb
      OOP: 0.79
      Got: 3.79 ecb

I know this is a LOT of transactions, but I went to a 24 hour store, and I was the only person in the store at like 1 am, so I took my sweet and pleasant time. I would have NEVER done this if there were other people in line or anything like that!

      But it paid off.

For all of this, I paid $4.17 plus tax!!!!!

      • chan

I don't understand why so many seperate transactions. I'm new to serious couponing, only do Publix, but I want to add a drug store to get better deals on non-grocery items. Can you explain?

        • Mysterious_Mentalist

So you could use and roll ECB from previous transactions to the next and on… to reduce any cash payment

        • kenzbug

Go watch the video Jenny posted for beginners at CVS. It explains a lot. I was confused as well until I watched the video. Good luck!!

          • newbie

I watched the video… but why extra transactions? Can't you do it all at once and still get the ECB?

            • Tara Pennington

The separate transactions happen so that you can use the ECB that you JUST received towards the next purchase. If you were to do it all at once, you'd have to pay tons of money out of pocket.

        • Tiff715

If your new to drugstores, START with CVS, Walgreens is soo aggervating, you cant have more Q's then items, and when you add in fillers it gets the price up

        • FreedomSpradley1

Separate transactions keeps your out of pocket expense down. I have found it better that way because if you do one large transaction you are going to be running around with $10-$20 worth ECB. From time to time CVS goes through a lull with no good deals so you would have to burn lotsa ECB before they expire on non-ECB deals.

      • chan

Gotcha…that makes good sense! I did try a small purchase at Walgreens and ended up not getting back as many bucks as expected. Tried RiteAid tonight, but they were already out of most things I was looking for. I did find Dove Ultimate Deodorant on clearance for 2.29, used $2 coupon, was happy with that.
I noticed that Publix will often run out of sale items the 1st few days of a sale, but by the beginning of the week, I can usually find everything I need. Is that so with the drug stores?

    • not sure if this is mentioned but you can get a $5 paypal credit from money pak(green dot) when you load at least $20 on the card and then make a transfer of any amount onto your paypal account.

Here is the link with info:

Purchase $20 card at CVS (pay 4.95 fee)
Transfer an amount to your paypal account
They will credit you $5 (makes card free)
Make a purchase with card at CVS by the date and get $10 credit.

You just made $10 just by moving some money around.

    • Tjmj9801

      What's going on with the printable Pull-Ups coupon? I keep getting a page-long error….

    • E_mgonzalez

i'm having trouble finding the huggies printable coupons :(

    • Rwilson

The huggies coupon is a Target Web Coupon. It doesn't say manufactoer's coupon on it, but it does start with a 9. Can I use this at CVS or not? Thanks!

      • Rwilson

Sorry that's supposed to say “manufacturer's” It's late! haha!

    • Rwilson

Also, can anyone tell me the zip code to find the $2 off Huggies coupon? Thanks!

      • Mommy2sarah

I am wanting to know this as well!

    • tmmb04

Man, I have had the best couponing experience ever. I use CVS for prescriptions, and my husband's insurance was messed up; therefore, the prescription that I needed wasn't covered. The price that I was told to pay was $400+. I add the plus sign because I was told two different prices. One price was around 400 regular priced. The other price was $900. I was floored that a tube of cream could cost so much. We got the insurance straightened out, and the price was still $100-$200 after insurance. My mom surfed the web and found a site that offered a coupon especially for this medicine. I called the number, got the info, and gave it to the pharmacist. The final cost was $50 before tax!!!! It pays off to look for coupons and ways to save. A five minute phone call and a wonderful, smart mother saved me hundreds of dollars. Then, I was able to get 2 pks of diapers, 2 bottles of Listerine, 1 tube of ColgateSensitive, 1 Speedstick deoderant, 1 96 load Tide, and 1 bottle of Gatorade for $15 oop with 2 ECBs remaining. I was pumped after I left CVS.

      • Mamaberry

Next time you run into an issue like this ask about their Rx savings program. I was in there last year with NO insurance. Already dropped $60 at the clinic for an infection I could have diagnosed and prescribed for myself. Then was told it would be another $80 for the two prescriptions I needed. I called a competitor (Wags) and they weren't much better cash. (** I know, minor in comparison to your $400+…but it's the principle – not belittling :))

After seeing the emotion in my face the woman said “hold on just a minute” and came back with a cost of about $25 for both prescriptions and told me that I have a discount plan signed up under my name now so when I come nest time it will work then too. (amazing you have to practically be in tears before corporate sees the need to discount – but THANKS CVS for your help!)

    • Mysterious_Mentalist

*Clarification *** “Therefore, you can buy more and nore but in different transaction to get the sale price”

    • Danny

green dot visa card buyer beware! You have to give your ssn, and there is a $5.95 monthly service fee. So if you do this deal make a purchase right away, (oh ya and you have to wait 10 days to get your $10.00) use the money and cancel the card. One last thing customer service is out sourced and be ready to wait at least 20 min on the phone.

    • twinmom

Grrrr…. I went for my first CVS run last night and I don't think I did so well :-(
Just as I feared, no cosmetics coupons printed for me at the kiosk (printed 2 coupons for the first scan and then wouldn't print anymore), so this threw off all of the deals I had planned. I kind of was like a deer in headlights after this, and decided to keep going with the cosmetic purchases with the coupons I did have.
Here is what I did…I had way too much OOP cost, so I am open to any critiquing and advice you'd like to give! Thanks!

      T #1:

      3 Cokes $10
      2 Xtra detergent $3.76 (2x 1.88)
      2 Colgate Sensitive $7.58 (2×3.79)
      1 Green bag tag $1

      $1 Xtra coupon
      $1 Xtra coupon
      $1 Colgate coupon
      $1 Colgate coupon
      $2 ECB

      Total $17.90 OOP
      Earned ECB $3, $3.79, $3.79= $10.58

      T #2

      L'Oreal Mascara $6
      L'Oreal Mascara $6
      Covergirl Eyeliner $7
      Covergirl Eyeshadow $7

      $1 CG coupon
      $1 CG coupon
      $5 L'Oreal Coupon
      $10.58 ECB

      Total $10.24 OOP
      Earned $3+ $4 = $7 ECB

So total OOP was $28.14 and I have $7 ECB (hopefully to use on diapers bc they were all out at the CVS I went to)

So, did I do horribly? I feel like I maybe shouldn't have gotten the makeup…was it a bad deal w/o the $3 off $10 coupon?

      • Leia W.

My first “try” was way worse then that a year or so ago! So I think you did “good” haha :) it will just keep getting easier and less oop! :)

      • Guest

I think you did great for your first time! When I don't do as great as I would have liked, I just try to focus on the fact that I did SAVE something- no matter how much. I mean, before I began using coupons I still bought the same stuff… I just paid more. So especially since it is stuff that you will use/need, just think that you would of had to buy it anyway… it just would have cost you more. So never get discouraged, because you ARE saving money.

        • twinmom

Thank you so much for the encouragement!

      • msivory20

I agree with the other comments. I think you did just fine! It is hard to accept that you can't get everything for 50 cents ;) For instance, my 3 transactions last Saturday were $45 OOP all together but I saved over $85 and had 7ECB's left over. Looking at the big picture helps :)

    • Rachel797

I found a toothpaste with a bonust toothbrush on it the other night. It gave me the ecbs!

    • Dixiegirlinafrica05

My CVS had store brand newborn diapers on sale for 75% percent off!! I paid $1.53 (I had one ECB) for a package of diapers for baby #3 due in June. :) Doesn't hurt to start early!

      • Mamaberry

I'm with you. I'm working on #4 and we are stocking up with awesome deals like this too! Definitely checking on the clearance when I go!

      • ReginaMarie

I have 4 kids one of which is in diapers. I stocked up on size 3 & 4 diapers months ago when they were on clearance. They were some of the worst diapers I have EVER used over my last 10 years of diapering. They weren't strectchy, the tabs constantly ripped off and they leaked a lot. Walgreens & RiteAid store brands were just as bad. I had maybe 8-10 packs and I was so glad when they were all gone. If you are the least bit picky these diapers probably aren't for you. I normally get pampers & huggies small packs for $3-$5 so I don't plan on straying again.

    • Miss_afb

i went and got a cvs card today and i was told that it would take 2 weeks for my info to get on it does that mean i can't get ecb's for two weeks?

      • Tiff715

no, just means that it can take that long before you can go in and give them your phone number as your card when you forget your card. You can still use it and get all the perks

    • Ro12ro

can you use competitor coupons at CVS?

      • Mamaberry

It is not their policy to accept them, no. That being said, I have read some whose store DOES accept them. Ask your store is your best option, but don't be upset when they say no. hth!!

      • Amoody1981

Each CVS is different, mine takes all competitor coupons

    • Allisonsalmen

HAD AN AWESOME CVS DAY :) I went in and bought 2 total toothpastes. I had two 1 off coupons, two 1 off target coupons (my cvs accepts competitors) and an extra care buck. SO..i paid 2.58 OOP and got 7.58 ECB!! THEN… :) I went in and bought: 1 scotts 12 roll TP pack, 2 clorox wipes, 1 L'oreal luminous mascara, 1 L'oreal eye shadow, 2 xtra detergents all for 2.38 OOP and got 3 ECB! SO it was like all of it for free :) THANKS JENNY!

    • Homeofmurp

My CVS in High Springs FL had $1.50 off 1 12 pack Diet Coke only on a tear pad. They let me use 3 coupons, which I bought 3/$10 and got $3 ECB. That was today, so look for the tearpads.

    • Stephanielmoore

CAUTION!!!! I bought the $10 gift card (+4.95 activation fee). As i was looking at the package to activate it online, I noticed that it is going to deduct 5.95 per month unless i use it 30 times or load at least $1000! I am going to use it up as fast as possible and toss it. Just beware.

      • Cmschindel

Have you ever gotten the $10 credit from using your card at CVS and the promotion?

    • Cmschindel

I did as well and called customer service today. They put the 5.95 montly fee on the 15th of the month, so i;'m hoping i get my $10 loaded on the card quickly (for the CVS purchase before March 18t) and will then cancel the card. If you leave the card open past the 14th of each month you will have the feel loaded and as soon as the card gets any money (from the CVS $10 addition for example), the crappy $5.95 feel will be taken from it. Hope htat makes sense. I thought about getting another one but after seeing this, no way.
Let me kmow if you know any more. I bought my card last Sunday and then used it for the first time today. I'n not sure how i managed to miss the monthy fee on 2/15 but am grateful i did. wonderfing what Jenny know about this; i dont think there is any way around it other than the 1000 you mentioned above.

    • carolinagirl

I went to CVS tonight and was told at checkout that coupons printed from computers were no longer accepted. They didn't even want to take a coupon that was sent to me by Excedrin…..only wanted to accept coupons from the paper and home mailer books. The check out girl was nice and said that she just didn't want to lose her job, but we could call the manager. The manager told me an email was sent to them saying not to accept computer coupons anymore because of scams (people making mutiple copies on copiers) but she would take these this time. Anyone else run into this problem? It appears the email just came out.

    • Shannon

I just had an awesome experience at CVS!
