I apologize for it being Saturday and this just getting up.  I forgot to bring the computer into the hotel room after returning from a late workshop, and well I just wanted to go to bed.  So now on Saturday here are our weekly totals.

We were only home for 3 days this week so it was not a big week of grocery and drugstore trips.  We made it to Kroger and Bi-Lo.

Total before sales and coupons: $22.40
Total Spent: $14.81
Total Saved: $7.59

We mostly got Bread, Milk and produce.  Buying items that don’t have coupons we still managed to save buy finding the Sunday markdown bread and the markdown produce.  It’s okay that the fruit only has 2 or days left – in our house it wouldn’t last that long anyway!!

Total before sales and coupons: $25.10
Total Spent: $2.05
Total Saved: $23.05
This is also qualified for Bi-Lo’s and Kellogg’s Fuel for School so I will get back $20 in rebates.

Weekly Totals:
Before sales and coupons: $47.50
Total Spent: $16.86
Total Saved: $30.64

After the two rebates we really made $3.14 to buy groceries this week!!

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your savings post.  (Any links to any other posts will be deleted).  I know there are some awesome triples savings for some of you, so please share!!

    • bhumi

Ur posts are ex iting to read but I m sure everyone of us understands thst u r a mom and a person first n u need and u need some time to urself. No need for apologies.

    • Cori

I have had one of those make me sooo mad moments. I have already submitted a kelloggs rebate so I guess it is not soo bad, but I was going to send it to a relative. I had a $10 bill from bilo buying all the kelloggs stuff, am getting a $10 gift card for the fuel for savings which still makes it free and could have submitted the second one and made $10 if I hadn’t mistakenly thrown the receipt away after entering it into my checkbook. I hate dumb moments like that.

    • Made it to Walmart for 77% off!

Going to Kroger (TX) in a few minutes for double up to $1.00….woo hoo! I’ll be posting later – I’ll check back for a linky!

      Have a great weekend

    • Tabitha

Just got back from Kroger- $62.90 before sales and coupons, $19.50 OOP! (thanks to Texas Kroger’s double coupons up to $1.00)

    • Had a great time taking advantage of the Bloom triple coupons.

    • Ashley

This was my first time using lots of coupons at one time. I took advantage of Bi-Lo’s BOGOFree sale.

Total before all coupons/bonus card: $ 355 and some change

      Total after all coupons/bonus card: $ 179.19

My receipt has that I saved $ 193 and some change.

I stocked up and couldn’t believe how much I saved. I did have to get a stack of rainchecks which is going to help too.

    • I spent $4.04 at Shop ‘n Save for $73 of groceries and forgot to use (2) $1 coupons. Overall for the week, saved 74%. http://couponstl.blogspot.com/2009/08/saved-74-this-week.html

    • Went to Harris Teeter for triples (not done yet!!) Spent $37.46 OOP on $225.58 worth of stuff!! (70% savings)

    • Made money at Harris Teeter Triples!

    • Saved 80% at Kroger Triples plus will get the Nabisco rebate.

    • kate

Harris Teeter Triples – Saved $57, spent $8…1st of a few trips!

    • I lost my binder this week! :(

Here is what I did without it.

    • I shopped 3 stores this week and saved $74.19

    • Mina

This was the most exciting savings week EVER for me. Sure, it was cool to stock up on hair ties, toothpaste, and chapstick for free, shampoo at a profit, and rebates that have covered the cost of items plus a little extra. And it was a real kicker getting $350 of Amp for $10, and turning a few pencils into stacks of soft drinks. Most of those things, though, we’d be just fine without having quite such a stock of, and some things we could easily do without.

This week’s shopping, though, has made a dent in areas of our budget beyond the grocers and drugstores.

Publix – the grands are now stocked with kid vitamins for the next several months, purchases included lots of grocery necessities and produce – part was toward rebates
      Pre-savings $147
      Saved – $126
      OOP – $21

Kroger – included bread, milk, yogos, ibuprofen
      Pre-savings $14
      Saved – $13.58
      OOP – 42 cents

      Bi-Lo (the biggie)
stocked up on 8 packs of bnls/sknls chicken brsts. & 5 packs of salisbury steak and lots more pudding cups and items toward the Nabisco rebate, and milk

      OOP for GROCERIES – $0
EARNED – over $450.00 AND have $40 worth of store credit

I could say “saved”, but the savings aren’t all being spent on groceries, or even expenses that are usually paid to a grocer or drugstore. We did shell out a pile of $ at Bi-Lo this week; it just didn’t fall into the grocery category.

Not even counting the incomplete rebates we worked on this week, or the savings that I’m attributing to other categories, grocery store expenses ended up NEGATIVE again. :-) This week was -$18.58.

The past 4 weeks I’ve had 1 wk where I stayed under my $50 pretend budget (covering 11 people right now), one week that was over, and two weeks that were negative. I REALLY did not think that I would do that with my casual way of shopping, but I did!

Also, gas expenses were 30% over budget, but averaged over the last 3 weeks, that puts it right at my “impossible” gas goal for the month.

    • http://madamedeals.com/2009/08/13/harris-teeter-trip-saved-82/ Harris Teeter, saved 82% with triple coupons!

    • Mina

Wanted to say that I don’t consider myself to be a hardcore couponer. I pass up far more deals than I take advantage of.

    • Mina

Jenny, if you ever give a prize for number of words typed on your blog, I would have a good chance of finally winning something. LOL

    • Fantastic savings. You rocked the Kellogg’s promotion.

    • Adele

I would really love to see/read about your scenario for the Kellog’s and Bilo rebates. Thanks! Adele

    • Angel

There is not a Harris Teeter near me, but my sister lives within a five mile radius of five Harris Teeter stores. I drove 1 1/2 hours to see her and stayed overnight. I made six trips to Harris Teeter for the triple coupons and it was so worth it. My total before VIC card savings was $501.58 – $99.07 in VIC card savings and – $314.57 in coupon savings!!!! I only spent $87.74 and I got quality time with family!!! Now my sister is spending her weekend at Harris Teeter!!!!

    • Elainda

Ok, today was my first time at using coupons! I went to Lowes, Kroger and Harris Teeter.
      76.34 Total before coupons/cards
      41.24 OOP
      35.10 Saved
I don’t think that’s too bad,, but HAVE to get better at it,,, took me over 3 hours in the stores. :(

    • Sarah J

Hey! This week was a bummer week for me.. or so I thought! I was low on money and really wanted to crunch the numbers and see if there were still deals out there for me! Without all the specifics, I spent OOP about $15 (including tax) and saved almost $50!! Total product value (sans all the sale prices, etc) was nearly $80!! It was a lot of fun trying to really stretch myself and find some products that we needed while staying under budget. Thanks SO MUCH for all your hard work! And way to go everyone!!

    • Liz

I started using e coupons and noticed that they dont double those coupons. I go shopping at kroger and tom thumb and noticed when using e coupons they dont tripple or double, is it inly manufactured coupons that are double and or trippled?
