I spent the whole week catching up after being gone last week.  Catching up on housework, laundry, deals, and sleep.  For the first time since I was 4, I fell asleep at 8:30 on a Saturday night.

The hardest part of this week has been finding time to work on a video of everything from Haiti.  I promise it’s coming and hope to finish it over the weekend and share everything with you on Monday.  There is just so much that we saw and did that it’s tough to process it all.

For our savings…  I went to Kroger for the end of the Mega event last week and did pretty good.

Total before sales and coupons: $126.59
Total spent: $66.47
Total saved: $60.12 or 47.4%

This was mostly all mega events with extra fresh produce added in. My husband had only gone out for milk the entire time I was gone so we needed a good trip to get back on track.

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your savings post.

    • The linky isn't working. Thanks.

I made a run to Publix on Wednesday for the fiber one yogart sale. I bought 8 – 4packs of yogart, and 1 2-liter publix brand orange soda (the penny item) and a 20oz. pepsi for the ride home. it was snowing and I did not know how long the ride home would be…. I spent $4.12 and saved $18.48.

I had a somewhat slow week. I went to Rite Aid and CVS each twice this week and that's it. had some great savings!!!

Rite Aid: turned a ton of up rewards into cash (scr) and got some other great deals
      total before sales/coupons: $328.16
      total oop: $2.10
      total saved: $326.06 or 99%

CVS: got free excedrin pm and gum, garnier hair dye, and some prunes for my hubby
      total before sales/coupons: $125.82
      total oop: $2.72
      total saved: $123.10 or 98%

I also spent $1 on a paper. I would've bought more but when I finally made it to dollar tree on Sunday, they only had 2 left, one was missing the rp insert, so I only bought 1.

      • kelli

        weekly total
        total before sales/coupons: $455.03
total oop: $5.87 (all but $1.40 was tax)
        total saved: $449.16 or 99%

Wow kelli!!! You are my hero. I've just started a few months ago and have been saving about 70%. I know that I'll get better. That's really awesome way to go!!!

          • kelli

I've been doing this for almost 2 years, so don't get frustrated by my numbers or anything. I used extra bucks and up rewards to pay down my totals to as little as I could. some weeks I come out ahead, some weeks I don't. I think that it took me about 6ish months to get the hang of it all. I've got such a good stockpile at this point that I don't really have to go shopping most weeks, except to spend my expiring store money. :)

            Good luck!!!

the dollar tree has the Sunday paper??

        • kelli

the dollar tree stores in my area carry the sunday papers. they're are $1.75 everywhere else, so getting them for $1 is great! :)

On the SCR items, if you buy more than one, will you be reimbursed for each one you buy or is there a limit of one? thanks!

        • kelli

it depends on the SCR. some (most) of them are limit 1 but I've seen limits of 2 and sometimes more. you just have to check the scr book or the website to see if limit is more than 1.

    • Jessiecoupon

I can not believe the amount saved by all you girls. I'm so excited to truly get started in this. I've been playing around with it for a couple of weeks and have already saved a good bit of money!

My best trip this week was Earth Fare. Got the free meal (a fryer chicken, mashed potatoes from the deli, and baby carrots) and free truffles. Spent $18, saved $21.

On the surface, Kroger was all that impressive. Spent $23, saved $9. But WAS impressive was how much I DIDN'T have to buy! There wasn't much that was on sale that I needed, and I only needed a few produce items to fill in for the coming week. Love a weekly trip for that little $$!
