Before I share my shopping this week, I thought it was important to start with an idea of where the real fun was this week:  Harris Teeter having super doubles!! So I have chosen one of my readers who had a great day shopping at Harris Teeter to share first. Here is a picture of her purchase, valued at $66, and she spent only $11!! Congratulations, Amy!

Now for our shopping:
I went out for Produce and other Essentials this week (and a ton of Pop Tarts for the smaller members of our family who aren’t on a diet).

Total Before coupons and sales: $39.60
Total Spent: $10.30
Total Saved: $29.30

I grabbed a few money makers to cover the cost of milk and then a number of Pop Tarts. Can’t make a real meal from it but it will be eaten!

Total before coupons and sales: $26.14
Total Spent: $19.48
Total Saved: $6.56

This was mostly all produce! We got a ton of Grapefruits, Cherries, red stripe bananas (mark down), and salad.

Weekly Totals
Before sales and coupons: $65.74
Spent: $29.78
Saved: $35.86

For a week of produce and pop tarts that’s pretty good!  I have yet to get the current weeks deals at Publix so I know that being under budget this week will only help the shopping trip next week.

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your savings post.

    • A_shrader

I believe your math is off in the Publix scenario and possibly in your totals! Great trip tho!

    • Regina

      Wed. I spent $41.56, saved $96.88 &
      Thurs. I spent $37.58, saved $65.35!!

      Thanks for everything!!

    • kelli

I had a pretty good week. I did a little bit of shopping at Target and CVS and a lot of shopping at Rite Aid. can't remember the numbers off the top of my head, will have to post them later. :)

      • kelli

Rite Aid: bought xmas clearance, beeno, gasx, wet ones, napkins
        total before sales/coupons: $180.63

    • Suesie

At Publix today I spent $5.37 on 4 Peter Pan Peanut Butters, 4 Special K Cereals, 2 Aqua Fresh Isoactives, 2 Half gal Smart Balance Milk, 1 quart Lactaid milk, 1 Box Publix Waffles.

      • Hooks party of 6

I completely see the Peter pan I could not believe I was able to get 4 for just at $1 and the Aqua fresh toothpaste was like 1.28 for 2. My husband is a Aqua fresh guy so this was exciting to find this great deal. Missed out on the Special k due to printer is taking a time out. NOT my choice but got some Motts juice that had coupons in dispenser. 76 cents each is not to bad especially when coupon printing was limited for me.

Went shopping for the month this week! Took advantadge of the sales at Kroger and Publix.

      Kroger: before coupons – $ 236.48
after both manufacture and Kroger coupons, and store savings,
      $193.26 = $43.22 saved

      Publix: before – $158.89

      after savings and all coupons-

      $94.69 = $64.20 saved
      Total savings from both stores-

This is my second time couponing! I think I did a pretty good job for it! I can't wait til I get this down pat!

    • Donna Gent

I spent a little more this week than I wanted but I got so many great deals! This is my breakdown:

Meijer: Total before coupons and sales was $82 – spent $71 – saved $11

Walgreens: Total before coupons and sales was $235 – spent $40 – saved $195 (have $27.50 in RR for next week)

Rite Aid: Total before coupons and sales was $203 – spent $68 – saved $135 (will get some back on rebate and ended up with $31 Ups for next week)

Grand Total: Total before coupons and sales was $520 – spent $179 – saved $341!

I loaded up on vitamins for the year, 14 Got2B stylers, 5 Afrin, 6 Palmolive, Finish gel, clearance makeup, Ensure, Joint Juice, Visine, 6 Softsoap, tomato sauce, arthritis pain patches, Special K cereal, Nivea Lip, toilet paper, household cleansers, and some other stuff. It's more than I usually spend but I was able to really stock up on some items we use all the time.

    • Gwilly99

Made a few trips to HT, then also FL, CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens…..my total before savings was $683.70. I spent only $176.18. That's a 74% savings! Thanks Jenny!

    • Didi9996

Publix Trip yesterday total before savings was $232.39, I spent only $79.47. Needless to say a few of my friends are asking me where I get the coupons from. I've been recommending your site to them of course. Thank you for all you do!

    • Lauri

I have a question. I went to Harris Teeter, I noticed as she was ringing that some of my dollar q's would only double as 50 cents. I asked, and she told me that the register will not do overage, and you cant get more than 50 cent on a dollar for a double if he price of said item is less than 2.00. Some of them items were 1.69, I still only received 1.50 off. I sort of felt this was wrong. Anyone that can tell me if all HT's are this way?

      • Darmanandamy

yes – the coupon will only double up to the amount of the item – no overages but it should double all the way up to the cost of the item

    • Ashley H

First HT trip spent $64.88 and save $108.11!

    • Darmanandamy

Harris Teeter this Week – 4 Trips – Total Before Savings $450, Total Spent Out of Pocket $90

    • Leigha

My first HT trip this week (which was my second “try” at coupons) I got $106.93 worth of groceries and spent $33.42. I saved $73.51 (68.7%). My husband is all about me couponing now :) I'm going to Food Lion today, and Harris Teeter again tomorrow to pick up another few things.

      • Mdavis1205

don't go to food lion, nothing against the store. They don't double coupons there.

    • Binanay

      I spent $45, saved $203.

    • Couponerintraining

This week I tried my hand at couponing for the first time. Although I didn't save as much as some of you guys, I think I did pretty well :) After all, I'm still learning, right??

      Trip #1 to Harris Teeter: Original value, $ 48.32 Paid, $ 11.89
      Trip #2 to Harris Teeter: Original value, $ 123.56 Paid, $ 58.07

      Trip #1 to Ingles: Original value, $ 67.41 Paid, $ 55.36

I wasn't as pleased with the savings at Ingles, but then again, any savings are good savings! Overall, I was extremely happy with my shopping this week, and I look forward to learning more from reading Jenny and all of you on this site. Southern Savers is AWESOME!!

      • MaryJ

I think that is amazing! I still can't figure out how to save that much at grocery stores.

        • Couponerintraining

Thanks! I'm learning, and I find new little tricks along the way. I have a good friend who has been couponing for awhile, and she shared some of her ideas with me. I think it's really all about learning the system, and I still have alot to learn, lol. But, it wasn't a bad first experience at all! I want to try some of the drugstore deals too, maybe I can score some deals there too. Guess I'll see!

    • This week i decided i need to try something different so i bought the stuff to start the special k diet.. i made one trip.. Spent 18.19 …. saved 28.88 ….

    • Layne

Does anybody know if you can use coupons for b1g1 items at Winn Dixie? ILysol tb cleaner is B1G1 and I have a coupon for $1 off 2.

      • Tawanda

You should be able to use that coupon on a BOGO special. I have done it in NOLA, with no problem.

    • Tpugh4

Where is the best place to use the AXE coupon that expires today?

    • Patscoups

I don't know how to do make a link as I don't have a couponing URL but I spent $3 last night at CVS and purchased a $33 toothbrush and a $10 package of t-paper. I'm pretty pleased with it :)

    • Patscoups

Bought $40 worth of Christmas dishes for .98 at Walgreens. While I was checking out, the manager marked the boxes of Christmas dishes down from $20 to $5. I had just earned a $10 register reward, so I went back and bought 2 boxes for a gift for next Christmas. I only paid the tax–.98!

    • I took a break from clipping coupons, but I was so excited to be able to get 8 boxes of the Special K cereal and other things for only $10.06 at Publix. At Walgreens I bought $37 worth of goods for only $14 out of pocket.

CVS has candy on sale .89 with .89 ECB the 2oz. gummy lifesavers are included and there is a BOGO coupon for the gummy lifesavers on coupons.com so you get 2 free. Also, Walgreens has no nonsense knee highs for .25 and there is a $1/2 no nonsense in the Bi-Lo New Year New You booklet. My store made me get 4 to use the $1 off coupon but all 4 were free.
