This week was a fun shopping week.  I didn’t really need anything but I got a bag of extra coupons from someone and almost everything in it corresponded to the Mega Event at Kroger, I just couldn’t resist.  I also left a ton of coupons spread all over my store.  I just didn’t need 50 bags of potato chips or 100 boxes of pop corn.  If you live near me, I hope some of you got use a few of those fun coupons!

I grabbed:

(10) Bags of Kettle Chips
(8) Boxes of Pop Corn
(1) Philadelphia Cooking Cream
(3) Pepperidge Farm Garlic Breads
(4) Satin Care Shave Gel
(4) Venus Disposable Razors
(9) Hillshire Farm products

Total Value: $146.26
Total Spent: $30.68
Total Saved: $115.58 or 79%

Everything here except the Hillshire products will be donated, that made it even more fun to shop!

Just in case you are wondering while the Hillshire products are on sale this week, I grabbed them because I had coupons for free products that were expiring soon.  Last July we won a year supply of Hillshire Farm and I needed to finish using up the coupons.  Thankfully everything freezes great and we can save it.

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your savings post.

I love reading the Friday Finals!  Would be great if you could include the coupons you used, because it helps me see what I might have missed out on.  Thanks for all you do!  Truly LOVE this site!!

Is there a trick to finding deals on fresh produce and meats other than just checking weekly prices? I haven't been couponing that long (I'm actually just starting to get comfortable with smaller things), but it may be because I'm limited on grocery stores? We have Walmart Supercenters, Food Lion, a Harris Teeter 30 mins away and a Lowes food 45 minutes away (the way gas is, it's not a deal if you spend what you save in gas!) Any tips would be great, my husband is getting out of the military in a month and I would love to be able to get great savings to make our dollars stretch. Thanks!

We only have a Publix and a Winn Dixie here and neither doubles.  Publix recently quit considering Target as a competitor so our competitor coupons have been drastically cut down.  Prices have also increased.  It's hard now to save those big big bucks.  I used to average about 75 to 80% savings and even now with all of the cutbacks I average about 50 to 60% savings.  Coupons and websites such as this one are a great help.  Thanks.

My best deal this week was from the clearance rack at my local Walmart. Smucker's Orchard's Finest Preserves (5) Michigan Red Tart Cherry (1) Pacific Mountain Strawberry and (1) Fall Harvest Cinnamon Apple  Grand Total of these 7 jars of preserves = .7 cents  yep, that's right…. when I price checked the items (because there was no sign underneath) they rang up .2 cents, by the time I checked out they have been reduced to 1 cent each.  They are delicious preserves. On the same display were some Polandor Sugar Free Preserves, price checked those, they came up $1.75  each, with all but 1 jar having a $1.00 off coupon attached. .75 cents is great for sugar free anything. Attended the Southern Savers 101 coupon workshop in High Springs/Gainesville Fl. (a 2 hour drive from where I live) last week and I am trying to put what I learned in motion.

So you spent $30 you did not need to just because someone gave you coupons? In reality unless you got them for free you wasted money on stuff you yourself said you did not need! There is a fine line between wasting money and getting a good deal. Not all of it even looked like very healthy choices.

      • We didn't need it, but others that we know did need it for upcoming youth parties, and donation toiletry bags.

We are allowed to purchase what we feel is best, please feel free to share friendly notes and savings stories.

You are a blessing to a lot of people because of your site.  I have made such a change in my families grocery budget that it is amazing.  I too hope I can start donating soon as well.

        • Christinekell

I think what you are doing is great!

Please don't post on here if it's negative.  Walk in your own shoes and not someone else's.  Life is what you choose to make it – if she wants to buy and donate because she is blessed, then she is getting a blessing as well.  It's sad that your looking at your life as half empty and not half full.  I will pray for you.

You you really felt the need to post a comment like? She also stated that other then what she is going to use she is donating and left coupons for other people. Jenny was nice enough to respond kindly, but the level of audacity should wasn't deserving.

I just do not get it!!!! It seems I have the crappiest grocery store in the U.S.-Winn Dixie. Walmart is my only other option. Guess I just haven't found the best website to follow????

      • BoonaMom

try winndixieonadime.com. It is good for helping with Winn-Dixie sales. Jenny is great for most stores, but since you need a specialty, winndixieonadime.com might be helpful.

I went to Food Lion Tuesday night. I bought 6 V-8 Fusion bottles, 3 V-8 Fusion + Tea bottles, and one pack of Minute Maid Popsicles for $5.05!!! When I got home I looked at the receipt, and found that four “$1.00 off of your next purchase” catalinas had printed with it!!!!

      • Emily

I used five “$1.50 off V8 Fusion” coupons (could have used 6 if I'd had one more), three “Free V8 Fusion + Tea bottle when you buy 2 V8 Fusions” coupons and one “$0.50 off minute maid” coupon.
