We had a wonderful day of shopping today.  I got brave and went to 3 stores this afternoon during what should have been nap time.  No naps for us though, and everyone did great.  Don’t worry I know it was a fluke and I won’t make a habit of it.

Total Saved: $192.12 or 74.3%

Year to date:
Total Value of Purchases: $2589.34
Total Spent: $782.62 ($52.17 weekly average)
Total Saved: $1806.72 or 69.8%

Tips from this weeks trip:

  • Grabbed an extra ham to stock up at Easter prices (lowest price until the next “family” holiday)
  • Bought 4 Wheat Thins, using (2) B1G1 and (2) -.55/1 coupons — Always remember that a B1G1 coupon is really a coupon off one item and the other item is still full store price and can have another coupon used.
  • Used a coupon found in a Publix flyer at Bi-Lo because it was a manufacturers coupon — don’t let the words “Redeem at” scare you.  If it is a manufacturers coupon use it where you want to!
  • Redeemed a raincheck for the skillet meals.  When I got the raincheck I told customer service that I had a coupon that would expire before they were restocked — they wrote okay to use expired coupons on the raincheck!!  Made the meals $1.50 ea instead of $7.99 ea. (I love Publix.)

    • Misti

I wish I’d known ahead of time to get them to write that I could use expired coupons on the TGI meals-I had a raincheck for 6 and they NEVER restocked them so I missed out :(

    • Amanda

question, Jenny… It seems that in the picture you got decaf Lipton. Am I mistaken? We need decaf tea but it is always excluded from sales. Any ideas?
      Thanks!

    • Jenny

Just go in and ask now. It doesn’t hurt to try anyway. They will get reimbursed for the coupons still so it is an easy way for them to appear to have great customer service.

      Jess

    • Ann

I am weekly amazed at how many things that you can find that are free or near free. The cashier at Bilo was amazed at my receipt and asked if I would mind if she looked at it. She said that she really needed to start cutting out coupons! I encouraged her of course!

Thanks for all that you do to help all of us make great savings on our grocery bills! We appreciate you more that you know!

I had a fun and busy week going around to the stores. I also went to the Mall today and got 3 shirts for $8 at NY & Co. by using two $15 off any purchase coupons (my husband came with me so I could use two). Love this site!

    • My Walgreens trip was small but I was able to get the vanilla glade 4oz candles better than free…and they smell awesome!!!

    • Hey! Our publix has decaf tea on sale as well as regular because I had to get a rain check for regular (they only had decaf).

Jenny, where did you get your ham? I need to buy one and my brain cell refuses to get fired up so I can figure out who has the best price!

      Gratefully,
      Christy :)

      • Jenny

        Christy,

Bi-Lo is the lowest price then Kroger and then Publix.

    • Anne

Do you know when Snuggle Creme Liquid Fabric Sofnter will be going on sale? Have some coupons… 1 of them $2/1 and other $1/1. Need some very soon. Thanks!

    • Stacy

Jenny, regarding the Unilever reimbursement for my Easter ham since I live in Florida can I circle both of the Breyer’s Icecream for my $40 even though I technically only paid for one? Thanks!

      • Jenny

        Stacy,

They are going to look at the price, not the amount purchased so if it rang up as $0.00 then it won’t really add to the $40 to circle it.

    • Lynn

I wish that I could get this many deals @ my Publix. I never have the right coupons in my inserts to go with there sales. The sale here seem to have alot of regional coupons and it isn’t worth a trip 20 miles one way for a few items. :(

    • Cristina

My cashier wouldn’t let me use the B1G1 coupon on the crackers. She said they were already B1G1. The baby was on the verge of a meltdown so I couldn’t argue. I’ve only found one cashier that’s good with coupons at my Publix. Unfortunately, he wasn’t working today.

    • I had a great Publix trip! The total was $101.71, but I only spent $17.30 (83% savings!!)

    • Melissa

Christy, I bought my hams at Ingles. They had a glazed spiral sliced for 1.58lb, which I think was about a dime cheaper than Kroger, and the other one I got was a smoked ham for $1.28lb.
I wanted to buy more than one of those smoked hams to have for later since I read your 4 meals from a ham article, but I couldn’t fit another in any of my freezers. They are fuuuuuuull.

    • Kimberly

Melissa… I’m your other couponer in villa rica LOL… sorry!!! There’s another publix that just opened though not too far from the villa rica one ;) They have some good stuff too ;)
      Kim

    • Melissa

Kim, I love the Publix in Villa Rica, and the new one at New Georgia, no problems there (well, not anymore, since I started going later in the evening instead of earlier in the morning like I used to).

I was afraid to try out the Publix in Carrollton, though, after my ordeal at the Target there. The Walgreens in Carrollton wasn’t much better either.

I would have thought there would be more couponing going on in Carrollton and the stores would be more coupon savvy/friendly than they are, it being a lot larger shopping place than Villa Rica.

PS, the New Ga store is where I got all that gum on clearance, if you have those coupons.

    • Kimberly

      Hey Melissa,
Can I email you off list? I live right down the road from the new publix, I’ve never shopped in Carrolton… Beware there is one lady at the new publix who acts like everyone is ripping off the store, she shut her lane down for 45 minutes so she could look over EVERY coupon I had before she scanned any of them. I always make sure I go to another lane now lol. I too go around 8pm lol. Wouldn’t it be funny if we ran into each other lol ;) If you see a lady with a bunch of coupons it might just be me! ;)
      Kim

    • Melissa

Sure you can. You can email me at missi at bellsouth dot net.

    • Lana

      Cristina,
I actually asked my favorite cashier at Publix about his work schedule so that I could try to shop when he is there! He works a very regular schedule so it is pretty easy. Doesn’t hurt to ask and he seemed to appreciate that I am happy with the consideration he gives my coupons.

    • driving lady

y”all- Does anyone know of a scan your card machine in the greenville, sc area. You know where you scan and it spits out coupons
