We had a shopping whirlwind of a week.  It was great to dust of coupons and get to use some of the surplus in grocery budget that we’ve been building up by not shopping!

I hit Walgreens, Kroger, and Publix all spread out during the week.  Plus I took my girls and we had “Groupon night” at the mall!  We finally used our Gap groupon, a Cold Water Creek groupon and (3) Build A Bear groupons.  Total for our night at the mall was $42 for over $380 in merchandise.  The most fun for me was getting to watch my kids enjoy making bears and it only costing $2.68 for each bear with an outfit (this is a store my kids drool over but are never allowed to enter except on special occasions).

We hadn’t gone real grocery shopping in a number of weeks and had extra money saved up (we set aside $50 per week for grocery purchases).  Sometimes having the extra is nice, we got to stock up on a ton of good produce deals they are running this week.

One thing I did remember this week: taking husbands grocery shopping means that you always end up buying off sale items.

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or a link.  If you have a picture of your deals you can post it in the community.

I haven't been yet.. I am trying to save for black friday. How do you get cupons for buildabear? I just wish I could figure out how people do it like you did.

I had fun at Publix tonight watching the cashier and the bagger, both high school students, (boys) get excited about my grocery bill. The higher the savings total got, the more they commented about it. The total went from $169.37 to $69.34 and the cashier exclaimed, “Lady, you just saved a hundred bucks! That's amazing!” I laughed and told him I know other people who do even better than that! He couldn't believe it. Too much fun for this to be a chore any more.

I don't have my receipts with me right now but I do remember my totals. I did two trips to Kroger this week because I had some coupons expiring that were too good to waste. I spent $29(saved $45) and $65(saved $79) then I went to Rite Aid and spent $52(saved $140).I also have $18 in UP left to spent at Rite Aid This is the best week I've had since I started couponing 4 months ago.

      Total OOP = $146

      Total Saved= $259 ($18UP left)

There should be some kind of alarm that goes off at the grocery store door when husbands enter the store. It should relay a signal to a special watch setting on your wrist if you aren't with them that lets you know that, somewhere, a man is buying a can of chili at full price, a package of cookies, something no one else in the family will eat, and a 20foot convenience container of floss that costs $4.49. Ok, maybe it's just my husband.

At Walmart last night I found a Nivea gift set with a large body wash, after shave, shaving cream, lip balm and a travel body wash. $16 value on sale for $8.88. Had 2 $3 off coupons that I printed a few weeks back and it let me use those. $5.88 each, what great Christmas gifts. The after shave itself is usually between $6 and $7. My husband and sons uses this. Wish I had more coupons.

I have been doing this for a few months now and I feel like this was my best week yet…

Went to RA, CVS, Bi-Lo, Publix (I know that is crazy, but they are all on the same strectch of road on the way to my house, so not out of the way and worth it)

      Total: $314.61

OOP: $102.62, $10 Up Rewards, $2 CVS bucks

The biggest items in the bunch was 13 jumbo packs of Huggies diapers (alone reg. price at Wal-Mart $116.86), 2 boxes of Feria hair color (have to use to at one time), Butterball Turkey breast, trash bags, Duracell batteries, and almost everything I need for Thanksgiving Dinner next week…WooHoo….husband was very impressed. My goal the last few months was not to have to buy anything in the month of December other than a few little weekly staple items and I think I may have it all stocked up now!! Thanks so much everyone at Southern Savers!!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I laughed when I saw your husbands comment. I usually go shopping with my small children during the day, so I always leave the house thankful when my husband can come with me and help with the kids. But, then I leave the store thinking, I save so much more money without him!

    • shellie

Jenny – when you put in 'before sales and coupons' … when you b1g1 are you including both charges or just the one for the free one?

    • Heather M

So far I went to CVS yesterday and Publix last nite. I have to say I got really frusterated @ CVS b/c the cashier wouldn't let me buy more than one of the Aussie or the Blistex b/c the ad said one per household, even tho I was doing them in different transactions. I'm new to shopping at CVS & Wags but never had this problem before. Any ways… CVS spent $6.81 Saved $23.98 w/ 2ECB left Publix spent $86.11 Saved $107.93

      • Jlynnb143

One per household mean one purchase per card.

    • Ginger

For the first time ever, my main grocery (Ralphs, a Kroger affiliate) had SUPER DOUBLES!!!!! OMG, what we've been missing! Spent 78$, saved $179. WOO-HOO!!!

    • Bee

Oh my I just thought it was MY husband. No worries; he LOVES that I coupon. But I am always amazed that he is impressed by the end result when I save so much MORE when I am by myself. Oh well, at least anything I save in coupons he is more than happy to let me spend on other items, such as clothing.

    • Beth

I spent $11.12 at Kroger this week and saved $32.05 + a $3 off for next time. The best deal was Publix though – I spent $75.60 but saved $101.81!!! Even better the money I spent at Publix was from a gift card so of my money I only spent $11.12 this week!!! I love couponing when everything goes well!

I tried to submitted a link to my blog w/ the above info but it wasn't accepted, I guess, because it's never been added. I'm new to blogging. Are there certain requirements to have your link accepted?

I bought a set of king sized heavy weight flannel sheest at Kohls. The sheets were originally $85.00. They were on sale for $42. I used my $40 in Kohl's cash and my 30% coupon on the remainder. I ended up spending $1.39.

    • Queenjennifer87

Rite aid I spent about $45 this week, but I bought 12 cases of 2 liters, 10 boxes of cereal, 4 fiber one bars, 2 packs of diapers, 3 8packs of paper towels, 2 12 packs toliet paper, 4 shampoo, a thermometer, some pedialight, deoderant and body wash, 50 photo prints, milk, an about a dozen small items as fillers and things we needed. (2liters, picture frames ect) about $200 worth of stuff (if not more)

publix I spent about $35, and I bought a turkey, about 20 boxes of Betty croker , potatoes, 2 bags of chip, butter, sour cream, rice, crackers, ect. It would cost over $100 before coupons and sales.

I am set for awhile! I so feel the pain when you bring your husband with you! He always throws off my % saved!
